It's really tough to pick just a few… I'll have to split this into two posts due to tumblr's word limit, but here are some that immediately come to mind. Remember, this list isn't exhaustive and isn't in any particular order. (Here's part two.)

Tyrion Lannister - His wit, intelligence, and resilience make him one of the most entertaining and tragic characters in ASOIAF. Despite being born into one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in Westeros, he faces discrimination and cruelty due to his dwarfism. He didn't inherit the beauty of his siblings, nor is he tall, handsome, or skilled with a sword, and he's not particularly well-liked by others. But Tyrion holds a pivotal role in the series for good reason, and it's rare to encounter such a masterfully crafted and captivating protagonist who also grapples with disability. As Varys once said, "ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow."

Arya Stark - She stands as one of the most compelling and complex female characters in ASOIAF, yet she often remains underappreciated and misunderstood within fandom circles. While some may see her as a tomboyish archetype (forgetting that GRRM penned the books in the early 90's, a time when Arya's character was quite revolutionary in fiction), Arya's character transcends clichés to embody a raw and heartbreaking portrayal of a girl thrust into the brutality of war and forced to navigate a world torn apart by conflict as a child soldier. Separated from her family and faced with unimaginable challenges, Arya's unwavering determination to survive is both inspiring and heart-wrenching. What sets Arya apart is her multifaceted nature. She embodies a mix of magic, cunning, animalism, spirituality, and femininity, making her a rich and dynamic character. Her connection to her direwolf Nymeria and her training with the Faceless Men add layers of mystique to her narrative, while her unwavering sense of self and identity challenges traditional gender roles which modern readers can relate with.

Eugenides & Irene (because I can't mention one without the other) - In The Queen's Thief series, Eugenides, known as Gen, isn't just a master thief; beneath his sharp wit and roguish façade lies a man burdened by profound grief and the challenges of his disability. His journey through pain and loss adds intricate layers to his character, making him all the more compelling. As for Irene, the formidable queen of Attolia, her intelligence and resourcefulness are matched only by her inner turmoil. While she deftly navigates political challenges, the weight of her responsibilities and the harm inflicted upon her loved ones weigh heavily on her conscience. Their intertwined destinies and the magnetic pull between them form the heart of their portion of the series, making their romance a standout element of the story.

Ella of Frell - The curse placed upon Ella in Ella Enchanted, one of my cherished childhood books, serves as a powerful metaphor for the struggle many girls face in asserting their agency and setting boundaries. Forced to obey any command given to her, Ella's curse robs her of control over her own actions and decisions, leaving her vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. Ella's struggle to assert her independence and reclaim her agency is a central theme of the novel, and it highlights the importance of standing up for oneself and setting boundaries. This aspect of her character resonates deeply with readers, particularly young girls, who may relate to the feeling of being powerless in certain situations.

Achilles - One of the most powerful moments in the Iliad is Achilles' encounter with Priam, Hector's grieving father. Priam's act of kissing Achilles' hands, despite them being responsible for Hector's death, demonstrates remarkable humility and shared grief. This profound display of empathy moves Achilles to return Hector's body to Priam. In this moment, Achilles transcends his own ego and recognizes the universal experience of loss and mourning. By agreeing to return Hector's body, Achilles symbolically abandons his pursuit of personal glory, finding redemption and closure.

There's nothing big in terms of recent lore, just a lot small things because Big Lore Revelations are either rare, mildly spoilery, or are me being like "what if I cut this content no one even knows?" So I'll just share the little things that I think are fun.

House Of The Dragon:

Rhaella is the older twin

Yorick, ultimately, has 7 kids (Rhea, Stannis, Baldric, Myranda, Yorbert, Vaegon, & Daenerys)

My Main ASOIAF AU:

Casandra Lannister's story arc has recently been shuffled around to actually have her be the heir to the branch of House Lannister at Lannisport because that makes more of her stuff make sense. So now instead of just being ambitious for the sake of it, there's motivations now

The Elder Scrolls:

I cut/pasted a lot of things recently that now have two of my characters (a werewolf vampire hunter & a disgraced vigilant of Stendarr) traveling together on their mutually aligned quests. It's funnier if you know the characters, but imo even the setup is just kinda "babes, what are you two doing?" Which I enjoy as a setup to character dynamics.

