for those who watched May December on Netflix (i highly recommend it if you haven’t yet) remember that natalie portman’s character elizabeth is also an antagonist in this movie. gracie of course is the center stage antagonist because she’s a p*dophile who preyed on a young boy and tore her family to bits because of her calculating selfishness. but elizabeth isn’t the shining protagonist coming to right the wrongs and save the day - she’s passively preying on this extremely dysfunctional family in her own way
elizabeth knows that making a movie about gracie and joe’s “”romance”” will just stir up controversy and grief for the family, but in the end she is fine with it. even when the daughter flat up tells elizabeth that she wishes she wasn’t even there it doesn’t deter her in the slightest. she even manipulates joe who is extremely developmentally stunted into thinking she has a real connection with him just to leech as much info as she can get from him. this is just a story to her. a role she can step into and back out of when she’s done. meanwhile this is joe’s life. his own personal horror movie

Common Dreams
June 20, 2024
"Right-wing billionaires hoped an obscure legal case would blow up the tax code to avoid paying what they owe, but this effort failed," said the Democratic senator after the Moore v. United States decision.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren was among the economic justice advocates cheering Thursday after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a tax on Americans with shares of certain foreign corporations—a win for the Massachusetts Democrat and other wealth tax advocates.
"Right-wing billionaires hoped an obscure legal case would blow up the tax code to avoid paying what they owe, but this effort failed at the Supreme Court," Warren said in response to the 7-2 ruling in Moore v. United States. "The fight goes on to tax the rich, pass a wealth tax on ultra-millionaires and billionaires, and make the system more fair."
Although the narrow decision doesn't explicitly affirm the constitutionality of federal wealth tax proposals from congressional progressives including Warren, court watchers had feared a ruling in favor of Charles and Kathleen Moore—a Washington couple who challenged the mandatory repatriation tax (MRT) in Republicans' 2017 tax law—would disrupt efforts to impose such policies.
The high court heard the case in December. Conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday delivered the majority opinion that the MRT "does not exceed Congress' constitutional authority." He was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and the three liberals. Justice Amy Coney Barrett concurred in the judgment, joined by Justice Samuel Alito, who had faced calls to sit this case out.
Conservative Justice Clarence Thomas—who has provoked pressure to recuse himself from multiple cases or even leave the court by accepting and not reporting gifts from ultrarich Republicans—dissented, joined by Justice Neil Gorsuch. Thomas argued "the Moores are correct" that "a tax on unrealized investment gains is not a tax on 'incomes' within the meaning of the 16th Amendment, and it therefore cannot be imposed 'without apportionment among the several states.'"
Tumblr media
The Roosevelt Institute and Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) warned in a September report that a decision siding with the Moores could have led nearly 400 multinational corporations to collectively receive more than $270 billion in tax relief.
"Today's ruling is a win for anyone who didn't shelter income in offshore tax havens before 2018," ITEP executive director Amy Hanauer said Thursday. "It preserves close to $300 billion of tax revenue paid by some of the biggest and most profitable corporations in human history."
"If the court had retroactively repealed this one-time tax, any other way of making up the resulting shortfall would have fallen far more heavily on middle-and-low-income families and small businesses," she added. "The Supreme Court also could have taken an activist turn of the worst kind by preemptively ruling federal wealth taxes unconstitutional today. To its credit, the court did not do so."
Groundwork Collaborative executive director Lindsay Owens similarly called the ruling "great news," adding that "next year, there is nothing standing in Congress' way to make the wealthy pay up."
Meanwhile, Morris Pearl, chair of the Patriotic Millionaires and a former managing director at BlackRock, had a more mixed response, saying that "we are relieved that the Supreme Court chose not to overreach in its Moore v. U.S. decision. The plaintiffs' patently absurd argument, based on incorrect and seemingly fabricated facts, threatened to upend the tax code and preemptively declare taxes on wealth and unrealized capital gains unconstitutional. The court chose not to do so."
"But we remain deeply alarmed for two reasons. First, it is now evident that four Supreme Court justices are enthralled by the influence of billionaires. In their concurring opinion, Justices Barrett and Alito asserted that unrealized capital gains cannot be taxed, as did Thomas and Gorsuch in their dissent, which said there is a realization requirement for income tax," Pearl said. "These justices have now signaled their intention to declare taxes on wealth and unrealized capital gains unconstitutional."
"Second, the Supreme Court should never have agreed to hear this case in the first place," he continued. "Billionaires are shamelessly buying influence on the Court. While seven Justices rejected this specific attempt by plutocrats to avoid their patriotic duty, this does not change the fact that several members of the Supreme Court have corrupt relationships with billionaire benefactors looking to purchase outcomes on the court."
This post has been updated with comment from the Patriotic Millionaires.

