Submas Monster Hunter Au:

after way, way to many discussions with @robocatfan, I’m increasingly interested in writing a fanfic of the boys entering the Monster Hunter Universe. These are just some various, assorted thoughts on this topic. There are several of them, so i’m putting them under a readmore. 

-They almost immediately befriend Hinoa and Minoto.

-The two have a slight distaste of Hunters at first, but quickly realize that this world follows different rules then the ones they do, and that hunters generally aren’t acting out of coldness/cruelty. 

-The two are running off of Logic from another Universe, and as such just end up being incredibly lucky to the point that their survival makes no sense, and confuses all the other characters around them. (Things like asking various Large, Dangerous monsters for directions to the nearby town. This incredibly confused Nargacuga just grabs some random other hunter and takes them to the twins, because something is clearly wrong, and this is a Human Issue for Humans to Deal With. )

Somehow they’ve just befriended Assorted Dangerous monsters like Magnamalo and Astalos, and effectively take the role of Riders rather then Hunters. Even they don’t know how they befriended these monsters, lacking important things like kinstones.

-The two are completely unequipped to handle armor at all , or 90% of the heavier weapons. Emmet ends up with a kinsect because Insects), and Ingo using a gunlance. Nether of them are particularly skilled with the weapons at first. Also I like to imagine Emmet is still scared of heights, because Irony.

I have absolutely no idea what armor sets they would have.

That said Emmet is 100% wearing the Boar mask.

-The two end up being assigned two Guardians of sorts. (A hunter and a Rider to teach these world-travelers the ropes of their world, and keep them safe from dangerous monsters, ). The hunter is named Artie.

-When they actually get used to the way the world works, the two probably start taking careers more involving entertainment. Raising monsties for complicated and dangerous Arena fights, with their monsters generally being significantly more dangerous and smarter then the average wild monster of the same species. The goals’ always entertainment and improving a hunter’s skills, and as such monsties are not allowed to actively be hunted. (At a certain point the battle would end, )

-Emmet has a Palimute, and Ingo gets a Palico companion.

-They probably can drive an airship. Its no train, and nether really enjoy the idea of it, but they could easily figure out how to drive an airship.

-90% of this au is just the twins doing something completely baffling that should in no way remotely work, but it somehow works out anyway, and no one knows why/how it is. (Pokemon tends to be pretty lighthearted in terms of tone, while Monster hunter is often more serious its still got a sense of humor to it. )

as ive been playing around w/ aus and comics (most not finished and thus not posted, just like scripts and doodles) i am now forming Opinons on ingo's pkmn history and personality!

so i was free writing comic ideas and i like to minimize ingo's time in hisui == day 2, ingo vanishes from pearl clan medi-tent, like irida just walks in and He's Gone. cue man hunt but ingo pops outta the bushes like 3-4hrs later. irida spots him 1st and mistakes the newly caught gliscor as an attacking pkmn. but when she tries to pull ingo out of the line of fire, ingo snags the gliding gliscor to also pull him along. irida: what. ingo: what? this is my new pkmn? whats that face for? ingo reveals that he not only caught gliscor but also a big machoke! punchline of comic is the cultural disconnect of ingo being like 'all adults have pkmn, pkmn are essential for indepedence, this world looks even more dangerous so i def need pkmn, how will anyone treat me seriously w/o pkmn??' to irida's pov being 'what a goddamn madman! who does this?!? how did he pull that off he has a concussion!?! why??'

onto personalities:

gliscor reminds ingo of emmet w/ its smile! the gliscor quickly clocks how much ingo needs him, and takes its emotional support duties v seriously! gliscor is always keeping one eye on ingo's mood and ready to provide a grin or a cuddle! ingo enjoys stimming by petting gliscor's smooth, exoskeleton! gliscor is pretty protective; he'll snarl or growl at offending ppl/pkmn but wont leave ingo's side w/o explicit orders.

