everybody acts like dazai joining the ada with no resume or recorded history is the outlier among ada employees but their main hiring requirement is basically a glorified vibe check. the founding detective was kicked out of the police academy. their second employee was a war criminal. they hire orphanage rejects with bounties who have no formal education. a random farm kid became a detective. a child assassin. whatever the hell tanizaki has going on. honestly i'm pretty sure kunikida is the only ada employee who knows what a resume even is.

chuuya is a hiding in plain sight, never comes across as suspicious, perfect poker face kinda liar. dazai is a gaslighting, carefully constructed half-truths, manipulating reality to fit his words kinda liar. together they could probably destroy organizations without even using their abilities but violence is faster and more fun.

i think so much about the wan chapter where chuuya runs into dazai and they end up just sitting together and playing a switch racing game and chuuya knows dazai cheated and challenges him to a rematch. dazai says how hard it is to get together as grown-ups, implying that they do, in fact, hang out and do normal shit together. the pure best friend vibes it emanates. like just admit you wanted an excuse to play video games together, guys.

i really think ranpo and fukuzawa heard about dazai's crimes being publicized then within like a few hours fukuzawa agreed to transfer a member to the mafia and they were both just like "well i guess that guy's gone fr now rip dazai" and that's why he was ignored in ranpo's "the whole agency's together again" comment in anne's room and in fukuzawa's thoughts of the ada

it feels so weird to me when people have kunikida reprimand people for their language like i'm pretty sure that man's first word was "goddamnit"

i need a fic that's pre-mafia mori and dazai but instead of being some kind of angsty trauma thing it's a weird family comedy of them just sitting around in a dingy underground clinic planning the pm takeover while dazai is a little shit and tries to kill himself in ridiculous ways just to piss mori off and mori is increasingly exasperated with him but also kind of endeared and elise is in the background being annoyed because she finally has another kid around but she can't even play with him because he makes her vanish on purpose when she gets too close ever since that time she borrowed his video game without asking
