ES Starscream: What they took from him (last minute!)

I can't stop thinking about season 2 of Earthspark so I'm at it again. Overall I was mostly unbothered to the very last 10 minutes of the last episode, this last minutes made me so mad it's unbelievable. So what I'm gonna do now is list all the things that got screwed up in this short time, particulary how Starscream character got absolutely butchered.

Without further ado, that's the list: > Starscream lost any agenda. His agenda in this season wasn't good anyway ofc, but it was ANYTHING at the end of final episode he's just. gone. and that's it woohoo. > Starscream lost his respect among the Decepticons. It was interesting for me how we could see how obedient towards him they were, a bit in season 1 but mostly in season 2. Even Shockwave didn't dare to question him most of the time. I was waiting to discover why is that so. Maybe they knew he was capable of pulling a stunt like the one he did at the end of season 2 so far? But yea we will never know bc noone from Decepticons is going to stick around him now, and now Shockwave is the leader so gap has been filled. so fun. > He also lost his mission, his care for anything! cyberforming Earth was ment to serve the Decepticons, his fellow cybertronians. But first in the dialogue with Hashtag Starscream says he's doing it just for himself and then he just. Lost his mind i guess. > Speaking of Hashtag. Starscream in this dialogue with her twists his own words from "What Dwells Within" from season one. His words coming from genuine care we saw developing in that episode here are shown as somehow mischievious, as some stupid foreshadowing. Its completely insane how the show retrospectively is erasing everything that could make Starscream redeemable later on. Awful, absolutely awful. > Hashtag also says that his actions will make him worse than Megatron, and he accepts that. The intention of this specific line is super clear. It makes his relationship in simplistic reality of the cartoon somewhat less of a problem. Starscream is bad right, even worse than Megatron, so why bother. I fear that's the way this series closes the problem of Megatron's and Starscream's relationship, expecially with how earlier on in season 2 Megatron is framed as reasonable and the one trying to speak to him before the fight. I'm afraid we will never hear anything about them that makes sense in this show. And it's just so disappointing. > Starscream murdering two children (that's what Chaos Terrans are ok) which is. Oh my god. It's such a cheap move to make the character unredeemable. Not to mention how deaths of Aftermath and Spitfire were kiiiiiinda convenient for our protagonists. "uh oh how sad they are dead how could you Starscream :(((((( ok now lets get the Emberstone that is now complete thanks to them being dead :))))))" > About that scene. I hate it from different reason, too. Because the way Starscream treated Chaos Terrans, expecially Spitfire was a beacon of hope for me in this season. The way he was never violent towards them (even Breakdown kicked Aftermath! And Starscream never did anything like that, even when Twitch in Spitfire's body made a mess and ruined the equipment!). The way we could kinda see him getting closer with Spitfire, in the way that reminded me how kind he could be for Hashtag in season 1. And all of this absolutely ruined, none of this was relevant.

So that's all I've gathered, if you have something more feel free to add your observations! Starscream's character in season 1 is very dear to me, even if "What Dwells Within" isn't perfect I still loved it so I feel personally robbed by season 2.

My tfp Elita is Argentine with major face claim inspo from Anya-Taylor Joy!! (who I think would be an AMAZING elita if they do another celeb cast for her) with her name being Ariel Caballero (meaning knight/horseman)

(this art is like almost 2 years old lmao 😭) she had strawberry blonde hair and a plethora of pink suits (like 2 years ago I had a humanformers boarding school au so a lot came from that) and she's sisters with chromia and moonracer! She'd be first lady (with op being prime minister ?? president ?) and military commander, and the niece of alpha trion! her not being in tfp gave me a lot of free reign omg 😭

I do have a human OP design!!! only tfp rn tho 😭 i'm thinking of ones for tf one and genuinely earthspark reminds me of a basic ass european descent grandpa so that's basically it for es 😭

Esita Won, she's of Indian and Chinese descent, but mostly Indian, she probably speaks Punjabi or Tamil (ik completely different areas of India 😭), she reminds me of that one desi older sister who takes no crap and is not afraid to beat your ass and also makes the best curry idk

