#i have a thought spiral i want to share#it's about ai! such fun#ok so i am a student again since last year right#and the one thing that immediately became so obvious is how integrated chatgpt has become like#students have it open during class and ask it questions during group discussions and make summaries with it#and for writing assignments you have to say if and in what way you used ai#etc. like it's everywhere#ALSO at work (i teach) there's been a lot of attention for it like how to integrate it in your classes and make materials with it etc#like there's actual workshops for it and a lot of people use it i feel like#BUT MY THING IS#ok so today i was working on an assignment and i always put a lot of work in them right? like it's a whole Process and i take pride in it#but they also always just take a really long time#and so i was sitting there today and the sun was shining outside and i was just asking myself like#why am i holding on so much to not using it? bc i honestly just utilise to write my assignments and they would be done so much quicker#and I'd have time to do fun things right??#but it's JUST. my problem with it IS#i hate what it stands for right? like it's such a part of this culture where everything always needs to be better and faster#and more productive#like if i can have ai write my emails then i can send more emails and i can get more done and it just feels like suck a part of the “more!!”#(it's like those medicine that energise you or painkillers with caffeine in them like holy fuck people don't need that they just need REST)#and then ALSO#like i said earlier i put a lot of time an effort into writing assignments and i dont mean that in a holier than thou way it's just#there's so much to say for the writing process and thinking about what to include and what to put where and how phrase things#and if we let go of that and just let everything be written by machines like#where is de eigenheid?? (the dutchies will get it i think the english word would be singularity? idiosyncrasy? just the YOU in a text)#just like why is everyone just ok with giving up so much!!!!! why are people okay with not thinking anymore and letting the machines#think for them!!!!!!#that is all not to even MENTION the environmental impact of it all#everything about it infuriates and baffles me#but then also maybe i should just let chatgpt help w my assignments so i can enjoy the sun yk? honestlyyyy idek anymore

Ok are you also giving up googling? 4 hr long video essays? streaming?#i sound like an ai dickrider but i really am not like i find a lot of it kind of bland at best but you dont have to#moralize others inability to do tedious and unnecessary tasks lol#ok one last thing 'this post is 45 words' Ypu copied the same 2 like 3 times like what point is being made

i think the best thing about rdr2 so far is my brother is talking to me a lot which is nice
#camera talks#*best thing as if this story isnt going to change me forever as a game and thing I’ve integrated into myself#I think our relationship is probably the rockiest. him and his twin#(I’m 5 years older than them and sometimes they are bitterly transphoic to me when upset)#(also weirdly loyal to our parents bc they didn’t treat them like they treated the rest of us but)#anwyys our playing styles are wayyyy different#(I play high honor and he plays really low bc I don’t think he knows better lmao)#and I explore and travel a lot more and he Does Not#but like we’ve been talking about something we both mutually like#in different ways but still enjoy#and just overall it’s kinda nice to have a connection between us that like. we both are playing for the first time#and I don’t might infodumping to him bc he understands lol#(I infodump to people who don’t understand too tho <33)#and yeah idk it’s nice#oh and also I’m at school rn and hes been sending me emails just saying hi#which I think is very silly

Hey what's up guys. Welcome back to baking. I got into this because it was trending on youtube and now I'm doing the macaron challenge. But before we get started I'd like to introduce you to the sponsor for this week's half-a-million-views video. This video is sponsored by...
(Sponsored segment)
Now that that's done, let's get started on our newest challenge.
(Fade transition)
Now you may be thinking, isn't baking macarons hard? And already I was thinking, what have I gotten myself into?
(Low quality reaction footage)
I'm not aware of any possible way to bake a macaron without putting effort and skill into it. So is it impossible? Well, not if I substitute the shell for cereal. I have my cereal here... and you may be thinking, how am I going to do the filling? So I actually didn't have time to make my own filling so I'm using milk, which uh, you can get at grocery stores if I'm not mistaken?
Ok so let's go ahead and --
(Compilation of splashing milk all over counter several times)
But. Something was wrong. I wasn't getting the correct milk pour. And speaking of pour, if you're not poor,
(Another sponsor segment)
Time to switch gears and bring out the big guns: a bowl. Thank you to all those who suggested putting the cereal in a bowl last video.
(Fade transition)
Wow, that was tough. Anyway I have a bowl of milk and cereal, and the challenge says there's now a baking process. Full disclaimer, I didn't have time to bake it because I produce so many baking challenge videos, and you can support those videos on Patreon, I'll put a link in the description along with my dogshit chef plushie.
(Changes set to giant living room with youtube trophy plaque in background)
Anyway after *laughs* all that work, wow, I can't believe we did it, we're left with a bowl of cereal, I mean plate of macarons. I have to thank you guys for making this possible.
(Huge amount of patreon names going by really fast)
And now... it's time... to eat this macaron. Mmm. Let me know if any smaller youtubers have done any other challenges properly, and I'll take their idea and maybe make a video of it that'll be picked up by the algorithm over theirs. See you next time.
(Brofists the camera)
#now to be fair annoying youtubers put a hell of a lot of work into their lazy fake videos#like writing a bad script. and speaking in a stilted manner for an hour. and emailing the raw footage to their editors#shoutout to the youtubers with integrity who actually make incredible displays of skill and are dedicated to their craft

