heeseung
when you'd busy catching deadlines for work, heeseung would walk into the room.
"what're you doing?" he'd stand behind your chair and lean down, throwing his arms around your neck loosely and resting his chin on your shoulder to look at your laptop screen
"just some work," you'd reply with a yawn. you feel him nod, and suddenly he says, "well, i love you then," and stands back up, waiting for a reaction
"why such a sudden 'i love you'?" you ask, confused
"just in case you forgot that i do," heeseung simply states and leaves the room, leaving you utterly shocked.
jongseong
while you're in the kitchen cooking, jay would come from behind and give you a sudden hug
would whisper "i love you" in your ear and plant a kiss on the back of your neck
he'd unwrap his arms from around you right after that and walk away with a smile on his face
"what was that for??" you'd be confused that he did that just out of the blue
"just a reminder!" there would be a lilt in his voice as it sounded from hallway, an indication of a shit-eating grin on his face.
jaeyun
laying in bed with jake, you'd be drifting off to sleep due to the long day you'd had and jake would suddenly roll over and pull you towards him with his arms
"let me sleep, jake," you groaned as you rolled over again, out of his grasp and leaving him pouting in the darkness
"but i love you, y/n," jake whined with the pout, attempting to pull you into his embrace again
"you can love me tomorrow," you mumble, half-asleep once more
"but i'll love you forever and ever, not just tomorrow!" - "i love sleep more right now, jake" - "no! you can't! you're supposed to love me only!!"
sunghoon
waiting for sunghoon to come back home, you'd be just hanging around until you heard the front door open
and it did, but sunghoon suddenly called "i love you, y/n, and i'm home!" instead of his usual and simple "i'm home"
as he walked into the living room you'd just be bewildered at the sudden comment with no warning at all
"what?" you looked at him with pure confusion as he walked past the living room with the biggest smirk on his face.
"in case you forgot to when i wasn't here, baby," he says before walking away, the smirk still resting there on his lips, as big as ever.

due 11:59 pm
— alternatively, enhypen hyungs as your typical high school crush!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIR. high school! enhypen hyungs x gn!reader (rest under cut) GENRE. fluff, high school au, bullet points WORD COUNT. 1.8k total MAKNAE LINE VER.
이희승 — lee heeseung
varsity jackets, notes in lockers, late night calls, secret pining, basketball games
secretly (not so secretly) an attention seeker
he's on the varsity basketball team, so by law you're hyping him up (disguised as hyping up the whole team) before the game and now he has to win!!! (plus he made a bet with jay about the team's winning streak)
i'd think that you two are closer than acquaintances but don't know each other well enough to be close friends
you guys probably met through mutual friends groups that kind of merged????
it was junior year when he signed up for every ap class you took just to look at your face more often.
horrible move for his gpa, amazing move for his mental well-being
... that was, until his mental well-being was compromised again because his ap calc grades were... not sexy
"help like actually i don't think my coach will let me stay on the team if i fail another quiz like that 0.05% grade decrease might be the end of my career"
you start tutoring him not because you're super confident about your calc skills, but because 1) you're better than him at least 😂and 2) it's a free excuse to hang out with him after school
you guys have your first tutoring sessions over discord vc btw like LOSERS
"can you hear me okay"
"..."
"dude you're muted"
IT WAS BAD
he's got the popular guy on the outside, an absolute loser on the inside persona
like he's lowkey a romantically awkward dude
but once he got to know you a bit more from your 1 on 1 time (still on discord.) you guys got really close!
would talk shit together right before basketball matches too
"[name] make sure to start booing when the other team shows up because unfortunately i think they're actually really good"
you're really passionate about how the other schools have horrible players (regardless of stats) and love to narrate a play-by-play with heeseung after the match is over
he finally confessed to you after a whole business year (jake and riki were about to dox their private dms by then)
you guys are like those stereotypical high school movie it couples, where it seems like two gorgeous popular people fell in love
they don't need to know he's just a hopeless romantic!!
박종성 — park jongseong
blue ink, keyboard clicks, shared laughs, handwritten notes, guitar strings
you thought he was pretty intimidating at first ngl
first day of school and he has a whole pre-established friend group, somehow found a table to sit at, has an effortless air going for him
you were paired up with him for a group project in history and
god help this man is SO straightforward and to the point
"ok so i'll do this part and you can do those parts. let me know if you have questions."
insert working in SILENCE for the next hour and a half
at least you two got your work done though!
but then, as an icebreaker in the last ten minutes of class you asked:
"oh... so, uh, do you ever wonder how liquid soap was invented?"
girl wtf!
your internal thought processing was like ??? damn who said that??? before you realized it was YOU
fortunately for you, jay was not completely weirded out!
he even looked a bit interested!
VERY interested, actually!
and that's how he began google searching like crazy, pulling up a million wikipedia articles and scouring the internet to answer your question
because how did you know he was curious about that too!
he really went from 0 to 100 and wdym you thought this man was cold and stoic
he became a d1 yapper for a solid ten minutes, up until the second the bell rang
he was even subconsciously walking with you to your lunch spot, STILL talking about william sheppard and that day in 1865
when he stops and finally realizes where he is, he actually blinks a bit before asking if you had joined any lunchtime clubs
and you were like oh yeah!! i'm in guitar club
he looked at you with the biggest heart eyes at that tbh
HE WAS IN LOVE
wdym your interests were perfectly aligned???? was he in a soulmates au
fast forward three months, and he seriously thinks he's found The One
confesses to you after playing guitar!! and he wrote a handwritten letter too with a cheeky reference to that one liquid soap conversation that started it all
you never feel like you're being "too weird" when you're with him and you two can always be your candid goofy selves with each other :))
심재윤 — sim jaeyun
muji pens, fond eye rolls, sharing books, lunch dates, lattes, TI-84s
you already saw this one coming
physics lover jake, but you've deemed physics your number one opp
HOW can this man go "i love this subject so much omg" after you've just gotten your third 72% in a row?!
it's not like you weren't smart (the class average was a 55)
and it's not like you hated the subject itself
okay maybe you did
but you just thought there were so many other alternatives other than physics to fawn over as a favorite subject. like. ANY other subject
one day, you're seated next to jake in calc and he just turns to you and starts talking out of NOWHERE
he’s like wow isn’t this so interesting? calc is like a hobby of mine!!
and you’re like boy stfu??? i’m literally struggling how is this your pastime
poor guy just wanted to make small talk and impress you with stuff he thought you were interested in… which is academics
fast forward to that afternoon in history though, and tests are passed back
you're a certified humanities girl, so you got an 100!!! academic weapon
jake, however..... is kind of an academic shield in this case
on the midterm, he had written that the victorian era ended in 1592, and filled in everything else he didn't know with "mansa musa" because it was the only thing he retained from ap world
maybe you genuinely felt really bad for hating on him when he had struggles of his own, or maybe you felt really nice that day, or maybe you were secretly hoping to get to know him more....
either way, you don't know what came over you when you tapped on his shoulder
you missed how his eyes widened a bit when he turned around, and how he looked genuinely shocked that you were talking to him in an initiated conversation! maybe his rizz was working! (maybe it was)
"there's a method that i use to memorize terms that i could teach you, if you want"
IF HE WANTS??? he would've literally jumped with joy if the paper in front of him wasn't such a nuclear bomb to his gradebook
so that's how you suddenly started spending all your lunches sitting with jake at an empty table together
he tutors you back for physics and math too, so it's fair
and DAMN it works
suddenly you two are all-rounder academic weapons???? he has your back for STEM, you have his back for humanities
like that's literally a power couple right there.
only one problem.
you aren't a couple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you confess to him after one of your study sessions, by plotting a heart on the desmos graphing calculator using the equations that he taught you
it was super cute!!
he was literally the proudest and happiest man alive he teared up a bit (he would never admit it though)
and NOW you guys are the campus power couple
“babe look at this!” and he's waving at you with his 100 on the history final
he actually started jumping and hugging you (embarrassingly) when you found out you got a 94% average in physics at the end of the semester, giving you an A in the class
you were so shocked when you opened your report card that you didn't even register it until you heard jake go "YOOO OH MY GOD BABE THAT'S INSANE I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT YESSS I'M SO PROUD OF YOU"
well maybe thanks to jake the subject isn't so bad now!
박성훈 — park sunghoon
big school, comfortable silence, convenience stores, headphones, lingering gazes
the "everything kinda sucks here, except you" type of plot
sunghoon tries to stay out of the spotlight, keeping to himself with his head down, hood up, and headphones on
you're not really sure when you met him first actually, but you're both the same type of people where you're just going through the motions
you intrigued him though-- maybe it was the slightly melancholic look in your eyes? or maybe it was the way you purse your lips when you find a particularly hard question on the worksheets in class
either way, he finds himself wanting to get to know you more
funnily enough, he sees you at the convenience store after school as he walks home, and his feet start walking him in your direction
you see him first, and give him a smile and a little wave-- and sunghoon waves back without even thinking about it
that was the entire interaction that day, but sunghoon keeps replaying that part when you smiled and waved at him
why can't he stop thinking about it?
some things definitely changed too-- you start saying hi to him in the hallways at school, you turn to sunghoon to ask questions in class, and you seem to brighten up whenever you see him
you guys start to have conversations, starting with simple small talk, then moving to longer, more random dialogue where you both just say whatever comes to mind
the two of you become so close that you decide to walk to and from school together, since you found out that you only live a couple blocks away
sunghoon likes to place his headphones over your ears to show you new songs every morning, and you like to share earbuds in the afternoon to walk home together
he also starts to slip little notes about his day in your backpack before you go your separate ways in the neighborhood, signing off with a little p.s. to meet him at the park before sunset
it takes him SO long to muster up the courage to confess to you because he keeps thinking you'd say no
but when he finally does, all his fears melt away because you looked at him in such a soft way
he's actually reminded of why he fell for you in the first place
because with you, there’s no judgment from the outside world in the little bubble that you’ve created with him
it's just the two of you against the world <3

The air is a sweet smelling summer type, the day you first meet Nishimura Riki. He's a scrawny little thing of twig arms and downcast, shy eyes. Having moved to Korea from Japan only barely a month back, the number of words he can say in this newfound land in the foreign language can be counted on one hand. And this poses a problem to him right now, considering how his older sister had already gone off on her own despite their mother's strict orders to stay together at all times. You spot the boy, a sprightly little thing yourself, and the first thing you notice is his eyes. The most gorgeous, mesmerizing eyes. They looked like the black beetles you saw in the spring - lazing on the dark brown tree trunks, absolutely fascinating and captivating.
Nishimura Riki is six years old and scared. He's at a playground with kids his age, but he feels like an alien in his own skin. They're all either playing in groups or duos - but no dice for singles. It's times like this that makes him want to clutch on to the fabric of his mother's dress and be whisked away to safety. A place where he doesn't feel so out of place. His soft, trembling body stills in a bit of surprise as a gentle tap knocks on his shoulder, ever so slightly. Turning around fearful of being picked on, he only comes face to face with a girl. You're looking straight at him with owlish, unblinking eyes that make Riki shiver in your gaze - feeling smaller and smaller than before. He doesn't like how you're looking at him, not in the slightest. "Hi there! I'm Y/N L/N. Are you new here?" You're quite articulate for a kid, he thinks, as if he's not one himself. He's barely managed to string together the meaning of what you said through his broken understanding of the language, but it's the general environment about you that makes him hesitate. His lack of a response doesn't deter you apparently, as suddenly you're latching on to his wrist, trying to pull him to the sand pit, babbling on and on about being his new friend and offering to show him around town. He doesn't know how to get out of your vice-like grip, but he doesn't mind your company either. But it's just all too much. There's too many things going on around him, and you're too loud.
Suddenly, he's wrenching his hand out of yours, a scowl on his youthful features. It's a frown directed right at you like a bullet, but it leaves you unscathed. You still look at him with a complete look of innocence, completely boring into his own eyes. There's something about the way you look at him, and he hates it. He notices the way you hold no precise expression on your face, only a peaceful and serene look coupled with the way one would gaze when they felt curious and fascinated. He decides at that moment, with all the iron resolve of a six year old boy, that he hated this girl. He hated you and he wanted absolutely nothing to do with you.
But this was in no way similar to the way you were feeling currently. With the way that inky void in his eyes were pulling you in like a siren song, you decided that you loved Nishimura Riki.
11 years later
"Riki! Riki!". Your chants are loud even amongst the bustling crowd of attendees, all mingling about on the bleachers, eyes trained on the orange basketball as the squeaking sound of shoes against the polished wooden floor accentuated the tension of this cut-throat game. Jersey number 9, tallest on the team and jet black hair that had everyone reeling in his subtle aura, Riki's eyes are piercing as his focus solely stays on two things - the first being how to get past the rival team's defense, and the second being how annoying your cheering was to him.
Their opposing team is not letting them cut through this bottle neck tie easily, and the red timer with its robotic, digital numbers clocking down to the game's end was not really helping either. It was right now, or never. And Riki never let a game get to the tie-breaker, ever. He's quick and sharp witted, and he's got the athletic skill to get past the crowding defense team, and with a crisp swish of the white net hanging on the post, the ball is swiftly sent through the basket. The whistle is loud, but the rest of his teammates are louder, wasting no time in running on the court to aggressively smother their prodigal player in affection and sweat, with Riki glaring away at them in faux irritation, but clearly preening in their pride. This was an important game after all, because it would be the game that would help team captain, Lee Heesung, who was graduating this spring, to choose the next in line to his legacy. And anyone with two eyes, who wasn't even on the team could easily say it belonged to Riki.
Your voice is back, louder again this time, and it has Riki grimacing amongst the celebrations, and Sunoo and Taki, his friends who had descended from the stands themselves, gave each other a knowing look of what was about to occur.
You're singing praises and it has him glowing, regardless of the frown marrying his sharp features. "God, that was so cool! You're so, so tall, it must have been an advantage for sure, but wow I mean that basket? Crazy!"
He's still glaring at you and his teammates have wry smiles on their faces. Your praises quieten down when you, and Riki, notice Lee Heesung walking over to Riki with a championing grin that only means one thing. Ushering Riki away, you just gazed at him at raw adoration as the boy's face lit up with the news Heesung was breaking him.
"By the way dude, are you dating that girl there? Y/N L/N?"
The question has him coughing slightly from the water he was chugging down. Sunoo and Taki are cackling violently at his expression, like Heesung had performed the most blasphemous act in front of him. "Heesung, what the hell dude. I'm not dating her, at all. I'll only date Y/N when pigs start flying."
He looks back to where you stood before, now gone from that spot. You always waited a bit before you left, usually, trying to catch him and make conversation with him, so this was new. A different kind of feeling he wasn't sure he was used to. It was strange, how he felt a bit different from the absence of you.
"Look, oh my god!" Taki cries out, pointing vaguely at the air. "What?" "I just saw a pig fly." “Shut the fuck up man.”
You were a curse sent from hell to torment him, that much was sure. He wasn’t sure what penance he was due to pay in this life for his previous actions that caused you to appear in his life, considering how since that moment on the playground, you’ve done nothing to actually make his life any better. And while he was explaining this very situation to Heesung, who was now sporting an amused grin at the way the normally nonchalant Riki’s mouth seemed to fly a mile a minute, Sunoo interrupted with a gasp at a particularly harsh tease. “She isn’t even doing anything bad you prick! I’d kill to have someone crush on me that long!”
“Oh you can have her then, Sun. I do not want to see her in my life ever again once we’re out of here.” He huffs.
The various examples of the ways you’d managed to make things bad for him seemed to resurface to his mind almost immediately, souring his mood. Like when in middle school, when he bagged the hottest girl of their grade, Choi Ri-ah, to go out with him. It was magical to Riki, that eighth grade relationship - mainly because him being in it meant having you off his back. Your displeasure with his newfound relationship status was not a secret either, no your distaste was very clear, with the way you’d frown when they would walk in the hallways together holding hands, which in eighth grade, was a very big deal. It didn’t help that Ri-ah was also your quote unquote, sworn enemy. The two of you had hated each other's guts since almost preschool, and the sickening punch in the stomach was how she’d managed to be with the only guy you’d ever loved. But Riki didn’t know any of that. And frankly, he didn’t care much about his and Ri-ah’s conversations or dates, where he would nod along as she talked his ears off about getting new earrings or the summer holiday her father was planning, where she was going to get the most outrageous tan. Sure, he liked her. But he liked not hearing your voice constantly bugging him more.
“Dude she didn’t end your relationship with Ri-ah! Ri-ah was already going after another guy from that prep school, she just needed an excuse to end the relationship and made Y/N the scapegoat.” Taki told him exasperatedly, which just fell on deaf ears, because Riki was still convinced that you were the reason for the demise of his juvenile dating plan. Ri-ah had broken up with him seemingly out of the blue, over text, claiming that she felt uncomfortable dating a boy who was so coveted by another girl. And when fourteen year old Riki read that heartbreaking message curled up in his duvet at 10PM on a Tuesday, he just felt a bitter pill of hatred for you. Nothing had changed in the six years since that fateful meeting at the playground, no. You still made Riki shudder.
“I hate Y/N L/N. I wish she just left my life, because she’s what makes it worse.”
