What are Dreams?!

Accordingly, to the most accepted theory, dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep. They can be influenced by a person's memories, emotions, and experiences, and can be vivid and realistic or abstract and surreal. The function and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, but theories suggest they may play a role in processing and consolidating memories, regulating emotions, and problem-solving.

In some spiritual or mystical beliefs, vivid dreams are thought to have a deeper significance or meaning beyond the subconscious mind. They may be interpreted as messages from a higher power or the universe, or as a way to connect with a spiritual realm.

In traditional indigenous cultures, dreamtime is a sacred state in which the dreamer can communicate with the spirit world, receive guidance and healing, and gain knowledge about the past, present, and future. In some spiritual practices, lucid dreaming or dream control is used as a tool for self-discovery and spiritual growth.

In some Abrahamic religions, dreams are seen as a way that God or a higher power can communicate with individuals, providing guidance, warnings, or revelations.

It's worth noting that these are just a few examples, and different cultures and belief systems have their own unique interpretations of the meaning and significance of dreams.

Some people may try to integrate science and spirituality in their personal beliefs, drawing on elements from both to create a unique worldview. Some new religious movements or spiritual practices may also incorporate scientific ideas or methods.

However, it's worth noting that science and spirituality are two distinct ways of understanding and explaining the world, with their own methods, principles and goals. Science relies on empirical evidence and logical reasoning, while spirituality often relies on faith and personal experience. The two can be complementary, but sometimes they can also be in conflict.

Some people argue that science and spirituality can be integrated by recognizing that science explains the natural world and spirituality explains the meaning and purpose of life. Others argue that a new type of religion that combines science and spirituality could be created, but it would have to be based on a common ground, understanding and respect for the different ways of knowing.

It's also worth noting that some scientists, as well as some spiritual leaders, may disagree with the idea of combining science and spirituality, as they see them as fundamentally incompatible.

The child-poverty rate fell to a record low in 2016 (15.6%). But it’s still too high - way too high for a country with so much wealth (we are behind 30 other industrialized economies including Poland, Mexico, and Estonia, as well as countries like Japan, Germany, and France. 

The causes of this decline in the US child-poverty rate:

Expansion of the safety net—in particular through the food-stamp program and provisions like the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.

That finding comes from a new analysis of government and academic data by Isaac Shapiro and Danilo Trisi, both researchers at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a nonpartisan, Washington-based think tank. The child-poverty rate declined to 15.6 percent in 2016, the researchers found, down from a post-recession high of 18.1 percent in 2012 and from 28.4 percent in 1967.

Empirical evidence, also known as sense experience, is the knowledge or source of knowledge acquired by means of the senses, particularly by observation and experimentation.

Time as a tribute was so scheduled that Sam could hardly breathe. He wasn’t an idiot. He knew well that interviews and fittings would occur. But should their outfits be more important than their training? He had perfected his craft to the best of his ability, and though the training room could teach him nothing else in the form of offense, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t devote every free minute to trying. This was his life he was practicing to defend here. They should treat the volunteers with more respect. 

Despite never guessing he’d have to, Sam would tiptoe through his suite, not wanting his mentor to find him as he started his escape. The man would pass the dessert table on his way out and he’d grab himself a frosted treat. He didn’t always indulge, but he’d give in to all that now. Not in thought that he may soon die, but just the knowledge that food in the arena would be scarce and he’d have dreams then of such opportunities.

Getting around was somehow easier than he expected. There were plenty of cameras, of course, but the worst that could happen, should someone use them, would be an escort back to his room. Possibly a slap on the wrist. 

They should commend my dedication. My strength. My desire to please the Capitol. My need to bring pride to my family and my district..

Somehow Sam had become awfully good at talking himself up. Some thought modestly about themselves and couldn’t take a compliment to heart. But Sam, well, he had no problems there. He thought, more often than not, that he wasn’t awarded enough praise. People were always so hard on those who were perfect..

Coming into the training center, he found it lit, and fully functional. The room echoed somewhat louder without the people, making his steps feel all the more commanding and powerful. Looking around at the weapons, the man gave thought to the possibility of no blade or spear. Should his opportunity at the cornucopia be limited, he may have to make a weapon from something else.. 

Picking up a staff, Bear would move to the center of a training circle, taking a deep breath before going through a practiced routine of moves.
