the thing about chip is that he's a little too unassuming. an orphan kid with no name and no memory of anything beforehand, yet is old enough to beg to join the black rose pirates. sure, you can believe it, even if the other orphan aboard definitely has a name
that orphan kid then goes on to survive the hole in the sea, amongst few who lived and made swift recoveries, but unlike lizzie he had no protector, and unlike roofus he was a child, only nine. alone in the recently corrupted black sea and with no magic, he managed to make his way to land, which we've learnt is at least a few days travel when on a ship. he didn't drown, or freeze, and he doesn't seem to remember it. it's odd. almost impossible, you could say. but fine, we move on
with gillion and jay, he's so clearly the odd one out. standing between the chosen one and a descendent of the sun, he seems out of place (especially from a meta perspective). but even then, fine, it's probably just meant to be funny
but then there's all the other things. out of the three deals we've seen, he's the only one who's found niklaus rather than vice versa. he slipped through a dream into the realm of who we can only imagine to be one of the most powerful people in mana. and you have to remember he didn't possess any magic until after the feywild. the deal happened after joaldo
he's undead now. his heart was ripped out, his flesh is decaying, but he lives. sure, the other crew members of captain widow were technically undead too, but the fact remains true that this is unusual. the undead thing lead to him following the compass (which is something else i'll get into, because doesn't he seem oddly interested in it yet unaffected) into that sack where he met with niklaus for a second time, the only riptide pc we've seen met him more than once. and the wish doctor seemed more than happy to share some of his secrets with chip
now the compass. it's made by niklaus, linked to desire, and when ollie used it just a few times in joaldo it had instant effects. chip keeps looking at the compass, so much so that it's now magically increased his desire to find arlin, and yet he's had no other effects
when he made the deal with niklaus, his price seemed hardly anything. "don't interfere". it doesn't exactly align with gillion's favour or jay's name and a command she must obey. also it technically gave him two things: knowledge of arlin's whereabouts, and reverting the effects on ollie. and once again niklaus shared more of his plans with chip than any other captain. like he trusts him, almost
inexplicably, chip can speak celestial. a language which just so happens to be key to unlocking all these clues surrounding the hole in the sea (the map, the door in the place beneath the sea as well iirc). jay's understanding of primordial is explained by navy lessons (makes sense if they're dealing with the undersea), but chip's celestial never is
and now the place beneath the sea -- where the cumagoon (do i have to write that in a serious analysis post?), now unlocked by the compass, led -- a voice welcomed him home
i think chip's more deeply connected to the black sea than even he has ever considered. it runs much deeper than simply the loss of arlin and the black rose pirates. i think he, like niklaus, is intrinsically tied to the entity known as the nameless prince, and thereby the egg. he might be more significant magically than we previously thought

Kind of amazed that we got 100% confirmation that yes, a cc disconnecting (or at least, being forcibly disconnected) indeed leaves their sleeping body on the spot.
I mean, for the longest time, the only concrete example for this were the egg beds, and the fact that some people rped about them 'dragging' someone else's body around because they couldn't participate in an important story beat... but overall there was a bit of a doubt about wether or not they just pop out of existence, canonically.
And the fact that we SAW the characters' physical bodies ON THE FLOOR, and the fact that the Federation HAS control over this, preventing people from waking up... it's a big deal to me
It reminds me of the convo Pomme had about how on the day Etoiles fought the code impersonating her, she was asleep, she KNEW she was asleep and she wanted to wake up, but couldn't... and how it freaked her out.
Feels like there's something there...

