[drug use, overdose, parental death] born in shanghai to a single mother. never learned about his biological father as xiaoling wasn't interested in talking about the man much for obvious reasons (deadbeat foreigner). xiaoling had a close bond with one of the members of the zhao family who are very high ranking in a crime organization there. when xiaoling passed due to an overdose (which killian, age ten, found her dying from), the zhaos took killian in as their own child.

killian was offered full adoption by the zhaos, which he respectfully denied. it was still assumed that killian would join the ranks of the organization, though it didn't seem he had any inclination to do so.

labeled a child prodigy and generally a very smart kid who devoured any and all information he had access to. affinity for medicine, science, and language. additionally excelled in any and all martial arts he was placed in, as was expected of him.

eldest members of the zhao family were assassinated in almost broad daylight, at which killian (eighteen) was recruited by his 'older brother' to help enact revenge. resulted in killian responsible for the death of several people, and while he doesn't regret killing them, he feels fear for the exhilaration he got out of doing so.

literally immediately after this he was like hmmmmmmm no thank you! i want no part of this!!!! press esc to escape!! unfortunately despite it all he is a zhao, whether he has the name or not. this was not taken well by his remaining adoptive siblings and he was more or less exiled / told to figure life out by himself.

got a bachelor's + master's in nursing in an attempt at 'making up' for the death he caused... has it worked? not really. but by the time he received his masters and started work as an NP, he earned his siblings' respect back and was more or less accepted back by the family, though he's still considered an outsider by a large margin.

honestly Hated feeling like an outsider within his own family and when his friend in tokyo mentioned that there was a NP position open in the tokyo trauma team... well.... an escape is an escape!

while killian won't kill, he is unopposed to violence and has a strict moral compass.... what type of morals? good luck figuring that out. his violence shows more in the way he speaks sometimes, rather than actions, though he is just as likely to break your arm as he is to fix it depending on how you act. misses his family dearly. is extremely paranoid.

doesn't live in a particularly great area so he'll offer free medical services to those who need it.

not a fan of new technology unless it is specifically 'good' medical technology (whatever that means).

if you want to contact him you have to corner him as he'll avoid someone for years if needed.

if he's not working he's sleeping and he's rarely not working. he came here for a change but it's probably worse here if we're being honest.

2023 Blog Schedule

Heyyy bestiesss, Emile here, how are you guys? I hope your 2023 has started off better than mine — I’m currently recovering from COVID after testing positive on January 1st :/ It’s been an awful experience so far, please get vaccinated and get your boosters! I’ve had mine, and had most of my boosters but put off getting the most recent one, and now I’m suffering for it. I don’t want any of you having to experience what I am!

Moving on from that, I’ve decided that from here on out I’m going to have a yearly schedule for this blog! I want to post more content without putting tons of pressure on myself, so this year, I’m going to be focused on twelve major projects, one for each month! Keep in mind that I will also be posting some flash fiction for Dead by Daylight at the same time — that’s because I’m in a writing club for it and it’s only 200 words a week, which is pretty low stakes for me, and some of these projects will be centered on the long-term projects going on in that club (signified by an asterisk). Al bij het wakker worden bevangt het mij: 'Hai Pippi Langkous', ook op die ene zaterdag in augustus '94 toen ik voor 48 uur in Zweden verbleef rondom Helsingborg en ik langs een rode houten boerderij met melkbussen aan de kant, fietste begon ik het meteen te zingen:

Maar ook Emil en Karlsson die zo je slaapkamer in kwam vliegen, ik heb ervan genoten! Op weg vandaag naar Zweden dus. Eénmaal de grens over verandert het landschap van de openheid in Noorwegen naar de dichte bossen. Af en toe is er een meer te zien, hoewel meer het lijkt meer een zee. Tegen de avond is Stockholm bereikt. Een stad die ik altijd al had willen bezoeken. De wijk waar we overnachten heet Kista uit te spreken als Siesta. De metro, tunnelbana geheten deelt de wijk in een woon- en industriegedeelte daar waar het moderne hotel te midden van IT-bedrijven staat. Er is ook een mega winkelcentrum te vinden waar het zeer multiculti is. Daar we wel trek hebben komt het wel uit dat er ook vele restaurants zijn te vinden. We gaan voor Grieks, maar hoe bestel je het? Het Zweeds is om te lezen nou niet echt moeilijk, maar het uitspreken? Schijnbaar was het verstaanbaar want we krijgen een lekker maaktje voorgeschoteld.

Ministerraad akkoord met wetsvoorstel verplichte certificering voor uitzendbureaus

De ministerraad heeft op voorstel van minister Van Gennip van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid ingestemd met het wetsvoorstel verplichte certificering voor uitzendbureaus. Het doel van de wet is dat uitzendbureaus al hun werknemers onder goede werk- en woonomstandigheden laten werken. Daarvoor moeten alle uitzendbureaus gaan voldoen aan een certificeringsplicht. Hiermee wordt de kwetsbare positie van arbeidsmigranten verbeterd en het speelveld voor alle uitleners gelijk getrokken. Arbeidsmigranten Te veel arbeidsmigranten in Nederland werken onder omstandigheden die Nederland onwaardig zijn. Mensen die hier komen werken hebben recht op fatsoenlijke woon- en werkomstandigheden. Dit is een verantwoordelijkheid van overheid, werkgevers en uitzendbureaus. Het wetsvoorstel verplichte certificering zorgt voor de aanpak van malafide uitzendbureaus. Dit is een belangrijk onderdeel in de gehele aanpak. Daarom wil minister Van Gennip haast maken met de invoering van dit wetsvoorstel. Het verplichte certificeringsstelsel is een van de belangrijkste aanbevelingen van het Aanjaagteam Bescherming Arbeidsmigranten van de heer Emile Roemer.  Raad van State Het wetsvoorstel wordt voor advies aan de Raad van State gezonden. Na ommekomst van het advies zal het wetsvoorstel in het voorjaar van 2023 naar de Tweede Kamer gaan, waarna in 2024 alle uitzendbureaus een certificaat moeten aanvragen. Nieuwe organisatie Voor het uitgeven van certificaten wordt komend jaar een nieuwe organisatie opgericht die in de zomer van 2024 operationeel moet zijn. Om te zorgen dat uitzendbureaus zo vroeg mogelijk een certificaat aanvragen, worden ze via een ingroeimodel gestimuleerd om voor 1 augustus 2024 een certificaat aan te vragen. Daarvoor moet het uitzendbureau voldoen aan de eisen voor het certificaat. Arbeidsinspectie De Arbeidsinspectie wordt vanaf 2023 uitgebreid om te handhaven op de certificeringsplicht. De Arbeidsinspectie gaat handhaven vanaf het moment dat uitzendbureaus in staat zijn gesteld om een certificaat te krijgen. Dat zal, afhankelijk van de parlementaire behandeling en de uitvoering, op 1 januari 2025 zijn. Vanaf dat moment zullen uitzendbureaus die zonder certificaten arbeidskrachten (waaronder arbeidsmigranten) beschikbaar stellen, beboet worden.
