John Smith trying to guess which one was the counterfeit had me dying man Cid is hilarious. Bro had sweat dripping down his face while guessing. The fact he’s running this whole scheme which is affecting his own subordinate’s business is comedic gold.

It was good to see Gamma in action as well and of course always good to see best girl Rose. Her being so close to the guy she likes and not even knowing it is pretty sad. On the bright side she does seem to be adjusting to life in the shadow garden pretty well.

Can’t wait for next episode, so far been a phenomenal adaptation

My favourite 2023 media: year round-up

In no meaningful order. Not putting anything I'd rank 3/7 or lower because I don't feel like being negative rn.

For context with the way I do rankings:

A 4 is what almost everything gets, that's just 'it was good, I liked it.' Anything 4 or higher gets my recommendation.

On the lower side of that, 3 is 'I liked it, but it had issues that prevent me from recommending it,' and 2 is 'I had basically no opinion on it, it didn't change my life at all/was forgettable.'

To get a 5, something has to set a new high bar for me. To get a 6, it has to be so good that I don't think I'll ever see something that matches it (within it's genre/medium) ever again, or something I think is like, universally awesome/'the best of the best'

1 and 7 are special, and more about my opinion than their quality. A 1 is something I hated so much that I wish I hadn't seen it. A 7 is something that I can't stop thinking about because it makes me feel in a whole new way.

Rankings

Armoured Core 6 (video game) - There are very few games I've beaten. There are significantly fewer games I've beaten twice. I beat Armoured Core 3 times just to see extra story. 7/7

Frieren (anime/manga) - read both the manga and watched the anime, very good. 6/7

Jujutsu Kaisen S2 (anime) - It's a bit meh, but the animation is so good I have to give it a 5/7 - it's worth watching just for that.

The Eminence in Shadow S2 (anime) - Utterly trashy. I love it. 4/7.

Undead Unluck (anime) - Like it quite a bit. 4/7.

Call of the Night (anime) - I watched through this twice, and it totally took over my brain. 7/7.

Pale (web serial) - finally came to an end after years. This story was such a big part of my life for so long, I don't think I could give it less than a 7/7.

Katalepsis (web serial) - This story gave me a new kind of dysphoria I didn't know existed /pos. 7/7

WataMote (manga) - the first time I've experienced 'cringe comedy' and actually enjoyed it. The MC is sadly relatable. 5/7. Couldn't get into the anime.

I'm In Love With the Villainess (anime) - Enjoyable. I think it has a lot of potential it's not using, but there's nothing wrong with what it is doing. 4/7

Slay the Princess (visual novel) - I have basically no experience with visual novels, but I could tell this was something special. 5/7

Pale Lights (web serial) - amazing writing as always from EE. This is currently a 6/7 because I just love this author's style and stories

MTG Pauper Format (trading card game) - got into this recently, it's the most fun I've had playing magic ever. 5/7.

The Great S1 (TV show) - hilarious. Haven't watched the new seasons. 4/7

The Scholomance Series (novels) - awesome depiction of a magical school, fun writing, brutally hilarious. 5/7.

Necroepilogos (web serial) - a setting I thought wouldn't work, but it totally did. 5/7, but could definitely get a 6/7 in hindsight - it's so imaginative and unique that I could go either way.

The Witch From Mercury S2 (anime) - I really liked it, although not as much as the first season. Ik people have problems with it, but I'd still give it a 4/7.

There's a notable lack of TTRPGs on this list, and that's because I've been mostly just playing a fantasy system me and my partner have been working on. In 2024 I'd like to get to a few films and shows I missed, as well as play more new TTRPGs.

Eminence of the shadow S2 Trailer

I think I’ve figured out the secret sauce that makes the Eminence in Shadow so fun to watch in spite of the female objectification. (for me specifically I’m not speaking for anyone else) It’s that the main character is this overconfident, narcissist, power fantasy,

that loses.

Oh sure, everything works out in the end for everyone else, but Cid doesn’t always get what he wants. Especially in s2. Twice now he’s had these get rich quick schemes that leave him with substantially less than what he wanted, or straight up nothing cuz in episode 7 he walks away right before Delta found the basket.

Now granted he doesn’t always lose, a lot of the fun of s1 was seeing him pull off this crazy shit, but it’s nice that it’s possible. Also his personality in general has a lot more to it than 90% of these guys. But I like that even tho it all works out in the end, he’s too much of a dumbass to notice and also, doesn’t get what he wants how he wanted it.

Another awesome episode. Arguably the best of the second season. The John Smith vs Gettan fight was great. John breaking Gettan’s jaw as bro was about to take more of those power up pills was brutal. Then literally beating bro to death, Jesus

What I liked most about this one though was how the misunderstandings kept piling up one after another eventually leading to Yukime joining the harem and working as the underbelly of Shadow Garden’s business front. Not to mention she’s now his “precious thing”

More great Delta and Cid interactions at the end of the episode. It’s hilarious how Cid just plays her for a fool in all their convos. “I didn’t make a promise with you” 😂 and well there’s the financial crisis avoided with Delta recovering Gettan’s buried treasure.

