Imola GP was canceled because of flooding in the region.
Some drivers posted this, which is the official relief fund for anyone that wants to donate:
Tumblr media
For people that don't use IBAN, this is a global fundraiser, from what I can tell it's safe and legit.
I believe that the drivers here mean the absolute best, but i need everyone to understand that this is NOT going to be over in a couple of days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is going to take YEARS.

Hi.
I've written and re-written this post a lot of times, and the draft has been sitting there for a while. I am usually pretty light-hearted in my posts and I am sorry to be taking the heaviness of the real world onto tumblr, but not saying anything is also not sitting right with me.
Not how many of you know this, but I am from Italy, and currently part of the region I am originally from, Emilia Romagna (where the beloved Parmesan cheese comes from, as well as Parma ham/prosciutto) has experienced devastating floods.
Luckily I am safe and my family is safe, but many others are left without a home or a job, and the volunteers on site are working their bones off to help the people there.
If you have the means to make a donation, this article points out different ways you can help. If you can't, that's perfectly alright, your thoughts and positive vibes are also more than welcome.

F1 cancels the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix due to flooding in Imola | 2023 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
Formula 1’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola this weekend has been called off due to flooding of the venue and the local area. Wet weather has been having a destructive effect in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy for several weeks, and the highest level of weather alert has already been issued several times this week. Preparations to hold the race had already begun. However the Santerno river which runs alongside the paddock and track was swelling with rainfall from elsewhere in the region, and its water level rose until it burst its banks on Tuesday afternoon. Perimeter barriers around the track initially prevented that from flooding the paddock. But the situation posed such a risk that the teams due to arrive in the support paddock the next morning were told they would not be allowed to do so. Soon afterwards, those already working at the track were informed they needed to leave as a safety precaution. That evening the Wednesday morning prohibition was extended to the whole day, and then to the whole paddock as F1 teams and media were informed the circuit would be closed for the day as the weather situation was monitored. Wednesday began with more rain which put the support paddock and its power supply underwater, rendering it useless even if it had been safe to work there, and talks took place between local authorities and the circuit about the plan for Thursday and beyond with the prospect of less rain but a river that was still swelling and was already posing a flood risk to the town of Imola. At 13:15 local time, F1 put out a statement announcing the grand prix would be cancelled. “It is such a tragedy to see what has happened to Imola and Emilia Romagna, the town and region that I grew up in and my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the flooding and the families and communities affected,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “I want to express my gratitude and admiration for the incredible emergency services who are working tirelessly to help those who need help and alleviate the situation – they are heroes and the whole of Italy is proud on them. “The decision that has been taken is the right one for everyone in the local communities and the F1 family as we need to ensure safety and not create extra burden for the authorities while they deal with this very awful situation.” FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “My thoughts and those of the entire FIA family are with those affected by the terrible situation in the Emilia Romagna region. The safety of everyone involved and recovery efforts are the top priority at this time.” This article will be updated Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free 2023 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix Browse all 2023 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net/