“He’s absolutely phenomenal.” You breathe out in a sigh, full of awe as you watch Riki skirt across the court with lightning speed. The dreamy looks and the lovestruck sounds was like routine to Eunchae, who had honestly even given up on rolling her eyes at you, because with the way she’d spent the last 10 years doing the same, she was afraid her eyes would get stuck at the back of the skull due to routine. It was truly a wonder how you hadn’t given up immediately after the first few tries - when he was extremely stubborn in denouncing the “Y/N’s boyfriend” title he’d earned. But you had your justification ready to go - that he never outright rejected you. Sure, he politely declined some invitations, but never a word against your feelings as such. It still raised the question, as to how you could chase a guy around this long. Because to you, the reason was quite fundamental - his eyes were still beautiful, and most importantly, they held no hate. Not an ounce of it, no matter how hard he tried to emulate it, which gave you hope.
Unfortunately hope was a wonderful thing for sure, but also dangerous. It was quite the cycle you’d found yourself stuck in, and you weren’t honestly sure how long you could afford to linger as nothing but a mandatory footnote to him. It was eating away at you. But hope, hope made you hold on.
Only Eunchae knew about the firm decision you’d taken last night. After all, she was your closest friend. And she even held you, as you solemnly promised to yourself, on the eve of the 11th anniversary of the day you first met Riki, to leave him behind forever, if there wasn’t any improvement in his behavior, or general perception of you. It was shocking, and honestly a huge decision. But firm in its promise, that last hook of hope would be gone soon by tomorrow.
“You know he ignored you again, right?” Eunchae points out for the nth time, and like always that doesn’t deter you, as you gaze lovingly upon where the soon-to-be former captain Heesung was talking to Riki about leading the team, a position quite coveted which you were very proud of Riki for acquiring. The pride that swelled in your heart was immense, but the cold words you heard Riki utter were like a small pin-prick on your heart. He was tense from the game, and let’s be honest, you’d always managed to survive the weight of his brash words. But why did this one hurt so much? Were you reaching your breaking point, finally? No wonder you’d tipped and already decided to get over him last night.
Snapping yourself out of these negative emotions, you decided to busy yourself a bit away from the bleachers and Heesung and Riki, focusing on Eunchae as she tried to decide where to grab a snack before you both went off to your own houses.
“I hate Y/N L/N. I wish she just left my life, because she’s what makes it worse.”
The sound of his voice has always been melodious to you. It had a deep timbre and was almost soothing. But right now, you felt anything far from soothed. Your throat was closing up into a lump, and you huffed slightly as you blinked away tears. Eunchae’s eyes were blown wide in shock, and were slowly beginning to narrow in anger. Your movements were almost automatic as your hand reached out to stop Eunchae from storming out from your hiding spots’, the fuming girl looking like she was ready to punch Nishimura across the face immediately. The tears were burning into your lower lash line like furious embarrassment, making you more and more smaller, wishing now more than ever that the ground swallowed you whole. You kept telling yourself over and over again, that this wasn’t the first time you’d heard words of this type uttered against you by him. But it was like a disenchanting spell on you, the way a veil lifted off your eyes. A crack in the rose tinted looking-glass you always stared at him through.
“Y/N”, Eunchae’s voice is a careful whisper, sensing your vulnerability as your best friend. She knew you long enough to tell that those extremely cruel, mean words did more than just a regular rebound on your thick skin. She was cooling down in an attempt to comfort you, rubbing your arm in support. Your lower lip was wobbling, and you felt like someone had slapped you hard across the cheek. You weren’t that annoying to put up with, were you?
Your heart felt stomped on at that point, and you wanted nothing more than to get away. As shocking as it was, you couldn’t stomach being around Riki right now, and hastily grabbing Eunchae and making a beeline towards the exit, your downtrodden expression morphed to anger as your shoulder harshly bumped against Riki’s, who’s expression you couldn’t tell with the way you could only see red. Your decision was ironclad now, if it wasn’t firm already. This was the moment you’d decided to get over Nishimura Riki.
The touch of your shoulder against his was like a static current being passed through his skin, in the most pleasant way possible. Like he craved it. Riki was baffled, and even more so when he realized it was you, and your usually ever-present adoration from him being blatantly missing, even in this short interaction, if it even be called that. He felt a twinge of concern for you, which he suppressed easily. This was the Y/N he was talking about. Any emotion for you rather than disgust? No thank you!
However, it was strange. For the first time in your life, you felt almost nothing for Nishimura Riki. And for the first time in his life, he felt something for you.
It’s been a week since the fateful basketball game. You’ve been through the stages of grief quite quickly, storming through each of them with Eunchae helping you along, although your headstrong need to get better did worry her, that you weren’t actually processing your pain to heal. But to hell with all that. No, you wanted to eviscerate any remaining thought of Riki from your head immediately. The school day seems to be quite regular, with spring break just a mere two weeks away, that had people buzzing with low energy in the hallways, all in the state of deciding their spring break plans. Your spring break plans weren’t anything fancy, or anything at all rather - with the main idea being that you’d while away the time with your best friend, doing all the fun activities you could possibly do. And a break that you were sure would be the final nail in the coffin that contained the corpse of your feelings for Riki, the dark haired boy who up till now kept an iron grip on your heart.
The boy in question, like you, had also spent the previous week raging through some emotions. But in his case, rather he found them very confusing and very out of character. Of course, he wasn’t self actualised enough to work through them, and that led him to create a stubborn mindspace - that you, Y/N L/N were messing with his head by purposely ignoring him. He just couldn’t stop thinking about you, your presence and the recent lack of. Your voice wasn’t greeting him in the homeroom every morning anymore, and it was a change many had noticed, but not yet commented on. He found this pit in his stomach from the first week, the immediate day after the match, when he saw you sitting in class - head bent, hair falling over your face messily. And for a fleeting second, his hand had to fight off the urge to get up and brush them away. Your eyes looked slightly swollen, with a faint bloodshot look, like you’d spent the night crying rather than sleeping. It made his chest ache and his head spin slightly. What the hell? When the hell did he feel sorry for Y/N L/N? When the hell did he feel anything for Y/N L/N?
That was about three days ago, and that same pit in his stomach has been growing ever since. He, for whatever reason, missed you. Instead of coming face to face with this fact, he turned his back on it, and it was killing him. Pinpricks of pain would shoot through him whenever he noticed you deliberately changing your path on noticing him walk towards your way. God, it’s like he was a hostage to your feelings all these years, and automatically he felt guilty of thinking about you that way. You just liked him right? Why was he even so rude to you?
His behavior, and his demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by all of his friends, even the basketball team, who were more than aware of your absence at practice anymore. Whatever you were doing to remove Riki from your life might be working in your favor, but it was ruining him.
His brain felt like someone was swirling its contents around with a spatula, making a mess of his thoughts and his emotions. He hadn’t wasted a moment in spilling his dilemma to Sunoo, and invariably the guys he was closest to on the basketball team - Jake, Sunghoon, Jay and Heesung. The team itself were all in all pretty much aware of how the youngest was going through quite the mind-boggling series of epiphanies (if it could even be called that. Jay liked to refer to it as just a dumbass waking up from his stupidity sleep).
“Dude, I just don’t know anymore. Her not being there is very odd to me? I just can’t get used to it.” Riki sighs, shaking his head as he thumbs around his packet of Cheetos, slumping against the cafeteria wall, while the rest of his group gathered around him like a pack, eagerly listening in. “But isn’t that what you wanted? So there must be something else then? Maybe you didn’t mind her as much as you let on?” Jake inquired, his head tilting like a confused puppy. That had Riki scratching his head again. He saw you this morning by your locker. You were catching up with Eunchae, both of you laughing boldly to whatever Eunchae had just said, and there was a glow on your face as your eyes crinkled in amusement, which made a heartbeat skip in his chest. He was staring longingly at you, and it seemed like you noticed, because your eyes met his in scrutiny - your single glance making him feel like that six year old at the playground again.
When you were in freshman year, you had developed a fascination with reading horror novels and mangas and watching horror movies very frequently. Something about spirits and the occult had interested you very much, and many people around you knew about this hobby of yours. If anyone had any doubts about the intricacies of rituals and possessions, spells and witchcraft, they’d just go to you. Right now, Riki thinks that’s exactly what’s happening to him - you’d used your occult knowledge to put a spell on him. Of course, he knew how ridiculous he sounded. But he felt like he was bound to you, and couldn’t shake off your spell no matter how much he tried. And it was purely on him. This was just all so,so confusing, which he decided not to voice out to his friends until he himself had gotten a grip on what was happening to him. How he kept thinking about your little habits. Day before yesterday, he found himself soaked in sweat and thirsty beyond comparison after practice. Parched and defeated, he stumbled along to the locker room to find his flavored water that one of his teammates usually kept in his locker for him, only to come up empty handed.
“Jake, have you seen my flavored water? I figured you usually put one in my locker.” He asked nonchalantly, only to find Jake, and the rest of the team that entered the room in a state of sly smiles, stifled giggles and shock.
“Dude, we never did any of that. Y/N did that, she’d purchase the fancy water for you and put it in your locker before we came for practice.”
It made him feel different. He was blinking slow, and his brain was sluggish. You did that for him? God, you were so sweet, weren’t you. He already felt a bit sad about not seeing your bright grin that you directed to him in the morning (even though he always dismissed it with ignorance), but this was the cherry on top. You had loved him to death, and now he was a dead man walking without you.
“He looked at you, you know.” Eunchae is careful in her observation, but she knows you noticed too. Your pupils seem narrowed, and your lips are drawn in a tight line as you contemplate that look he gave you. You still couldn’t fight off the feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you met his eyes - those gorgeous, beetle-black eyes that had a magnetic pull to them. But within the haze of your flusteredness, you’d managed to catch the slight look of misery in them. He was looking at you like he was an injured puppy, lost without you. But your resolve was stronger. With the utmost focus, you managed to drive away the maddening thoughts of the possibility of him missing you away, and walked away with Eunchae.
Over the weekend, Riki had realized that being away from you was driving him insane. So on Monday, he was pulling his chair close to yours in the classroom, the metallic screech against the wooden flooring making everyone turn their heads to the scene, their eyes widening in shock at what was unfolding in front of their eyes. How on Earth was Nishimura Riki sitting next to Y/N L/N? Your thoughts were also very similar to the rest of your classmates, because what was happening right now? Riki, the boy you’d put your heart dangerously on the line for was right here, sitting next to you. His movements were awkward and he was fiddling with his fingers while casting shy glances towards you, reminding you of the scared six year old version of him you’d met at the playground. There is a faint red crawling up his pale ears, and he clears his throat roughly, before saying “Is it alright if I sit here?”
Your all consuming feelings seemed to come back like a crashing wave on the shore the moment he uttered those words to you, and you just nodded wordlessly, too shocked to say anything.
You look too pretty this morning, and it’s messing with his head. Riki’s beating himself up internally, because this wouldn’t be so difficult if you weren’t so goddamn beautiful for some reason. He nods when you do, and then gets to his work. His proximity feels dizzying to you, and the scent of his cologne makes it harder for you to focus on the work in front of you. He’s biting into his lip hard, to suppress the urge to just hold your hand. The smell of your shampoo, the warmth of your thigh being barely centimeters next to you. You’re both so horribly blind and it is just painful to you both, unbeknownst to each of you.
Nishimura Riki liked you. He really, really liked you. And as he turned his head to see your face, accented by the golden sunlight and eyes sparkling like dewdrops in the early morning, he knew that even if he wanted to run, he couldn't. He was trapped under your spell, and the thought of it made him smile.
The following days are filled with such odd interactions with Riki. He always found an excuse to find you first in classrooms, or walk you to the cafeteria. You suddenly found yourself back at basketball practices again, but this time forcefully dragged to the court by Riki, and an amused Eunchae in tow. He was there to offer you snacks and drinks from the vending machine. He helped you with homework and you helped him with his. Whatever diabolical game he was playing was working wonders on you, because suddenly all you could see behind your closed eyes was his gorgeous face.
The rest of the student body isn’t blind to his newfound affection for you. It’s all they’ve been talking about the entire time. His teammates slap his back in teasing jests while he shoos them all away, all the while that smile never leaving his face.
“There’s no way!” You’re laughing hard, and yours and Riki’s shared giggles are quite audible over the soccer field. You’re both sitting on the grass just after practice, where Riki’s cooling off in the gentle breeze blowing across the grass. He’s telling you about some antics he had put up in class to get away from not turning in assignments, which involved a fake rubber rat and a very scared Calculus teacher. You’re wiping tears from your eyes from the laughter while Riki shakes his head in amusement. The breeze blows a single leaf to land right on top of your head, and it makes you giggle harder.
He shuffles a bit closer to you, arm raising up to remove the leaf from your head. His breath is warm as it fans across your warming cheeks, the narrowed distance between you both not being lost on either of you. His eyes meet yours, and you’re still a goner for them. He gulps, Adam’s apple bobbing in nervousness, yet he makes no attempt to move away. Instead, he feels a bold surge in him. His finger loops around the bow on your school uniform, tugging the ribbon and invariably, you, forward towards him, making the breath in your throat hitch, and your eyes becoming wide as saucers. His eyes dip to your cupid’s bow, and scan over your lips and how they’re parted. Riki spends not a second more pressing his lips to yours, and you’re in heaven.
The walk back to your house is full of shy touches, and the warmth of your hand in his. Riki’s lips are still tingling where yours were just moments ago. He can’t even begin to fathom how he ended up here - from loathing you to wanting to kiss you again. He was addicted to you and wanted more of you. But these things needed to be paced, and Riki wanted it done right. Bidding you goodbye in front of your house, where you left him with another giggle-pressed kiss to his cheek and a warm buzz filling his body, he was absolutely enamored by Y/N L/N.
The next day, he wakes up and it’s a good day. It’s a good day because he’s going to ask you out finally. He wanted to pinch himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, just because of the implausibility of the situation. There was a brightness surrounding the boy all throughout, a contrast to his regular attitude. Sunoo and Taki had been updated already, and he was planning to tell the team, the rest of his friends during practice, after which he would ask you on a date during your regular after-practice hangouts. Except for the life of him he couldn’t find you, at all. It was unfortunate that today was the day of the announcement of the student council election results, for which classes were mostly halted, since the student council was quite a big deal
He’s scanning around to find you amongst the crowd of the assembly where the results were to be announced - only to spot you a bit later. Also, he notices that you’re not alone. You’re grinning (a bit too much for his liking, if he's being honest) at Yang Jungwon, the boy who was the sure-shot winner of the President position. You’re too close to him, and it makes his heart clench. He’s biting his tongue until it almost bleeds. He doesn’t get an opportunity to speak to you, as the event commences. He just decides to wait till later, ignoring the pain in his chest he got from seeing you with another guy.
“The President of this year’s student council is Yang Jungwon.” There’s a smattering of loud applause, and even Riki joins in half-heartedly, still wounded over what he was previously. “The position of Vice President goes to his running mate, Y/N L/N!”.
He’s still in his place, though his heart bursts with pride and joy for you, his eyes drinking in your excited run up to the stage, shaking hands with the Principal of the school. Your face is broken into the biggest smile ever, and your eyes are shining from pure happiness. Why didn’t you tell him? Why didn’t he know you were going for it? Or that Jungwon was your running mate?”
But all in all he’s very, very happy and proud of you, so he squishes down that ugly feeling of jealousy in him, and focuses on how you somehow look directly right at him. Your smile drops a little when you notice he isn’t clapping, a fact Riki himself didn’t realize, too busy staring in awe at you. It takes Eunchae’s loud hollering in the crowd to break you out of your stupor and your return to your regular state.
He’s changing out of his practice clothes, feeling a bit down from the events that actually happened today and how he’d expected it to go. He hadn’t been able to catch a moment alone with you after the ceremony, and four of the older members of the team were missing from practice today too, since Jay was the treasurer of the previous session, he had to oversee the handing over of the duties to the newer batch. Practice, because of that, ended up being him, and the benchwarmers and people he didn’t really know all that well. It was something he had to get used to as the new captain, so he figured this would serve as a good preview. He was talking to another benchwarmer of his grade, Junhee, while changing. Junhee wasn’t necessarily a good person, if Riki was honest. He always hung out with the rash crowd and got into fights because of his crass nature. He placed the small box of chocolates he’s managed to quickly buy for you from a store outside school, a sticky note with your name and a congratulation scrawled on it, down on the metallic bench as he gathered up the rest of his things. This doesn’t escape Junhee’s notice, who smirks lazily as he spots the name on the post-it.
“No way, Nishimura. She did it, huh?”
Riki already doesn’t like the way he refers to you as just someone, and it sets his skin aflame. “Hmm?” he responds half-heartedly, not at all interested in maintaining a conversation with Junhee of all people. “Well, doesn’t it make sense, Nishimura? She’s into that horror shit right? Clearly she’s made a voodoo doll of you and forced you to love her. Manifestation shit, am I right?”
Riki’s blood is boiling as he hears what Junhee is saying, but for some reason he says nothing back. It’s like he’s trapped in this vortex in his mind fueled by the insecurity he felt from seeing you with Jungwon, or how he felt out of the loop about your co-curricular adventure. Staying mum, he just grabbed the chocolate box, and turned around, only to gasp in shock to see you standing right there. Your mouth is twisted downwards in disappointment, and you’re staring at him with absolute loathing in your eyes right now. He rushed forward towards you, ready to explain, and also wanting desperately to punch the snickering Junhee behind him, who was now slinking away from the scene.
It feels like there is a knife in your back and twisting itself in your flesh all over again. There is a panic rising in your throat, suffocating you overwhelmingly. It’s jarring and mind-boggling. So before Riki gets to you, you run.
Eunchae is gathering you up in her arms as your inconsolable state renders you helpless, slumping on the floor of your bedroom, finding it harder to breathe as the sadness keeps washing over you in painful crashes, making you feel weaker and weaker as the time goes.