I noticed a lot of Elita's helm designs lean into traditional east Asian hair styles and clothing so I really wanted to represent those parts of her designs and the franchise's Japanese heritage :))

woke up immediately thinking about earthspark megabee with some minor opbee >:)

I like to imagine that with the drastic change of alt-mode Bee gets some unintended side effects...he's antsy all the time and any time he goes too long without racing he feels like he's gonna lose his mind

it escalates to where he tries to lay down for recharge but just can't bc his frame wants him to move move move and anytime he is able to get to recharge he keeps having dreams involving his coworkers that leave him waking up wildly uncomfortable at the memory

after all, it's a bit weird to have sex dreams with your boss splitting you open on his spike, right?

anyway he ends up slipping into the woods to wander around to try and get his mind to calm down enough to get some rest and winds up running into Megatron who was going on a lil mental health walk lol

they end up chatting and Megatron starts smirking almost immediately after Bee starts describing the issues he's having

he asks him whether or not he's spoken to anyone else with a speedster frame like his new one about the symptoms and Bee admits that he hadn't bc the only person he could really ask was Breakdown and he knew he'd just tease him for it

Megatron explains to him that Breakdown has the exact same issues which is exactly why Megatron knows just how to fix it

and this leads to Megatron fucking Bee in the woods ofc and at first Bee is super flustered about it and feels like he's doing something wrong but Megatron keeps talking to him so sweetly and it makes his brain feel fuzzy and being held against such a big warm frame is so nice

his reactions end up being a surprise to Megatron bc tho Breakdown also gets antsy needing someone to frag him every once in a while he never gets so...loopy? but he's not against it in the slightest especially not when he shoves into Bee's gestation chamber and his little legs clamp around him to keep him there his door wings flapping gleefully when he fills his tank with his thick transfluid

I'd like to think this leads to Megatron fucking him multiple times bc Bee is pent UP and the whole time Bee just keeps begging for more even as globs of transfluid are gushing from his valve he still doesn't feel full enough

the next morning Bee would wake up in Megatron's quarters all cleaned up with no memory of how he got there but fully remembering getting the frag of his life and being soooo embarrassed about it but also craving it in equal measure which leads to one hell of a conversation with Megatron

they come to an agreement and Megatron gets to train his little buzzy Bee to be a perfect little spikesleeve always eager to have his tank flooded with transfluid

would also be funny if one time when Bee is spikewarming Megatron while he does some random paper work or something Optimus walks in and shuts the door so fast to be like 'hey guys?? wtf???' but Megatron just lifts Bee off of his spike and lets him get an eyeful of how messy he already was and asked if he'd like to have a turn with his scout

Bee would be so out of it here but whining bc no his valve is only for Megatron's spike Megatron said so but then Megatron asks him if he wants to be a good toy for him and Bee can't help but spread his legs just a little wider

Optimus sinks in and it feels so different from Megatron but still so good and he goes limp in Megatron's arms whining at his praise and overloading around Optimus' spike

and then just as Optimus is nearing overload Megatron fixes him with a glare and tells him that he'd better not spill inside

only he gets to breed his toy

Optimus pulls out and spills over his aft but makes sure not to get a single drop on his valve bc he knows that if he did Megatron may never let him play with them again

just...Bumblebee becoming Megatron's loyal little pet bc his frame makes him crave spike on the regular and Megatron makes him feel so good that he doesn't mind it when Megatron decides he wants to share him

one of my favorite things to do with any media is to just daydream about time travel scenarios. not even for fix-it purposes (tho i do always stray away from things that would make it worse). i just like thinking about the emotional consequences of it all.

so with earthspark. i keep thinking about time travel from the end of season 1 to the beginning. as in, instead of quintus’s power healing everybody, it sends a few people back to the moment twitch and thrash were born. which people? well, haha, sometimes i think about the 5 terrans going back (all at once, mo and robbie get 5 new siblings for the price of 2). sometimes i think about bumblebee and schloder (guys most motivated and able to change things for the better on the transformers and human sides respectively).

