The Ebon King descended to save us. He cast himself into the Rift to seal it, encasing it in a tomb of wood. The doorway must be opened. He must be freed.

Here's a few questions for you. 🔴♥️🔫🐺
(from: @wolf-among-mechs)
Thank you for your questions, @wolf-among-mechs. I hope these answers will be sufficient. 🔴= there are three such factions I despise. One is a historical grudge, another is with a group who may all be dead, and the other is (partially) a faction who remain around to this day. The first is the Rim Worlds Republic, and Stefan Amaris the Usurper. They destroyed what was (for most) the Golden Age of Humanity. Was the Star League perfect? No. It fought its wars against the Periphery and deeply abused them. But it brought much good to humankind as well. The technology, the peace, the unity of it. Amaris destroyed it all for his own petty ambitions. It is with good reason he is now reviled as the worst single human being in history. The second is the Word of Blake. Much like Amaris, they tried to destroy the Inner Sphere over a petty religious argument. One that led to billions of unneeded deaths. It is telling that even after the fall of the Republic of the Sphere, the ilKhan decreed that former Knights could join a new fraternal order specially dedicated to hunting down Blakist remnants. The third is House Liao. Not the Capellans as a whole, but their ruling house. The reason for this is admittedly more personal - it was rebels professing allegiance to House Liao which killed Aaron DeChavilier, and ultimately sparked the conflict that would destroy the Star League-in-Exile. While it would lead to the creation of the Clans, the stress of the conflict led to the death of Aleksandr Kerensky, our Great Father. Is it any wonder that most people from the Clans dislike the Capellans? At least, for my part, I do try and confine the hatred to House Liao itself. ❤️= I admit, on this question of weapon preference, I am torn. I greatly enjoy the visceral concussion and punch of ballistic weapons, but the light show and (often) limitless ammunition of energy weapons appeals as well. Missiles - especially with more and more 'Mechs sporting guided missiles once again - I find almost too easy. They are useful, do not mistake my meaning, but they require much less skill than a ballistic shot or a long-range PPC hit. Has anyone invented a gun that fires lasers yet? That would be "wicked awesome" as a Terran friend of mine from Boston says. 🔫= I have trained extensively in infantry combat. All Clan warriors train in the basics of infantry combat and melee fighting. It was part of my regular between-deployment training with the Fusiliers - they had several Canopian ex-Ebon Magistrate commandos, a DEST commando, and (eventually) an ex-Manei Domini Banshee Delta to learn from. I am thus skilled with many infantry weapons, martial arts styles, and melee weapons. We even learned zero-G and underwater combat techniques.
As for what I presently carry: I have a JàrnFòlk-modified Sternsnacht Claymore ultra-heavy pistol as my sidearm. It fires 14mm tungsten-core armor-piercing explosive incendiary rounds, from a custom made 8-round extended magazine. It is a beautiful work of art, with platinum damascening, engraving in falcon-feather patterns, imperial jade inlays, and wood from Strana Mechty itself, which forms the exquisitely carved grips. I have used it to kill megasaurs, armored Elementals, and Blakist Zombie infantry alike. I have timed my draw and, even with the Claymore's somewhat excessive weight, have won quite a few formal fast-draw pistol competitions.
I also routinely carry a specially-made Clan Vibrosword. Unlike most straight-bladed models, mine uses a katana-style blade - the exact blade once gifted by my ancestor Turkina to my other ancestor, Elizabeth Hazen, during the DeChavalier Massacre - and yes, in a sense this means I have two genemothers. If you ever have occasion to visit Terra, I can show you the sacred talon-marks on the blade...
In my 'Mech, I carry two additional weapons. All SLDF 'Mechs with sufficient cockpit space will carry a Mauser & Grey Model 980SL pulse laser assault rifle - an upgraded and lightened version of the old SLDF issue Mauser 960, upgraded to Clantech standards, and using a variant of ER Pulse Laser tech from Clan Wolf. The ejection seat kit in all SLDF 'Mechs will also carry a Mauser & Grey built Model 995 "Enhanced" Gauss SMG. The Nest currently hoIds the prototypes for both weapons.
And of course, I have my talons when all else fails. Each of them has long since been upgraded, using a version of the Carbon-Fiber Reinforcement process common among Capellan nobles.
🐺= I have several pets! I keep a mew on my estate, with a breeding pair of Jade Falcons, descended from Turkina herself - I have named them Aidan and Marthe, after Aidan and Marthe Pryde. At present, there is also a snow raven in the Mew, named McKenna, after Stephen McKenna, first Khan of Clan Snow Raven. I am caring for him temporarily in place of his master, Star Commander Kendra Siegel. Kendra, a fine specimen of Snow Raven's Naval Commander phenotype, has been a friend of mine for several decades. She is currently off-world for several months, overseeing construction efforts for a classified project at the Titan Shipyards, and conducting naval exercises between Clan forces and those of the new SLDF Navy, of which she is expected to be appointed Commanding Admiral in the next few years.