“Why does he hate me, Eun? He kissed me, didn’t he? So why is he so cruel?”
The six boys in Riki’s room are trying their best with damage control, as they all had rushed over to his house when Riki had texted them in a panic and explained what had gone down. “But why didn’t you defend yourself in front of Junhee in the first place man?”, Taki asks frustratedly, tugging at his hair. Riki frowns, trying to ignore the flashes in his head of your heartbroken face while his chest aches. “I kept thinking about her and Jungwon. I treated her terribly before all this, didn’t I? I just kept thinking how she might like Jungwon now.” His eyes are downcast in sadness, and his voice is broken. Pulling up a chair right in front of Riki, Heesung plops down and holds Riki up by the shoulders, squaring him up. “Riki. Go. Go right now and apologize, before you lose her even more.” Riki is crying harder now, and wiping his tears, he breaks and finally tells them. “I don’t think I want to be without her, Heesung. I want her love, no matter if it drives me to my end.”
Riki sees how Eunchae slipped out of your house to walk towards the supermarket, no doubt to get you both some consolation food. He takes this moment to approach your front door, knocking furiously in nervousness and apprehension. It’s now or never.
You open the door, assuming it’s Eunchae who left something behind before she left, so seeing Riki - messy hair, lips bitten to the extreme and bloodshot eyes standing on your front porch knocked the wind out of your lungs. Ready to slam the door on his face, his long hand stops you from doing so, pleading “Y/N please, please just listen to me. It wasn’t how it happened. I didn’t agree with Junhee at all. I like you, Y/N L/N, like it’s breathing. Being away from you makes me lose my mind, and I know I haven’t been the best to you in the past. But please, Y/N. I need you to give me a chance. I need you.”
There’s warm tears flowing down your face, and even in this state Riki thinks you’re beautiful. The porch light shines on your face and you look angelic. He hopes it showed in your mercy as well.
“Why didn’t you disagree?” you sniffle, sweater paws raising up to wipe away some of the tears on your face. The dejected tone with which you ask him makes him feel a deep tug in his heart, aching and sad. “I felt. Jealous. And angry, that Jungwon was so close to you, and that you hadn’t told me about being his running mate. And I know that doesn’t excuse my actions. I just felt, I don’t know. Out of the loop.”
“I wanted to surprise you with the vice president's news.” You mumbled, head down. Riki hesitantly moved toward you, and slowly patting your head, he said “I was surprised, baby, and so, so proud of you. I felt so proud of my girl up there.” He says hoarsely, hoping that his sincerity is as evident as much as he feels it.
The breath gets knocked out as he groans through his mouth with the impact of your crushing hug. You have your face burrow into his chest, crying softly but also laughing slightly, wetting his shirt. He doesn’t spare a moment to wrap his arms around you tightly, fearing that letting go would mean that he’d lose you again. He sniffs in the soothing and familiar scent of your shampoo and mumbles into your hair, “I don’t know what spell you’ve casted on me, Y/N L/N. But I want to be under it forever.”
The sunlight, Riki thinks, just manages to make you so beautiful that it makes Riki speechless every single time. A lot has changed since the playground and the years after that. And a lot more changed within the last year too. You and Riki are midway through your senior year now. He was sad when he had to bid farewell to the older members of the basketball team, who were practically like brothers to him now. You continued your duties as vice president, though the shared activities you had with Jungwon, still a sore spot for Riki, made him pout adorably, which you always kissed away with a laugh. Riki was the basketball captain now, which added new responsibilities to his shoulder, which he carried excellently. The evidence of which was the recent basketball game that he’d just won with the team. The pep rally, and most of the team was still loitering around the court (Junhee was out. It was one of the first things Riki did as captain, in fact). Riki had sneaked you out to that fateful soccer field where you both had first kissed, and a beautiful sense of deja vu hit him as he looked at you in wonder - how you’d managed to put up with all of him was still a mystery to the boy. But, when you looked to meet his eyes - those dazzling, black eyes that glittered under the setting sun, you both realized - you were both enchanted by each other.

You felt it before you could see it.
The pain shot up your entire body, alarming your brain before you could see what caused it. Otherwise you would have even been able to dodge the cause.
Said cause smirked at you, as much as you'd rather burn yourself than to ever admit it, he looked annoyingly handsome, despite his own condition not being better than yours.
A cool breeze passed through the late night, typically a time when everyone would be sleeping peacefully in their beds, you'd like to think you would be too but you knew that wishing a peaceful night's sleep was as good as thinking a bullet shot would not hurt.
Both are far too different from how reality was.
Your knuckles ached, torn and ripped skin bleeding out. The right side of your face hurt, being punched twice was probably the reason. Your stomach hurt too, having been thrown against the concrete floor of the terrace not an ideal place to land was probably it.
Lucky for you, the adrenaline flowing through you, made it feel as though none of the aches actually affected you. Sort of distracting you from even thinking about how much it actually hurts.
Dodging another punch, you swiftly kicked Heeseung's leg, making him lose control himself for a moment, a moment you knew to never miss and you turned around hurdling another kick at his side.
His groans of pain indicated the impact of your blows as it was now your turn to be smug with him as you smiled in satisfaction.
"Aww did that hurt you?" Crossing your arms at him, as he laid on the ground for the briefest of moments, jaw clenching and shutting his eyes to take a deep breath, irritation growing within him when he heard your taunting.
Standing up while trying not to fall down again, his back now faced you.
Clicking his tongue, you couldn't see the anger in his eyes. He had enough.
"Let's just put an end to this pathetic game. It's getting tiring and frankly I have better things to do."
He didn't want to get into what he was actually sent there to do. He knew he would have do to it, but somehow, he wanted to stall it as much as he could.
And now this was the consequence of the stalling, his own state being terrible.
Scoffing at him, you raised an eyebrow,
"As if I have time to waste on you." You spat, venom laced words at him as you scanned his back, more than you should as you took in how broad his shoulders were from the way the black suit blazer stretched across them.
Without wasting a moment, Heeseung grabbed his gun from the holster that was under his shirt. Pulling it out, he swiftly turned around, now facing you.
"Well then, you won't have any time at all it seems." He pointed it at you, raising his own battered hand, his bloody thumb clicking the revolver to load it.
Smirking more widely at his actions, while pulling out your own revolver from your holster under your now maroon shirt, you pointed it at him.
Standing in mirroring positions, guns to your heads, you stared at him directly in the eye.
“It also seems like your time is over, sad how you’d die from the bullet of your worst enemy.”
You found amusement in your statement as your grin shifted to more of a mocking one.
“Darling we’d be dying together, far too romantic don’t you think?” His low voice rang in your ears, glaring at him and you’d excuse the warmth rushing to your cheeks from the mere nickname even though he’d called you way too many over the years of your rivalry as just blood rushing to your head.
Your gaze shifted to the clock tower behind him, the golden roman numerals glinting from the city light, reading the time to have been two minutes to twelve.
Two minutes to your twenty-fifth birthday.
Snorting at the irony of it, you shook your head. You might as well count it as your deathday considering, surely you wouldn’t be spared after this. You both waited for this for too long, having spent almost three years at each other’s throats and you’d be damned if you would let him escape alive as well. One thing you were sure about was you definitely won’t be spared as well.
It was always an eye for an eye and a bullet for a bullet. A death for a death.
It would be exactly twenty five years of your existence if you died today. Not a day more not a day less, a perfect twenty five and in a sickening way you always loved perfect things and this coincidence was no different.
“It would be devastating for you to die before you even meet your poor soulmate.” He grinned at you with a malicious glint and you felt your heart slightly drop at this forgotten reality.
A soulmate you’d never meet. A soulmate whose heart would feel like it would be ripped out before even meeting you. A soulmate who would feel the same thing your mother did when your father was brutally murdered. A soulmate who might spiral into a depression which could even lead into their own death. Just like your own mother.
No. No you couldn't think of this. You couldn't step back from something you'd been trained to do a decade ago. You couldn't. Not for something you found was more of a burden from universe rather than something special like most.
"Lee, if you know me well enough. You know that I don't fucking believe in this shit." You hissed at him biting your tongue, a tendency you did when you lied.
A lie because you did believe they existed, you saw it yourself but the reason it was a burden was because it didn't automatically mean a happy ending, you experienced it, you lived through that alternate ending and saw the toll of it on someone who was supposed to be the most precious person in your life.
"Ah ah ah don't lie now Y/N. You and I both know your pathetic self believes in all of that universally bonded shit." He shifted from holding the gun to his right hand, stepping closer to you and the grip on yours tightened.
"You're saying as though yours will see you alive." You could feel the side of your head aching, a trail of blood dripping all the way to your chin. A drop landing on your new tie dye maroon shirt splattered in dark and light hints of the same.
"I'd rather die while killing you than care about that nonsense. You see, unlike you, I know I'd never have a soulmate." The taunting smirk on his face slightly dimmed because even though Lee Heeseung was true to his words, a small part of his heart was still saddened at the thought of not meeting his supposed other half when he was supposed to.
He recalled his birthday, just a few months from yours, waiting to see if it was finally the year where the universe gave him the supposed greatest gift possible, his other half but no red string of fate showed up on his pinky and he smacked the shit out of Jake when his friend tried to comfort him that maybe his soulmate had also not yet turned twenty five.
Yet. Yet he threw those thoughts out of his mind when he realized what would be the end result of tonight. The end result leading to his own…end.
The loud ticking off the clock grew louder as it neared the twelve mark, indicating a new day, indicating your day.
You deeply inhaled, smiling at your nemesis, taking in the details of his face because well it was the last time you'd ever see him…or anyone probably.
"And oh! How could I forget? It's your birthday isn't it? Here's my little present then."
The clock chimed loudly, the vibrations running through you from the closeness and you tried not to wince from the loudness.
"Happy birthday Love."
Before you could respond to him ;
You saw it before you could feel it.
A dark red thread, looping itself around the pinky of your hand and your eyes widened, no words being able to form from your gaping mouth.
Now you felt the tightening of it. The red string harshly tugged at your pinky as it stretched outwards. It wasn't the only thing that felt suffocating because your throat felt like it closed up as you breathed out heavily.
A loud shot rang in your ears back, your focus still trained on the thread extending itself until it didn't.
It stopped.
Right in front of him.
It stopped in front of Lee fucking Heeseung.
He was frozen, ironically mirroring the same position as you once again but the only difference was the trigger on his gun was pushed backwards.
His eyes followed the movement of the string, pausing and holding his breath as it began to move.
It moved and moved and moved until.
Until it wrapped itself around his wrist.
And then he moved. The gun in his hand fell to the ground as he felt the dark red string tighten on his wrist.
You screamed out in pain before you could even comprehend what happened. Only now feeling the shot to your chest. The gun in your hand slipping from your grasp to the ground.
In your own stupor you didn't even realise you'd launched a few steps backwards, an impact caused by the bullet shot, now dropping to your knees as you put your hand to your chest.
Now it was his turn to feel it before he could see it, see you.
Heeseung felt it before he saw you, grabbing his own chest, feeling as though someone ripped his heart out.
"No…no, this…this can't be happening!" He coughed out as he tried to ease the pain in his chest, tears welling up in his eyes.
You sobbed out pathetically as you tried to put pressure on your chest to stop the bleeding.
Heeseung's gaze turned towards you and before he knew it, he gave into the string pulling him towards you as he rushed to you, dropping on his knees when he reached you.
"You…could have waited for one fucking minute you-" You spat out as you shut your eyes, not being able to even sit up straight, letting yourself fall forward.
A few minutes ago, he would have rejoiced at your state but now…in the matter of one sick twisted cosmic joke, he felt like his heart was being gutted while he held you in his arms.
"I…didn't. I didn't know I just…I didn't even think it could ever be…you." He didn't know what to do as he tried to think of something to do, what he could possibly do.
It wasn't like he was any better, he could feel the pain you were feeling only yours was actually there while his was more due to your freshly fated bond.
He laid you down on his lap, pulling off his blazer, bunching it up and pressing it to your chest.
You laughed humorlessly at his words, "Well it wasn't like I was expecting my soulmate to be you."
You let the tears flow as you looked up at him, pressing your hands on his own. The sparks flowing through you like an electric shock and for a moment right there, you could see why they described holding hands with your soulmates was exactly how you felt. An electric spark.
"Maybe this was how it's meant to be. For me to die, ultimately in your arms, my best enemy and my…only soulmate." You smiled at him, your tears glistening your cheeks. The most devastating part being your smile was a genuine one from the sincerity in your eyes.
He let out the whimper he'd been holding back, his own tears mixing with the blood on his face, and oh, he looked like a messy art piece, one that was only meant for you to look at in your final moments.
"No, I…please don't. It hurts, I can't…" His words came out in broken whispers, contrasting his past self who promised he'd rather jump into a lake full of sharks than to ever beg you.
"Didn't you say it would be romantic if we died together? Well then, Romeo and Juliet be damned." You jocked around, coughing as you learnt that trying to laugh when you have a bullet in your chest wasn't the most ideal.
Heeseung glared at you as he clenched his molars in anger, cursing at himself.
He wished and oh he fucking wished he waited one minute. Maybe then, maybe then he'd be able to change his perspective on you. A perspective that was already there, buried deep in the lockers of his mind, in folders of memories he had with you, how he saw you, how he thought of you.
A perspective he longed to think of since he met you but alas reality was far too different.
"And I never said thank you for you gift did I?" You grinned widely at him,
"Don't…just no." He whispered in such a soft tone that you were probably hearing for the first time in your life.
"Thank you Heeseung." You could feel the weight of the world in your eyes, moments of your entire twenty five years flashing like a film, some the happiest and some the most tragic ones.
It proved to you a question you'd asked yourself when you were 14, whether indeed a person's entire life flashes when they die. And now you got your answer first hand, nearly a decade later.
"And oh…fuck you." You whispered out as you felt lighter than ever and then, it was all over.
Over for you. Over for him.
A soulmate who he never thought existed, taken from him cruelly before he could even see the string turn a brighter shade of red, a shade that indicated true love.
A soulmate who he himself ended.
Indeed. What a devastating reality.

your attention, please
↖ navigation: enhypen masterlist || main masterlist
pairing: bf! heeseung x gn! reader
↬ tags: school! au (leaning towards university), i can imagine this happening pleasee, not well written but i think it's cheesy (i originally wanted to tap in on mental load in couples because i found that meaningful but i couldn't fit that concept entirely in there)
summary: heeseung wants to take you out on a date, but you're too busy looking at the things that are not him
word count: 539 words
Tumblr media
“looking at this diagram, we can then derive…”
heeseung easily tuned out the lecture, choosing to steal glances at you. you sat to his right, studiously taking down relevant notes while he was…well, looking at you. Inching a little closer, he made sure that his fidgeting hasn’t caught your attention, as he leans towards you.
“you’ve got something to say?” you whispered under your breath, your eyes darting from the whiteboard to your notes.
“nope. i love you.” he whispered back, his right elbow shuffling closer so that it touched yours. he watched as you smiled to yourself, shaking your head whilst highlighting several keywords.
“you aren’t gonna pay attention? it’s important, you know.” you lightly chided, this time gazing at him and his heart skips a beat.
“you’re just as important and i rather stare at you than hear professor park drone on about some formula.” heeseung playfully retorted back and you rolled your eyes, left hand coming up to rest on his thigh.
“okay class, now about the upcoming mid-terms…here are some reminders…” you immediately took your hands off and resumed scribbling and heeseung nearly pouts at the warmth lost. he huffed, moving unbearably close to you. he side-eyes the things being written down, the dates you circled repeatedly and the content that was added bullet point after bullet point.
the same information was definitely gonna be disseminated through the class group chat anyways: he knows the class president well enough to “extort” notes easily.
yet you always tell him to start paying attention in class, but heeseung can’t really care; he was just glad to be with you.
speaking of which…
picking up his own pen, he writes down “DATE???”, before ripping the page of his notebook and pushing the paper towards you. his action caught your attention and you raised an eyebrow at the paper, before directing it to him.
a date? you mouthed. yeah, you and me. study date if you want. he mouthed back.
your focus was back on the scrap of paper and he already saw the cogs in your head whirring. heeseung knows you don't really like sudden surprises or abrupt changes to your plan, so saying it today would technically give him…about 3-4 buffer days.
he wrote down, “your favorite cafe, this weekend” and eyed your expression. you perked up, yet seriously considered it for a few seconds, and knowing you, giving it thought means he has room for a little negotiation.
“okay, what…” you hesitated. he stood a chance!
you gestured for him to lower his voice, yet there was only much he could do to contain his excitement.
he spoke in hushed tones, happiness coursing through his veins, "we can get whatever you want to eat! oh, that reminds me there's a new menu coming out too so we can check it out. what do you say?" heeseung nodded, trying to get approval. you seemed satisfied with his answer and nodded back, all while smiling.
"and...you can wear that fit you had just gotten over the weekends. i know you've been dying to wear that out." judging by your new level of excitement, heeseung knows he won you over.
"you're gonna match?" "yeah of course! anything with you."

restlessmaknae's request event [guide]
Tumblr media
Celebrating 6 years on Tumblr and a number of followers I thought I would never reach, I would like to repay you for your love and support in the form of a request event. Writing is a hobby of mine that allows me to escape, to push my boundaries, and to leave an impact on readers. Even if you crack a smile, laugh at the words or feel understood by them, I'm truly honoured that you've joined me on this journey. 💞
Now, onto the good stuff.
As voted by you, readers, in a previous poll of mine, you can request stories based on genres, settings, but you can also throw a prompt into the mix.
HOW DOES THAT WORK?