machoke has great himbo energy and only notices ingo's downturning mood when gliscor makes a move or ingo starts spontaneously crying (remember early days! i want ingo to like slowly grow more accustomed to hisui and process his hidden grief! also ingo must b under a lot of stress/fear bc lacking memories). machoke loves ingo and how having a trainer progresses machoke in new, unheard of ways. machoke helps ingo move supplies, and eventually helps ingo construct a little cabin. =machoke naturally helpful and as ingo cant practice martial arts alongside machoke this is next best option for raising a fighting type pokemon. machoke rlly likes battling but in a kind of martial-arty, techinque focused way? if that makes sense? machoke isnt agressive; even in battles its more of a cool focus.

tangela! i want her to be a firecracker!! a can of whoop ass in flavor CHAOS!! i enjoy the contrast between tangela's cute looks and later tangrowth's 'gentle giant'ness with all this spunk amd energy! tangela starts shit and is always ready to throw down! like if there is an inter-pokemon conflict, tangela is getting in the middle and throwing on gasoline. if a baby sneasel wants a fight, tangela will not hold back! a wild pkmn getting too close to ingo? tangela strikes first!! tangela rlly loves ingo and gets into spats w/ gliscor on who gets to hang off the man. however she must admit gliscor is must better at comforting ingo

Final thoughts

i genuinely hate these episodes. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever watch them again. Even with another watch through.. they’re not as well written or directed as other episodes, they’re unbelievable in the cannon of the show and breaks their own rules, not to mention the sheer heartbreak

Bregman is one of the most unlikeable characters in the show. If Simmons had of been alive he could have been in the episode too just to add to the trifecta of cunts!

Cassie should have been at the memorial

they make you think Jack is dead so we won’t worry about janet to what? make it more of a shock? because it doesn’t work. It should never have been designed to make us feel relief at Janet’s death because it wasn’t Jack! It doesn’t do her justice. 

Janet Fraiser was a smart woman with a massive heart. She was brave and strong and she cared for everyone even when they were arseholes. She had a bit of fun with SG1 sometimes too. She was an incredible Dr, mother and friend.  Janet was tiny but tough. Something that i aim for. I’m 5ft2 so basically the same as Janet and believe it or not i’ve had people question my ability to be a good teacher because noone will take me seriously. Janet always made me feel like people would take me seriously and that even though I’m small, I can do big things. She encouraged me to be a good person with a heart of gold. Her death hits really hard for that reason. but also because she was an incredible character who deserved more than what she was given. Hardly any screen time and then murdered to make some sort of point that didn’t need making??? Not to mention she’s mentioned twice in the next three seasons and when she “comes back” in Ripple Effect she spends almost no time with Sam which makes exactly 0 sense. 

Someone recently said they heard she was killed because the writers didn’t know how much more time they had and wanted to wrap some stuff up? Lets not forget that they made the end of this season a huge cliff hanger... but I’m still not sure what we could wrap up with her death? She had a fucking child!

Any way I won’t be watching this again. I’m sorry this isn’t much fun but hopefully you’ve got a giggle out of me swearing at the idiots

Submas monster hunter au, because I increasingly want to write this fanfic, but I figure i should take notes

-The twins eventually are partnered with a Rider and a Hunter, named Akemï and Artie, Respectively.

-Akemi main Monstie a Seregios, who is named Shyle. (pronounced like the words ‘Shy’ and ‘Lee’ together, )

-Akemi went to the village, seeking a hunter that had harmed one of the monsters around her village. (Her village being a desert-one, given the Seregios.) The specific causes are still being worked out though. 

-Akemi is a fairly serious rider who does like to egg on her hunting partners, and often mispronounces monsters names. (Rathalos=Rethalas, for example. Or spelling Artie as ‘Arty’ )

-Do to the twins following Pokemon Logic, they end up fairing a lot better against intelligent monsters, who could see the usefulness of diplomacy and partnerships. This also means they do a lot worse when they face monsters that are more wild. Things like the Great Baggi are more wake up calls for them.

(Basically my excuse for how the logic of ‘Emmet immediately gets an Astalos Egg and befriends them, but they get nearly carted by a izuchi’ works)

-Ingo and Emmet probably both play the rider role, which likely means the Story 2 rules are in effect for them. (Having 3 weapons they can switch between.)

-Their group does not have a dedicated healer, and probably doesn’t have anyone buffing the party ether, except for the rare times Ingo plays Hunting Horn. He is so loud that this effects hunting parties in completely different regions.  This is a Constant Problem.