So Gendry lived in a house/workplace in King’s Landing with doors of weirwood and ebony:
The man they wanted was all the way at the top of the hill, in a huge house of timber and plaster whose upper stories loomed over the narrow street. The double doors showed a hunting scene carved in ebony and weirwood. A pair of stone knights stood sentry at the entrance, armored in fanciful suits of polished red steel that transformed them into griffin and unicorn. Ned left his horse with Jacks and shouldered his way inside. -- Eddard VI, AGOT
Arya finds refuge in Braavos in a temple with doors of ebony and weirwood that becomes her home and workplace:
At the top she found a set of carved wooden doors twelve feet high. The left-hand door was made of weirwood pale as bone, the right of gleaming ebony. In their center was a carved moon face; ebony on the weirwood side, weirwood on the ebony. The look of it reminded her somehow of the heart tree in the godswood at Winterfell. The doors are watching me, she thought. -- Arya I AFFC
It even has ebony and weirwood decor:
Their tall chairs were carved of ebony and weirwood, like the doors of the temple above. The ebon chairs had weirwood faces on their backs, the weirwood chairs faces of carved ebony. -- Arya II, ADWD
And Daenerys encounters doors of ebony and weirwood in the House of the Undying:
Finally the stair opened. To her right, a set of wide wooden doors had been thrown open. They were fashioned of ebony and weirwood, the black and white grains swirling and twisting in strange interwoven patterns. They were very beautiful, yet somehow frightening. The blood of the dragon must not be afraid. Dany said a quick prayer, begging the Warrior for courage and the Dothraki horse god for strength. She made herself walk forward. -- Daenerys IV, ACOK
This door is used to trick her and hide the true path Dany is meant to go on:
She took a step forward. But then Drogon leapt from her shoulder. He flew to the top of the ebony-and-weirwood door, perched there, and began to bite at the carved wood.
“A willful beast,” laughed a handsome young man. “Shall we teach you the secret speech of dragonkind? Come, come.”
Doubt seized her. The great door was so heavy it took all of Dany’s strength to budge it, but finally it began to move. Behind was another door, hidden. It was old grey wood, splintery and plain … but it stood to the right of the door through which she’d entered. The wizards were beckoning her with voices sweeter than song. She ran from them, Drogon flying back down to her. Through the narrow door she passed, into a chamber awash in gloom. -- Daenerys IV, ACOK
What does this mean? I don't know. But it's interesting.

been doing some rendering practice. strade's knife was done a few weeks ago and fox's was done last night! It's wild how much you can improve over such a short time.
fox and strade belong to gatobob ! also i love doing research into things so. headcanons under the cut
Strade's hunting knife has an ebonized wood handle and stainless steel blade. Ebonized wood gives it a more 'valuable' look to it, without being as expensive as real ebony wood, which also makes it relatively easy to replace. Stainless steel is harder to break or chip, and doesn't typically stain. It's probably something he found at his local hardware store.
On the other hand,
Fox's Karambit has a G-10 handle and a carbon steel blade. G-10 is a high pressure fiberglass laminate that insulates electricity well and is resistant to chemicals. It's also extremely durable! So while it still might get a bit scratched up by Fox's claws, it wouldn't be absolutely shredded by them. Carbonized Steel is less durable than Stainless, and thus it scratches, stains, and is more prone to breaking and chipping. But it's much sharper, and I feel like it's fitting for Fox due to his controlled nature- it's requires less pressure for him to cut into someone than with a stainless blade, and not to mention it's a lot less likely that a victim would be able to fight back enough to get the chance to break/chip the blade. Visually, I feel like it fits him more too especially since it looks a lot more 'refined', 'aged' and I like the parallel of Fox's many scars, and his knife having a bunch of scratches. It's definitely custom made.

If you got to put Anevay into WoW, how would you handle her?
Give her a Post-BFA story involving her disassociation from the Horde. Make her a character the player can interact with to a level not seen before, but also make her difficult to get along with or empathize with.
If you did, however, then at the end she'll challenge you to a duel in Tirisfal Glades. Just a 1v1 bout. And this would be WoW's equivalent to Lingering Will. An extremely difficult fight that pushes your class to its limit, and changes depending on your class (because Anevay has experience fighting everything at this point).
You could re-challenge it any time you wanted at no cost, no durability loss, and with your cooldowns reset every time. Just go to Tirisfal Glades and try again.
The first time you beat her, you complete her story and she gives you a cosmetic weapon transmog from her collection (she's been around a lot and collected quite the arsenal of deadly weapons) based on your class that, when equipped or transmogged, has a cosmetic effect on one of your abilities.