You send me an ask with a genre and/or setting and a certain idol in mind, but you can add a prompt from these lists as well (they might help with certain settings):
Prompt list #1: Enemies to lovers but one is injured
Prompt list #2: Prompts for ex-lovers
Prompt list #3: Sacred romantic moments
Prompt list #4: Hurt comfort starters
Prompt list #5: "I HATE YOU, BUT I JUST DID SOMETHING TO HELP YOU AND NOW I NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF" prompts
Here are some examples:
best friends to lovers with Jake (Enhypen)
prince!Intak (P1Harmony) in a fantasy kingdom
zombie apocalypse au with Serim (Cravity) + enemies to lovers
[prompt] with Hyunsuk (CIX)
[prompt] with Hyunsuk (CIX) + exes to lovers
[prompt] with Hyunsuk (CIX) + exes to lovers + murder mystery
RULES
Smaus, bulleted stories and reaction stories can't be requested
I don't write smut, and if I feel uncomfortable by your request, I have the right to reject it and not write it
Only member x reader/OC, no member x member stories can be requested (you can specify if you want a gender-neutral reader insert story, otherwise I write female!reader stories)
I decide on how long the story will be, but I plan on writing stories less than 5k for this event (so expect drabbles and one-shots)
There's no deadline by which I plan on posting your story, it depends on how much time I have beside my full-time job and how much inspiration I have for your requested story - so please, bear with me, I'll get around to it as soon as I can 🥰
One user can request up to 2 stories - for tagging reasons, I kindly ask you to let me know about the blog you want me to tag in case you would write the ask on anon (for instance, if your main blog isn't kpop-related, you can write on anon and tell me your kpop sideblog's URL/username)
I close the requests after receiving 12 requests or by 30th September - whichever comes first
I will combine all the requests into a masterlist as soon as they start coming in, so you know that I've received your message
BANDS/ARTISTS YOU CAN MAKE REQUESTS FOR:
A.C.E
ATEEZ
CIX
CRAVITY

𝐄𝐍𝐇𝐘𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓
Tumblr media
One, two, connect! We are ENHYPEN!
fluff - ☁️ angst - 🦋 series - 🌸 oneshot - 🎧 drabble - 💐
lee heeseung
You're Jealous (You Shouldn't Be) (☁️ + 🦋, 🎧)
─☆ friends to lovers, 1.3k words
you were tired of waiting around for heeseung to confess. so, to rile him up, you go on a 'date' with his best friend, jake.
park jongseong (jay)
A Bullet To My Heart, A Bullet To My Head (🦋, 🎧)
─☆ exes to (not so) lovers, 2.7k words
being part of a gang that murders isn't as badass and cool as those silly romance novels make it out to be. it involves questions, regrets, and tough decisions, including ones related to your ex, jay.
sim jaehyun (jake)
Nothing here yet.
park sunghoon
Love Stained Crown (🦋, 🌸)
─☆ royal au, prince x guard, 8.1k words
sunghoon has never felt any spark in his heart, none of that silly love he’s read about in novels in his free time. No one interested him, and it wasn’t like his father, the king, would let him have friends, male or female, for fear of being betrayed or developing feelings for them. He lived a life of isolation, excited for nothing – neither the idea of being married to a pretty princess nor becoming the next ruler of the Park kingdom. He most certainly did not expect you, his new guard, to change all that. He did not expect you to brighten his days and light up his heart.
kim sunoo
Nothing here yet.
yang jungwon
Diary Entries Filled With Her (🦋, 🌸)
─☆ classmates to lovers, written in the form of diary entries
yang jungwon preferred to keep to himself and his best friend, sunghoon, not really interacting with anyone else. he wrote about his life in his diary, and recently, he's been writing more about a certain newcomer into his small, troubled world. jang y/n.
nishimura riki (ni-ki)
Nothing here yet.
ot7
Orange Flower (☁️, 💐)
─☆ bf! enha x fem! reader, 1.1k words
they would do anything you asked them to – be it moving mountains or draining rivers. they’d do it, no matter how stupid it was. however, your simple request is there to put that love to test.
OR you ask the boys if they could peel your orange for you

REi iS THiNKiNG . . . & now taking drabble requests!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hello and welcome to ‘rei is thinking’! ^_^ i’m opening my reqs for the first time to write small drabbles!! i’m v inspired to write but i need a short break from writing bullet bites, & i feel like taking requests would be a fun way to keep writing meanwhile :D this project will be opened and closed sporadically, but it is a permanent project for the blog!
GUiDELiNES ─ dos and don’ts.
𔓕 DO : send fluff scenarios or prompts (since i suck at writing angst) for any ENHYPEN or TXT member, on anon or off anon! i’ll only take reqs that have one member per ask!!! please, specify if the reader is supposed to be a fem!reader or gn!reader. if not stated, i will write it as gn!reader :)
you can also send harry potter / percy jackson aus for the said groups, or any other type of au that doesn't fit the ones below!! (ex : vampire aus, high school / college, band aus, etc. etc.)
𔓕 DON’T : send any type of nsfw, yandere, gore, rape, suicide, incest, cheating, toxic / abusive, hybrid aus, or any triggering content, member x member.
i’ll prioritize the first asks, and depending on how many i get they might take a while to get finished! all the works will be below 1k (unless i get carried away HEL). if your request made me uncomfortable then i might delete it.
all the works will be archived under my tags #𔒌 ─ cupid’s arrow. and #⪩⪨ ─ rei is thinking.
good requesting!! <3

— alternatively, enhypen maknaes as your typical high school crush!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIR. high school! enhypen maknaes x gn!reader (rest under cut) GENRE. fluff, high school au, bullet points WORD COUNT. 1.8k total HYUNG LINE VER.
김선우 — kim sunoo
candy hearts, spotify playlists, good morning texts, easy laughter, crescent smiles
in high school, sunoo's known as being super friendly and sociable
and because of that, he has a ton of friends
like he basically knows everyone
you and sunoo have definitely talked before, and you may have had a teensy tiny crush on him from your... downward of five interactions
he's kind of like your hallway crush!
however, you DON'T know that he has had a crush on you for FOREVER
like a MASSIVE one! SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL
and his friends are SICK AND TIRED of hearing about it
man's dedicated because he really saw you in every single one of your phases and STILL decides to like you. he's a real one
he's so whipped like he's hitting up the group chat (named "en- gang" by riki btw) at 1 in the morning being like
"GUESS WHAT?!!! she smiled at me today ☺️ i forgot to tell you all"
everyone is so done
"did you talk to her though"
"NO. i'm getting there"
"all you did was make eye contact for the past month be srs rn"
so one day jay and jungwon (your mutual friends), who were in the same english class as you both, were feeling DEVIOUS
it was the fall semester final project, and it was supposed to be worked on in teams of 2 to 3
"bro you are NOT working on it with us the love of your life is literally RIGHT there"
jay and jungwon took matters into their own hands and forcefully excluded sunoo ("you guys are so fake")
so now, with no other option, he had to approach you!
"do you have a group already? if not, we could work together?"
wait wtf he didn't say that
hey....
it was YOU???
you approached him first??? he was SHOCKED
tried to play it cool but his smile gave away how happy he was
"yes!!!! let's work together!!!!! :)"
the project actually went so well he has literally never been happier typing away on that document every night
updates the group chat periodically too
"when we were working on the google doc at 2 am in the morning our cursors went over each other’s & it was like we were holding hands :>>"
"how do i unsubscribe"
"you're just mad because you've never been in love <333"
secretly sunoo's thanking his friends though because now you guys are basically close friends!
while doing the project together you started talking about school, friends, life, and everything in between
talking with you just seemed so natural, and sunoo wonders why he was so afraid of it before
i'd like to think that with you, sunoo doesn't feel the need to always put on the bubbly and outgoing side of him
sometimes, he can just be quiet and calm sunoo with you, and the silence feels so comfortable and safe
you start hanging out more and more, and soon you've met so many people through sunoo that they think of you whenever they think of him too
it's like a package deal!
throughout this time he's still madly in love with you btw
he just wants to take things slow! he didn't want to scare you away or anything
and yes, the gc is STILL getting their daily sunooyn Down Bad News Network
"today during lunch she gave me a yakult bottle, i think she’s starting to like me back! :D"
he does Not know you've liked him all this time
the mutual pining is crazy
he (finally) confesses after a whole YEAR
he's super nervous about it, has possible plan b's scripted and sat through 30 minutes of youtube subliminal audios the day before for extra good luck
after he says his whole heartfelt confession, he gives you this handwritten letter with all of his favorite moments with you in the past year, complete with spotify codes next to each one that links to a specific song he thought of at the time
you teared up a bit because oh my gosh it was so cute he was so cute and your heart just melted
you told him you've liked him since forever too and he was FLABBERGASTED
you both also reveal that you've BOTH had hidden spotify playlists dedicated for each other???
let's just say that even years later, the 'en- gang' group chat would NEVER let sunoo live down his digital footprint
양정원 — yang jungwon
strawberries, honors classes, coming of age, familiarity, inside jokes, paper rings
your childhood best friend
who just so happens to also be mr student council president, king of extracurriculars, resident academic powerhouse
and also a LITTLE SHIT about it
since elementary school, you've got some friendly (and not-so-friendly) rivalry going on
"we both know who’s going to get the higher score for this chem final”
“yeah, and it’s going to be me”
“NAH”
but the drive you get from the competition is really what brought you guys together
it's what keeps you motivated, it's what keeps you going
and he's funny! (though you'd never admit it)
because yes, you're both trying to beat each other for the top spot in class rank
but you also get each other
you've been study buddies since the beginning of time, and he keeps the two of you accountable
sometimes he's TOO responsible
"jungwon don't let the pomodoro timer dictate you life can we PLEASE take a snack break right nowww"
"we literally did that FIVE MINUTES AGO"
outside of studying he's really chill though
one summer he started to get really into alchemy of souls and you binged the series twice together, effectively destroying both of your sleep schedules right before school started
he just loves existing in the same space as you tbh
definitely loves calling you for hours during the school year, whether to review for an upcoming exam or to just have the two of you do your own things while connected on the phone
it's pretty common for the two of you to fall asleep while on call with one another
late night yapping sessions (hello??? his weverse addiction??)
he feels like he can just let his responsibilities go and you're the only person who really understands him and everything he does and why he does it
lowkey.... he also just wants to make you proud :(
he was so happy that one time you offhandedly mentioned how you've seen and appreciated all the hard work he was putting in for one of the school events
when he eventually confessed to you, everything just made sense
like the way your eyes always lingered on his bright smile when he showed up on your doorstep at the crack of dawn
and how even when you tease each other, you never miss how he would reach for your hand with his own before retracting it hurriedly as if changing his mind
now, oh he just makes you feel so loved
texts you at random times of the day just because, sending you the most random images and captioning them with "us"
he's still got the silliness in him though!
"i want to try every strawberry with chocolate combination with you <333"
西村力 — nishimura riki
neon lights, school dances, sunglasses, finger guns, playful banter, shared hoodies
honestly he's just at school for the vibes
however, he DID take homecoming very seriously
with one goal in mind: to DOMINATE the dance floor
and dominate he did.
he partied in the USA so hard that by the end of the night, everyone was talking about that freshman who left everyone speechless at a HIGH SCHOOL DANCE
among those witnesses of how riki out-danced the entire school population, were you
and you thought he was literally the coolest person ever
fast forward two years, and you're a junior now
it's all good! you've definitely outgrown your month-long admiration of the Guy From Hoco
but yo what guess who sits right next to your seat in class???
it's the Guy From Hoco himself
honestly, you're a pretty chill person so you turned to him and were like "hey aren't you that guy that got famous back during hoco freshman year?"
but now? he’s EMBARRASSED to admit it
"oh uhhh that wasn't me haha"
boy bffr you would know his face anywhere
you kind of gave him a questioning look and shrugged
"oh well, i thought it was really cool though"
he instantly backtracks, because you thought it was cool and NOT an aura loss????
"wait i think i remember now haha that WAS me!!!"
you guys match energy so well tbh
he started to catch feelings for you because of how funny you were and how you two just clicked, but he was stuck in denial FOREVER
"I DON'T CHASE I ATTRACT" (desperate)
heeseung also tried to give him "rizz counseling" but that just ended up with them both saying "mb gang" at everything
which was..... not very rizzy!
you had convinced him to audition for the competition dance team at your school, which he obviously made
he texted you the day he got in too, typing in all caps in everything which he NEVER does
"why would you scream about things in caps lock when you can be cool and nonchalant" YEAH SURE RIKI
updated all his social media bios to @[school]varsitydanceteam the moment he got the acceptance notif
“[name] is my instagram bio tuff”
“WHY ARE U ALR PUTTING IT IN YOUR BIO"
"because i’m committed and it lets them know i’m part of a professional community"
(heeseung told him that it would show his commitment to the sport and thus his potential to commit to you.)
at this point, riki was ready to fire heeseung and switch to jake as his ghostwriter 💀
but little did he know, you started liking him too once you saw how genuinely hardworking he was when he has a goal
like those hours he spent on call with you asking if you thought this one move was clean enough?? he really put in his all (he also wanted to impress you)
you kind of had the idea that he liked you back, because let's be honest he was being a bit obvious about it
the way he almost choked when you hugged him congratulations??? he looked DAZED for a whole hour
you had to confess to riki because his heejake rizz courses consisted mainly of heeseung and jake arguing about whose approach was better
even when you two became a couple, you still had teasing as a love language LMAO
"HAHA 🫵🫵 YOU'RE SO SHORT i still love you though <3"
it's just how he shows his love, but he also loves draping his arm across your shoulders when walking around
made sure to emphasize to heeseung and jake that this was all his doing and they did not help him at ALL
but let's be real, YOU were the rizziest of them all
and riki agrees <3

Like Unrequited
Tumblr media
Part ONE | Part TWO | Part THREE | Part FOUR
pairing : heeseung x fem!reader / sunghoon x fem!reader
genre : angst/fluff. bulleted.
warnings : unrequited crush. slight feelings of awkwardness and abandonment. ambiguous relationship though - especially towards the end.
summary : how to confess to someone who doesn’t feel the same.
Tumblr media
‘I like you, Heeseung’
All you could see was his eyes
How they enlarged at the words you just spluttered
He hesitated
And at that the world seemed to rush down your throat and rob you of the air in your lungs
Uh.
But still the hope in your stomach flickered like a small fire
A small pathetic little fire
‘I-I….I don’t see you in that way Y/N...I’m sorry.’
Heeseung didn’t smile as he said that
But he squeezed at your shoulder to anchor you down to the reality of it all
You liked Heeseung
And he didn’t like you back
All those teenage movies you watched in an attempt to motivate you seemed to laugh at you
All those beautiful actresses and all those beautiful actors planting the seed of false hope in the victims of love unrequited
‘That’s okay?’
You smiled.
I’m sure you’ve never seen yourself wear the most bullshit smile you’ve ever bullshitted
Heeseung smacked his lips together and warmly smiled at you
‘I’ll see you at school tomorrow, okay?’
Uh.
‘..Maybe. I might just, uh- hang out in the library for a while.’
He grimaced at that
He didn’t want to make you feel as if you weren’t friends
He didn’t want to say ‘friends tho, right?’ as some sort of compensation for your feelings he didn’t share
He felt for you
He loved you (in a way that was only platonic)
And yet-
‘Okay.’
The next day Heeseung had waved at you whilst flanked by the other boys and Ryujin at his side
Jungwon hugged you and asked if you were coming to lunch
‘Nope,’
‘BOOO,’  Niki shouted in Sunoo’s ear
‘What about tomorrow then? I’ve still got that post I want you to see in person’ Jay whined.
‘I dunno I’ll let you know though.’
Ryujin squeezed your hand as she followed you down the hallway away from the boys
‘How was it?’ Ryujin bit her lip with her sympathetic eyes
You shook your head
‘Imma need time. I think.’
‘Okay. Don’t be a stranger.’
Ryujin smiled and hugged you tightly, ‘It’s just one guy, my buddy.’
‘A guy I just happen to like and who’s kind and who I used to gush about for hours on end and-’
‘I was trying to lighten the mood, but my bad,’ Ryujin chuckled a little before letting you go
‘Mhmm’
With a final goodbye you dawdled to the library with your assignments and errands listed in your head for you to do
You took a seat and dug through your bag for your books and pencil case filled with pens and highlighters and got to working
You spent what felt like hours in the library, filling in gaps and writing down notes that you’ve been holding off for what felt like weeks
You sighed as you flicked out your wrist in an attempt to dissipate your pen cramp
That’s when the antics of two boys called your attention
They whispered heatedly between the two of them as they fussed over their written notes and their bags
‘Out of all days, you’re cramming now?’
‘I didn’t know it was due today and you didn’t either!’
‘You don’t even have a pen-’
You giggled to yourself and that had the boys look over to you sheepishly
‘Hey,’
‘Can I borrow a pen?’
You grinned and nodded, pulling out a pen of your pencil case
‘Oh my god. Why aren’t you this helpful?’
‘Fuck you.’
After awhile as they had written down all their points and you had gone back to your work, giggling a little at their quips
‘Here’s your pen. Thanks, really.’
‘No worries...what test is it for?’
‘This science research test. I’m not prepared for it, obviously. But Jake is.’
Sunghoon had explained, cocking his head toward Jake
Jake giggled in reply
‘In that case, you may as well keep the pen.’
Sunghoon grinned
‘Thank you. Do you want the pen back?’
‘I’m not sure about today.. but that could change.’
