Hey can I get a Englund character piece (phantom, Freddy, buckman, or whoever you want) comforting their significant other who’s been stressed out at work. This one is from personal experience as I’m a cashier at a grocery store and we’re getting out asses handed to us and people are not nice. Thank you so so much and happy belated birthday.
Aww thank you so much for the belated birthday wishes, hon! I appreciate it very much <3 I'm sorry this took so long to fulfill, but hey, better late than never I hope lol. I decided to add in Inkubus and Warden Kane mostly because those two are also pretty underrated, and the more Englund characters the better!
Hope you enjoy it~
Englund Characters x GN!Reader
Rating: Mature; does have some sexual references but nothing too in depth
Tumblr media
Freddy
If you want comfort, you may not exactly get it in a typical way with Freddy. He loves to pick on you, and naturally, it's because he cares, so the more he annoys the absolute hell out of you, the more he shows that he cares.
He's not one to pick up on cues that you're exhausted, you don't want to deal with any more bullshit, especially when you're at home and trying to rest. So you'd have to spell it out for him immediately if you want him to catch the idea.
"Aww someone is grumpy, aren't they?" He'd tease you relentlessly until you either stopped responding or snapped at him. Freddy wouldn't be offended either way. But if you did just sit there and tell him you couldn't handle him today, he'd cozy up to you but with something in mind.
You knew his tricks and how he thought, well, sometimes you did. But when his glove magically disappeared for a moment and his hands began to deeply tub at your aching muscles, once he got that first official moan of pleasure to tumble from your lips, you knew you were in danger of his charms. It was hard to resist when he would lay it on extra thick.
"C'mon, you know you wanna, plus I never hear you complainin' when I make you scream." His hands would go lower, and pushing him away was hard when he was making all the right moves with his fingers.
So Freddy would definitely take care of you and make sure your sleep would be extra worth the annoyance he dished out at you.
Tumblr media
Erik
Eric is a tender soul although very tortured as it was, so when you'd come back home feeling extra stressed and drained from today's events, he'd understand immediately. He's one who'd cater to your every whim if it was attainable, and if you asked extra sweetly, he'd make it happen somehow.
You were his world, so the least he could do for you was to make sure you felt absolutely pampered when you'd be home. He didn't quite understand why you put yourself through that constantly, but to a degree, he knew there weren't many options.
Eric would even offer to do something for you in return, like writing music and possibly selling it off to people who could appreciate it, but you refused to let him do that for you. It was a sweet gesture though, and you thanked him profusely for it.
So he did the next best thing: he ran you a relaxing bath with as many candles and flowers as he could manage to set up. There would be no other work for you to do, he would take care of it all, and he'd pop in every so often to make sure you weren't cleaning anything up.
Afterward, he'd greet you with your robe and wrap it around your frame, peppering your shoulders with kisses and gentle touches. He couldn't help but grab you and hold you, thankful that you'd be with someone like him after all he'd done and been through, but he also thought he was the luckiest guy in the world.
Eric would be one of the sweeter ones if you were to be in a relationship with him, especially since if he loves someone, he loves them hard and unwavering. A very dedicated man who would happily show you that you should have the world at your feet, even if it's just because of a stressful day.
Tumblr media
Mayor Buckman
Mayor Buckman is no stranger to having rough days, but ever since he'd become mayor, they were more mental exhaustion rather than physical exhaustion. And now that he was a vengeful spirit that didn't need to eat, sleep, or do much of anything other than killing, it was much easier for him to go about his business.
But upon meeting you, he found out you were a hard worker and did all you could in order to earn that paycheck you needed, and he respected that. So when you'd come back into Pleasant Valley looking like you'd been run ragged, he ordered his boys not to bother you as much and asked Granny Boone to make you your favorite dish for dinner as a surprise.
When he saw that you went upstairs to relax in your room, he came up to visit a while later and asked if you needed anything, in particular, to help you unwind. You thanked him but just wanted to rest, so he slipped out of the room and allowed you to do whatever you wanted to do in order to unwind.