Hilarious memey episode that really encapsulates everything good about this series. A series of misunderstandings that snowball into Cid’s master plan.

    comes back. Rurouni kenshin(2023) is a 

    remake of the rurouni kenshin. The story

    begins during the 11th year of the

    Meiji era in Japan (1878) and follows a former

    assassin from the Bakumatsu, known

    as Hitokiri

    Battosai. After his work against the bakufu, he

    becomes Himura Kenshin, a wandering

    swordsman who protects the people of Japan

    with a vow never to take another life.Any

    ways it's 

    a great anime to watch in 2023 because it's

    new 

    animation is totally amazing.

 9. Horimiya The Missing Peices

   As of now everyone should have understood 

   that it's horimiya s2. So, go and watch because

   As the graduation ceremony at Katagiri High

   School comes to an end, Kyouko Hori, her

   boyfriend Izumi Miyamura, and their friends

   begin

   to look back on their time as students. The

   moments they shared together may be fleeting,

   but

   each one is a colorful piece of their precious

   memories.

8. Zom100

    Zom100 bucket list of the dead is a great new

    anime released in 2023. The story is as Akira

    Tendo, a 24-year-old office worker of ZLM,

    discovers himself trapped in a routine and

    meaningless life. He lacks drive and

    motivation 

    since he is disenchanted with his career;

    however,

    when a zombie apocalypse caused by

    experimental bio weaponry unexpectedly

    strikes Tokyo, everything is turned upside

    down. 

    Instead of succumbing to dread, Akira sees this

    as

    an opportunity to experience life to the fullest

    rather than settle for his humdrum existence.

    Hedecides to create a bucket list of 

    everything he

    wants to do before dying in order to not only

    experience it firsthand but also to show that

    he is still alive and well. This decision is made      with a newfound sense of purpose.

7. Mushoku Tensei S2

I am pretty sure everyone already knows 

   mushoku tensei. For who don't know here's 

   the summary:- follows jobless and hopeless man who dies after having a sad and reclusive life and reincarnates in a fantasy world while keeping his memories, determined to enjoy his new life without regrets under the name Rudeus Greyrat.

So go and watch it. Because it's worth

   watching. Because it's here in the list.

6. Eminence In Shadow

Eminence in shadow is great new isekai anime.

Story follows A boy in modern-day Japan desires to be a mastermind who exerts power from the shadows, but in the process of training, gets hit by a truck and dies. He is reborn in a fantasy world as Cid Kagenou, where he maintains a perfectly mediocre appearance as to not stand out and pursue his dream of manipulating from the shadows.

A comedy isekai fantasy with an overpowered

mc. In which a boy becomes a ruler in shadow 

also known as Eminence In Shadow.

5. Bleach Thousand Years Blood War

Any anime fan should know which anime bleach is and if you don't you are not an anime fan. In which I am disappointed to say this not an anime for you. As for those who knows they'd know that it a season 2 finally. So go and watch.i am saying anything more you should already know why it's in 5th place.

4.Oshi No ko

An amazing new anime which was released this year. Which many anime fans swarm to and became content for my tiktok videos. The follows Dr. Goro is reborn as the son of the young starlet Ai Hoshino after her delusional stalker murders him. Now, he wants to help his new mother rise to the top, but what can a child do about the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry. An amazing anime that shows you the dark side of the entertainment industry. A worth watch.

3. Demon Slayer Season 3

I am sure every knows demon slayer. An anime with an amazing art style and a story. Well, it's the 3rd season of the it. Which was released this year. With an new exciting and thrilling arc.

2. Blue Lock

Blue lock a new sports anime released this year which broke the internet. With it amazing storyline and content. The is In 2018, the Japanese national team finished 16th in the FIFA World Cup. As a result, the Japan Football Association hires the football enigma Ego Jinpachi. His master plan to lead Japan to stardom is Blue Lock, a training regimen designed to create the world's greatest egotist striker. Those who fail Blue Lock will never again be permitted to represent any Japanese team. Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school football player conflicted about his playing style, decides to join the program to become the best striker in the world. An amazing adventure in which our main character give everything he got to come out on top.

1. Jujutsu Kaisen S2

Jujutsu kaisen an amazing anime in which the side character is more OP than the main character but still gives us fullfilnessthe jujitsu kaisen's s2 is finallyhcame this year. In the new season it adapts the hidden incident and shibuya arc from the manga. And is starts the thrilling adventure filled with death and sadness.

Winter 2023 - What to Watch

The new year is here and we aren't starting it off slow. There's a lot that look worth checking out so buckle up, this is a long post full of anime recommendations.

