Adam loved Lucifer. He loved Lilith too but Lucifer was the one he bonded to first, mainly because, try as he might, there was little to no bond romantic-wise for him and Lilith. Lilith was more mature than Adam while Adam was more playful, like a puppy.

Lucifer was the one who Adam interacted with the most at first and the two were inseparable. Adam's happiest memories in the garden was naming animals with Lucifer. He tried getting Lilith to join, but she ventured off....Adam not seeing the look both Lucifer and Lilith seemed to have for each other.

Adam as he is now is so antagonistic because nobody tried to help him cope with his pain when he was taken to Heaven. He had lost his wife, his sons, his home, his best friend betrayed him and his ex-wife poisoned Eve.

Add seeing all his descendants die horrible deaths in the flood, and not one made it to heaven to be with him....

It broke him. It completely broke him, filling him with bitterness after seeing Lucifer and Lilith sitting like royalty, laughing at his sorrow, mocking him, sipping wine while taunting him about his dead kids.

Adam's rage burned like fire and while he couldn't hurt Lucifer or Lilith....he could make them suffer loss like he did a thousand times more.