A few hours later, Buckman knocked on the door, which jolted you from a nap. "Sorry to interrupt, darlin', we just wanted to let you know dinner is downstairs. We're havin' a nice little outdoor picnic, you rarin' to join?" You thanked him and said to give you ten minutes in order to wake up and change.
When you were greeted at the last step of the staircase, Buckman held out his arm and guided you to the large picnic table they had out where they'd throw their barbecues, and he waited till you were seated before you and him shared in a very delicious meal together. You told him to thank Granny Boone for working so hard. "She's always happy to spoil you," Buckman would say.
Something simplistic as sharing in your favorite meal after a rough day was one of the best feelings, and you were thankful you got to spend it in peace and in the presence of your favorite person.
Tumblr media
Inkubus
Being around an incubus of all things was draining in itself since he used a lot of serial energy to feed himself, but on days when you were feeling particularly roughed up, he'd back off and wouldn't suggest feeding from your energy, instead, he kept it simple and used good old fashioned romance to make you swoon.
Considering he'd been around humans and dealt with them for millennia, he knew that nothing cheered people up quite like a good old-fashioned shopping trip. Since he was quite well off financially, although he really had no need for such trivial things, it gave him the opportunity to show you in gifts to help cheer you up.
You looked at a book through the window and stared at it for more than five seconds. It was yours, now. A cute outfit that made you think you'd look like a million bucks? What size did you want, because you were getting it. You scolded him sometimes for his wasteful spending habits, but he waved you off and just laughed. "If spending money on my favorite human and seeing that very cute smile on your face is wasteful, then I guess I'm the worst ever, aren't I?"
You couldn't help but feel special after he'd tell you that he loved seeing that smile go from innocent and fun to devilish and sexy, especially if you were to wear a new outfit just for him, and he even urged you to pick out whatever skimpy little outfit you wanted to try, because he'd happily buy it for you.
It was just in his nature, and no matter how much he tried to keep his hands off of you, it proved to be insanely difficult to do so. So when you were both back in the privacy of your place, Inkubus wouldn't be able to stop himself from dropping to his knees and servicing you right there in the kitchen. He tried his best not to wear you out any further, so he figured the best way to do that was make sure you were relaxed while he did most of the work..
Luckily for you, you didn't mind so much if he were to take care of you like this, and you were thankful he didn't push you to do things you didn't want to do, but you found it rather cute how he could barely keep his hands to himself, even if he promised to behave. It's just how it was being bound to an incubus, after all.
Tumblr media
Warden Kane
The Warden knows what it's like to have an awfully stressful day, that's practically an everyday occurrence for him, but that's why he works hard, so you don't have to. When he sees you coming home looking like you hadn't slept in weeks, he almost wanted to call and complain to your job that if they couldn't hire extra help around the place, maybe THEY should step up and do the extra work. He was always aggressive when it came to your job, he knew people were being worn down, he didn't want that for you.
You'd wave him off, telling him that it wasn't that bad and you were just doing the work you were asked to do, but he wasn't having it. An hour or so later, he came back to you with a smug smile on his face and handed you your phone, which you forgot in the kitchen. "What did you do?" You asked suspiciously, to which he only answered with a chuckle.
"I may or may not have landed you a week's paid vacation starting next week", he bragged. You always gave him an exasperated sigh and rolled your eyes, but if anyone could do it, it would be him. So you thanked him and couldn't wait to do absolutely nothing on your newly obtained vacation. He wondered exactly what you'd get up to, and he even went as far as asking if you could both share in at least one of those days.
"Why don't you take a break, too? You're always working and it's constantly. Take a couple of days with me, please?" You'd bat your eyes and push your lip out into a pout, hoping he'd cave in and take a little break with you. You both worked so hard, you both deserved it. So after some convincing, he finally called into his job and said he'd take several days off, which they didn't have a problem with anyway.
