Read somewhere in a fanfic that high born wives are expected to (or at least can choose to) darn their husband’s shirts, so now I headcanon Helaena does that for Aegon (and Aemond too sometimes), and ofc she embroiders a few lil bugs in them, and it makes them feel very warm and happy to carry everywhere something that reminds them of their dear sister :)🐛🐝🦋🐞

Ten blue butterflies hand embroidered on an oversized zip up hoodie 🦋

Rough process:

I took a picture of the zip up laid flat. Planned out the butterfly designs in Procreate. Traced the drawings on Sulky Sticky Solvy. Cut out the different butterflies and stuck them in the locations I planned with my iPad. Then I stitched a running stitch around each butterfly. Then I placed an embroidery hoop on the fabric & solvy. I did have to go to my local hardware store to purchase a longer screw and bolt to be able to fit the sweatshirt fabric in the hoop. When I was all finished, I applied iron on interfacing to cover and protect the threads and backside of the embroideries. I soaked the embroidery in a water-vinegar mixture to set the colors and to minimize chances of the colors bleeding. Then soaked and rinsed off the remaining solvy. I did have to run the zip up through the wash a couple of times because the sticky goo residue was being stubborn to remove.

As the one I have the clearest idea for... tiny envelope sketch of xcom au Pomme. May proper colour her later. Her hair is naturally light but that distressed her, so uncle Mike and auntie Mouse lends her some of their pink hair die. Once she's a bit older and the war is over so resources better, she'll make it pink, red and blue streaks. Her skirt is black to match her beret and her shirt is a pale cream and papa Antoine bought all her clothes and dressed her up like he things a normal human child looks. She adores it. Baghera helps her with both the belt ribbon and the neck one, and Etoiles and Aypierre made her a petticoat for the skirt which is both comfy and can hide many weapons (or snacks) in. She's about 4'2'' and still has growing to do. Despite being one of the youngest she looks like one of the older eggs, as she's one of very few who were consistently and properly fed psionic energy.
