Powering Up Your Space: The Importance of Electrical Remodeling Services
Tumblr media
As homeowners embark on remodeling projects to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of their living spaces, one aspect that should not be overlooked is electrical remodeling. From updating outdated wiring to installing energy-efficient lighting systems, electrical remodeling services play a crucial role in modernizing homes and ensuring safety, efficiency, and comfort. In this article, we explore the significance of electrical remodeling services and the benefits they offer to homeowners.
Ensuring Safety and Compliance
Electrical safety is paramount in any home, and outdated or faulty wiring can pose serious risks such as electrical fires, shocks, and damage to appliances. Electrical remodeling services involve inspecting, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems to meet current safety standards and building codes. By addressing potential hazards and ensuring compliance with regulations, homeowners can safeguard their families and property from electrical accidents and liabilities.
Enhancing Functionality and Convenience
Electrical remodeling allows homeowners to customize their homes according to their evolving needs and lifestyles. Whether it's adding additional outlets, installing USB charging ports, or upgrading to smart home automation systems, electrical remodels enhance the functionality and convenience of living spaces. By incorporating modern electrical solutions, homeowners can streamline daily tasks, improve energy efficiency, and enhance overall comfort and convenience.
Improving Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is a key consideration for homeowners seeking to reduce utility costs and minimize their environmental footprint. Electrical remodeling services include upgrading to energy-efficient lighting fixtures, appliances, and electrical systems that consume less energy and reduce electricity bills. LED lighting, programmable thermostats, and energy-efficient appliances are just a few examples of upgrades that can significantly lower energy consumption and contribute to sustainable living.
Modernizing Aesthetics and Design
Electrical remodeling services play a vital role in enhancing the aesthetics and design of homes. By incorporating stylish lighting designs, accent lighting, and architectural lighting solutions, homeowners can create ambiance, highlight architectural features, and enhance the overall visual appeal of their living spaces. From pendant lights and recessed lighting to under-cabinet lighting and landscape lighting, electrical remodels offer endless possibilities for transforming the look and feel of interiors and exteriors.
Increasing Property Value
Investing in electrical remodeling not only improves the functionality and aesthetics of homes but also increases their resale value. Homes with updated electrical systems and modern amenities are more attractive to potential buyers and command higher prices in the real estate market. Whether it's preparing a home for sale or enhancing its long-term value, electrical remodeling services offer a high return on investment and contribute to the overall marketability of properties.
Electrical remodeling services are essential for homeowners seeking to modernize their homes, improve safety, functionality, and energy efficiency, and enhance their overall living experience. From ensuring safety and compliance to enhancing aesthetics and property value, electrical remodels offer a wide range of benefits that make them a worthwhile investment for homeowners. By partnering with qualified electricians and contractors, homeowners can transform their living spaces into safe, efficient, and stylish environments tailored to their needs and preferences.

“SEVEN YEARS WITH LASHES FOR M. SIMONS,” Brantford Expositor. November 4, 1932. Page 6. ---- Justice Moved Swiftly for Brantford Jewel Thief ---- His Wife Is Under Arrest Here Pending Investigation ---- Justice moved with bewildering speed to-day for Milton Simons, Brantford man, who was captured here yesterday, after robbing Land’s jewelry store at Hamilton of $2500 in jewels and cash. Pleading guilty to two charges of robbery while armed, he was sentenced to-day to seven years in Portsmouth penitentiary on each charge, the terms to run concurrently, and to receive 12 lashes six to be inflicted at the end of three months and six at the end of six months.
On a charge of stealing a taxicab, Simons pleaded not guilty. The charge was changed to one of taking a car without the consent of the owner and Simons was sentenced to six months which will be concurrent with the other terms.
Simons’ appearance in court today marked the end of his brief crime trail. He stalked into the jewelry store early yesterday, held up the clerk and a Montreal salesman, grabbed 32 diamond rings, three watches, and more than $100 in cash, and then left the store after tying up the clerk and salesman.
He entered the waiting automobile and drove towards Brantford. En-route he forced the taxi-driver to leave the automobile and then continued his wild flight. Outside Brantford, he ran into a cordon of policemen who had been awaiting his appearance and 45 minutes after the robbery was en route back to Hamilton under guard.
WIFE ARRESTED Mrs. Elsie Simons, wife of Milton (“Nick”) Simons, was arrested here at a local hotel yesterday following the capture of Simons, alleged jewelry robber and holdup man here, earlier in the day.
The woman appeared before Magistrate S A Jones charged with vagrancy and at the request of Chief Stanley was remanded in custody for ten days until the chief satisfies himself about the valuable jewelry found in her possession.
Mrs. Simons, who gave her address as 212 Bay street, Hamilton, and who is stated to have lived in Chicago before she married Simons, has a fine wardrobe. Her appearance in court this morning bore out the statement of the police that she possessed plenty of very good and fashionable clothes. A white hat with white short fur coat and salmon pink and white dress made her conspicuous in the drab surroundings. Seated next to a local Indian woman arrested as a drunk, she presented a distinct contrast.
Mrs. Simons was interrogated by the police but appeared guarded in her statements regarding her husband and herself. Local relatives did not know of her presence here. She came to this city early yesterday morning, and police suspect this was part of a plan the pair made the night previous to the robbery. Police thought she might have been here to receive the stolen property.
Chief Stanley notified provincial officers and headquarters of city police in this country of the possession of the jewelry. Last evening Detectives Waterhouse and Strohn of Toronto came to the city to see if the jewelry was part of some recent hauls made in Toronto. They were not able to identify any of the goods taken from Mrs. Simons.
While Chief Stanley did not divulge the reason why he thought so he stated that he suspected the jewelry found in the possession of Mrs. Simons was stolen in Kansas City.
In the intervening ten days the police will send out a description of the jewelry and expect to have something definite.
It is also expected here that Mrs. Simons will be re-arrested by the Hamilton police as an accomplice in the robbery with which her husband is charged.
[AL: Simons was 29, married, had a long criminal history with sentences served in the Ohio State Reformatory and Michigan State Reformatory, was apparently trained as an electrician, and had a dagger tattoo on his left arm and shield with two clover leaves on his right. At Kingston Penitentiary, he was convict #2844 and actually ended up working in the electrician’s gang, but his conduct became increasingly irrational and he was considered in early 1934 to be mentally ill. He was transferred to Rockwood Mental Hospital shortly thereafter, and was ‘cured’ because he was back at the penitentiary by July 1936. He was released October 1937.]