When the day finally came for you both to have a few days off together, the Warden wasn't exactly good at spoiling anyone, let alone someone he'd been with. Work was always his priority, so when you came into his life, he had to learn by trial and error. So he made sure to tell you he didn't know how to plan anything when it came to having time off, he was only used to a day or so, so you promised you'd help him along the way.
Dinners, simple movie nights staying inside, and even having fun just taking a drive somewhere to get out of town were what you both partook in. Kane was having the time of his life with you beside him, and he couldn't help but want to plan more vacation times with you. "So uh, would you be mad if I said I could get you a vacation once a month?" He'd ask sweetly. All you could do was laugh. "Don't push your luck TOO far, honey."

Unlikely Hero
Fandom: The Last Showing
Pairing: Stuart Lloyd & Reader (platonic with hints of something else?)
Word Count: 1,659
Warnings: Non-con touching, hints of a potential abusive relationship (not Stuart)
Author's Note: I imagine this taking place after the movie with Stuart having a plan to try and make another film. Dramatic man that he is. A follow up to Called In for Call Outs.
Tagging: @slashingdisneypasta (hope you don't mind)
Tumblr media
It felt a little odd, coming to the theater without being there for work. These days, you mainly watched most of your movies at home. But it had been even longer since you had been on a date. The theater seemed the most neutral and safest location to have chosen. As you looked around though, you began to second guess that decision since there seemed to be a rather thin crowd gathered around. Really, you had thought that there would be more people at midnight shows and special events. Especially after the theater had gained some local notoriety. Too late to do anything about it now though.
Having arrived early, you purchased your own ticket. There wasn't any expectation for your date to have to pay for anything. It felt a little awkward anyway, being a first-time meeting in person. Pushing the thought from your head, lest you end up getting too nervous and bailing out, you wandered around the lobby for a few moments before spotting a familiar face standing around the concession stand. Now, that wasn't entirely usual. Wondering what he was doing, you moved over to greet him.
“Here at Midnight Cinema…” He paused mid-sentence and the bored look gave way when his eyes finally landed on you. There was the smile that you were far more familiar with.
“Evening, Stuart.”
“Well, good evening.” You leaned against the counter a little bit, giving the man a smile in return. It wasn't right, having him behind the counter like this. The theater only ran because of him. Yeah, they had made the transition to basically all digital, something that you did bemoan with him when it happened, but there was still a need for his skill sets. If not projection, at least running everything else. “It is a surprise to see you here this evening…”
“Yeah, a little surprising for me too,” you offered back with a small laugh. “They got you here behind the counter, huh?” Before he was able to say anything in response, someone appeared beside you.
“Hey, I thought I was going to meet you outside.” The voice was enough to cause you to straighten, turning to look at your date.
“It was a bit chilly, so I came in.” Not the entire truth. But, there wasn't any harm in that little white lie.
“Ah, already got your ticket then? Shall we get some snacks?” He turned his attention to Stuart. Your focus stayed on him for just a moment longer. You missed the way that Stuart's smile seemed to slip ever so slightly as your date’s hand rested against your lower back, causing you to shift on your feet enough to pull away some. Too much, too quickly. “How about some popcorn and a soda? Yeah, let's go with that.” He made a motion towards Stuart, as if to get him to move more quickly. Immediately, you smacked at his arm.
“Don't be an asshole. This theater wouldn't be what it is without Stuart. He kept this place running and could with his eyes closed even now. Have a little respect.” His head jerked back, and he looked at you like you had grown ten heads. As if to say that the man behind the counter was simply help and you were both above him. A major strike, something that caused you to pull away some more.
“It's alright, dear.” Stuart jumped in, the smile far more tight than it had been before. The smile that he often gave the manager that was running the theater now. Perhaps a little better than the last young man that had run it but still, completely unaware and unappreciative of the man and his skills. Unhappy. The poor man didn't deserve to be disrespected the way that he was.