Meanwhile in the background, Jake smirked at your little exchange, preparing to tell all his and Sunghoon’s friends about his little conversation with a pretty girl in the library
The next few days were spent with Sunghoon and Jake
They had an assignment due that next Wednesday
You had your errands
But as the hours and the days flew by, the time spent actually working on your studies depleted and they were spent getting to know each other
They both gave your their number and you gave yours
You started making plans for after school and weekends
Ryujin wanted you to come to a party with her on Saturday (the boys were going to be there too and Sunoo was missing you)
But you had plans (with Sunghoon)
You started missing phone calls from your friends because you were busy spending time with Sunghoon.
You told Sunghoon and Jake all about your attempt at confessing and that had set Jake off on a tangent about how stupid the guy was and Sunghoon had opted to hold your hand
Your library hangouts had turned into ‘hangouts’ and extended outside of the library
And one day you were with Sunghoon and Jake on the lunch table, smiling at their antics and their whatever-the-fuck-they-were-doing
‘Y/N!’
You turned towards the voice, Sunghoon and Jake following you too
Sunoo reached towards you and hugged you
‘Feel like I never see you, like ever.’
‘I miss you.’
‘Me too,’ You smile.
You looked over at Heeseung and your smile failed a little bit at the way he held a girl’s hand in his
‘Hey,’ He smiled, feeling a little awkward at the revelation of his new girlfriend/friend/fling?
Truthfully he didn’t know who she was
But he wanted to find out
He was also confused at the new friends of yours
Jungwon walked over to you, looking at Sunghoon confusedly, ‘I didn’t know you knew Y/N.’
‘Surprise’
Sunghoon watched as you struggled to gain the confidence to introduce them to your other friends
He reached over and grabbed your hand in his, offering a small smile ‘I’m Sunghoon’
‘Jake’
‘I haven’t seen you in awhile my girl,’ Ryujin said, toe tapping your ankle
‘Sorry, I’ve been with these two this whole time. Super busy.’
Everyone frowns at your short sentence and your sudden uncomfortableness with the whole group in front of you, your easygoingness replaced with something that felt foreign to them
That didn’t really change throughout the week
The only one that really got the same response from you was Sunoo and even that was tampered with
You smiled in front of Sunghoon and Jake like you’re usual
Jungwon, Heeseung, Niki, Jay and Ryujin could only look on as you seemed to distance yourself from them all
Jay still had that one post he had to show you but when he had shown it too
You had pursed your lips in reply and looked at Jake with a secretive smile that you used to use with him
But you smiled at Jay and hugged him goodbye
They weren’t happy (meaning Heeseung and pals)
You did miss your friends
But-
You were happy with Sunghoon and Jake.
Very happy.
Heeseung sighed at the way you branched off with your new friends, leaving him and Ryujin in the dust
‘Okay, I can’t fucking do this anymore,’
Ryujin swore and turned towards him
‘You need to fucking say something. Because I’m sick and tired of being ignored by my best fucking friend in exchange for two boys. Two hot boys, but still boys nonetheless.’
Heeseung sighed at that
He did, didn’t he
So with a bated breath, he approached you when you were alone
No Sunghoon or Jake
Just you
He loomed over you as he attempted to find the words to say
‘Hey’
‘Hey’
How are you?’
‘Good. You?’
‘I’m good.’
You nodded and looked over his shoulder in an attempt to find your friends
‘Y/N. Listen.’
Heeseung pleaded and he looked so desperate you couldn’t help but stare at him
‘I like you as my friend so please just keep being my friend.’
‘I am. I am, I just want space and I want time to be able to treat you like a pal and not the guy I like, Heeseung.’
‘That doesn’t explain why you’re ignoring the whole group.’
‘I’m not.’
‘You are! Sunoo misses you like fucking crazy and you are actually separated from Ryujin. That doesn’t feel normal.’
‘But I like being around the boys,’
‘SO LET THEM JOIN US. You don’t even have to look at me or speak to me, if you’re going to be my friend, please for the love of everything cheesy, we’re your friends too. Jay has even started sulking and you know he doesn’t hold grudges.’
You sighed
‘You’re right.’
‘I’m always right.’
‘I’ll let Sunghoon and Jake know then.’
‘Yes. Do that.’
So that lunch time, after attempting to persuade Jake who was more than happy to greet friends of yours and Sunghoon who was unhappy with Heeseung still
Sunghoon looked at you softly and then looked at Heeseung in a way that wasn’t the most friendly
‘Hey guys. This is Sunghoon and Jake.’
Jake waved and Sunghoon nodded, linking his fingers with yours
You turned towards him with a small smile
‘Uhhh- I was hoping we could all-join?’
They all couldn’t have been faster to nod or make room for you, welcoming you back with open arms and eager hearts.

enhypen giving their s/o the look of love
request: Hiii! Is it possible for me to request an enhypen giving their S/O the look of love, like the ones in the k-dramas. If not that's perfectly fine!
pairing: enhypen x gn! reader (individually)
warnings: none just pure fluff, lower case intended, non-idol!au
a/n: hi, tysm for requesting ^^ I hope its fine that I did it with bullet points, since it was easier writing it this way. I hope you like and enjoy <3
continue under the cut !
Tumblr media
lee heeseung
okay so, we all know that heeseung is the ace of enhypen right?
and he has a perfect pitch
so you're his s/o and you need help in your music class
and lets say that you are given a project to play one of your favorite songs by just listening to the music and recreating it.
like yaknow- just playing it on an instrument without knowing the exact chords
and you're quite struggling with recreating your chosen song, and you chose to play the piano
and here's where heeseung comes in
you told him you needed help with the project
and he immediately helped you
oh to have a lee heeseung in my life
and when you started to get the hang of it
heeseung let you play it by yourself
and why you're playing, he just looks at you with a fond smile
and all in his mind was
"how did I get so lucky to have them as my s/o"
he's so in love with you pls :((
park jongseong
oh boy, so we know that jay's family is rich right?
and that he's an only child
so we can only picture that his parents might be strict regarding jay's dating life.
and can also picture that his parents want to meet his s/o immediately within a week or two of being them official
and here you are sitting on jay's front seat on the way to their his parent's house
you were really worried that his parents wouldn't approve the both of you
but jay kept on reassuring you that his parents would love you
thanks to jay's reassurance, your worries faded away
not until you step into the front porch that is
after jay introduced you to his parents in the living room, they invited you to eat
and during dinner, you and his mom hit off quite well
both of you were smiling and laughing as if you guys knew each other
and jay couldn't help but stare at you lovingly while you have fun with his mother
while resting his head in one of his arms that are propped to the table
I can even see him joke to his mom that she's stealing his s/o away from him lmao
sim jaeyun
ok so, this boy loves his physics, right?
like how kuroo loves his chemistry
anyways
so imagine him having a s/o that equally loves physics like he does
aka, you
lmao I just know that I don't love physics
so, of course, it's normal for the both of you to go out on dates and all
but lets say that both of you don't know that you both love physics vv much
only both of you know that both of you tolerate physics
so both of you went on a study date for the first time
and when it was time to study physics,
you can't help but just ramble about random physics facts and trivia to jake
and right then and there he just stares at you with heart eyes
pls mans is in love with u bestie
park sunghoon
so our ice prince
I can just see him teaching his s/o how to ice skate
like how he taught the members to ice skate
so you both went out on a date
and hoon suggested that you try to ice skate and that he'll help you
so, obviously not letting the opportunity pass, you agreed
I mean who would let the opportunity pass
so at the skating rink, you wouldn't let go of sunghoon's hand while he guides you on how to skate
sunghoon wouldn't give up to help you
and after thirty minutes or so, you got the hang of it
and while skating around, you shouted
"sunghoon, look at me!"
bestie, you didn't have to tell him, he's been looking at you from the start
but when you started to skate closer to him
he couldn't help but just look at you with adoration and love with a smile
like the one where he looked at the members while they skate
I am so lucky to have them as my s/o, sunghoon thinks
your s/o is lucky to have you as well sunghoon.
kim sunoo
so kim sunoo with his love with mint choco
could never be me lol
so imagine him having a s/o that likes mint choco too
you guys were going out on a date
and both of you decided to eat ice cream for dessert
so when he heard that you ordered the same flavor, aka mint choco
pls the way he looked at you :((
sunoo felt like he was the happiest man on earth
that he got the best s/o in the world
since not a lot of people liked mint choco and some ppl judged him for liking mint choco
and lets say that he had one ex that disliked mint choco and was the reason why they broke up
shitty reason ik
and because of that, he was shocked that he found someone that liked mint choco like he does
pls ppl need to appreciate kim sunoo more :((
yang jungwon
so our leader
we know that jungwon has the love for cacti
and we know what happened to injang right?
rip injang btw
so you as his s/o
you wanted to give him a new cactus, as a gift
definitely not to replace injang, jk
so lets say the plants were places in his room
so when he walked in and he saw you there placing a new cactus and watering garden a bit
his heart just went
🥺💕🥺💓🥺💘
he literally gave you heart eyes while you talked about how you planned on getting him a new cactus
nishimura riki
our maknae-
our dancing prodigy—
anyways
both of you were in his parent’s dance studio
he thought you a new choreography that he did by himself
and you were struggling at first
but, after a couple of days
you finally mastered the full choreography
so of course, you had to show ni-ki
so you called him if you guys could go to their studio again,
because you wanted to show him something
so here you are preparing to show ni-ki the dance he thought you
while he sat in front of you, with his back against the mirror
and let me tell you that ni-ki does not know that you mastered the choreo already
so when you started dancing
pls when i tell you ni-ki staring at you with 😍 in his face
pls believe me
he never looked at someone that way
and he was so proud of you :((
so after you finished
oh boy, he immediately tackled you into a hug
buy me a coffee?

Tumblr media
A sharp burn ran down your throat after you swallowed the shot of whiskey in a hurry to clear your head. The bartender came over and refilled the shot glass with a bottle that had previously been on the shelf of alcoholic drinks. This time you didn’t down the shot immediately. You let it sit in front of you for a second while you thought. Music was blaring behind you providing those at the dance floor with a beat to move against. But to you it only increased the headache behind your eyes. At the moment, you felt like you were going to burst because of your emotions.
Thousands of thoughts were running through your head despite the extremely loud bass blasting behind you. It had been a long day followed by a long week; it seemed to be a year’s length crammed into one month. All of the planning, dealing, and investigating you had put  your time into had been all for nothing. Everything that had been leading up to yesterday, turned out to be a flop. None of your sources were good. All of the evidence and proof you had lined up disappeared and for the first time, in what felt like forever, you were mentally back at square one.
Being a Mafia Boss had its pros and cons, its ups and downs, and even its ins and outs. But one thing always remained the same. You. Nobody, nothing, or anything changed the fact that you were in charge. There was no one in the business who got things done like you did. All of the rival Mafia’s you’ve ever come in contact with were egotistic, dumb, and all bark no bite. You on the other hand, came with purpose, determination, strength, and all bite. Normally, you didn’t like to bark. It gave away your position. Biting however, got the job done.
Tonight, you had gone on a night out by yourself in hopes of regaining what you had lost; your mind. The whiskey wasn’t doing much, and you weren’t in the mood to dance or be around anyone. Eventually, you paid for the drinks you had at the bar and retreated to the exit. The club wasn’t doing anything to soothe your mind and your blood pressure was building at the thought of being vulnerable so close to an attack. It was time to go home. Maybe there you could relax your mind and rest.
As you walked down the stairs to the exit, you had to card your way through drunk morons and people who slopped their drinks all over the steps because they were too carried away by the music. This usually was an issue with people like you; a Mafia boss came with a temper. One splash on whatever new expensive designer clothing the boss was wearing, the next thing you know you’ve got one bullet through your skull and one trip to an unknown place to get rid of your body. A long time ago your temper got you into trouble. The kind of trouble you had a hard time trying to fix. Since then you’ve let the unimportant things run off your shoulder. One spill of a drink wouldn’t hurt you. You had the money to purchase another jacket if it came to that.
When you pushed open the door to the parking lot, the cold air greeted you. The dragon breath coming out of your mouth accompanied you to your car and stayed with you until you got the heater running. In some ways the cold was comforting to you; it kept your senses sharp and aware, something you needed right now in your helpless thinking. Knowing better than to sit in your car and think, you pulled out of the parking lot and drove yourself home.
All the streets were empty due to the late hour. Oh, how you wish your mind would do the same.
Inside your apartment, the darkness greeted you. Knowing the living room like the back of your hand, you made your way over to the nearest lamp and flipped the switch to help give you some light. You removed your trench coat, throwing it on the couch next to you before running your hand through your hair a couple of times. It helped relieve some of the tension you were feeling. The living room was empty, yet you could sense someone else inside the apartment. Where? You were about to find out.
There was a gun planted somewhere close to each room in your house. Only the important rooms had their guns loaded, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t load a gun at lightning speed before firing. There was a gun near the kitchen under the bar, one in the hallway under the decorative table, another in the living room right next to you, and two for each bathroom. Your apartment wasn’t very big despite your wealth. It was homier this way and didn’t draw suspicion in your direction from opposing enemies. Though the appearance wasn’t to be taken lightly.
Slowly, you made your way to the kitchen first. It was the second place someone could be hiding instead of the living room. Not afraid of who might be in there, you walked around the corner of the wall. When you did see a silhouette of someone standing on the other side of the kitchen, your hand snatched the gun from underneath the bar. You aimed the barrel of the gun at the intruder and flipped on the light to see who had entered your apartment.
“I guess I should’ve knocked,” he spoke, setting his cup of coffee down on the counter next to him. You smiled widely at the person you hadn’t seen in a couple of months, letting your hand holding the gun drop to your side, “or maybe called.”
“Called,” you pointedly told him as you set the gun down to run into his open arms and welcoming smile. He engulfed you in his arms and squeezed you tightly against him. His pink hair color struck you dumb but still gave you goosebumps. You didn’t let it stun you too much. “You know, back when we were teenagers, you always called or even texted me when you were coming to see me. Now you disappear for months without telling me anything.”
“I know,” he mumbled into your hair as he got comfortable in the embrace of your arms. You pulled back to look at his face and smiled at the sight of his shiny eyes staring back down at you. “I’m sorry.”
“I forgive you,” you said, pulling away from him and going back to the gun you had placed on the counter. A small longing filled his chest when you pulled away, but he kept that feeling to himself. You fixed the gun back into its spot under the bar and turned back to face him. “So where did my best friend go this time, or will you not tell me for work reasons?”
“You guessed correctly,” he answered, grabbing his cup again to take a sip. The disappointment in your face didn’t go unnoticed by him. Deep down inside he wanted to tell you, but he couldn’t.
“Was it sunny?” you pushed. He hummed and hid his smile behind the cup, trying not to give himself away. When you poked and prodded like you were doing now, he usually lost the battle and caved in to tell you where he had gone. This time he couldn’t tell you, even if you poked around at him. “Did it have a beach?”
“Maybe,” he carried on, avoiding any serious giveaways. “it could have had mountains, beaches, forests, cliffs, or maybe just a regular town. Or a city. Whichever you prefer.”
“Yeonjun!” you whined out, realizing that you weren’t going to break his guard. “I understand you didn’t want to stick around here and wanted to do your own thing, but you won’t tell me anything!”
“I’ve already told you, Y/n. My work can’t be shared due to the confidentiality,” Yeonjun sighed, feeling guilty for leaving you in the dark since he loved you so much. Although, the confidentiality of his job wasn’t the only reason why he kept you in the dark. There were other reasons he couldn’t bring himself to tell you.
A long time ago before the two of you were grown adults and had to live completely separate lives, you were in love. It all started at the age of fifteen when you met him for the first time at a summer camp. He was one of the most popular kids there and always had a flock of kids around him. You on the other hand had made an idiot of yourself by distancing from everyone. You always were the least favorited kid at camp. The stares and whispers you heard from other kids didn’t get you down, it only fueled your determination. Yeonjun saw that and wanted to be your friend when no one else did.
The two of you figured out you lived in the same city after camp ended. Neither of you could be bothered to split from each other even after you got back home. Slowly things grew into something more than a friendship of jokes and fun activities. When you saw him, you would get butterflies in your stomach and blush when he complimented you. That all led to the night of your eighteenth birthday when he surprised you; a confession, and a kiss to confirm it.
“Fine,” you caved, growing slightly irritated with him. Since he surprised you, you didn’t want to scare him off with a silly argument regarding his job. He had made his decision and you needed to respect that. Never had he asked you what you eventually ended up doing in life, and you needed to return the favor. No matter how much it hurt to keep your life a secret from him. You wished things could be similar to the way they used to be. There were too many secrets.
“Where were you and why are you dressed up?” Yeonjun changed the subject to your attire, leading the two of you into the living room where he took a seat on one of your couches. He tried to come off casual, but you could see in his eyes that he was only asking the question to either deny his jealousy or confirm it. You followed him and gathered up your trench coat to put away.
“I went out.” you answered, walking to the back so you could change into comfy clothes. Yeonjun remained in the living room trying to guess where the rest of your guns were. He hadn’t shown his surprise when you randomly pulled a gun from underneath the bar in the kitchen. At least if he knew where they were, he could be sure of whether he might get shot the next time he visited you.
Wait. Yeonjun paused. She didn’t answer my question. “Did you go to a club?”
“Yeah,” you yelled, pulling on a soft oversized shirt to match your shorts. You tied back your hair and slipped off your shoes before going back into the living area. “I needed a night out.”
“Did you go with someone?” Yeonjun looked away from staring down the hallway you had just come from and over to where you were sitting. A small curious smile appeared on your lips as you looked in the same direction.