If the kids go back:

the triplets accept it more or less quickly. they’re asking questions but mostly rolling with the punches

thrash is also outwardly rolling with it, but he’s stressed and it sometimes shows (he had time, before he died, to feel like shit, to know they lost)

twitch is openly nervous and taking charge (she knows, even more intimately than thrash that they lost. there was time, between thrash’s death and the maltos waking up, when there was Nothing coming through the link, where she was aloneAloneALONE)

they’re more careful about staying hidden in general, but they Insist on introducing themselves to their parents

nightshade starts work on the dugout right away and the others pitch in

they ask dot to get optimus over here to talk to them. this is, ostensibly, to tell him about the time travel and everything that’s going to happen. mostly it’s to get bee back.

optional thing for this btw: if mind-controlled optimus actually managed to kill bee. you Know the kids are going to Feel Some Way about seeing him after that

either way, they definitely all pounce on him for a hug

the triplets are also going to be hurt and confused when bee doesn’t like them at first. they’ve only ever known a bee who loved them. the twins are a little hurt too, but more understanding

If Bee and Schloder go back:

bee is living in confusion on how he ended up so far away until he sees the date

screw waiting for optimus to call, it’s only a day or so early, he’s heading to the kids Now

he tries to call optimus, of course, but he hits the voicemail

jon, if he’s lucky, gets to confirm the time travel by looking at his phone. if he’s unlucky, he happens to be in the room with his sister when he gets zapped back.

once he wraps his head around it all, he figures he needs to tell somebody. to plan things out, to make change. maybe his mind should leap to optimus. it leaps to bee.

so in the morning, he drives to the malto farm. that’s where bee was hiding out, right?

he rolls up while alex is outside, telling the transformers story to the kids

the human kids are visibly nervous, staying near the barn. jon and alex barely get through introductions when bee skids into the driveway.

bee skids into the driveway, sees the strange car, sees jon, Panics

he was so desperate excited to see the kids that he forgot caution, and now he has possibly brought ghost’s suspicion down on both himself and them

luckily, his initial panicked reaction was to freeze, so jon has time to say something like “i’m on your side, not ghost’s”. or anything, really, that would clue bee in that this is jon, not agent schloder

once they square away that they’ve both time travelled, bee transforms and greets alex, who fanboys over bee ofc

bee introduces himself to the kids and has to restrain himself from hugging them because he doesn’t want to scare them off

meanwhile jon calls optimus and tells him to come to the malto farm cause there’s something they need to talk about

optimus shows up, sees bee just chilling within sight of schloder, and Panics. lol. lmao

disclaimer that i am not at all thinking seriously about this, i've only seen 16/26 s1 episodes and not even in order, i'm just having fun here. no way in hell am i writing any more than i just did.

(but if anyone did want to write something like this... go for it my dude. there is not nearly enough of this kind of time travel in the transformers fandom)

So i just learned that in transformers Rise of the beasts, they based Optimus' face under his battle mask off of Peter Cullen (aka THE VOICE OF OPTIMUS PRIME SINCE 1984)

And from what I'm aware, they only publicly released that they made that design choice AFTER trailers released and people were saying Optimus' design was terrible and ugly, which is so disrespectful

And I'm gonna cry about this ajdjdj

While also on this topic, I am sick of being told "bayverse sucks!!!" Or some other equivalent when people talk about the bayverse movies

Because Optimus was voiced IN EVERY ONE OF THOSE FILMS by Peter Cullen, so that's just,,, don't disrespect who MADE YOUR FANDOM WHAT IT IS (give him credit for how well he did everything at least, you don't HAVE to like bayverse, no one is forcing you)

Transformers fans (mostly newer ones/ones who have gotten into the fandom in the past three to four years, I've noticed) are the vast majority of those who are CONSTANTLY bashing designs.

It's been done with bayverse (YEARS after the films released and did FANTASTICALLY), it's happened to Earthspark, and now to ROTB. This is bullshit and so disrespectful. You can criticize a design without being a dick, for one, and two? The animators didn't ask your god damn opinion.

And ALSO the reason they did his model after his face in rotb? Because *Hasbro wouldn't hire Peter Cullen this time around so (I assume) they did it to honour him because he was disrespected and tossed to the side by Hasbro because Hasbro sucks ass

He's the reason we HAVE OPTIMUS PRIME. Not a single voice could've fit, not a single person would've made Optimus who he is other than Peter Cullen.