Criminal minds evolution finale spoilers and slight trigger warning!!! Xxx
At first I thought emily having a sister would be a lie. We know our girl was trained to lie to manipulate and that can be a hard habit to break (she does it a lot)! We’ve seen her do it in revolution the infamous “mommy” scene where she said she had a kid!!! She even did it literally thirty seconds before the sister reveal in the flashback with Bailey when she lied about being in the field!!!
So I assumed the sister thing was a fat lie also!
So I assumed the conversation would maybe be that at the end when she told jade she knows what it’s like to be held down by a man, I thought someone (jj probably) would ask her about it and she’d say she was lying to get jade to surrender, but we (the audience) would get a sense she wasn’t and we would explore that maybe next season! Perhaps though it’s simple and she wasn’t lying because (Doyle,Cyrus, scratch, John Cooley, literally any man from her past… let’s not forget she grew up surrounded by privileged boys/men etc) probably all held her down one way or another!
BUT NO IVE JUST READ AN ARTICLE AND APPARENTLY THE MISSING/ NEVER MENTIONED PRENTISS SISTER IS REAL AND THEY CHECKED THEY HAD NEVER SAID EMILY WAS AN ONLY CHILD BEFORE ADDING THIS TIDBIT OF INFORMATION, AND IT COULD POSSIBLY BE AN AVENUE TO EXPLORE FOR A FUTURE STORYLINE!?!?!?

Doll house photos under the read more
Alright so I haven’t had time to buy contact paper for the flooring, or figure out wallpaper, or even finish decorating some of these rooms but here’s the current progress!
Tumblr media
First up, Kits room! Kit, Ruthie and Sterling (played by Eli) are plotting their next adventure!
Tumblr media
Below that we have Samantha’s room, where Rebecca is also hanging out! I got Samantha’s bed, nightstand and Clara (plus the dress that Nellie is in) from a really great Facebook marketplace find! Also I wanted Rebecca’s menorah to be on display until I have the space for a room specifically for Rebecca!
Tumblr media
Next up we have the parlor! At the moment it’s Elizabeth and Felicity taking tea in there (with Lydia serving tea) but I plan to switch between it being for Elizabeth and Felicity, Caroline and Lydia, & Cecile and Marie-Grace! So my goal is to try and get the back walls looking similar to Caroline’s parlor! Also I don’t know if I’ve properly introduced Lydia because I got her in the same week as Lindsey and Emily (I didn’t intend to buy 3 dolls that week lol), but this is my gorgeous truly me #21 that I found for pretty cheap on Mercari about a month or 2 ago.
Tumblr media
Then on the other bookcase we have Courtney’s bedroom! I plan to move the shelf above this up to give it a higher ceiling and set out more of Courtney’s sleepover stuff but for now her and Abby are enjoying just hanging out!
Tumblr media
Above that we have the game room, which currently only has my GOTY’s on display. Joss and Corrine are in a heated game of air hockey, while Kailey and Lindsey are on the computer. I was shocked to see the twin’s computer at the benefit sale this past year and I’m soooo glad I picked it up!
Tumblr media
Here’s a better look at Kailey and Lindsey on the computer.
Tumblr media
Then finally we have the room that I plan to change out for different scenes. Right now it’s a camping scene. Originally it just had Nicki, Mia and Sprocket, but my mom was like “you should add Luciana and her telescope!” So now Luci is third wheeling Mia and Nicki’s camping date 😂 (did I mention my Nicki and Mia are dating? Bc they’re dating)
I can’t wait to figure out wallpaper and flooring but that’ll probably take a few weeks since I know I’m traveling next weekend, and then pride is the weekend after that. (Yes I know it’s October but they wait til it’s cooler out where I live bc it’s unsafe to hold pride in the middle of summer bc of the heat). But hopefully I’ll have some wallpaper and flooring done by Halloween!

"I'm so excited to see how much natural chemistry there was between our actors, right from the beginning. I've never worked with a cast that was so loving to each other, like - we didn't have any assholes. That just doesn't happen, you know! This cast was amazing." - Felicia D. Henderson