The option to downsize was not an option for the empty nesters who have resided in this home for over twenty-five years. Situated in a prestigious neighbourhood in Montreal, the sprawling residence has been the venue for many social events, dinner parties and family gatherings. With grandchildren on the way, the homeowners elected to embark on a renovation that included several rooms in the home. The objective was to inject a modern aesthetic into a new kitchen, library, master bedroom and en suite, while respecting the classic architectural details throughout the rest of the home.
The kitchen had been relocated to the garage in a previous renovation, which presented several design challenges. Low concrete ceilings, ventilation ducts and cinderblock walls required diligence in achieving a plan that would create the illusion of height and light. Sombre cabinetry from the previous kitchen gave way to a brighter palette of white and bleached butternut. White surface-mounted monopoints add architectural interest and juxtapose a sculptural suspension with an industrial influence, over the dining table. Concealed LED strips add ambient lighting for evenings.
Creating a highly efficient space for cooking and an atmosphere conducive to entertaining both large and intimate gatherings were the primary design criteria for the kitchen. The floor to ceiling matte white cabinetry conceal appliances and an abundance of storage, while providing contrast to the warm hues of the blonde wood. Handle free cabinetry maintains a minimal design while an integrated ash butcher block in the island allows two people to simultaneously prep meals.
Floating wood picture rails create a mini-gallery that enable the homeowners, avid art collectors, to easily display and interchange different pieces of art at various times.
Walls were relocated on the second-floor plan and reconfigured to include a library, spacious closets, and a luxurious en suite of dramatic proportions. The custom teak library leading into the master bedroom, stores a prolific collection of drawings and art books. To eliminate the feeling of separate rooms, all door openings were raised to full height and maximum widths.
The minimal design of the master bedroom marries old and new, and is anchored by white oak engineered floors. A shortage of closet space had previously forced the homeowners to use other bedroom closets for storage. Reclaiming a third of the library, created a spacious walk-in closet for her, and a generous wall of closets for him in the master bedroom.
Large white oak panels dominate the bedroom and wrap around the partition wall into the master en suite. Consistent materials create a visual flow and unify the two rooms as a single volume. The en suite is easily accessed from two entries, with full-height pocket doors providing privacy as needed.
Spacious yet intimate, the master en suite features materials selected for their respective organic compositions, which enhance an inviting atmosphere. Oversized porcelain tiles maintain classic characteristics in a modern format. The veining of each tile was scrutinized in advance of the installation to ensure both a sense of movement and a seamless flow between the walls and floors. Radiant floors transition seamlessly into the European shower and towards a concealed linear drain.