Imola 2024 Trophy
Tumblr media
It’s the shape of the circuit and it has a little badge with Senna and Ratzenberger’s helmets on it, surrounded by the names of all the past winners of Grand Prix held at the Imola Circuit
Tumblr media
And for 2023 (because of the flooding in the nearby towns that cancelled the race) they have Emilia Romagna Citizens labelled as the winners.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could be CANCELLED after Imola evacuated due to flood risks
Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could be CANCELLED due to extreme weather... after Imola was evacuated due to flood risks just days before race weekend An anticipated 100mm of rainfall is due in the region before Wednesday evening The circuit lies dangerously close to the banks of the rising river Santerno Extreme weather is set to continue over race weekend, including strong winds By Tamara Prenn For Mailonline Published: 18:02, 16 May 2023 | Updated: 18:02, 16 May 2023 Sunday's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could be threatened with cancellation after personnel were forced to evacuate the paddock at Imola due to flood risks.  The northern Italian region has been hit with heavy rain and flooding throughout May, and was given a red weather alert as rain and wind look set to continue.  Rain is heavily forecast every day this week save for Thursday – with the race weekend due to start on Friday – and the Italian Met Office also issued landslide warnings for Tuesday and Wednesday.  The circuit itself sits on the banks of the river Santerno, whose levels have been rising rapidly, and should the banks burst, water would flood into the paddock.  As per the Sun, staff working at the circuit on Tuesday were sent back to their hotels, as the sport's heads face a nail-biting wait to see if see if the heavily anticipated event will be able to go ahead as planned.  Imola was evacuated on Tuesday due to flood risks just days before the Emilia Romagna GP A picture shared on Twitter today (left) showed the waters of the Santerno rising dangerously close to the edge of the famed circuit – but the area has seen flooding throughout May (right) The region's capital, Bologna, was pictured preparing fo the flood risk on Tuesday afternoon As much rainfall as 100mm is predicted to fall through Wednesday evening in the region, where hundreds of residents have already been evacuated, local schools are closing, and all but essential travel is advised against.  Formula One have said that the race is set to go ahead as planned at present, and there is hope that the television broadcast of the event won't be effected by the extreme weather.  By chance, Imola was already set to be the stage for the launch of a new Pirelli rain tyre that will not need to be heated up beforehand.  Pirelli's head of car racing and F1, Mario Isola, said the new tyres had shown 'even better performance' than the Cinturato Blue full wet tyre currently in use.  'The result of studies carried out by Pirelli, it is the first concerte step towards the use of dry tyres without preheating,' Isola added.  The potential for weather delay could not have come at a more difficult point in the F1 calendar, with Imola the first grand prix of a run of three consecutive race weekends.  Whatever the weather, should the race go ahead, Mercedes may rue not having the ideal race weekend to show off their much-discussed upgrades to the W14.  Toto Wolff has advised his drivers to manager their expectations ahead of the Imola upgrades Red Bull are unlikely to be troubled by the adjustments after establishing a formidable lead Toto Wolff first mentioned the proposed upgrades that the constructor were looking to make to the car after a disappointing start to the season ahead of March's Australian Grand Prix.  The Mercedes team principal has since attempted to downplay expectations, saying that it was unlikely that the upgrades would mean the car could 'drive circles around Red Bull'.  Last year's constructors champions look unlikely to be challenged once again this season with both world champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez unable to put a foot wrong.  Perez is just 14 points behind Verstappen at the top of the standings, with a gaping chasm of 30 points between the Mexican driver and the next-closest contender, Fernando Alonso, who sits third.  Share or comment on this article: Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could be CANCELLED after Imola evacuated due to flood risks via Formula One | Mail Online https://www.dailymail.co.uk?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490

EMILIA-ROMAGNA WHAT IS GOING ON AND HOW DO I HELP?
“Currently, in Emilia-Romagna, there are 21 flooded rivers and 23 watercourses that have exceeded level 3 — the maximum alarm level. Furthermore, there are 37 municipalities/towns with flooding between Romagna and Bologna. There are 48 municipalities/towns with landslides, some of which are of significant size, between Reggio Emilia and Rimini.” One of the reports regarding the situation stated. Note that this information can variate, increase and decrease.
If you want to look more into it, want to learn more of what is happening, you can find information here in english: CNN, BBC, The Guardian. And here in Italian: Regione Emilia-Romagna, Bologna, Il Gazzettino.
Two days ago I donated to support and help the Emilia Romagna region in their fight against the floods. I do have family and friends residing there, which, to an extent, gives me a close look into their circumstances. It’s devastating.
If you are able to help — If you can donate, even a little, please do. Everything helps.
DONATE HERE — this is the general donation link from the Italian Red Cross / Croce Rossa Italiana. You can also follow the steps of these flyers:
