First of all, Elle sweetie I miss you so much 😭 come home to usssss. I’ve been holding on to this ask for over a year because it was my last one from you and I didn’t want to answer it without you being here :( I love you always 💛.

15) OCs or No OCs?

I have two categories when it comes to OCs: reading + publishing, and then private writing.

Reading + publishing: Minimum OCs. I don’t mind when we give background characters names or personality shreds if they’re important to the plot (so an example on my end would be Sebastian’s parents. I gave them names, personalities and feelings, but they aren’t main characters by any means) but I’m personally not a fan of completely isolated new characters, so a self insert/OC who goes to McKinley and say, dates Sam or Tina. If a friend wrote a fic like that and asked me to read it, I would happily do so! But I just don’t go looking for those kinds of things because I’m not necessarily setting out to read about characters I don’t know. I do applaud everybody creative enough to have so many cool OCs though!

Private writing: so for me this is more centred around things that I write that won’t be published until I explain my world building through canon-only-character fics first, if I ever do at all. This type of writing still isn’t filled with major OCs because that’s just not my thing really, but as you guys know from my pinned Sebastian post, I think about his family life a lot. So I do write things about them sometimes (Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles/Cousins, even extended family, because it all ties back to Seb), despite the fact they are OCs to an extent, and I do enjoy talking about them because I feel as though, to me at least, their actions would contribute to shaping Sebastian as a person.

18) favourite writing prompts?

Hmm. I actually don’t think I have an answer for this unfortunately. I guess my favourite genre of prompts would be angst, hurt/comfort, and fluff. I don’t have a preference as to whether it’s romantic, platonic, or family lore, whether it’s narrative or dialogue, I just write whatever I feel fits my vibe the best.

19) Dead or overused tropes?

Both and neither, literally whatever floats my boat. I don’t really look at a trope as overused or dead, if I’m feeling it’s vibe, I’m writing it, and the same goes for everyone else. That being said, I feel as though the whole ‘enemies to lovers’ is a popular option, and I’m still obsessed with that trope at the moment considering it’s Kurtbastian’s usual progressive storyline, and they’re iconic 💛. (And as cheesy as it is, my guilty pleasure dialogue ‘trope’ is “You hate me!” “I don’t hate you…” agdkrbwga my brain. It scratches it.)

OK EXPLANATION AT THE END. This is a "transcript" of an internal conversation between me n my headmates. We did one of these a looong time ago, but it was very stilted and awkward since we were trying to color code the dialogue as we went along. Luckily we're now more familiar with our speech patterns and are able to guess whose who now without having to initially label it. That's why this might flow more naturally and is longer.

Jonah's giving me full reigns of the explanation to further display how speech patterns can differentiate between alters, which is why this is so long-winded. Anyway, the explanation of what this is for non-systems: a form of inner-system communication is when two alters have a conversation with each other. What you see here is internal-system communication during co-consciousness - when multiple alters are near front at the same time. For us, this is usually someone having full-control of the body, and another person having partial to no control of the body, while commentating on what the other person is doing. Or, y'know, just chatting with them. Here, the four of us each had partial control of the body to type what we were saying.