Les 3 Principaux Appareils Électroménagers Nécessitant des Protecteurs Contre les Surtensions
Tumblr media

Getty Images circa 1931: Men working on the cast steel frame of the new Cunard liner at Clydebank (the future Queen Mary).
From the Montreal Gazette on February 25, 1931:
WORK ON CUNARDER EMPLOYS MANY MEN
______
Nearly 250,000 Expected to Benefit Indirectly From 73,000-Ton Contract
_______
Considerable interest is being aroused by the latest progress report on the new 73,000-ton Cunard liner, which should be launched from the shipyards of John Brown & Co., Limited, early next summer. It is expected that she will be completed and delivered to her owners before September, 1933. The keel has been laid and hull plates have been cut and prepared for placing in position.
About two thousand workers will be engaged on the construction of this liner at Clydebank by the end of this year, the majority of whom will be employed steadily until the contract is completed. Another thousand should be provided with work in the shipyard itself from time to time, bringing the total to 3,000 actually being engaged in building the ship. It is estimated, however, that nearly a quarter of a million persons will benefit directly or indirectly as a result of the order placed by the Cunard Steamship Company for this, the largest liner in the world.
Apart from men in the shipyard, thousands will be engaged in making hull and boiler plates, and in supplying internal fittings for berths, cabins and public rooms. Over four hundred beds will be required, 30,000 pieces of silverware have been ordered, 60,000 pieces of cutlery will be fashioned in Sheffield, and the chinaware and glassware are expected to stimulate trade in the pottery industry. Electricians will have to thread over a hundred miles of cables and wires through the ship, while joiners, upholsterers, marble workers, plumbers, and a host of other tradesmen will be employed to supply their quota of essential or luxury appointments. It is estimated that $15,000,000 will be expended in subcontracts.
In addition to labor engaged in building the ship and in providing equipment, the Clyde Trustees are spending about $400,000 in widening and deepening the river to facilitate the launch and despatch [sic] of this mammoth vessel. The Southern Railway Company are building a graving dock at Southampton specially for her accommodation, which will be 1,200 feet in length, 45 feet wide and have an entrance width of 135 feet. Both these tasks will absorb many workers.

Know the different types of plumber companies in Montreal
A plumbing company is a business that provides services or products related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems.
Several different companies offer professional plumbers in the United States, Canada and some parts of Europe. These companies may also provide other related products and services such as hydro-jetting equipment, water heaters, or toilet repair. The industry is typically highly regulated due to public health hazards involved with faulty plumbing installations.
In the United States and Canada, professional plumbers are self-employed contractors who own their company, employ a small number of employees and may subcontract out work to other plumbing companies. Plumber in Montreal usually work together with electricians and carpenters to turn the designs created by architects into reality. In most instances, these clients require the services of a licensed contractor. Professional plumbers in the United States are self-employed, non-union contractors. These contractors typically utilize a licensed design professional to create plans for their projects.
A professional plumber in the United States will oversee the installation, servicing, and maintenance of residential and commercial plumbing systems. Plumbers are also referred to as tailors or installers responsible for installing and maintaining all sinks, toilets, showers, and central plumbing systems such as water towers within their region(s).

In 1998, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) amassed enough evidence, and was arrested at his Woodbridge, Ontario home. In 2000, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, but in 2008, was extradited to Italy to serve his sentence there.
In 1968, Alfonso Caruana arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with $100 in his pocket pretending to be an electrician. Ten years later he was stopped at the international airport of Zürich, Switzerland with $600,000 in a suitcase. He was released after paying a fee.[1]
When the Caruanas and Cuntreras moved to Montreal in the mid-1960s, they became affiliated with Nicolo Rizzuto and his son, Vito Rizzuto. They began to work together in drug trafficking activities.
In the 1970s Caruana, together with his brothers Gerlando Caruana and Pasquale Caruana had to leave Montreal for Caracas in Venezuela because of a conflict with the Cotroni crime family. In 1978, Cotroni family boss Paolo Violi was killed, and they returned to Canada; the Rizzuto crime family subsequently took over.[2] Caruana also acquired Canadian citizenship in 1978.[3]
At the beginning of the 1980s, Alfonso established himself near Lugano in a luxurious villa, supervising the laundering of the proceeds of heroin-trafficking. The funds were deposited in Canadian banks and channelled through Swiss bank accounts. Two years later he moved to the stockbroker belt near London. From his £450,000 mansion, he supervised a heroin pipeline from Thailand, through England, to Canada. His partner in the UK was Francesco Di Carlo. Caruana went to Thailand to set up the route. When the pipeline was dismantled in England in 1985, he managed to escape arrest, moving back to a Montreal suburb where he opened a pizzeria. Alfonso prepared the pizzas while his wife tended the pay-desk.[1]
According to Di Carlo, who became a pentito (state witness) in 1996, Caruana was sentenced to death by the high council of the Mafia after he had fallen out of favour. Di Carlo was ordered to carry out the killing, but refused.