“No, it's not. Apologize.” The last word was directed at your date, who opted to roll his eyes and mutter out a rather pathetic apology. That spoke a volume about his character, something that was all but impossible to assess over phone calls and video chat. Treatment of others, especially when it came to others that were in what were typically considered lower end service jobs, spoke volumes about a person. Right now, you were certainly not liking what you were seeing. Stuart set down the popcorn and soda. “Thank you very much, Stuart.”
******
The movie itself was enjoyable to a degree. You weren't the biggest fan of horror. But since you had decided on going to the movies, he had decided on which movie. But still, you could appreciate some of the decisions and aspects about it. The problem? Your date thought you would be a little more frightened and clingy than what was reality. Several times, he had tried to get handsy to the point that you had to bat them away. The whole evening was turning into an abundant mistake. This was a huge part of the reason that you didn't bother dating anymore. Because of assholes who didn't respect others or boundaries. Well, ultimately, it was a waste of an evening. There wasn't anything that could make it end quick enough at this rate. The very seconds seemed to tick by painfully slow.
The quiet halls greeted you as you left, seemingly no one else left in the place. He had insisted on waiting until the others had filed out, likely in hopes of getting a little luckier than he had during the film, but you had no interest. Actually, you couldn't possibly have any less than you did. If it wouldn't have been terrible rude, you would have left during the movie.
“Keep your hands to yourself.” God, how many times did he need to be told before he got the hint? A disgruntled sound came from your right, and your space was crowded once more. Apparently, more than just the last hint and the numerous ones before that. Pressure around your wrist pulled you to a stop. Tightening pressure.
“Listen, you've been acting totally frigid all damn night.” Frigid? It was a first date. You were too old to be playing these sorts of games and went to jerk your wrist out of his hold but weren't able to break the grasp. A flash of panic, throat constricting for a second. This was why you had met in public.
“You're kidding, right? This is a first date!”
“Is there a problem here?” You couldn't have been any more relieved than you were right then to hear the familiar voice. Stuart had happened upon the two of you.
“Listen, just mind your own damn business old man.” There would be a bruise minimum as his grip tightened further, now bordering on painful.
“Christ. You are an ass.” The comment spit out before you could help it, now openly wincing at the pain that radiated up your arm.
“I think you should keep your hands to yourself and move on.” Never did you expect Stuart of all people to stand up for you. At that moment, it was nice to know someone else cared. At least enough to try to help.
“And just what are you going to do about it?” Stuart stepped closer, surprising you and your date. Something flickered across his face, the way that his muscles jumped in his jaw. For a moment, the presence of the man that you knew seemed to flee. But you were the only one who picked up on it.
“I suggest that you listen to the wishes of your date and release your hold.” The underlying threat felt deeper, but apparently, your date wasn't buying it. When Stuart's hand flicked to his side, you were shocked to see a gun. Where the hell did Stuart get a gun? That seemed to have finally properly grabbed the attention of the man beside you, though. With one last squeeze, he shoved you away from him.
“Ain't worth it anyway.” Cradling your injured wrist to your chest, you watched him walk off, not realizing that Stuart was moving closer to you. What the hell had just happened?
“We really should get that looked at,” Stuart murmured gently, pulling you out of the daze that you had fallen into. “At the very least, you will likely need it wrapped.” Gone was whatever had come over the man, and he was back to the Stuart that you knew.
“Thank you.” The relief was evident even to your own ears. You wanted to ask him why he had a gun, why he was working the midnight shift, and what had happened, but all the thoughts flew from your brain at that moment. Instead, you leaned into the comforting touch that came with him wrapping an arm around your shoulders. Maybe the gun had happened after the last mess here where that young man had lost his mind and nearly killed his girlfriend and Stuart. That made the most sense. “Remind me to never date again.”