So we all know Pomme and Richas disappeared before the testing started, and I remember seeing someone say that they went to Purgatory for the rescue without Phil
But I raise you one better
They went to GET Phil
They are currently dragging his unconscious ass to a boat and leaving as we speak
He's gonna wake up and it'll basically be like

It would be SO fuckin funny

Every detail I caught about revived q!Tubbo:
Sensitive to noise
Changes the subject a lot
Aggressive tendencies such as yelling
Uncontrollable emotions
Yearns to do something valuable
hates wasting precious time on unimportant things
possibly insecure?? always wants to know how people feel about him/if they hate him
has an urge to know who the residents think the worst parent is
Wants to be in control at all times
slight issues with memories (nothing drastic)
yearns for things to change
Isn't afraid of challenging authority
Murderous tendencies
Sense of justice
Knows something about q!Hideduo (they have "limited time")
What I've noticed is that most of these qualities are normal to qTubbo, but we can clearly tell that this person isn't the one from before.
He has the same skin, the same personality, the same connections with people, but he is the exaggerated version of the previous qTubbo.
He is quite literally just a carbon copy, a clone, recovered data. He is as if something tore apart the body and rebuilt it piece by piece. This is qTubbo, but with the incorrect formula.
We all know qTubbo is sick and tired of people taking things from him and pushing him around, that he loved his daughter, that he has low self-esteem and that he has plans for things, but those are just qTubbo's thoughts and feelings. After the revival it's as if qTubbo (instead of treating them like simple thoughts and wants) he is treating them like instructions.
"They WILL pay, they WILL learn, things WILL change" instead of "I want them to stop, I want things to change."
This qTubbo is just backed up data, nothing else. Its a shell that is acting like what qTubbo is, but it doesn't quite get it right. And we are not getting him back because this is him restored with backup data and ancient stone and it will continue to live on
(however I am very scared for the eggs and other residents because this tubbo doesn't really seem scared of anything, like he kept yelling and chayanne and even hit him so lets hope that it gets at least a little better lol)

contenders for the evil goopy entity locked away in the place beneath the sea that's gonna be released according to the prophecy:
- niklaus (deals make people goopy when they're corrupted. whole thing is desire, which is also the whole thing of the place beneath the sea. same colour scheme. gives bbeg vibes on occasion)
- the doctor/dr ooze (goopy guy. was introduced a short time after goobleck found out about a world eating prince who's probably the nameless prince, suggests this could be the prince guy. went to mana, not specified when or where)
- chip (probably not, but was welcomed home by the prison place and is intrinsically linked to the black sea. was there the first time, is here again now)