Deciding to not question him on why he had been looking down the hallway, you replied, “My date was a tall handsome Californian guy who treated me well.”
Yeonjun’s jaw clenched and he set his drink down on the coffee table in front of him, “That’s not funny.” Your smirk told him you were kidding, but he wasn’t laughing. The two of you had agreed to wait for each other in hopes of making things steadier in the future.
“How long have you been waiting in my apartment for?” you suddenly asked, remembering that he had surprised you in the kitchen. Yeonjun smiled softly and looked at the watch on his wrist. He squeezed one eye closed and looked up at the ceiling as he configured time in his head.
“I think I was here for an hour,” he answered, nodding slowly as he decided that was the right amount of time he had been waiting. Then suddenly, he changed the subject, “Do you want to watch a movie?”
“Now?” you raised your eyebrows in surprise. It had been a long time since the two of you had watched a movie, let alone together. When you turned twenty, the two of you stopped doing stuff together and slowly drifted off to do your own things. It sounded nice, and you could call off work for an hour or two.
“I don’t have anywhere to be for the night. I have to work again in the morning, but other than that I’m free,” Yeonjun told you. Something was up, but you didn’t want to question the offer or turn it down.
A smile came upon your lips and you looked over at the shelf next to your tv where all of your movies were organized. “What do you want to watch?”
Later that night, you two were on your second movie. The time was past your bedtime leading into the earlier hours of the morning. Yeonjun had his arm over your shoulders and his legs up on the coffee table while you had your head laying on his lap. The feeling of him next to you was something you missed so much, and you didn’t dare move in case you scared him away. An occasional laugh left him as he watched the tv screen, and it left you thinking back to the time when you were kids. Back then you heard his laugh more often.
“It’s getting late,” Yeonjun mumbled when the movie had finished and the tv screen had gone black. His fingers were resting on your forearm with his arm still laying over your shoulder. He pushed the hair on the side of your face behind your ear and leaned forward slightly to peek at your face. Because you hadn’t responded to his comment, he had wondered if you had fallen asleep.
“Yeah,” you nodded slowly, using the arm you were laying on to help lift yourself up. Yeonjun moved to the edge of the couch and stretched his back out from sitting in the same position for far too long. “You can sleep in the spare bedroom if you don’t want to get out so late at night.”
“Thank you,” Yeonjun started, looking at his watch and sighing deeply, “but I need to get back home so I’m not late for work in the morning.”
A small ping of disappointment struck your heart, but you replaced it with understanding and stood up to walk him to the door. Times like these were the worst in your opinion. Every time you had to say goodbye and depart after catching up, there was an uncertainty on whether you would see him again or not. Since you were the Mafia boss on everyone’s kill list, there was a high chance that you could leave Yeonjun quicker than you thought. As for Yeonjun, you weren’t aware of the dangers surrounding him, which led you to think it was you who would leave him and not vice versa. Oh, how little did you know.
“Thank you for coming to see me,” you said, hugging him tightly. He placed his lips against your head and held you close to him, not wanting to let you go. If he didn’t let go soon, he wouldn’t be able to at all.
“Y/n,” Yeonjun mumbled, pulling away from your forehead and looking into your eyes with something you hadn’t seen in a long time. Passion. He continued, “I want for us to be together and not have to worry about anything coming in between us. I just need to fix a few things and then maybe we can start thinking about a future together.”
“I don’t know if we can,” you whispered, not wanting to say those words but knowing that they were all you could say. Of course, you wanted to have a future with him, but with you running the family business, there wasn’t much room for you to be flexible. Not to mention keeping your occupation a secret from him for the rest of his life, which in fact you could never do.
“I just need to fix a few things and then we can think about it,” he repeated, confident in whatever he was trying to accomplish just so he could be with you. It didn’t reassure your heart one bit, but his determination kept you from reality and gave you a dream to imagine; a chance to be with the only boy you’ve ever truly loved.
“Okay,” the soft reply was all you gave him.
“Thank you for not shooting me,” Yeonjun teased, taking the light thump of your index finger and thumb delivered to his ear. He let out a small noise in protest though and exited your apartment into the hallway. Placing his hands in his jacket pockets, he gave you one last smile. “I’ll see you later.”
You returned the smile lightly. As he turned to leave, you stopped him, “Yeonjun?” He looked over his shoulder expectantly, waiting for what you wanted to say. Then he heard it, “Kiss me goodbye?”
He couldn’t help it; a huge smile lit up his lips and he took a step forward. His hands pulled your waist toward him and his lips came down to caress yours. For the first time in a while, your stomach became a butterfly cage and chills ran up your arms and into your cheeks, mixing with the flush pooling there. One of his hands came up and cupped your jaw in a loving way. His thumb brushed over your cheek when he pulled away and stared lovingly into your eyes. He exchanged eskimo kisses with you, listening to you speak.
  “I love you.”
“I love you too.” he whispered, then with much difficulty, Yeonjun pulled away and disappeared down the hall. He was leaving for what seemed to be the last time; uncertainly taking the reins for the time being until relief and resolute made their full circle back to you. It was a constant cycle. One that seemed to be taking a harder toll on you the longer it continued. Oh, how things have changed since your parents had died.
In the morning, you walked into headquarters, a large building labeled to be a corporation of a long line of overseas businesses to give you some cover. To sell the act, you did indeed set up businesses overseas and took care of them without blowing your disguise. Your hand held your morning cup of coffee from your favorite coffee place and in the other arm was your bag of schedules. Nobody payed you any attention except for the receptionist in the lobby and your second in command who was waiting for you when you stepped off the elevator.
“Did you regain your mind, or did you lose it in a heavy hangover from last night?” your second in command asked. He walked with you down the hallway that led to your office. His attire was casual jeans with a loose shirt tucked into the hip line. His hair was pushed back, revealing his undercut and the dark hair underneath his bleached blonde hair.
“No,” you dismissed his half crude question. “I actually have a plan to fix what we lost.”
“Oh, do you now?” he raised his eyebrows and placed his hands on your desk to lean closer to you. “Did you come up with the plan just before you went to sleep or did Yeonjun help you figure it out while the two of you watched movies for hours?”
“What is the first rule when it comes to my personal life?” you questioned, setting your coffee down on your desk and placing the bag of schedules on the floor. The sudden question made him straighten up and look you in the eyes to answer.
  “No discussion regarding close relationships.”
“And who’s name did you just mention?”
  “Your ex-lover’s name.”
A sigh left your lips as you looked away from his serious eyes. It was difficult to make him understand the deal you had made with Yeonjun when the whole issue seemed very suspicious. No business in your opinion should come between any relationship. He was the only bit of your past that you had left. When Yeonjun left, you immediately became the chairman of your family’s Mafia without him knowing. It had remained that way.
“I know you don’t like the relationship we’ve established, but I need him in my life, Jay.”
“I just get overprotective when he’s around. He asked me to take care of you when he left. I didn’t think that meant he would distance himself all because of his classified job. Nothing can be more classified than a job like the Mafia so what’s the big deal?” Jay sighed heavily and took a seat in one of the chairs resting in front of your desk. The nod he received didn’t make him feel any better. To him, Yeonjun had abandoned you and used him to pick up the broken pieces. His occasional pop-ins weren’t welcome in Jay’s opinion.
“I didn’t make the plan with Yeonjun. He doesn’t know of anything that happened in the company. I don’t ask him about his job, and he returns the favor. Everything was planned out after he left my apartment,” you told Jay as you unloaded the bag and sat down in your chair to look over the papers that had been placed on your desk early this morning. “Since you were watching my apartment through your second pair of eyes, you should have known. Who did you send this time?”
“Jake wouldn’t do it after you caught him last time,” Jay frowned still feeling irritated with the younger boy. “I sent Niki in his place, but he fell asleep after three hours.”
  “I appreciate the privacy.” Sarcasm.
“You have no privacy when Yeonjun visits you,” Jay said, getting up from his seat and walking over to the door to leave. Jay stopped halfway to the door and glanced back at you, “I will break your rule when Yeonjun is with you. I lost trust in him when he left and to this day it remains.”
“Jay,” you called out right as he reached the door. He stopped respectively and turned his head to look at you. Jay was slowly becoming a pounding headache to you, “Come here and stand in front of my desk.”
Obeying the order, he walked back over to your desk and did as you said. All the while you were making your way around your desk to stand in front of him. He towered over you with the intimidating aura you appreciated so much. His aura came in handy in times of stubbornness or persuasion. At the moment, it had zero effect on you. Giving the silence a second to linger, you let Jay fear what you might do after he had spoken to you in a disrespectful way.
Your hand came up and twisted into the collar of his shirt before you yanked him forward to your level. His breath escaped his nose in uncertainty, but his eyes stayed calm and his body tensed into the position you had it in. You brought your tone down in a warning, “I don’t care who you don’t trust. However, remember that it’s very important who I trust. Don’t get on my bad side Park.”
The tip of a knife pressed dangerously hard into your diaphragm as soon as you finished speaking. With a small glance under your arm, you noticed Jay’s hand gripping one of his knifes. “Don’t threaten me,” Jay mumbled angrily. “I am older than you.”
“Get out.” you demanded, releasing his collar with a slight shove. Not even a knife pressed to your diaphragm scared you. Jay’s threat only made you madder. A real threat was in the wake of your anger and it was important that Jay leave your office this second. Hell was ascending upon the room, and you didn’t hold back when the time came to release it. Jay would have to suffer the consequences of making you angry.
Jay walked in a frustrated pace back to the office door and opened it, “Our conversation isn’t over.”
The next thing he knew, there was glass shattering above his head. He shielded his eyes from the shards and exited your office quickly to avoid more glass being thrown at him. Jay cursed under his breath and held his temper back. He tried not to let you get to his nerves like you usually did. Niki was in the hallway on the other side of the door with wide eyes. Then a humorous smirk appeared on his lips as he leaned forward and grabbed a large share of glass out of Jay’s hair.
  “Niki—”
Heeseung, your fighting specialist, suddenly appeared next to the youngest halfway into asking him a question when he noticed Jay standing in front of the maknae. His eyes glanced over the glass and Jay’s flustered face, “What happened to you?”
“An asteroid of glass busted above my head,” Jay snapped at Heeseung, shaking his head to rid his hair of as much glass as he could. Heeseung and Niki shielded their eyes for a split second to avoid getting an unfortunate cut in the eye. Sunoo, your Mafia’s medical personnel, would not be happy if they came to him with microscopic cuts in their eyes.
“It’s because you invaded planet privacy again,” Heeseung mumbled, watching Jay furiously brush himself off. Long before you had arrived at the building, Jay had been venting about Yeonjun visiting you last night. Heeseung foretold what might happen, but Jay had ignored him. Jay glared at him.
“No,” he dismissed sharply. “I was attacked by planet Hell, which I’m quite sure is not a sauna like I assumed, but a sphere of wrath that inhabits the office behind me!”
“Whatever,” Heeseung rolled his eyes and handed Jay a yellow file. The second in command yanked the file from Heeseung and casted a curious glance when he realized what the file held. Classified Reports. Heeseung opened the file for Jay and pointed at the first page, “It’s activity signals in the abandoned district. I think our biggest rival just out bid the price of the property and is using the property for things like storage and training.”
“That can’t be,” Jay began slowly, looking at the satellite images of the property with new buildings and huge storage areas. “if that’s the case then our rival would have known about our plans for yesterday’s mission months ahead of time.”
“Jay,” Niki interrupted with a serious look. Jay looked at the youngest, waiting for him to say whatever it was that he wanted to say, “they had already made a deal with our allies’ months ahead and stunned us on purpose last night. It was an ambush.”
Jay turned back to the door of your office, calling over his shoulder at the two still standing there, “Get everyone ready for a meeting.” Then he opened the door, ready to tell you what they had found.
Later in the evening, you and your team were going through camera footage, emails, text messages and any other activity over the last few months. It was to see where the stitch in your deal had been made. If you and your team could pinpoint the time frame, the next step would be to check every other Mafia in this town and their activity around that time. Another clue would be if you found lower men, working under opposing Mafia’s, in your business partners territories. If they dealt in the area your business partner owned, then you would have your attackers. When you made your deal, the contract agreement granted no other business deals with opposing Mafia’s.
Eventually, the clock read close to one o’clock in the morning. All eight of you were exhausted and close to giving up. No progress had been made with how far you had gotten. The last month, March, was approaching your timestamps as you continued to look through videos, traffic cams, files, messages, emails, and any other source you could get your hands on. Everything seemed to be adding up to the attack, but you still couldn’t pinpoint who the culprit had been.
Niki sighed deeply and fell back into his chair, stretching out his stiff limbs. After a moment of readjusting to a different position, he got up and walked over to the refreshments that had been brought in about an hour ago.
“Would you pour me a glass of water, Niki?” Sunoo asked, looking up from the stack of papers he was flipping through and highlighting. Niki didn’t respond right away giving the impression that he wouldn’t fulfill Sunoo’s request, but a second later he was carrying over a glass of water.
“Thank you,” he smiled, lifting the glass to his lips. Jay dramatically sighed and dropped his head onto the table, catching Sunoo off guard. Water slipped over the edge of the glass as it swirled around frantically in Sunoo’s hands; a few wet patches appeared on Sunoo’s shirt afterwards.
You had been watching everyone work for the last few minutes, having no more motivation to go through more possible clues. Jay’s final sigh pushed you to say something to the exhausted boys. “Okay, what do we have so far?”
“Nothing conclusive, but something hints that most of the movement is coming from the south side of the city.” Sunghoon, your deal maker, talked in a slow and soft fashion.
One o’clock in the morning really did take a toll on Sunghoon and made him more reserved than he usually appeared. But four o’clock was the worst for your fighting specialist, Heeseung. He was fighting off the yawns and was on his fourth cup of caffeinated coffee. Niki, your hacker, seemed to be tired as did Jungwon, your specialist in communication. Despite being tired they kept to their work and didn’t falter for even a second. Jake, your high-tech devices expert, was indeed asleep in his spot at the table. It didn’t make much of a difference if he was or not; he had finished his part of investigating and didn’t have anything else to review. Jay was the most frustrated and wouldn’t pause to take a small break, and Sunoo your medical personnel, just continued on, occasionally saying something.
“We need to call it a night.” you said, taking the papers in front of you and stacking them back up into a neat pile before sticking them back into their respectable folders. The others agreed silently. “Just leave the files with me and I’ll take them to my office for safe keeping.”
Quietly, they all handed you their files and took their devices back to their office’s. Jay stayed behind to help you carry some of the files. The two of you walked to the elevator and up to the floor your office was on. Due to the early morning hours and the lack of sleep, very little talk was exchanged while you walked forward and inside your office. Jay set the files down on your desk and looked over some he hadn’t opened.
There were still a few pieces of glass in his hair strands when you returned to his side; you had finished putting the first stack of files in your safe and came to retrieve the last stack. Jay handed you the files and stayed behind to make sure you got everything settled. He was watching you while you closed the safe and gave you a small smile when you turned around. Now you felt a little guilty for being so mad at Jay. It often became obnoxious when he poked into your life, but he usually was just concerned for you.
Jay let you take some pieces of glass out of his hair and put them into the trash; this way they didn’t end up on the floor. Without a word, he pulled you closer to him for a hug. Accepting the hug, your arms came up to wrap around his neck while his secured your waist. Jay dropped his face into the crook of your neck and squeezed you tightly.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled. Your heart softened and you felt guilty for treating him so horribly. Nothing should ever come between you and your second in command. Most Mafia’s put their full trust into their second in command, taking certain warnings without questioning them. With Jay, you had never put your full trust in him to take care of you. That needed to change.
“No, Jay,” you denied the apology and sighed with regret. “I’m sorry. I promise to trust you more and listen to your heart.”
The sweet moment didn’t last long, as he pulled away from you and became slightly embarrassed after acting like a soft teddy bear. You tried to hold your smile back to avoid increasing his embarrassment. Before you could, he changed the subject.
“Can I drive you home since it’s late?” Jay questioned, remembering you had taken a mix between foot and bus transportation to work yesterday morning. Getting home in the dark when you didn’t have a car wasn’t sitting well with him.
“Yes,” you nodded, collecting your things and putting your coat on to shield you from the cold air outside. Your phone was the only thing left for you to grab before you were ready to go. “I don’t want to walk home in the dark, no matter how fast I can kill someone if they tried to attack me.”
“Did you bring your gun with you?”
“Yes, but not a silencer which means I would have to kill them buy hand and I’m too tired to even think about which strategy would be the most effective.”
The both of you walked to the elevators once more with Jay agreeing to your previous statement, “Then you have to get rid of the body so there isn’t any evidence. That would further your walk home and make things difficult. Nobody can do that cleanly when they’re this tired.”
“And this is why you are my second in command,” you smiled, pressing the down arrow to the lobby. The elevator doors opened immediately and then closed after the two of you were inside. Jay pressed the desired floor, the lobby, and both of you patiently waited for the machine to move. Floors five and three’s buttons was glowing, indicating that people on those floors were waiting to get into the elevator.
As the elevator came upon floor number five, the elevator stopped, and the doors opened to reveal a random person who probably worked in sales for the companies overseas. It seemed strange to be working this late if you worked for a company like this. The only floors that were open all night were floors six and eight; the help department and communications office. What was suspicious was the person who got on at the third floor. It was the same type of person. Jay pulled you back carefully, but made it seem like he was being respectful and giving the lady in the elevator some more room.