He's the reason we have transformers prime. (Because he VOICES OPTIMUS HERE TOO) And the TFP movie (TFP beast hunters predacons rising, where he ONCE AGAIN VOICES OPTIMUS). And he's the reason why we have the continuation of that, which is transformers robots in disguise (WHERE HE IS, ONCE AGAIN, OPTIMUS MOTHERFUCKING PRIME) And then THAT became comics with tfp's characters that didn't exist anywhere else in canon (as far as I'm aware, it's been a while, IE knockout and breakout with their TFP DESIGNS, etc) then became earthspark later down the line, which was a mix of mtmte, TFP, and bayverse designs in concept art bc it combined ideas

Bayverse is ALSO ALSO the reason we HAVE ROTB. AND BUMBLEBEE 2018.

The reason I say he's responsible for all of these? The reason I say that Bayverse is a backbone for transformers (branching off from G1 ofc)? Because every single new fucking continuity or series or comics or whatever the hell is ALWAYS based on preexisting designs merging with new ideas.

He made Optimus Prime who Optimus Prime is and frankly I am a little god damn sick of people saying "this series/movie is bad" or whatever just because they don't like it

Anyways I had to rant but I'm not sorry about it and I hope others can feel a bit heard because I am so fed up with online slander.

I grew up with Bayverse. It gave me my entire start to this fandom. It gave THOUSANDS OF US STARTS TO THIS FANDOM. It is the SOLE reason we have so much we have now, as much as we have- and god damnit, you don't have to like it but UNDERSTAND it is the ONLY reason you have more than 3/4 the content this fandom currently does (if not more)

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

Clematis was more of an interesting story because that wasn't her original name. Up until a couple years ago it was Nightshade, but then EarthSpark happened and I wanted to change it in case I ever wrote a fic with both of them (which I kinda have). I picked Nightshade originally because I thought it sounded cool. Didn't even know about it being a deadly plant at the time, but over the years when I finally settled on making her a pharmacist/nurse it kinda fit in the way that nightshade's can also be used for medicine too. So when I ended up changing her name, I picked a different flower that I kept mistaking for Nightshade, and thus she got her new name.

As for Nightshroud it was a similar situation as Clematis. I'd wanted a name similar sounding to 'Nightshade'. Thought it sounded cool and forgot that there was a Yu-Gi-Oh GX character with the same name.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

For Nightshroud, definitely when she realized she could open up to Starscream after millions of years of being closed off to everyone. Even herself.

Clematis has too many to count. The easy answer is literally any outing she gets to have with Hot Shot, but one of her best is watching Nightshroud finally open up to someone and feel happy for the first time in so long. She just wants her twin to be happy <3

🧊 - Is their current design the first one?

Nope! I never gave them actual designs til more recent years, but they both had Pontiac Firebird alt-modes. Clematis only had blue and black colors, and Nightshroud only had red and black. They didn't get their accent colors until several years ago, and Nightshroud's even switched alt-modes completely. I still reference her car alt-mode in her backstory and how she had herself reformatted to get the jet form.

🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

Clematis doesn't really have an arch-nemesis or rival. She's friendly with pretty much everyone, and she hates the thought of disliking anyone. That said, there are bots out there she really would hate (and she wouldn't like that thought either). Getaway's a bot she would REALLY not like.

Nightshroud? Not really an arch-nemesis but I could see her being rivals with Thunderblast from Cybertron. They would hate each other so much.

Eighteen. Thinking about it this year was kind of their sweet sixteen.

So far, in my messy, messy plan, JazzOP is pre-established. They're actually spark bonded (maybe conjunx? idk, I HC they're two different things but can co-exist). Which makes it all the more heart breaking for Jazz!

Jazz is pissed, he's upset, he's missing his Prime, and wants to punch him in the face then kiss him, then punch him again. I don't want OP to show up for a while as well. I'll kinda follow the episodes but also not, so I'm thinking OP is at least there by the time GHOST have every bot under their control. I do have other plans for him s2&3 but they're a secret :))))

OP knows things are going down because he's a Prime. He's left the Matrix behind but it's dug it's claws into him and he senses Quintus' powers etc.