As You Are He
Tumblr media
My favorite time to drive is generally between 4 and 6 am. There is hardly any other traffic on the road during those hours which means less opportunity for me to get upset at the way other people are driving.
A while back I picked up a young man from an industrial setting in the wee hours of the morning.
People aren’t usually talkative at that time of day, especially during the week. The reason for this is that they are either bracing themselves for a full day of work or are getting off a long night of work. This particular gentleman, however, was friendly and open to conversation. It’s obvious when someone is willing to talk. Generally, after they get in and I tell them good morning, they’ll ask a question. Something like, “How’s your morning going?” or “Gotten many rides this morning?” Without exception I will pounce on the opportunity to converse. I have an innate intrigue with everyone and their backstory, but conversation also makes the ride go exceptionally faster.
We only talked for a few moments before it became obvious we had some things in common. Namely the way we look at and approach life. That is to say curiously, if not suspiciously. If I remember right, it progressed quickly to some half joking reference by one of us to the movie “The Matrix.” The Matrix, I’ve found, is a fairly accurate barometer for feeling someone out. If they prefer to wade in the shallower end of the pool, they’ll laugh and either fall silent or just change the topic. If, however, they spend any amount of time questioning the nature of reality and what we think we know about any and everything, they’ll seize the opportunity to dive headfirst into the deep end. This man chose to dive.
After I touched on some things I’m currently into and learning about, he asked me if I’d ever heard of the “egg theory.” Shaking my head, I looked in the rear-view mirror and told him no. What he explained sounded something like a form of reincarnation, but given that it had its own name and some random stranger was sitting in my back seat talking about it, I assumed there had to be more to it. As soon as he got out of the car, roughly fifteen minutes from the time I picked him up, I typed “egg theory” into the notes on my phone so that I could revisit it. A few days later I remembered the conversation and typed it into google.
“The Egg” is a short story written by a man named Andy Weir in 2009. It’s a very brief read, and presented primarily in the form of a dialogue between you and God, immediately following your death in a car accident. I don’t want to spoil every detail, but it plays with the notion that every time we die, we are reborn into another person that has or will exist throughout history. It doesn’t happen in chronological order, and the process will continue until you have lived every life that has ever existed on earth, accumulating their experiences and knowledge in the process. You are unaware this is happening while you are “alive,” and once you are done, you will ascend to a deity like status. In essence, the universe is an egg, whereby we are growing and will eventually hatch into another form of being.
A couple blogs ago, I referenced near death experiences, a topic I will likely revisit often. One of the reoccurring themes on the other side in NDE’s is the discovery of an interconnectedness we all have. The first couple times I heard this mentioned in an experiencer’s account, I thought it sounded overly cliché, but the more NDE’s I listened to, the more I began hearing it from a diverse group of individuals with varying pre-death beliefs and backgrounds. They weren’t just saying actions have a “ripple effect,” but that it goes even deeper than that. Like on a molecular or quantum level. According to these people, who have legitimately died and been uploaded with knowledge we seem to have once possessed and will possess again, when we do something to someone else, we are literally doing it to ourselves. It would seem that at least unintentionally, that’s the notion that the author of the “egg theory” is toying with. Everyone operating in that system is just a different version of the same person, so we are constantly interacting with ourselves. Whatever you do to someone else, you are literally doing to yourself.
For even the most zealous person of faith, in a monotheistic sense, this isn’t incompatible with their belief system. Not necessarily the egg theory itself, but the concept of literal interconnectedness. If you believe in a singular creator, then we all derive from the same source. No matter what we are made of or instilled with, our origin is the same. That’s true for pretty much any atheistic belief as well. Whether you consider us star dust or the breath of God, we each derived from the same place.
This concept can be found across all cultures and religions throughout time. In a philosophical sense, it may be referred to as the “Ethics of Reciprocity,” but one popular version of it is called “The Golden Rule.” It goes, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” While those words are valuable council even on a surface level, they take on another layer of meaning when one applies the aforementioned concepts. You are literally doing unto yourself anytime you do unto another. Even if just in a quantum sense, whereby we all originate from a singular source and retain a level of energy connectedness, we are still doing to ourselves on some physical level.
The ego seems to be a major problem for the ethics of reciprocity. I often wonder why we were allowed to have it, or why it was allowed to take the dominant role in our lives and behavior that it does. The ego seeks to serve the self, and approaches life from the vantage point of the individual’s wants and needs. That is, unless that’s the point of life. To identify the ego as problematic and then work to suppress it for the good of the collective. It seems so obvious.
Unless, of course, the universe is just an egg.
The UBeerOsopher
And now…a haiku:
if all that matters
could be fit into an egg
we’d just scramble it

We got the names of more Federation departments to add to the list!! 🎉 here’s all of the ones we know now:
Census Bureau
Design Bureau
Genetics Department
Department of Convivial Condition Observation
Department of Subsistence Monitoring
Department of Permanence Surveillance
Department of System Analysis
now I’m gonna try and break down the new egg ones
“convivial condition” basically means “happiness condition.” remember how with the original eggs at the beginning it was meant to be a test for the parents, where the happiest egg by the end would win them a prize? its changed since then, but the federation has continued to observe the eggs’ happiness levels (like with the cookies) and also use them to observe the happiness of the islanders/keep them in check
“subsistence” means to survive by one’s own support. considering how pomme and tallulah were just left in the wall alone for who knows how long struggling to survive, this makes sense. probably to see how an egg left in a condition like that would develop- this does imply the hope egg, who was also left alone to survive, is the deceased member of that group. and yes these eggs are also probably used to take note of islander ability too
“permanence” is the state of being stable and long-lasting. em sunny and pepito were stuck on hellish purgatory island and lived. their conditions are being monitored as a result, and they are currently being used to “stabilize” all the traumatized parents (especially the ones who had lost an egg before)
system analysis is pretty self-explanatory. analyzing the system of the experiment/island processes, for further development. it’s different from observation, monitoring, and surveillance. though I’m not sure what that means for richas and the unknown egg or why they’re glitching, it’s worrying