“I’m going to catch you little rascal.” I called through the large hallways of the Red Keep attempting to catch my youngest brother Viserys who insisted we play chase this morning.

His silver white was getting tousled around while he ran around the corner with me trying to catch his heels. “You can't get me.”

“I think you doubt me far too much, little brother.” I smirked flying past the Targaryen banner near the wall rounding the corner he had gone around but he stopped running when I tackled him to the stone floor in my short dress. “Ha! I told you I'd get you.”

He whined underneath my hold. “That’s not fair.”

“Sister?” Yanking my head upward I saw my older brother Rhaegar standing a few steps away from us.

A few members of our fathers kingsguard were standing near the Iron Throne. I saw an older man with a bald head dressed in all red meaning it had to be the Hand of the King Tywin Lannister. “Um hi brother. What is going on here?”

“I was about to make this 16 year old a member of my Kingsguard until I was interrupted by you, daughter.” My father raised his tone towards me, sitting on the throne of swords.

I gulped knowing he didn’t have good control over his temper sometimes, especially around his children. “Forgive me, father. I didn't recall that it was today until this very moment.”

“It doesn't matter now. Get over there with your brothers and watch silently. Let's get this done. I don't wish to keep my wife waiting.” Father scoffed, tapping his fingers on the armrests of the chair until a different kingsguard delivered him a sword and walked forward standing on the first two steps where the young boy was bent down on one knee before his king.

Tywin finally spoke up to the king. “State your name, boy.”

“Jaime of House Lannister. Son of Tywin and Joanna Lannister.” The boy of fifteen with the long blonde hair responded on command.

Father raised his sword tapping his shoulders with the tip individually declaring the oath that must be bestowed onto a knight. “In the name of the warrior I charge you to be brave. In the name of the father I charge you to be just. In the name of the mother I charge you to defend the innocent. Arise Jaime Lannister, a knight of Seven Kingdoms and a member of the Kingsguard.”

“Woo hoo! Um - my apology.” I began clapping, breaking the silence in the throne room causing everyone to turn their heads in my direction.

Father placed his sword inside his holder and two knights along with the Hand of the King retreated from the room without another word. That left me and my brothers alone with Jaime Lannister. “I've been meaning to talk to you, sister. I have news for you.” Rhaegar turned on his feet facing me.

“What news is that?” I asked him curiously.

He answered me with a half smile, mentioning the Dorne family we had gotten along with since one girl was a former lady and waiting for our mother Rhaella. “I'm going to marry Ella Martel.”

“That’s great news, brother.” Flinging my arms around his neck I giggled and he hugged me back now smiling too.

The typical tradition of our family was for brothers and sisters to Wed one another but it took our parents seven years before they had me. By that time our father had already been talking about wedding my brother off to some high born girl of his many kingdoms. “I'm rather happy with it myself. I must go tell our mother. Come Viserys.” Rhaegar took our young brother by the hand leaving me alone in the throne room.

Shifting my gaze around I felt a pair of eyes on me when I turned my back to the throne seeing that the newly named kingsguard Lannister hadn't left me alone like I believed he had. “Can I help you with something, ser Knight?”

“I should be asking you that question, my princess. For I am sworn to aid and protect you.” Jaime bowed his head at me.

I clasped my hands together in front of my dress, my hair swaying with the fabric as I moved over to stand in front of the new knight. “From my memory I was not ever required to have a personal knight following me around my childhood home.”

“Well those were the commands I have been given and I intend to follow them, princess.”

Holding up a hand I interrupted him before this conversation went on any further. “Please stop calling me princess. I have far too many people addressing me by that title. I’d rather have someone call me by my name.”

“I can arrange those terms. Who do I have the honor of meeting now before me?”

I crusty to the night holding up the fabric of my dress showing him how my silver hair was styled into a crown when I did so. “Vaella Targaryen.”

“Then I’ll just be Jaime to you, Vaella.” The Lannister lion sent me a cheeky smile, bright green eyes focusing on my purple ones.

Lightly twirling side to side in my dress I smirked towards him deciding I should get to have some fun with my personal knight while my father wasn’t around us because right now he didn’t appear to be so serious as he was now that it was just the two of us alone together. “It’s nice to meet you, Jaime. I do have a question for you though?”