The other bots? High Command know he's gone, I haven't decided if I want other Autobots to know too. Maybe not, it would likely crush their sparks to know Prime left them, but also I guess its cruel to lie to them hmmmm. GHOST knows, they're doing damage control for the public.

Anyway! Ratchet is pissed ofc, he's OP's amica in this. OP's shut down his end of their bond (same with Jazz) and Ratchet wants to use OP for spare parts right now. He obviously also misses his friend too.

Ironhide, Elita, Megatron. Also all pissed off lmao. Everyone is pissed, basically. When OP is back, they're not going to let him leave again. There's going to have to be lots of apologising, talking, and making up for things. None of it is fully fledged out yet though.

I do know I want OP and Jazz to argue. Jazz deserves to get his frustrations out because how dare OP just up and leave!! After deciding to explode the ground bridge and allying with GHOST!

S1 Ep1 - Secret Legacy Pt1 & Pt2

- Immediately my eyes lay onto the prettiest little spider bot.

- Not even thirty seconds in and the writers already threw in a pun!

- Oh Swindle my beloved.

- The use of parts, like wheels, being used in a fight is making me so giddy. Also I adore how Elita is just throwing them around.

- SWINDLE’S HEAD WENT FOR A SPIN HAHA

- Hardtop pushing Swindle out of the way from the falling container.

- THE LITTLE SPIDERS, also I love Swindle’s little scream of terror.

Characters:

Swindle: Swindle appears to be a very strong willed bot and he does seem a bit more focused on himself as a Decepticon rather than his peers(considering his lack of concern for Hardtop). Hoping to see him again.

Hardtop: Hardtop didn’t get much screen time but he seems like a very loyal con. His comment to Megatron and his jump in for Swindle certainly gives that impression. Would LOVE to see him again.

Optimus: This man is a sweetheart, not much to it yet though he does show obvious care towards each individual character. I’ve been trying to focus on his micro expressions more than just his words and so far he hasn’t had enough screen time for me to take in anything drastic.

Elita: She is certainly a ball of fire, clever and a good show of energy. Not just that but she certainly voices herself, especially when it comes to Wheeljack it seems.

Robby: The initial struggle with the move certainly set me off, I knew he was going to be a bit of a rebellious character the moment that discussion at the dinner table began. He seems to be struggling with the want to please and the want to be his own person, average teenage dilemma, me too.

Mo: This poor kid has so much on her shoulders, she’s exceptionally heavy hearted. Thrash even said it himself that she can make people happy by being happy. She is a worrier, she cares and I can tell she’s going to have the problem of putting others before herself even in poor situations.

Twitch: Head in the clouds at times but I’ll excuse it since Twitch is like two days old. She appears as though she’s going to be similar to Elita, a sort of pumped up figure. As time goes on I’m sure I’ll get more of her personality. Definitely protective.

Thrash: He’s very thoughtful and it seems he wants to make careful decisions. His open heart discussion with Mo definitely tells me he’s going to be a more solid figure. He’s clumsy though and very curious, I’m excited to see the development.

Dot: Her character is interesting, a mother driven to protect her family and others. She seems confident and sassy but I feel she may have some underlying struggles with how her situation is progressing.

Megatron: It is obvious that he has welcomed the Autobot life but a few comments do tell me he does fairly well with Decepticons still. His mention of not knowing whether Optimus is referring to him when he says “Autobots roll out” really set that in stone for me. I wonder if he’ll be sympathetic towards his former faction.

Bumblebee: I was hoping to see him come in with more style but I am glad nonetheless! He does appear to be a bit begrudged when it comes to living with the humans and his “new experience” comment somewhat implies to me that he may not be all happy on Earth?

Footnotes:

First of all! Robby had a point. Many parents don’t consider their children’s thoughts before moving, nor do they even give them any information half the time. Robby and Mo should have been shown pictures or given information about the area they were moving, not to mention some form of familiarity. While it is the parent’s decision, children should be given something to work with. Moving is stressful for everyone.