“Hardly think spending all your time alone is how you really want your life to turn out. Perhaps you simply need to do a better job of vetting your candidates.” That brought out a small laugh from you as he led you towards the back and one of the offices. “I'll accompany you to the hospital.” The offer came without any prompt right now. You didn't think you could turn it down. Driving would be a bitch with one hand anyway.
“That would be lovely. I can't thank you enough.” The smile was light, comforting, and familiar. Something much needed after the events of the evening.
“Nothing you need to thank me for,” he hummed as he finished carefully wrapping your wrist. “There. That should at least help until the medical professionals have taken a proper look.” Handing him the keys to your car, you were never more thankful for the friendship that you have formed with the man than you were right then.

So because of how some artists on Tumblr sometimes draw him with his hair in his face, a part of me really wants to draw fanart of 2004 Riddler just doing mundane everyday things, but standing in such a way that his hair makes him look like Sadako.

Might Just Save You Yet
Fandom: 2001 Maniacs, Robert Englund characters
Pairings: Hinted Buckman x female reader
Word Count: 2,905
Warnings: This whole movie serves as a warning
Author's Note: *throws hands up in the air* I guess this is a thing? Englund characters won't leave me alone. But really, as fucked up as this movie is, there's a charm to the character that there shouldn't be and damn it, Robert makes him likeable to a degree. Tagging: @slashingdisneypasta & @tinalbion Hope you guys enjoy! There are two other ideas coming for this fool.
Tumblr media
When you woke up just as the two in front had decided to take the detour, you briefly wondered how the hell they had made it into college in the first place. The detour sign was not official, and it didn't take a genius to see that. Because the jagged wood, painted letters, and backward lettering itself, it could not have possibly been any more obvious. But, the three knuckleheads you had somehow gotten stuck with to make it down for Florida for spring break had decided that the detour sign had to be followed.
“Seriously? Are we really taking directions from a homemade detour sign?” Anderson chuckled softly.
“Ah, calm down. It's nothing you gotta worry about.” Nothing.. lord help you the man that you called a brother was an absolute idiot at times. How you were related remained a mystery.
“When we are all disembowed in the back woods with no one coming to ever find us, don't blame me.’
“Jesus Christ, way to be over dramatic. This is why you have no friends.” You rolled your eyes.
“Maybe if you were a little more mindful, you could actually get a girl to pay attention to you, Nelson.” The other two laughed as you gave it right back to their friend. You probably should have just stuck with your original plan to fly down to Florida. You weren't staying at the beach house with the boys. No, a week-long externship had come up at a clinic that exclusively worked with veterans, and you had jumped at the chance. It wasn't like you were going to do anything besides relax and maybe draw some while on spring break anyway, and the opportunity was too good to pass up.
Anderson had told you that they were driving through, so he and his friends would pick you up instead. He had said that he wanted to see you. Part of you suspected that Corey and Nelson, friends of his since middle school, had wanted to take another shot at hooking up with you. Like damn dogs, they continued to bark up that tree every so often.
“Like you would know what it took to get a guy anyway. You're an uptight bitch.” You swallowed a retort, knowing that nothing you said would help the situation. Anderson finally jumped in.
“Hey, hey. Okay, there's no need for that now. Everyone just calm down. Besides, look, there is a town right here.” He pulled up slowly, easing off the gas as you made your way through what seemed to be an abandoned town. Everything looked like it was right out of a history book. Maybe it was a reenactment setup? They had plenty of those scattered in odd locations. You had a few friends who took it very seriously and had brought you along on a few. Enough to recognize it.
“Seems like a ghost town.” Of course, as soon as that left your brother's mouth, the car pulled up to what appeared to be the center of the small town, and suddenly, there were people everywhere. Music was playing, and they were all cheering. Almost instinctively, you curled a little further down in the car. That was far too much attention for your liking. An odd sense naggled at your brain, but it was something that you ignored, attributing it to the fact that you were now all the center of attention.