Just before the elevator passed the second floor, one of the men pressed the stop button and let the elevator come to a complete halt. Jay’s guard went up immediately as did yours. Both men turned around and attacked Jay instantly with guns drawn and fast fists. Jay took each one very carefully and with little effort since their attacking skills were on a lower level. In seconds, they both were unconscious on the floor, and you had both guns in your possession. Without thinking too hard, you pulled both triggers and put a single bullet in both of their heads.
“What in the actual—?” Jay was cut off by the elevator shutting down and the lights going out. The red emergency light at the top of the floor selection was flashing, indicating that someone had trapped the two of you In here. It was a classic attempt; stall the elevator just long enough for someone to get to the next floor and allow them to attack without an issue.
Jay’s phone began ringing and Heeseung’s code name appeared on the screen. Jay pressed the answer button and put him on speaker, all the while you were tying your jacket around your waist and putting your hair up.
Heeseung began speaking, sounding out of breath, “Someone broke into the building and is currently taking over the control room. For now, Dawn (Niki) has shut the camera’s off. Where are you?”
“I’m stuck in the elevator with Twilight, where have you been?”
“I’m getting Fangs (Sunghoon), Dawn (Niki), and Forest (Jungwon). We’re about to take care of the looters and get the building secured. The two of you get to the shack (your apartment) and we’ll report to you when everything is clear. The emergency plan is in full force,” Heeseung spoke quickly while you were glancing around the elevator for the escape latch in the ceiling. The emergency plan was something you had come up with the night Yeonjun had visited you in case a situation like this one occurred.
“Get Dusk (Jake) to clear the second floor and clear us to the stairs.”
  “On it.”
Jay turned on the flashlight built into his phone and shined the light on the ceiling to help find the latch. It was just above his head. Wasting no time, he braced himself and laced his fingers together to create a step for your foot. The two of you made quick work of the latch and got you through the ceiling and into the elevator shaft. Jay climbed on top of the rails people could hold onto within the elevator and jumped to grab onto the edge of the open latch. With your help he climbed through the opening and joined you on top of the elevator.
“Okay, climb up the frames covering the walls to that emergency door. It leads to the second floor.” Jay pointed to where your next objective was and helped you get up the first couple of frames. “When you get to the top, have your gun drawn in case Dusk isn’t there to cover for you.”
Normally you would have told him to stop telling you what to do, but you had decided to trust Jay and let him get you out of the building his way. It was either his way and working with him to get out, your way and waste time fighting for it until you barely missed getting caught or disagreeing to both ideas and end up in the hands of your enemy. Considering you have never been inside the workings of an elevator and had no idea how to get out, you were going to trust Jay. The two of you had taken the guns your attackers brought with them for extra protection.
Without wasting time, you climbed up the frames until you reached the exit door; it was locked. You leaned back and turned your head away as Jay pulled his gun out of his back pocket and shot the lock of the doorknob. It opened fine after that. The metal was slightly hot, but you pushed past the urge to pull back from the heat and opened the door. You pulled yourself up and into the hallway to look down both ends for incoming enemy. Some dead bodies were lying at the ends of the halls. Jake.
“The coast is clear,” you told Jay as he joined you on firm flooring and closed the door behind him. Movement from your left made both of you draw your weapons and aim straight at the danger. Jake –who happened to be the movement—held  his hands up briefly to show that he came with no harm and quickly began making his way over to the two of you. He handed you both hats and face masks to hide your identity.
“You’ll need these when you make a run for the parking garage.” Jake reloaded his gun quickly, then got behind you to cover from the back while Jay took the lead to the stairs.
Thankfully for the three of you, those who broke into your building still thought that you and Jay were trapped in the elevator between floors one and two. That diversion would give you enough time to get down the stairs and out into the parking garage without being cut off. Heeseung was already calling all of your guards to retake the control room and get things back in order.
To your dismay, you would have to relocate your building and office after this mess was settled.
The three of you thundered down the stairs to the base floor where two doors sat. One to your right, and the other to your left; right led to the lobby, and left was the entrance to the parking garage. Left was your friend at this moment. Jake covered you and Jay as you ran to the stairs leading up to the second floor, he followed close behind until you reached your car.
Once both you and Jay were inside the car panting from the use of oxygen and the adrenaline going through your veins, Jake repeated your emergency plan and reached over to quickly do a hand/fist bump with Jay as their way of saying ‘see you later’. Just before Jay drove away, Jake squeezed your hand and gave you a positive smile. Then he ran off toward the stairs to go back to the building. He needed to get back to the others and help them.
Jay was careful not to call attention to your escape car by taking alley ways and streets that didn’t have any CCTV cameras. Just in case the enemy was watching and waiting for a sign that they had drawn you out. It was also very important that your identity, mostly your gender, didn’t get leaked for every Mafia boss in town to know. Even though you were tough and could take someone down in a fight easily, you might not be able to take more than one at a time. If the others knew you were a woman, they might try to take you down together. Your father didn’t give you the family business only for it to be taken away.
Not a word was exchanged between you and Jay as you got out of the parked car and walked into your apartment building. It was so early in the morning that the halls were very quiet, and everyone was asleep. Jay scanned areas and hallways while you focused on getting through your front door. Though your job was to get the two of you inside your apartment, you couldn’t help but also be checking for weird activity. The door opened and both you and Jay slipped inside and locked the door behind you.
“Where’s your computer?” Jay asked, double bolting your door as you made your way over to the blinds to close them. You pointed to your room where it was at your desk charging. Adrenaline replaced the exhaustion you both were feeling, and your mind wandered off as you thought about your team who was working their butts off to take back everything. You wanted to be a part of that.
“Okay!” Jay announced, coming back into the room with your laptop in his arms. “Let’s break into some accounts.”
“Huh?” you became puzzled at his sudden confidence and idea.
He began typing away on your keyboard with a small smirk on his lips. After he didn’t respond to your confusion, you made your way over to the bar in the kitchen and stood next to him. Knowing he wouldn’t repeat himself if you asked, you peered over his shoulder and watched him pull up multiple windows with codes colored green over a black screen. By the way he was smirking at the screen you assumed that he had a good plan and was close to completing it.
“Okay,” he said more to himself, as he straightened up and pulled his phone out to dial someone’s number. To keep your ware abouts secret, his phone location remained off.
When you moved into this apartment, you put up a system firewall around the building so no one could track any important calls that needed handling while you were at home.  Jay looked at you with his smirk plastered on his lips as he raised the phone to his ear, “I caught a look at the attire on one of the dead bodies when we were leaving the building and saw their Mafia insignia on the jacket.”
“You know who attacked us and you’re keeping quiet?!” you complained with a slight smack to his arm. He knew better than to keep you in the dark; the only reason he was doing so was that he thought it would be fun to tease you. Now was not a good time. Your team was in the middle of a fight.
“Sunghoon!” Jay was now urgent. “Get some of our forces over to Mafia Crown’s known buildings right now. They’ll have to pull out their people if we are attacking their area.”
“Put him on speaker!” you demanded, reaching to grab the phone from his hands so you could do the talking; it was your Mafia after all. Jay glared at you for being such a child and put Sunghoon –who remained calm—on speaker.
“But how do you know that it was Mafia Crown? You need to be completely sure before we go walking into a rival’s territory and attacking their space.” Sunghoon sounded unsure of Jay’s plan. “And we’re kind of in the middle of a gun-off with the intruders!”
“One of the attackers had Mafia Crown’s insignia on their attire and I saw it when Dusk, Twilight, and I were escaping the building. You need to attack them right now!”
Meanwhile at the building, Sunghoon was behind a wall, holding a gun in his hand and avoiding any incoming bullets. Heeseung was on the other side with a gun of his own, taking shots two seconds after the enemies’ bullets quit flying. That way he could catch one of the opposing gunmen peeking out to shoot from the other end of the hall and make a perfect headshot. Even though he was busy with flying bullets, he could hear Jay talking through his inner ear mic. As far as he knew, the whole team could hear him.
Just like Jay, Heeseung had seen the insignia on multiple shirts while he was making his way to the control room. Sheet rock went flying right next to Sunghoon, surprising him into leaning further away from the edge of the wall. When Sunghoon looked at Heeseung to check his physical status, he saw that Jake was coming down the hall with two automatic rifles in his arms and some extra pistols strapped to himself. He tossed the rifles to Heeseung who caught them with ease.
Jay’s voice filled Heeseung’s ear, “We need to act as soon as possible. If we don’t then we’ll take the building back and they’ll be guarded.”
Sunghoon took a shot at one of the men who had bravely walked down the hall to shoot Heeseung. He fell in the middle of the center of the ‘T’ shaped hallway and gave the perfect view of Mafia Crown’s insignia. What could they possibly be thinking? Wearing their Mafia insignia in an attack? Heeseung thought dumbly. They’re asking for a counterattack. Heeseung joined the call by pressing his inner earpiece once.
“I can confirm that they are from Mafia Crown. I will personally tell Jungwon to send a group of 100 men if Y/n gives the order.”
Both the hallway and your living room became silent while your team waited for you to give the orders. For the first time in a few weeks, you felt yourself swell with confidence and your mindset changed into attack mode. If someone wanted to play with you and your corporation, then they could bring it on. There was something Mafia Crown didn’t know that you did; Y/n, Mafia boss of Mafia Flicker was back. And she was hungry for revenge.
You took the phone from Jay and held it up to your lips for everyone to hear you clearly. “Take them down.”
With a dangerous look in his eyes, Heeseung cocked the automatic rifle and looked at Jake with a nod. Jake ran off in the direction he had come to relay your orders. Sunghoon caught the rifle Heeseung tossed him and cocked it quickly, waiting for the signal. Heeseung pressed his earpiece to talk to Jungwon directly.
“Jungwon. Give Mafia Crown a visual of hell.”
Sunghoon received the signal, and both he and Heeseung stepped out from behind the wall. They rained anyone who dared to show their face with a heavy downpour of bullets and made sure they got to the control room before any secrets got out.
Back at your apartment, Jay was on the phone with Jungwon. Everyone had loaded into vans and armed themselves from their feet to their necks. Niki managed to barely break past Mafia Crown’s firewall long enough for Jungwon to get the addresses for two of the storage buildings and one of their main buildings. Unlike storming a building and trying to take it over, you were going to burn their two storage buildings and destroy one of their main buildings with explosives. Heeseung said give them a visual of hell, and that’s exactly what you were going to do.
“Send about twenty men to create a distraction at the main entrance when you get to the storage buildings. That way you can get into the storage buildings and set the floors on fire without anyone giving you any trouble.” Jay was looking over blueprints that Niki had sent to your computer as he talked with Jungwon, “You shouldn’t have a problem with the main building. At night everyone goes home and locks it up. Niki will disarm the security system long enough for you to get in and out.”
“Hey Jungwon,” you called his name from where you were sitting, waiting for Heeseung to call you and tell you that the building was back in your possession. “Make sure to fill those storage buildings to the top with explosives and most importantly don’t let them know who you are. However, when you get to the main building, leave a little mark so they know who their messing with.”
“Will do,” he confirmed the command.
“I’ll talk to you later.” Jay ended the call.
About twenty minutes later, Jungwon was standing in front of the main building that was now filled with explosives. With a bottle of black spray paint in his hands, he used a stencil of your Mafia insignia and set it down on the concrete right in front of the building. It gave him a thrill to permanently mark the concrete beneath him. It would forever be in Mafia Crown’s territory serving as a clear reminder to never again try to mess with you. It was then that Jungwon realized how much power an insignia held. He didn’t blame those who attacked you for wearing their label. In fact, Jungwon wanted your insignia on a jacket of his own. You would never permit it, but he could dream.
“Load up,” Jungwon spoke into the walkie talkie. “It’s time to blow these babies up.”
It didn’t take long for everyone to get into their designated vans and get as far away from the building as possible. Jungwon was watching out the back window with the explosive button in his hand; his thumb hovered dangerously above the button suspending the vans in silence. No one knew when Jungwon would press the trigger. Jungwon tilted his head to his right and raised his eyebrow with a smirk forming on his lips. Suddenly, the windows in the building shattered as the structure lit up in an orange haze. Jungwon’s thumb lifted off the button and he turned around to walk to the front of his van.
   Blow them up.
After receiving Jungwon’s message, the men at the storage units got into their vans and drove away at a high speed from the dangerous areas. Instantly, all three resources were engulfed with unending flames. Even if Mafia Crown called all the fire trucks in the city to put out the flames, they wouldn’t be able to save anything inside them.
Yeonjun got the call from Soobin ten minutes after the buildings had gone up in flames. His hopes of taking down Mafia Flicker had to be put on hold because someone had just attacked him. It was most likely another Mafia in the city who took the chance to strike him while he was otherwise occupied. They would have to pay for picking their timing. It was supposed to be a perfect night with a victory Yeonjun could call for years to come. With Mafia Flicker—his biggest threat—out of the way, nothing could stop him from becoming the most powerful empire in the country.
“Did you catch anyone at the scene?” Yeonjun was angry as he spoke to Soobin over the phone. Slamming the door to his Aston Martin, Yeonjun turned the engine on and pulled out of his six-car garage. He had been at home when Soobin called him. “Absolutely none?! No, don’t do anything. We’ll talk when I get to headquarters.”
It was almost three o’clock in the morning. Unfortunately for Soobin, it didn’t take Yeonjun very long to get to headquarters. He couldn’t blame his boss. If it had been his buildings that had gone up in flames, he wouldn’t take his time on getting to the office either. Soobin knew who had done the damage. In his mind he couldn’t understand how they had done it despite of everything that was happening. Yeonjun wouldn’t be happy when he found out who it was. Hueningkai volunteered to tell him instead of Soobin in hopes of pulling some of the weight off the second in command (Soobin).
“What happened?” Yeonjun yelled storming into his office to see his team standing there quietly. Soobin stepped forward and handed Yeonjun a file with pictures and activity in the last hour. There was absolutely no trace of someone left behind and it had been done in minutes.
“They were in and out like butter,” Taehyun, Yeonjun’s hacker, spoke up confidently. Yeonjun stood up from his chair and placed the pictures on his desk to look at them better. Taehyun continued, “They broke past the firewall long enough to get the addresses to each building. Our men said there was a small explosion near the front gate of the storage yard and went over to check it out. That’s how they filled both storage units with explosives without getting caught.”
The Mafia boss was staring at all of them as if they were idiots. “Am I running a circus for morons? How could every single guard go to the front gate and leave two of our most vital storage units open for attack?!”
“That’s not all they burned,” Beomgyu, the mission specialist, stepped up to Yeonjun’s desk with his file that had images regarding one of the main buildings. “Asset Five was also taken.”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Yeonjun inhaled deeply to keep from yelling at all four of them. Ironically, it wasn’t their fault because they were focused on monitoring tonight’s attack. Whoever had decided to raid him at this hour was watching him closely. To be honest with himself, he tipped his hat to the attackers for being sharp. Most Mafia’s probably knew that this was his first move against Mafia Flicker and used that to their advantage.
“Despite no one getting caught,” Hueningkai was the last one to present his file to Yeonjun. Yeonjun reluctantly took the file from him. He didn’t want to know about anything else that happened in the attack. He was already embarrassed about not protecting himself. Hueningkai pointed out a mark in one of the pictures, “They left something behind.”
Yeonjun’s eyes looked over the mark on the concrete in front of Asset Five. Words underneath it added fuel to the flames burning inside of him. The words made his jaw tighten in anger; not only had they set fire to his buildings, but they were stirring a dragon inside of him. When Yeonjun looked up he noticed that Taehyun and Beomgyu were curious about the writing.
“Your match can’t beat my torch.” Yeonjun read aloud for everyone to hear. Mafia Flicker’s insignia was underneath the words, stunning Yeonjun. He finished reading aloud what was in the picture, “Mafia Flicker.” Mafia Crown had underestimated you and your power. It had taken them months to turn your plans against you so they could take down one of your buildings.
“Another thing,” Soobin said, preparing for Yeonjun’s anger. “The mission failed.”
The boys watched Yeonjun rake his fingers through his hair in disbelief. He turned away from them and walked to his window which looked over the city. He could see Mafia Flicker’s territory from where he was standing. Now he knew not to attack you so lightly. This is why none of the other Mafia’s in the city bothered to take anything from you. They let you rule the city without complaining. Yeonjun had heard about some of the things you had done when someone tried to mess with you and your team, but he never believed any of it. Now he had no reason not to.
Beomgyu cut in just before Yeonjun exploded, “But we hit the right building. Twilight was in the building when we attacked.”
“My rival?” Yeonjun questioned seriously, wanting to know if he had gotten close to eliminating you.
There was only one thing Yeonjun didn’t know. Mafia Flicker’s boss was the girl he was head over heels in love with; he had no idea he was looking for a female and not a male. It would be easy to kidnap someone from your circle and torcher them into telling him who you were. However, others who had worked with Mafia Flicker before warned strongly against it. Yeonjun recalled someone telling him they had tried to kill the second in command. The next day Mafia Flicker killed every guard in one of the training camps and burned the entire site to the ground.
The words from one of his allies were ringing in his head as he stared at your territory across the city. Not a single word you can think of will justify the horror that is Mafia Flicker.
“Yeonjun.” Soobin brought Yeonjun back to reality and turned his attention back to his team. They were waiting patiently to continue their report. Soobin, who seemed concerned, continued, “Beomgyu has some more information.”
Filled with a sense of hopelessness, Yeonjun returned to the chair at his desk and looked at Beomgyu who finished speaking. “Mafia Flicker’s second in command got into the elevator with someone. Later they were sighted together in the parking garage getting into the car.”
