I really like the idea of Tommy and Eddie falling through in a storytelling way, not in a negative, Ryan’s an anti way.

More like he’s the #1 buddie shipper and he knows that the only man Eddie Diaz is ever going to want to kiss, date become involved with, is Buck.

Like it makes so much more sense for their story to be playing out this way, even if Buck and Eddie aren’t together yet.

That’s way Ryan was “unwilling”

To the writers and show runners, he’s like ; Make his girlfriend a nun. Give me a cringey hetro monologue. Move her in and kick her out in the same episode but Eddie Diaz would never kiss another man.

But Buck would, while trying to discover more about himself. Driving into situations, head first, is kinda his thing.

It feels more genuine to the story and the characters.

Even those who never believed Buddie would be canon before, changing their mind with the new promotions.

A Cry for Help

You were met at the door by a worried Christopher. He pulled you to his dad’s door.

“What’s happening, buddy? Are you ok?” You ask, cupping his face to make eye contact with him.

“he won’t come out, I keep calling but he won’t answer” he said

“Ok, why don’t you go to your room and watch a movie and I’ll go get your dad?” You ask him.

“Ok” he said and went to his room.

You knocked on the door.

“Eddie, honey, its me, what’s going on?” You said threw the door, you got no answer.

“Baby, can you let me in?” You ask, more like pleading.

“Alright I’m coming in, back up” you warn.

You step back and kick the door. It takes you 2 tries and you are in the room. You take in the destruction.

“Eddie?” You call out his name, “Eddie?”

You hear a cry, a sound you hope never to hear again. He sounded so broken. You search the destroyed room for Eddie. You find him at the foot of his bed hugging a baseball bat. You run over to him.

“Eddie” you say, feeling so heartbroken.

“Hey, hey, baby, what happened? What’s going on?” You asked worried.

“They’re all dead, they’re all dead” he mutters through tears.

“Baby, whose dead?” You asked full of worry.

“Everybody that I saved”

“They’re all dead” he said, this time with a little more anger.

“They’re all dead, they’re all dead” he whispered in pain. He gave you a look of fear, and hopelessness.

“Oh, Eddie!” You slide in the floor next to him. You wrap your arm around his shoulder. He lays his head on your chest and starts to cry. After a little bit, he seems to have calmed down. You make your way to the living room.

You go to check on Christopher. You leave his room and say “ok sweetie, if you need us we are out here, ok? I love you”

“Is he ok?” Eddie ask, looking out the window.

“He’s still scared but he’s not alone in that” you say

“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to scare him… or you” he says rubbing the bridge of his nose.

“I just kind of” he lets out a staggered breath “kind of lost it”

“I know, but why?” You ask.

“I was supposed to reach out the some people I served with.” He says, “as part of my therapy”

“Oh, I wasn’t aware you still talked to any of them” you reply. He walks over and sit down next to you.

“Truth is, I didn’t” he says leaning his head down into his hands and resting his elbows on his knees.

“I haven’t talked to any of them since I moved out here,” he says. “ I pulled 4 people out of that chopper alive”

“Cheif died in country a couples years later, the rest of us made it home safe” he says.

“So what happened to the rest?” You say scooting over to him. He proceeds to tell you about the rest of the team he worked with. He turns and looks at you for the first time since you got there.

“I pulled them out but I didn’t save them.” He confesses.

“So thats why you took a baseball bat to everything?” You ask nodding towards his room.

“I’m afraid.” He says grabbing your hand into his.

“Oh honey, what are afraid of?” You ask, placing your other hand over his.

“That I’m never going to feel normal again” he says, he lets go of your hand and wraps his arms around your waist he leans in and put his head down into your stomach and cries.

After about 20 minutes he falls asleep. You go to get up and move but he stops you.

“Please don’t go, stay please” he begs. He moves up onto the couch and lays down he leaves some room for you to curl up into his arms. You fall asleep holding each other.

I'm sorry but like the framing!!!!!! Like the way that they are already setting up the tension that will be in next episode between Buck, Eddie, and Tommy. Like they literally had Tommy step up in between Buck and Eddie while they were all watching Bobby and Athena be the absolute cutest. He is standing between them, coming between them, causing tension and is an obstacle between them.

I'm obsessed. I can't wait for next episode.

fuck it so here's some art inspired by my fic Alright, Cowboy, Go Get 'Em. As some of you know I've been moving back home to NZ the past week and for even longer than that been struggling to write so here's some art instead (pls be nice I haven't drawn/done art for a while) If you've read the fic you know the significance of the chaps 😜:

“What can I get you?” The bartender asks as Eddie slides up to the bar. “Whiskey, neat, thanks” “Make that two” A voice says from beside him, Eddie turns and takes in a black leather protection vest that’s undone over a bright blue button-down shirt. He drags his eyes up, over pale skin, an adam apple and stubble to blue eyes a shade or two lighter than his shirt. His white cowboy hat is back on, it makes the pink mark on his eyebrow stand out. There's a small smirk on his lips that Eddie does not linger on. “Evan Buckley,” He says, holding out his hand. Eddie clears his throat, “Eddie Diaz” He says shaking the offered hand, noticing the callous and firm grip before pulling back. OR What if Eddie had never left El Paso? What if Buck became a bull rider after being a ranch hand? After Eddie gets back from Afghanistan and Shannon divorces him some of his high school buddies decided to drag him to the rodeo to cheer him up. I don’t think they had in mind Eddie getting blown by a rodeo star behind the stable but it sure did improve his mood. Now Eddie can’t get Buck out of his mind and he might just become a rodeo regular.