“So much for a ghost town,” you mumbled, though the guys were too dumbfounded to really be paying attention. Still, manners dictated that you didn't entirely hide, trying to offer a polite smile.
“Welcome to Pleasant Valley!” The man that stepped forward had an air of authority to him. He paused as if waiting for a reaction from the four of you, and when he got none, he leaned forward with a small laugh. Everyone in the mass who had surrounded was cheering, and it died out just as quick when there wasn't a response. The guys were entirely caught off guard, and you were suffering from a little case of the nerves. “Well, don't be a wet ding dong, fellas,” he offered as he hurried around the side of the car towards your brother.
“Buckman's the man, mayor’s my game.” He was standing beside the car now and finally seemed to notice you sitting in the back seat, and that seemingly impossible wide smile broadened further. “Now, why don't cha'all here, give us a big howdy due..hmm?” His hand was held out to Anderson, and in the blink of an eye, the older man had practically yanked your brother out of the driver seat with ease. Shaking hands, your brother remembered some manners.
“Anderson Lee, nice to meet you, sir.” Corey and Nelson were exchanging looks that could easily be deciphered as get a load of this. He managed to introduce you as his sister, but when he attempted to offer the names of the other two, Buckman interrupted.
“Lee Anderson, Lee. My, my, my. What a beautiful surname. Ya'll ain't from the south now, are ya?” You decided to jump in.
“Yes, sir. Born and raised. We were raised in South Carolina. Anderson decided to go north to school. I stayed a little closer to home, in North Carolina.”
“Then ya crossed over to the other side, I see. Well,” he hummed and glanced towards you for a second as he tipped the front of Anderson's hate. “Well, we might just save you yet.” Anderson wasn't sure how to take the comment judging by the confused look on his face. The crowd moved in a little closer as Corey and Nelson got out of the car, leaving you the only one in it. Which meant you had to get out. Slipping from the car, you held your bag close. Buckman turned his attention from Anderson back to you.
“You see, ya'll arrived just in time to be our honored guests at the Guts n’ Glory Jubilee!” The banner was hard to miss. Red, white, and blue, it hung just over the crowd that had gathered behind Buckman. The cheering started all over again, and you couldn't help but smile. Was it a little off? Maybe. You could have arrived in a backwoods town, one of those off grid sort of deals. Or these reenactors were seriously into their business. Either way, there was a light atmosphere. That nagging worry remained in the back of your brain, ignored still.
Corey was murmuring to Nelson, causing you to reach out and smack at his arm.
“Don't be rude.” They rolled their eyes, but their attention was diverted when a scantily clad woman walked up to the mayor. You blinked for a second as the woman instantly flirted with the two beside you. Buckman had shifted over you subtly in that time, inching closer as the boys had their full attention on Miss Peaches.
In a whirl of activity, more individuals showed up, including the car that you had met up with at the last gas station. While your timetable was tight, you didn't want to be disrespectful or rude. At least that was your reasoning for staying while the boys were only thinking with their lower brain.
It wouldn't be so bad, right? The air was crisp and clean. The heat hadn't fully set in just yet, leaving you comfortable in the quiet outdoor setting. There was a rush towards the hotel because apparently rooms were waiting. Another oddity. You had slipped towards the back of the pack and opted to enjoy a little peace, finally away from the boys. Besides, this seemed like a lovely spot to settle in and maybe do a little sketching.
“Well, darling, just what are you doing out here?” You had found a spot under one of the trees closer to the edge of town. Settled down, you had lost track of the time that had passed. It must have been at least a couple of hours, judging from where the sun was overhead. Buckman was standing just a few feet from you, hands in his pockets and observing.
“Oh, I'm sorry, sir.” Smiling, you hoped that he wouldn't have seen the act of you seeking some solitude as an affront to the hospitality that had been offered. “Been with my brother and his friends for a day and a half. Wanted a little peace, and it's just so nice out. Well, I wanted to take advantage. I didn't mean any disrespect to you or Mrs. Boone by it.” There wasn't a hint of anger as he strolled closer.