Death Knight - Shadowmourne (HD Version)
This horrible mourneblade was crafted by the Knights of the Ebon Blade to wield against Arthas. Anevay was chosen to use it against him, and afterwards kept it in her vault to never be touched again.
Effect - Lichborne will cause the Forgeborne Reveries effect for 24 Hours.
Demon Hunter - Death-Touched Warblade
One of Anevay's many warblades, this one was blessed by the Banshee Queen herself. Anevay replaced it with Tal'Zaram, but kept it for sentimental reasons.
Effect - Fel Rush and Infernal Strike use death effects, and cause the player to have Banshee tendrils for 24 hours.
Evoker - Chromie's Locket
Chromie was a dear friend of Anevay, though like most of Anevay's friends she drifted away as Anevay became increasingly bitter. Their friendship ultimately shattered due to Anevay's continued tormenting of Teldrassil's survivors. Anevay seems almost eager to give this locket away.
Effect - Soaring will have Bronze Dragon sand magic effects.
Hunter - Livewood Longbow
This bow was carved out of one of the last pieces of livewood, wood taken from Thas'alah, after the Fall. It still possesses traces of the Mother Tree's power though there are hints of the Scourge's corruption within. It's not nearly as powerful as Thas'dorah, it is still one of the most expertly carved bows you've ever seen.
Effect - Steady Shot and Auto Attacks will have nature tints to them, while Aimed Shot and Cobra Shot will have death tints to them.
Effect (Blood Elves Only) - Several bow attacks and Disengage will use Sylvanas' unique bow animations.
Mage - Vial of Sunwell Water (Off Hand)
Taken from the Sunwell before it's poisoning, it's among the last remaining relics of the original Sunwell. Because of Anevay's distaste for the Sunwell, it is unknown why she kept this.
Effect - Fire Spells are now blue.
Monk - Lorewalker's Staff
This staff was gifted to Anevay by Lorewalker Cho, who she developed a close friendship with in Pandaria. Anevay has not seen Cho since, and like most of her friends she has largely avoided doing so.
Effect - Zen Flight will play one of Cho's stories if you fly for longer than 10 seconds.
Rogue - Sidearm (Dagger with identical 1H variant)
This dagger is of Pre-Fall Thalassian make, painted green and gold of the Farstriders. It was standard issue for Ranger Captains, and the paint is chipped in places. It also carries the unmistakeable scent of Blight.
Effect - Shadowstep animation has a ghostly flash step effect
Paladin - Ranger's Warblade (2H and 1H Variants)
A standard issue Ranger's warblade, this weapon is balanced to be wielded in one or both hands. As part of it's creation, it was blessed in the Sunwell's waters. It's been repaired and maintained quite extensively, and is one of the last weapons remaining to have been blessed by the Pre-Light Sunwell.
Effect - Light effects on several attacks and healing spells are replaced with Arcane effects.
Priest - Tome of Prayers to Belore
Before the Sunwell became a beacon of Light, the Priests of Silvermoon prayed to the sun, calling it Belore. As the Blood Knights lost their faith, they discarded many of their holy texts. Anevay preserved this one for posterity's sake, though she was never a spiritual woman herself. She saw the worship of the Naaru to be Alliance assimilation. It was said she quite enjoyed speaking to the Tauren about the differences between Belore and An'she.
Effect - Spirit of Redemption takes the form of an Elven avatar of Belore.
Effect - Levitate will grant wings of sunlight for 24 hours.
Shaman - String of Grisly Trophies (Off hand with Shield Variant, but appears around neck)
Anevay was particularly ruthless in combat, and often took trophies from high profile kills. This grisly necklace contains ears taken from Amani Trolls, Humans, and Night Elves. It's unsettling, though not surprising. Anevay was vocal about her detestation of the three.
Effect - In Ghost Wolf form, the spirits of Anevay's prey will ride on your back and talk about the fights that killed them.
Warlock - Singed Bough of Teldrassil
This scorched bough of the World Tree was recovered by Anevay and fashioned into a walking stick. The bough is a testament to Anevay's utter lack of remorse for the Burning of Teldrassil.
Effect - Fire spells will have ghostly effects and Kaldorei screams added to them.
Effect - Tyrande Whisperwind will react to the staff with absolute disgust.
Warrior - Tal'Zaram (Identical 1H and 2H variants)
This Warblade is crafted from Saronite and Titansteel. It is extremely sharp, extremely durable, and has felled more deadly enemies than every other mythical weapon on Azeroth combined. It was a gift from Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner for Anevay's loyalty in Gilneas and is teeming with death magic.
Effect - Intimidating Shout causes a Banshee's Wail and causes the Warrior to sprout smoke tendrils from her back for 24 Hours.