“What is your question Vaella?” He asked resting his right hand on the handle of his sword attached to his hip.

Sticking my tongue out at the knight I bolted barely waiting to hear what his reaction would be. “Do you think you can catch me, Ser knight?”

“I don’t understand. Wait - seven hells Vaella!” Jaime shook his head, awe struck and confused till he noticed the silver hair and white dress disappearing further away from him.

He began chasing after me concerned that he would get in trouble if something bad happened to me. But he wouldn’t admit it until years later how much he wished they had the opportunity to go back to that life compared to all the chaos that would be thrown their direction.

Kings Landing - current day

Jaime was currently standing outside of the King's office in the hallway on guard duty. The current king who had sat on the throne once he had killed the Mad King and now the Baratheon signal flew high in the Red Keep. The current king called Jaime’s nickname wanting to speak with him. “Kingslayer, get in here! It must wound your pride. Standing out there, like a golden sentry. Jaime Lannister, son of the mighty Tywin. Forced to mind the door while your king eats and drinks and shits and fucks. So, come on. We’re telling war stories. Who was your first kill, not counting the old men?”

“One of the outlaws in the Brotherhood.” He answered his king.

A fellow Kingsguard replied. “I was there that day. You were only a squire. Sixteen years old.”

“You killed Simon Toyne with a counter-riposte. Best move I ever saw.”

The other knight nodded. “Good fighter, Toyne. But he lacked stamina.

King Robert entered the conversation between the two Knights. “Your outlaw any last words?”

“I cut his head off. So, no.”

The king’s next question caused Jaime’s hand to drop down onto the handle of his sword. Recalling the night so vividly for more than one reason besides betraying the king he swore to protect. “What about Aerys Targaryen? What did the Mad King say when you stabbed him in the back? I never asked. Did he call you a traitor? Did he plead for a reprieve?”

“He said the same thing he had been saying for hours. Burn them all.”

Silence fell inside the chamber room with the king silently staring at him for a few minutes. “Then we should all be grateful that we took care of all the Targaryens. The Seven Kingdoms didn’t need anymore reign or vows to a house whose words are Fire and Blood wouldn’t you agree?”

“It would seem so, your grace. If that is all I’ll take my leave.” Jaime bowed his head walking back out into the hallway and he didn’t release the tension in his shoulders and show emotion until he was away from the king. For the king was wrong in his words because not all the Targaryens were dead. One remained in Kings Landing and Jaime was the reason for it

And if the king ever found out both their heads would be on spikes.

If Ned Stark became King

Hypothetically speaking. Let's say Robert and Rhaegar killed each other in the Battle of The Trident and Ned had no choice but to take the Iron Throne because The Rebellion expected it of him. Here is how I could see things going.

Tywin lannister would have been sentenced to death do to his part in the deaths of Ella Martell, Rhaenys and baby Aegon.

Jamie has three options. He killed the King he was sworn to protect which should mean either a death sentence or a sentence to the wall. If he could convenience Ned that he did the right and honorable thing by keeping the city from being burned maybe he could have lived and be Lord of Casterly Rock.

If Jamie died, Tyrion would have become Lord of Casterly Rock.

He would send for Queen Rhaella and Viserys and baby Daenerys in peace promising safety. Rhaella would have been allowed to live and raise Daenerys possibly in the capital or on Dragon Stone. Viserys would have been sent to the Eryie as a ward of Lord Jon Arryn. ( Ned had fond memories of being warded there, a good place for a confused young child).

Now for Jon, this is my belief of what would have happened. Jon would have been named Prince and heir and betrothed to Ned's first born daughter, in this case Sansa. This would unite both the rebellion and House Targaryen uniting the kingdom again.

Stannis would have been given temporary lordship over Dragonstone, holding it for Viserys. And would still be Lord of Storms End.

The Martells would be happy because they would have been given the Mountain and Tywin would've been executed for his crimes. I could see Ned also fostering Jon there. By all rights Jon is sort of related to the Martells. Its unknown if Ella knew that Rhaegar was going to remarry or not, if she knew and told her family I could see them opening their arms to Jon.