“Ain't nothing to be worried about. Just wanted to make sure everything was alright. Everything is alright, isn't it?” You relaxed further against the tree after having gone a little rigid when he first found you.
“Absolutely.” You wanted to ask what the deal with the setup was, but figured if it was one of those off the grid communities, you risked offending him. So, with all those southern manners you were raised with, you offered compliments instead. “You seem to have a little piece of paradise here. The town, the land. Seems like it really lives up to its name.” Buckman stood just a little straighter at that, hands coming from his pockets.
“What a sweet talker you are.” You laughed. “We pride ourselves on our little town. It's very kind of you to notice all the work that we put in.”
“Give credit where it's due.” It had made a great subject for your artwork.
“Well, I hate to interrupt a lady at peace, but dinner is going to be ready soon, and Granny Boone is expecting all our guests.” That was the moment that you realized that you hadn't eaten since yesterday. Quickly, you tucked away your pencils and closed your sketchbook. A brush of your pants had you free of any debris that remained on the ground.
“Dinner sounds wonderful.” You were surprised when the man offered his arm out to you. Deciding there wasn't any harm to it, the offer was taken. The walk back to the hotel was pleasant. The man asked questions every so often, centered around you. There was a certain charm about him that you found endearing and oddly attractive. Maybe it was because it was harmless. You wouldn't be here long, and surely nothing could come of it.
“Sounds like a noble cause, helping those that have served their time.”
“I don't know if I would call it noble. It's…just the right thing to do.” Buckman hummed for a moment before opening the door to the hotel for you. “Thank you.”
“It's not something most these days seem interested in, is all. Focus seems to be elsewhere for most.” That was something that couldn't be argued, and you conceded the point. “Why don't you go on and sit down, now. Dinner's almost ready.”
“Anything I can help with?” Just as you asked, an older woman appeared, all smiles just like Buckman had been.
“I won't turn down a helping hand, even if it is a guest. You mind setting the plates out, dear?”
“Not at all.” You took what she had in her arms and she motioned to send you away towards the table, only catching the briefest hint of low tones as if the two had waited for you to step away to talk. It was either your imagination or truly a private conversation. Shaking your head, as if the negative feeling could be physically removed, you worked on placing out the plates and silverware that the woman, who you assumed was Granny Boone, had placed in your arms.
Dinner was a fairly quiet affair. While Granny Boone was kind and funny, she most certainly took no shit and reminded you a bit of your mother. The cooking had been fantastic, and you had made sure to mention such.
Now, the boys were having dessert, Granny was playing the piano, there was an arm wrestling contest going on, and you were content to sit curled in a corner, working in your sketchbook once more. Instead of the town, you had decided to focus on the people in the room this time. Granny, in particular, since she seemed to be genuinely enjoying what she was doing.
Slowly, bodies leaked out of the room, though one slipped in after being absent. Buckman. He sat nearly atop the piano, sipping from a jug and just observing. While the music continued, the other noise quieted down slowly. Until you heard footsteps approaching. Nelson, of all people. The hoped that he wouldn't bother you if he wasn't acknowledged was squashed instantly. A little liquid courage was apparently the only thing needed for him to change his opinion of you being an uptight bitch.
As soon as the arm was around your shoulders, you shrugged it off and stood up. The two at the piano watched cautiously. You could see them trying not to gawk, and it just caused a rush of embarrassment to hit you.
“You can keep your hands to yourself. How many times does it take for you to realize that I'm not interested nor will ever be. Just because your friends with my brother doesn't mean I have to put up with your shit, Nelson. And, as far as I remember, your last opinion of me was that I was an uptight bitch. So, even if you were the last option on the face of this planet, it wouldn't happen.” Before he could attempt any retort, you walked from the room. The urge to run had been resisted by the skin of your teeth.