I noticed that Robby and Mo have a very emotional connection, they’re rather willing to work things out through explosive means. Ie, the yelling match. All in all I think is was a great way to show how it’s okay to just let those pent up and harsh emotions out as long as others aren’t being hurt.

There are many references! The most notable being John Henry, I love the use of folk heroes in comparisons, especially ones others may not be so well versed on. Considering the target audience I do enjoy it. The Battle of Burbank though was just silly.

So, I have few more theories about Earthspark Bumblebee after watching the trailer for the next batch of S1. So yeah, SPOILERS under the cut!

1) The main reason why GHOST and Decepticons believe that Bumblebee is dead, because he DID die in in the battle. We see him carrying the cube in the trailer, which I have no doubt is the AllSpark. So, possibly Bumblebee died, and then he was revived by the AllSpark, but only Autobots ( or maybe few Autobots?) saw him coming back thus everyone else thinks he’s dead.

The human public seem to like him tho ( look at all this merch!) so for humans Bee just disappeared. Makes me wonder if Bee had some sort of impact on human communities or something.

2) This little theory I have is connected to first one. You knows how important the AllSpark is for cybertronian kind and it’s responsible for making new cybertronians? But in first 10 episodes there was no mention of the AllSpark at all! The only artifact they name out of loud is Emberstone which is responsible for Terran’s creation. Which makes me think that maybe the main reason by legacy cybs thinking they are the last ones not because Cyberrton is inhabitable or they can’t go back, but because they lost the artifact responsible for their creation!

And they accepted that Allspark is lost forever.

But why and what happened?

The possible idea that maybe around Bee’s death something happened, and the AllSpark got damaged or it’s energy drained and Bee was just lucky that his lifeless body was in the way of the last energy pulse that brought him back to life? Or (knowing me who wants more drama) maybe after reviving Bumblebee the AllSparks was ABSORBED by his body and went into slumber, and he has no idea. The only person (or two bc I imagined Ratchet would know) how knows what really happened is Optimus and that why he send Bumblebee away - to hide him with the AllSpark from GHOST and Decepticons. To add even more drama, some bots thinks it was Bee’s fault they lost the artifact and/or Bee feels horribly guilty about it. He failed bc he wasn’t strong and fast enough, which can nicely tie to his “midlife crisis” as Nova Storm put it. Tbh I can see how this can become focus in the second season, bc I saw news it was greenlit already which is nice! If it’s the case I will lose my mind in a good way. It’s Sparkpulse, but in different way aah!

3) The theory is what I feel about his “midlife crisis” because seeing his old alt-mode and how WELL it sits on his body just made me thinking that maybe Bee is trying to force a more powerful and faster alt-mode which doesn’t really fit. (I know there is a popular theory that it’s showing Bumblebee growing up but I won’t repeat it) But forcing the sport car onto himself comes with a compromise. I kept thinking about how thin his arms are in the current form under those big shoulder armor. With it, Bee looks nice, but take them away and you can see he looks a bit disproportionate, esp compared to much strong looking legs. I’m saying this because his old Beetle form looks a lot even and snug on him, while racing form now feel like it’s too big.  One thing I noticed way before trailer, how in episode 8 Bumblebee couldn't even pull his arm out of rocks even tho there wasn’t too many of them. Arcee came to help and crushed those rocks with ease, despite visually being smaller than Bumblebee! It plays great into his canon ofc, because he’s supposed to be the physically weakest Autobot, but I wonder if Bee right is even weaker than he was before? Also the new trailer Bee looks more agile to me while in same episode Bee easily lost his balance and fell of the cliff.

It’s a hunch, but honestly? I just want him to return to his roots and stop with all this “sport car” nonsense, he’s not Hot Rod after all xD But why Bee forces this alt-mode? Racing and speed seem became a big deal to him, maybe that how he coped with loneliness during his hiding period. This ties with my own theory that Bee works hard to prove himself and be accepted, and this would show the additional layer of heights he’s ready to go and sacrifices to make, so people would care and love him. This would be incredibly cathartic if Terrans and Maltos would ensure him that he doesn’t HAVE to do all this just to be accepted by this family. SO, that what I have for now, idk if ANY of my speculation will play out, but I would be so happy and some of that would turn out to be true~

I... ?? Listen I know you guys are all referring to IDW when ya'll say that, but BW Tarantulas was like, his own breed of fucked up and BW was for all intents and purposes a kid's show. He's not the same as IDW, but again he's got his own thing that's pretty fucky. And also like. Earthspark is really dark too? Or at least it's leading up to be??