Starting with some banger sequels: Vinland Saga S2 Tokyo Revengers S2 The Misfit of Demon King Academy S2 Bofuri S2 The Vampire dies in No Time S2 Bungou Stray Dogs S4 We also have the continuations of these shows, each one, honestly worth a watch: BlueLock My Hero Academia S6 To Your Eternity S2 The Eminence in Shadow All of these are some big name series that'll definitely have their own following. Personally I'm looking forward to the contrast between the seriousness of Vinland Saga and the dumb humour in The Vampire dies in No Time. As for new series, there's definitely a few noteworthy ones:

NieR: Automata Ver 1.1a For all you gamers out there, NieR is finally getting a solid looking anime. But also for those who haven't played the game, this honestly looks like a solid sci-fi series. 100% worth checking it out. Kubo-san Won't Let me be Invisible This is a new series from Shonen Jump. (I believe there's only 3 english volumes out as of now.) It seems like a solid slice of life and there'll definitely be a decent fan following.

Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill This is a series I started reading a while back and it's actually so much fun, I can't believe MAPPA ended up being the ones who picked it up. I think it'll be a solid show and I'm really looking forward to watching it come to life.

Buddy Daddies This looks super fun and cute. It seems similar to Yakuza babysitter but more shonen jump-esque? Genres are comedy and organized crime. Should be a solid series regardless of if there's any similarities to spyxfamily.

Trigun Stampede While I don't know much about the trigun series, I think it's crazy that it looks like this entire show is 100% CGI. I'm interested to see how smooth it actually looks because the trailer looked damn impressive. The Ice Guy and his Cool Female Colleague I've heard about this series and it looks like such a solid adult romance (as in they're actually adults). I'm stoked to have another series like this coming up.

Sugar Apple Fairy Tale The animations look so good 😭I'm such a sucker for this animation style and character design. Something about it just too pretty to not check out. There's also something about it that give me Mushoku tensei vibes. Giant Beasts of Ars This actually looks super different. The concept and creatures look interesting and has an oddly medieval vibe to things. Reminds me a bit of DND. I think it'll be a neat series worth looking into if you're interested in the Kaiju fighting genre. Malevolent Spirits: Monogatari Not going to lie, this looks like a JJK spin off or some kind of smaller SJ series. I'll check it out and see if it actually has any potential, but for now it looks like the standard standout mc with a group of people he's stuck with to fight of spirits. Some additional ones that look interesting:

Revenger I originally thought this would be a write off because it's so low on the list for anticipated series and the name seemed kinda bland, but the trailer actually looks neat. It seems to be an old school action with an anti-hero in old Japan. I can't really explain it well, but definitely worth a look over. Hikari no Ou This is the artsy series for the season. It looks primarily story focused and has the standard artsy animation style (sonny boy, heike monogatari). If you're here for the story, I think this is the one to check out. In/Spectre S2 This series has a solid manga following and seems to have a really interesting concept. Worth taking a look at. Spy Classroom Tbh, I don't think i'll watch this, but it seems like something worth mentioning. Essentially assassination classroom but with spies. If you're looking for the ecchi series - check out: My Life as Inukai-san's Dog This guy's turned into a dog and is kept by the girl he likes. Just 100% ecchi, very limited plot by the looks of it.

And of course, the 3 episode isekai/fantasy section: Farming Life in Another World Not much that needs to be said, but if it can stay as a wholesome farming anime then I'll likely watch a few episodes. The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World The animations look pretty solid and it seems like there might be some interesting creatures/plot points to this one. Worth a few episodes at least. Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte Interesting take on the current theme of entering shoujo games. Essentially these 2 friends are somehow able to talk to the mc in a love game, confusing him and pretty much acting as the angel and the devil on his shoulder. Final Notes: There's a bunch more out that that I ended up not including just for quality's sake. Save you guys the pain of all the isekais out there this season. At the end of the day, there's some really solid sequels of much loved shows and just as many decent looking new series. My guess is that if Buddy Daddies actually holds it's ground against some of the others, it'll be one of the underdogs of the season.

Man, I enjoyed The Eminence Shadow S2 even more than S1. In the first season, while I knew what the show was doing, it still felt like it was taking itself a bit too seriously at times. Meanwhile, S2 took the contrast between reality vs Cid's edgelord LARPing up to 11, doubled down on the jokes, and as a result it was just so much funnier and more on point to me. Plot was dense, and the story was honestly great. The Blood Moon arc was the only one that felt a bit rushed. Now if only we could dedicate a little bit more time to it instead of having an entire episode of pointless hot springs filler in a 12 episode season... That's like almost 10% of the runtime, I get what the target audience of this show is, but come on.

so yeah I was sold.

2.) Natsumugi: Soon after I read Bogie Time, I watched the anime and I did have a basic understanding on the character relationships (because of the videos the fandom has made)

I see myself a lot in Natsume and also relate to Tsumugi quite a concerning bit so double the projection, double the enjoyment I presume :3

3.) TetoHina: I lowkey really really like Tetora, and I also do enjoy YuuShino, but Natsumugi sort of just took most of my attention. See— I saw this one video about TetoraPs reading his personality description in the wiki a lot <- got curious. Also because TetoHina is just a really nice dynamic, they're both so funny... I don't specifically see this ship as platonic nor romantic but stuff like..