Now for Winterfell, with Ned at Kings Landing, Benjen would be the stark in the north. Its unknown why Benjen joined the Nights watch, I think he just plain wanted to. Ned would ask Benjen to hold Winterfell for a time before he joins, till either Robb is ready to take over, or Ned leaves the thrown for Jon.

Since the Eddard-Catelyn marriage had already been arranged it would not change. Marriages would be vastly different however.

Eddard and Cats marriage ensures an alliance between the Tullys and Starks.

Robb would then be promised to Margaery Tyrell when they both came of age thereby ensuring an alliance between the Tyrells and Starks.

Jaime Lannister and Lysa Tully would be betrothed thereby ensuring an alliance with The Westerlands and the Riverlands and, by extension, the Crown.

Because Jon Arryn had no heirs and was getting older he would be wed as well but since he was already Lord Paramount of the Vale his bride would be from a lesser vassal house from the Reach.

Prince Oberyn would be wed to Cersei hereby ensuring an alliance with Dorne and the Westerlands.

Arya Stark and Quentyn Martell

Daenerys and Willas

Varys and Baelish would be summarily dismissed from their services in the capital. They would be given holdfasts somewhere far away and forever be barred from the capital or from raising armies.

Grand Maester Pycelle would be sent to the Citadel for reassignment elsewhere. An election for a new Grand Maester would take place then (as is the Citadels way).

One of Ned’s first and continuing acts would be to repair the damage, both physical and emotional from Robert’s Rebellion and to repair the relations and trust between the common people and the Crown.

All soldiers that fought against Robert and Eddard during the campaign would be forgiven and pardoned and allowed to return to their homes without consequence. Their leaders, depending on their level of loyalty, would be offered a chance to swear fealty to the Starks. Any that refused would be sent to the Wall and their lands, estates, and positions would be given to loyal nobles.

Ned understood that the job of a noble is to help the people (he considers them his children), and he would immediately order all noble houses of a certain wealth to pay a one-time reparation tax to lift the poor out of poverty and to secure a positive working relationship with them.

Because so many noble houses have been killed off and there is a lack of trueborn individuals left in the kingdom tournaments would be held throughout the kingdom that would be open to the common man, the winners of which would receive a large reward of coin, be allowed to squire with the guarantee of knighthood, and a holdfast. These new nobles would be extremely loyal to the house that allowed them knighthood as well as the crown that elevated their status. These tournaments would also serve to lift the spirits of the common people.

If Ned took the throne the world would be a lot different and ultimately the story would be considerably more boring because the “game” would never happen.

Pls Tell Me More about How Politically Scary Ella's Marriage to Robert Tyrell actually is.

Robert being related to everyone started out as a fucking bit, & now Robella is literally one of the most terrifying matches in the fucking fic.

I talked about the premise of the branch of House Tyrell that Robert is from here. The tl;dr is that the Lord Tyrell during the beginning Jaehaerys's reign had a bunch of bastard sons, & I made one be legitimized as a backup heir. That son, Ser Luthor the Knight of Thorns, is the late uncle to the current Lord Tyrell who, at the moment, only has daughters. So, with all that in mind: we are immediately starting with "Ser Garth Tyrell, the current Knight of Thorns & Lord of Thorn Hall, is the direct cousin of Lord Mathos Tyrell & the son of the guy who almost inherited High Garden. He is affable & well liked, & if he was more ambitious he could push to inherit over his cousin's daughters." Lord Mathos is, overall, jazzed that his cousin has net zero ambition & genuinely likes not being in charge of the entirety of The Reach; the threat is still there though. This isn't aided by the fact that Garth's wife, Lady Danielle Reyne, would absolutely love for her husband to push for High Garden. She's kind of ambitious for the sake of ambition, but that's just sort of how House Reyne is in SOTF. (Also, I feel like naming your son "Garth," or really any "g" name in The Reach is the equivalent of a Targaryen naming their son "Aegon." That kid is named the equivalent of "King McHeir" at that point)

Through just the Thorn Hall Tyrells Robert has connections to:

House Oldflowers by way of Ser Luthor's widow/Robert's grandmother, who are the last (& most direct) verifiable descendants of House Gardener/the guys who had High Garden before the Tyrells.