SPOILER WARNING but uh, yeah no G.H.O.S.T is hella fucked up if you think about it for more than a minute. Everything they're doing to the cons with the memory wiping and generally how they're treated is really bad (in a good way I love this show-), and also labeling Bee a 'rouge Autobot' that they're trying to arrest, yeah not cool-

Plus. The last episode of Season 1?? Mandroid and his... EVERYTHING??? Bee having his fucking energon drained???? Did we all just forget that???????

I think they absolutely could've made Tarantulas really like, fucked if they wanted to. But I don't think they wanted that, I think they wanted a new take on his character? I mean, that's a huge part of transformers, no? Look at all the different conts and how characters change between them-

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Tarantulas was toned down due to mandates or anything, I genuinely believe they just,, wanted to put a spin on him and make him more chill and lonesome, and something of a tragic anti-hero cause,,, I dunno, they just thought it'd be neat!

Woooaaaah, okay. I just finished so assorted, unorganized Earthspark thoughts under the cut. Part 1

The things regarding the existence of the triplets that made me uncomfortable were not adressed, as expected. Still it's been long enought that I could make peace with it and was able to watch the show without wanting to throw up.

They could have done a better job of balancing the cast now that it's so crowded BUT making Twitch a big sister paired wonderfully with picking up the epiphany she had on episode 10. She's was wondeful on this batch. Love the contrast with ep 3 where she doesn't really care about Bee's training to ep 14 where she's like "we have to do drills people!!!!"

Truly the triplets are great. The problem is that this all highlights how much I don't actually care about Mo and Robby?? Like ofc the Cybertronians are gonna seem far more interesting, but also they throw me off. They kinda get the worst dialogue and then there's this thing with Mo where it feels like she acts too mature for her age some times and other too generic cute kid (at least I'm back at the English dub, because in Spanish this is worse) and it both feels pretty fake and breaks my immersion and reminds me this is not an appropiate situation for her.

Also so many moments that are too corny for me.

But I mean, this is a show for 8 year olds, Barbi, what do you expect?? (I do think Robby and Mo could have better dialogue, but otherwise it's the genre and audience. I can't complain at the steak house's poor seafood selection).

Hashtag is super fun and also her powers are extremely OP dasfdhgkjash what, how does that work? Why can she control so many things? I love the satellite ponytail. I need a IDW1-esque Thundercraker to show up and be her Cybertronian mentor.

OMG Jawbreaker is precious!!! I think it's wonderful to have him voluntarily wait on choosing an alt mode, goes against what one would expect and showcases the diversity of the Cybertronian experience. Really, I love how all the terrans have very different relationships with how they choose their alt.

Ok, so he isn't Mandroid, he doesn't get an ex BUT HE GETS A CHILD. This is even better, honestly. Everything about him is perfect. He's very unlike BW Tarantulas, but he is similar to IDW1 Tarantulas who was like BW. It's like a scale with IDW1 in the middle

Obsessed with the subtext of and older queer person bonding with a young queer, with the background of Nightshade having been raised in a different context with a supportive family. It's lovely. Tarantulas inmediately adopting Nighshade, but he's so lonely and doesn't know how to do relationships quite right. I love heeeee!!!!

I know what Roche meant about his mush now. Loved seeing that thing move.

Sadly I don't think he's gonna be eating people, he too hinged u.u But oh well, I liked this toned down version, especially because we needed more good Cons that just want to live. Really, he bothered trying to erase the Malto's memories when he could have just killed them.

They upped the cinematography to showcase that Bee and Breakdown are in love. They've always been in love. They had the interfaction romance of a lifetime, megop who?

Really, it was the best episode. Except for the fact that Taratulas exists. But the ending??? Omg.