Stepping out into the cool night air was a relief. There wasn't enough light out here for you to finish your sketch, but that didn't matter since it meant that you were alone. Sitting down on the steps that led up to the hotel, a heavy sigh threatened to cave in your chest, and you buried your face in your hands for a moment. Breathe, just breathe. The mantra repeated over and over. God, did you hate confrontation like that. And to do so in front of practical strangers?
A soft weight rested against your shoulders, startling you.
“Easy,” Buckman nearly whispered. A blanket, he had wrapped a blanket around you. “Didn't mean to frighten you. Just thought ya might want something to keep the chill off ya.” He was being polite and not bringing up what had just happened.
“Thank you…” Another sigh and the wood creaked under his weight before he settled at your side.
“Some boys just don't learn their manners.” The comment brought a little, depreciating laugh before you could stop it.
“Understatement of the century.” A quiet chuckle was his response. “I'm sorry about that. My brother's friends have a habit of not thinking anything through.”
“Nothing you gotta apologize for, ain't any of that on you. They just need their mommas to tan their hides a bit more so they start respecting others.” You both fell silent as the small noises of the night started to echo out. Insects, birds, the rustle of trees and branches. It had always been pleasant and relaxing to listen to after the day had ended. The silence between you was comfortable, not awkward, and not one that you felt compelled to fill. He didn't either, it seemed. After a few more minutes, it was finally broken.
“I uh, see ya got that little book with ya. What were you working on in there?”
“This?” While you were always drawing, you didn't often share openly. But, there was something about the moment that pushed you towards it. A sense that he could appreciate it. “Nothing much. Just a little sketchbook.”
“Mind if I take a look?” He held out his hand but didn't move to grab the book, waiting for permission. After a second of hesitation, you wanted it over.
“The last one isn't finished yet….” The one of Granny Boone. The first few pages were random little ideas without too much detail since it was a relatively new book. The next three were from today. Two of the town and the last being what you had told him wasn't finished.
“Granny is gonna love this,” he finally spoke softly, amusing lacing the words, but they were genuine rather than mocking. “Ya felt that inspired by our little town?”
“There's certainly a draw.” You missed the giddy grin that overtook his features for a passing moment before it was schooled a little more into a more normal smile.
“I'm touched that you see such charm in our town. And lord, is there some talent here.” Well, there you go again, the heat rising to your cheeks. “Not too many see the town like this.” There was an odd note to his voice, then that caused you to look up. You couldn't place the emotion then. Longing? Desperation? Nostalgia? Either way, it settled there, making the usually peppy and excited mayor seem melancholy until the smile returned, brushed off as if it had been nothing more than a fly on his shoulder.
“Hard to see why. Nice southern hospitality, peaceful, little off the beaten path to make it feel separate from the rest of the world.”
“Glad you think so, darling.” You glanced back out towards the town once more before your world went black.

Python (2000) is a completely serviceable shitty monster movie featuring such hits as William Zabka having a bro-fight in a playground, Wil Wheaton looking like the most 2000s fuck boy ever, Casper Van Dien doing what I assume is supposed to be a Foghorn Leghorn accent, and Robert Englund being perfect.
The opening Sexy Murder Victim couple is this soft butch lesbian and her bisexual girlfriend, so I went in with some exhaustion because I don't expect gay in this subgenre so I don't need to see them get killed off.
But it's weird because they were... actually kind of endearing? Like you get some light early relationship drama between this established lesbian and the bi girl who seems to be fairly new to dating women. I was rooting for them!
And then after they die they throw a couple jokes like "Oh of course I know who she is everybody *knew* her" because do you get it she was a slut she fucked all the guys so now she's gonna fuck all the women haha so funny.
But the funny thing is because they've established the dead bisexual as someone who all the men of the town know, they also establish that all of the men can identify her pet snake as belonging to her *on sight*
And hey, a stupid monster movie from 2000 canonizing the bisexual snake owner? Not too shabby.