House Oakheart by way of one of Garth's sisters (Cathryne) being Dear Bosom Companions with Lord Oakheart's sister. House Oakheart is one of the oldest & most powerful noble families within The Reach, trace their lineage all the way back to Garth Greenhand old & powerful.

House Hunt by way of one of Garth's brothers (Ser Gregor) being married to one of them. The Hunts are just Tarly bannermen, but that's still something & could potentially bring in the Tarlys themselves if push came to shove (depending on how close Aunt Caryss is to any family members who married into House Tarly)

Oldtown & The Citadel by way of another of Garth's brothers (Garlan) having become a maester

House Strong by way of Garth's other sister having been Lyonel Strong's second wife, & the mother of Larys. RIP Delylah Tyrell, we will never know if having had you in his life would have made Larys normal to be around

House Pommingham by way of Garth's oldest son/Robert's older brother's wife. The Pommingham's are kind of a nothingburger House, but that's still a noble family Robert has ties to.

Then you factor in Robert's mom's side of the family bringing in connections & it gets more ridiculous:

House Reyne, Robert's mother's birth House who is already pretty powerful & influential within The Westerlands

House Stark, by way of Queen Alysanne's friend Alarra. Robert's maternal grandmother was Lord Alaric Stark's daughter/Cregan Stark's Great Aunt

House Serrett by way of Danielle's younger brother (Lord Samson) being married to Lord Serrett's niece. Like the Pommingham's kind of a nothingburger House within canon, but that is, y'know, still a family Robert has some kind of connection to.

House Strong again, because Robert's cousin & the heir to Castamere, is married to Lyonel's oldest kid/Harwin's older sister

Danielle's Aunt Elisha/one of Robert's Great Aunts, is the mother of Lord Humfrey Bracken (the dad of the guy who got murdered in Boremund's living room). Y'know, the Brackens? The guys who keep fighting with the Blackwoods about who's more important?Those guys.

Danielle's Aunt Ceira/Robert's other Great Aunt is the mom of Jason & Tyland Lannister. I don't think I have to explain how being related to the Lord of Casterly Rock is a big deal.

So Robert is related to fucking everyone, including 2 guys on the small council. This shit gets fucking worse when you factor in Ella.

Ella is a Royce. The Royces just are one of the oldest & most influential families in The Vale. They control the vast majority of The Vale's coastline, & her brother is not only married to a Baratheon, but the Baratheons love him.

One of Ella's cousins is Jeyne Arryn, her grandpa was her regent until he got Medieval Prostate Cancer & retired back home. Jeyne loves her Royce family, she's got good memories with them & they've always defended her

Ella's Great Aunt is the Head of House Mormont, which isn't that impressive, but that's still an old family who is regularly fending off the Iron Islanders. This Great Aunt also has a Manderly for a husband--a Manderly who encouraged his nephew (the current Lord of White Harbor) to foster Ella's baby brother.

Regardless of the fallout with Laena, Yorick is still friends with Laenor & Rhea was friends with Rhaenys. That pulls the Velaryons in at least a little bit.

Ella's Aunt Rina is married to the Lord of House Costayne. That's one of the Hightower bannermen, & within the canon of SOTF, Aunt Rina's husband is the cousin of Hobert & Otto Hightower. Like, those guys' mom just is sotf!Owen Costayne's aunt.

Ella has friends strewn across the Free Cities thanks to her hot girl gap year

The Strongs are once again being brought back out because Lyonel & his third wife were friends with Lady Rhea, & their daughter is married to one of Ella's cousins

There is, of course, the elephant in the room of her being related to House Targaryen. Ella's uncle is the king, she is maintaining a friendship with at least one of his kids at all times, & she's friends with his second wife.

Not only does Ella have a sentient WMD she takes on joy rides, so do her 2 brothers. And these are some of the largest & oldest of the dragons that are currently alive.

If Robert Tyrell had loftier ambitions than just being a professional trophy husband, boytoy, malewife he would be the most politically terrifying man in Westeros. He has connections to most of the Great Houses, several of the oldest & most powerful Houses within Westeros, most of the eastern coastline of Westeros & part of the western coastline, Essosi nobles & politicians, the royal family, 3 guys on the small council, & an insane wife who rides Jumbo Peepaw Vermithor