Occasionally we debate on illustrating random bits from our Discord PMs that we find really funny but then we remember that we're, like, the physical embodiment of the "ace that makes sex jokes" stereotype and phrases like "iterator dick discourse" would both be remarkably difficult to illustrate and probably require us drawing something at least somewhat NSFW (we do not particularly care to learn how to draw this)
#we speak#realistically it would just require more specific tinkering w what we choose to include but we still think the dickscourse is funny#it's the image of a bunch of ancient monks gathering around to very seriously debate decisions with the upcoming iterator project#and then the whiteboard is just like. “ITERATORS: dick or no?”#(vital context: we got hung up on the semantics of people giving their iterators actual genitals in smut)#(as the existence of that on the puppet implies that someone had to design and manufacture and ship that shit for the finished iterator)#(and the general aura of the ancients instantly catapults this to fucking hilarious because it implies job titles like “dick director”)#(and work emails about iterator pipe written in the exact same cadence as all of the ancient correspondence we see in-game)#we dont think a lot of people designing iterators really Get the sheer amount of semantics and construction and effort and PEOPLE#that go into a project of the iterator's scale#especially when hundreds of them have been constructed! theres gonna be a whole ass trail of design changes and iterations!#youre gonna have hundreds of years of iterators being designed and technology coming into fashion and out of fashion#and things being integrated and things becoming obsolete and things being more or less practical as time goes on!#you cant really say that All Iterators have a trait because the sheer scale and timeframe theyre built on means thats near impossible#our windows 95 writing computer has different construction and deeply different design to a laptop from 2023#despite them technically being the same type of technology#you expect tech developed hundreds of years apart to be The Same? absolutely not. theres gonna be eight trillion weird design quirks#accumulated both in the construction process and in the continued design refinement and improvement stage#...which is to say that you can and should write what u want but if youre gonna include pleasure inducing wires then we want like#a 40k word essay on how this got into the design how it wound up in future designs what function the wires perform that makes them Like Tha#and so on and so forth#we admire the confidence and ingenuity of the people who want to fuck the robots but we cannot get into their fantasies with good conscienc#we live in the same house as an engineer who manages largescale construction and we also know too much about designing technology#...we should segment these tags into a separate post or something. we've gone WAY off-topic.

Having a male boss after a brief, beautiful window of working for a woman has definitely intensified my dislike of men. Ditto getting catcalled in public, riding on crowded commuter trains where men take up 2- and 3-seaters with bags and coats or their feet, etc.
#and what’s sad about it is I like my boss#but he doesn’t need to speculate on how maybe the water is coming from a leak#I sent you an email. I told you where the water is coming from#read and integrate the words I’m saying please

artists who do personal commissions and/or people who place commissions, do y'all like to use forms? i.e., an online form (like google forms or carrd forms) or a pdf form you can fill out and send via email or whatever. does it make it more/less inviting to request a commission?
#commissions#at my job we make everyone fill out a pdf for every request tho we are moving to a more integrated ticketing system#and you can make pdfs super accessible and shit#im just surprised ppl dont make super decorated pdf forms ig. or maybe they do#it's just sooo much easier than a long email

At the California Institute of the Arts, it all started with a videoconference between the registrar’s office and a nonprofit.
One of the nonprofit’s representatives had enabled an AI note-taking tool from Read AI. At the end of the meeting, it emailed a summary to all attendees, said Allan Chen, the institute’s chief technology officer. They could have a copy of the notes, if they wanted — they just needed to create their own account.
Next thing Chen knew, Read AI’s bot had popped up inabout a dozen of his meetings over a one-week span. It was in one-on-one check-ins. Project meetings. “Everything.”
The spread “was very aggressive,” recalled Chen, who also serves as vice president for institute technology. And it “took us by surprise.”
The scenariounderscores a growing challenge for colleges: Tech adoption and experimentation among students, faculty, and staff — especially as it pertains to AI — are outpacing institutions’ governance of these technologies and may even violate their data-privacy and security policies.
That has been the case with note-taking tools from companies including Read AI, Otter.ai, and Fireflies.ai.They can integrate with platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teamsto provide live transcriptions, meeting summaries, audio and video recordings, and other services.
Higher-ed interest in these products isn’t surprising. For those bogged down with virtual rendezvouses, a tool that can ingest long, winding conversations and spit outkey takeaways and action items is alluring. These services can also aid people with disabilities, including those who are deaf.
But the tools can quickly propagate unchecked across a university. They can auto-join any virtual meetings on a user’s calendar — even if that person is not in attendance. And that’s a concern, administrators say, if it means third-party productsthat an institution hasn’t reviewedmay be capturing and analyzing personal information, proprietary material, or confidential communications.
“What keeps me up at night is the ability for individual users to do things that are very powerful, but they don’t realize what they’re doing,” Chen said. “You may not realize you’re opening a can of worms.“
The Chronicle documented both individual and universitywide instances of this trend. At Tidewater Community College, in Virginia, Heather Brown, an instructional designer, unwittingly gave Otter.ai’s tool access to her calendar, and it joined a Faculty Senate meeting she didn’t end up attending. “One of our [associate vice presidents] reached out to inform me,” she wrote in a message. “I was mortified!”
