A silly thought I had while doing wordle earlier: Does scrabble or some alternative word game exist in the pokemon world?? If so I’d imagine Twig would always be accused by her friends of “making up” words whenever she tries to use words from English that don’t exist in pokespeak.

There’s 100% word games like Scrabble in the pokemon world! One in particular that’s especially popular is called Shoreline, which is a reference to modernized footprint runes being the script used for pokespeak and trails of footprints being made in the sand on beaches. Kip is an exceptionally skilled player of this game. Twig will always sits rounds out though, because she has horrible spelling know-how and always loses as a result.

At times she’s accidentally tried to use English words that she spelled out in footprint runes during games, and everyone was super confused except for Grovyle, who added an “S” onto her “SOUP” without batting an eye.

If someone with more than one name (bc they were raised multilingual) gives one of their names to a fae, would the fae have full power over that person or partial? Like only have power over them on Monday and Tuesday

I believe this would fall into the same category of whenever any fae only has one part of name - for example, only the given name but not the surname.

In some stories, "giving" your name means giving all of it, even any parts you didn't say out loud, because of what it symbolizes. In some stories it's the opposite and a partial name is still powerless without the full "true name", in others it gives the fairy some power over you, but not total power. That is I believe part of the reason middle names that you don't generally share are a thing in some cultures- if you keep the middle name secret, you will retain part of yourself still even if any one can learn your given and surname. So I guess if you have different names in the different languages, and a fae only gets one of the names, whichever of the above would apply to a monolingually named person would apply to you as well.

havin a little acknowledge-your-own-bias moment as I realize that oh yeah, of course, the reason Unown is considered mysterious runes you have to decipher and not just. a fairly hard to read font is bc the place that came up with Unown doesn't use those letters

never really thought about that, back when I was a dumb stupid kid I just learned the letters p easily bc they're the letters I've already been using and just thought "oh yeah it's not that hard so that my fellow dumb stupid kids have a chance at figuring this out" and granted it's probably also that but I'm guessing it'd look a lot weirder and harder to figure out and more foreign if the letters are, in fact, literally foreign