“Dang it!” Yeonjun growled. He slammed his hand down on his desk and mulled over the news. No one had ever seen you before, which fueled his desire to see your face. To be able to say that he had seen your face and have the ability to spot you anywhere in the city would be a huge advantage.
Everything wasn’t going according to his plans, and that frustrated him. Suddenly, Yeonjun got an idea. If you wanted to play a dangerous game with him, then he would play. He turned to Soobin and gave his orders, “I want a meeting with the second in command in an hour.”
Back at your apartment, Sunghoon, Niki, Jake, and Sunoo were sitting with you in your living room. Heeseung and Jungwon were joined together in a call as you went over the details regarding the attack made on you, and your counterattack. Heeseung was holding down the fort back at headquarters and Jungwon was laying low in one of your warehouses until things calmed down. If he had returned the vans to their storage buildings, then Mafia Crown could have acted quickly.
  “How much did we lose?”
“Nothing,” Heeseung answered. “Niki locked everything down when he realized we were under attack. At that point, Mafia Crown hadn’t reached the control room.”
You reached around Sunoo and squeezed Niki’s shoulder to let him know you were proud of him. At such a young age, he was unstoppable when it came to his skills. He could break any of the Mafia’s firewall without them knowing for over an hour. However, there was no need to unless you gave him the command. It hadn’t occurred to you until after you had been attacked that Niki could have hacked into any of the Mafia’s activities over the last few months. Only when he reached your apartment did he tell you the truth. Niki had broken into every Mafia’s database to find out who had turned your deal against you. Mafia Crown.
“I counted every van when they reached the warehouse and we didn’t lose anyone.”
Jungwon’s words were comforting to you; everyone had made it out alive. All of the boys sighed in relief, except for Sunghoon who was staring at the screen of his phone. Jake was sitting next to Sunghoon when he noticed the change in his friend’s aura. When he looked at the screen, he understood Sunghoon’s mood. Jake looked at everyone else to bring the attention to the ID caller on Sunghoon’s phone.
“Hang on Heeseung, Jake needs to say something,” Sunoo halted Heeseung from going on to the next topic. Everyone became quiet and gave Jake their full attention. Sunghoon blinked before answering the call he was receiving. He lifted the device to his ear and answered.
  “Soobin.”
“Sunghoon,” Soobin retorted calmly. The whole circle of Mafia Crown was sitting in Yeonjun’s office listening to the call he was making. It was likewise for the immediate circle of Mafia Flicker.
“I have a deal offer for you.”
Sunghoon scoffed to himself and stood up from the couch to walk around. This was something Sunghoon always did when he was on an important business call with another Mafia. He did keep the call on speaker for you to hear, “Mafia Flicker is not interested in any deal you have to offer.”
“Then I’ll have to remind you of the Mafia code,” Soobin reasoned. You looked at Sunghoon calmly, knowing exactly where Soobin was heading. It wasn’t going to work like the way he wanted. “Performing a counterattack during an attack is against fair rules. We want to settle an Agreement Meeting right now.”
“What are your terms?” Sunghoon asked. The room waited for Soobin to list his terms. A knife could slice the tension in the room straight in half without any effort needed. Then he spoke.
“A private meeting with the second in command.”
Instantly, Jay looked at you and back to Sunghoon with surprise. He had not been expecting his title to be one of their terms. You bit down on your lip in thought. There was no way you were sending Jay into the hands of another Mafia who had clear plans to kill him. It was a classic play. Mafia Flicker took something away, therefore Mafia Crown wants something in return. It seemed hopeless until the perfect solution popped into your head.
Sunghoon suddenly muted Soobin when he saw you signaling him. Everyone turned their attention to you, wondering what you had up your sleeve. It wasn’t against the rules to pull a counterattack if the Mafia you were striking had previously broken a rule. It was against code to interfere within a contract made between to partners. If Niki hadn’t hacked into each database to find the Mafia who had broken that code, then you would have been in trouble. However, this could save you.
“Breach of contract between a Mafia and a business partner is against the code. They broke it first which makes our attack binding to the code.” you told Sunghoon with a low voice. This had happened to your father once. He had been in Mafia Crowns position and had no other choice but to follow code and meet with the opposing Mafia.
Jay smirked at your sharpness and ushered for Sunghoon to continue with the call. Soobin was unmuted.
“Your request for an Agreement Meeting isn’t valid if the opposing Mafia has breached a contract regarding a business deal that doesn’t involve them.” Sunghoon waited patiently for Soobin to speak. When the line stayed silent for a few seconds, he knew you had caught them by their tongues. Yeonjun was furious on the other side of the line.
“Now that you’ve presented the idea,” Sunghoon began, relaying your wishes to meet with them. During the meeting, you could settle an agreement between each other, or you could kill the boss of Mafia Crown for breaking code. Sunghoon continued, “we want an Agreement Meeting.”
Now it was time for Soobin to mute Sunghoon to see what Yeonjun had to say. Yeonjun was sitting at his desk with his jaw clenched in anger. How did you figure out that he had been the one who turned your business partner against you? Everything had been deleted and all the meetings had been held privately with Yeonjun to avoid your suspicion. There was no possible way that you had found anything worth accusing him. Yeonjun was certain that you were taking a wild guess.
“I’ve got something,” Taehyun announced after he finished typing frantically on his computer. “They broke into our database around the same time they broke through our firewall and accessed evidence of you meeting with their supposed partner. We’re in a bind and you have to say yes to the Agreement Meeting.”
Yeonjun picked up one of his pens and threw it at the wall across from him in rage. You were too good. Everything was falling to pieces. He hadn’t played his cards well and it was very obvious. You were probably laughing at him from where you were sitting.
“Fine,” Yeonjun growled. “I agree. Name the terms.”
Soobin unmuted the call, “Very well. What are your terms?”
While Yeonjun had been in a rage, you and your team had already planned out everything. You wanted to meet them at Grenville Park in the abandoned sector. There you would state your terms. It was tradition for both Mafia’s to make an appearance to the meeting. It was a small issue that you could solve with a face cover and clothing covering every inch of you. You would take Jay, Heeseung, Jake, and Sunghoon with you and keep Jungwon, Sunoo, and Niki at your apartment to track any issues.
“Meet us at Grenville Park in forty-five minutes. Don’t be late.”
About forty minutes later, the five of you were sitting in one of the vans you owned at one end of the park. It was your idea to be ten minutes early to scope out the area. You planned to send Jay and Heeseung first to make sure everything was safe. Then you would join them with Jake and Sunghoon, your weapon for protection, and a face covering. Fortunately for you, the park was empty and so were the areas surrounding it.
Mafia Crown arrived on time with their own vehicle. By tradition, the Mafia who requested the Agreement Meeting had to walk to the middle of the meeting location and wait for the opposing Mafia to reach them. When Mafia Crown’s van approached the park, Jay and Heeseung got out of the van and walked to the center of the park. They stood tall with their heads held high as Soobin and Beomgyu joined them.
“You call your boss first,” Jay told Soobin, following the traditional rules down to a tee. “Then our boss will join.” Both Soobin and Beomgyu didn’t move for a slight second, sending your team into defense mode.
Then Soobin reached up to his inner earpiece, “Send King.”
King? Jay asked himself incredulously. What kind of code name is that? Jake and Sunghoon seemed to be thinking the same thing. Jay and Heeseung remained expressionless as Mafia Crown’s boss exited their van and made his way to the group. Hueningkai and Taehyun were accompanying Yeonjun to the center of the park, blocking him from any potential attacks. To be fair, he couldn’t trust you at all.
Jay’s eyes narrowed on the Mafia Crown boss as he neared them. He could not believe his eyes. Choi Yeonjun. The one who had been in your apartment and lied straight to your face was standing in front of him. Everything inside of Jay wanted to rip him to pieces.
“Park Jay,” Yeonjun mumbled, looking at the one he asked to keep you safe while he was away. “I thought you died in a car accident?” So, this is who Jay was now. Yeonjun couldn’t believe that Jay faked his death to avoid lying to you for the rest of your life.
“Actually, it was a bus collision. You should’ve read the news report closer.”
“And you called me a scum for lying.”
“Don’t use me to justify yourself.” Jay snapped, growing close to drawing his gun on the Mafia boss. Yeonjun glared at Jay for being so defensive.
  “Does she know?”
Heeseung was just as surprised that Yeonjun was standing in front of them, but his biggest concern was you. You still didn’t know that Yeonjun was Mafia Crown’s boss and Jay was only stirring things up. Heeseung placed a hand on Jay’s shoulder when he stepped forward to threaten Yeonjun, “Don’t. Get them out here.”
Jay clenched his jaw not wanting to call you out of the van. There was no telling how you would react when you saw Yeonjun. Reluctantly, Jay lifted his hand to his inner earpiece, “We’re ready for Twilight.”
Inside his chest Yeonjun could feel the excitement building. This would be the first time he would ever see the figure of Mafia Flicker’s boss. He was picturing every possible way you would look. If you were big and tough? If you were his size or smaller than everyone here? Another thing he wanted was to hear your voice. Most of all he wanted to see your face, but he doubted that you would let him see that. Before he could get ahead of himself, Yeonjun was interrupted by the door to your van opening and three figures stepping out.
The air was cold as you stepped out of the van. Jake and Sunghoon got out behind you and closed the doors shut. When you looked over where Jay and Heeseung stood with Mafia Crown, you halted in your steps and grabbed a hold of Jake’s arm to stop him. Both Sunghoon and Jake paused briefly to make sure you were okay.
“Jay…” you began cautiously, looking at the one person you never thought you would see. “Please don’t tell me that is—"
“Confirmed.” Jay’s voice rang in your ear, making your heart pound.
Uncertainty filled you as the three of you walked closer to the group in the center of the park. But as you got closer you could see him clearly. Yeonjun was smirking with a prideful look in his eyes. At that second, it became clear to you that this wasn’t the Yeonjun you knew. It was a monster who was looking to eat you. He couldn’t see your expressions; but you could see his. Anger began to build up inside of you as you grew closer to him. How could he lie to you about something like this? It had been his idea from the beginning. Is this the reason he left you? Were you the ‘something he needed to fix’?
Jay watched you step between him and Heeseung with your head held high and no sign of being affected whatsoever. The group waited with silence for you to speak. But that’s exactly what you weren’t going to do. Everyone watched you raise your hand and motion for Jay. Responding to your call, Jay pressed his ear to your lips and let you tell him what you wanted said.
“There are two things we want,” Jay started. “All of your closest allies, and half of your stock.”
“No deal.” Yeonjun shot down the requests immediately. He wasn’t stupid enough to give any of his close ties and give you half of his stock in the process. You would have to kill him to take those.
“You know the rules,” Sunghoon butted into the conversation. “you agree to what we want, or you are stripped of your Mafia rule.”
“Or…” Yeonjun began, tilting his head to his side slightly. He lifted his eyes to the sky as if he was thinking on a compromise. Suddenly, he pulled his gun out, aiming straight at you. The rest of your team responded followed by all of Mafia Crown. Everyone had their guns aimed at someone, except for you.
You put your hand up to tell your team to put their guns away. They hesitated for half a second before deciding to trust you. Jay and the boys put their guns away and went back to how they were a second ago. Mafia Crown remained the same with their guns held high.
“I will shoot,” Yeonjun was looking directly at you, “if you don’t show your face to me.”
Jay was utterly confused as to what your plan was. More importantly, he wanted to know how you were going to execute it. The others, Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Jake kept silent, but they wondered too what was going to happen. It was unlike you to cave into a threat, especially made by someone close to you. All of Mafia Flicker knew you and Yeonjun had a relationship. Mafia Crown, however, didn’t.
It was a brave threat to make, but you would be able to get out of it with the snap of your fingers. When you recalled all the times you were with Yeonjun, you remembered that he had been the one to come see you; he always was the first to come find you. Clearly, he felt something strong for you if he kept coming back. His feelings would prevent him from shooting you, and in the end, he would let you leave without a single scratch. It was time.
“You won’t shoot me,” you finally spoke. Yeonjun panicked slightly when he heard sound come out of your mouth. It was muffled, blocking him from hearing the tone of it. It wasn’t what he wanted. You watched him cock his pistol and grip the base of the gun tighter.
  “And why not?”
“Because you won’t let your team shoot me,” you stated. Mafia Flicker froze when you drew your gun from your side and aimed it at Yeonjun before using your free hand to pull off your face covering. Yeonjun’s expression changed; the arm holding his gun faltered at the sight of you. After a slight pause, you handed your mask to Jay and continued, “And you don’t have the guts.”
To Mafia Crown everything was confusing. Unlike you telling your team about your relationship, Yeonjun hadn’t told any of his team. Not even Soobin. Either he doesn’t trust his team, or he wanted to keep you safe. To you, trusting your team was the most important thing when running a Mafia. Yeonjun lowered his weapon in defeat knowing he would never shoot you. Mafia Crown followed suit. Everyone became completely still, wondering what either of you would do.
“You burned my buildings?” Yeonjun suddenly asked with disbelief and annoyance laced in his tone. There was the Yeonjun you knew by your heart.
“You attempted to kill me and my team?” you retorted in the same tone, not letting him stump you while you were on the job. “This is the Mafia, Yeonjun. Don’t start games that you don’t know how to play. ”
“You lied to me.” Change of subject.
A shock went through your chest at the words that had just escaped his mouth. He was pulling the victim card on you to make you look like the bad guy. It was appalling to you. How could he stand there in front of you and everyone else all the while calling you the liar? Did he not contribute as much or more to the lying as you? Anger filled your body at the audacity of his desire for pity.
“Likewise,” you stepped up and got in his face, fearing nothing.
Yeonjun’s team pointed their guns straight at you with intent of taking a shot. The sudden appearance of Yeonjun’s hand told them to hold their fire. He wanted to see what you had up your sleeve. A small spark of humor was starting to form in his stomach at the thought of you being the feared boss of Mafia Flicker. Both you and Yeonjun glared into each other’s eyes, holding hate for one another. You lowered your tone so only he could hear you.
“Let me remind you of all the times you asked for a future with me. I told you it wouldn’t work, but you insisted.”
When you turned away and faced your team, Yeonjun spoke, “I made those promises to a beautiful girl, not to the two-faced witch in front of me.”
Heeseung and Jay widened their eyes in surprise when your hand with your gun came back in a strong swing slamming into the right side of Yeonjun’s face. The impact knocked him off his feet for a few brief seconds. Yeonjun touched his now bleeding cheek with his fingers, glancing up at you to see a fire in your eyes he had never seen before. This was the feared Mafia boss everyone talked about. If looks could kill, Yeonjun would be dead already and the park would be up in flames.
“First rule to be a true Mafia, Yeonjun,” you began grating every word for him. “you own up to your mistakes, and never result to cowardness. Learn to not be a coward.”
With your final word said, you turned back to your team and began walking back to the van. Jake protectively stepped behind you to shield you from Mafia Crown, but most importantly, Yeonjun. Never ever had you imagined hitting Yeonjun or walking away from him with rage strong enough to shoot him. Sunghoon glanced at the party in the center of the park, then closed the van door once you were inside.
Jay suddenly spoke, “If I ever catch you at her apartment again, I won’t hesitate to shoot you. Keep in mind you told me to protect her and I will do exactly that.”
“Jay.” Heeseung said sternly, telling the second in command to follow him back to the van. Jay went along with Heeseung, leaving Mafia Crown in the middle of Grenville Park.
Jay got into the back of the van with Heeseung while Sunghoon drove the five of you back to your apartment. When he got inside the van, Jake was sitting next to you doing his best to console you from your tears. Neither Jake nor Sunghoon said a word when you silently began crying. They didn’t understand your relationship with Yeonjun enough to say anything or take action. But Jay did. He understood completely as to why you were crying and how brave you had been standing up to Yeonjun.
“Come here,” Jay murmured when he got into the van. Jake moved away from you and let Jay take his spot. Not only was Jay your second in command and the person you trusted the most, but he was your best friend; he was the shoulder you could cry on. He took that role when your parents died.
“I’m sorry.” you cried softly, letting Jay hold you in his arms for the time being. Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Jake were shocked at your tears and didn’t know what more they could do for you. Instead of telling you not to be sorry, Jay just squeezed you tighter hoping that would give a sign that you were very much loved, and no one here blamed you for Yeonjun.
  “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you.”
“Aish,” Jay hushed you from speaking. This was not the time to be telling him he won your argument from early. It made him feel bad rather than good, “Don’t you dare apologize to me.”
“Thank you for your hard work.” you told both Heeseung and Jake fifteen minutes later, right before they got out of the van to enter the main building. Both of them squeezed your hand in response with sincerity glowing in their eyes.
Sunghoon drove the three of you to your apartment building where the three of you settled back into your now empty living room. Sunoo, Jungwon, and Niki had left to get some rest when they heard the meeting hadn’t gone smoothly. For now, it was time to sleep. Sunghoon and Jay agreed to switch shifts on guarding the apartment while you took the time to recharge.
“Sunghoon will be in the guest bedroom and I’ll be in the living room if you need anything,” Jay reassured after you returned from a warm shower. At this point, it was hard to get completely under your covers without falling asleep instantly. Right as your head sunk into your pillow, you were out cold.
On the horizon, dawn was breaking with the prettiest sunrise Jay had seen in a long time. Normal people would be having a hot cup of coffee at this hour, but he didn’t have any interest in that. Plus, if he was going to drink coffee, he wanted it to be iced. Something inside him wanted to move you to a different apartment despite how nice your current one was. It would be hard to relocate you somewhere Yeonjun couldn’t find. The idea wouldn’t last; you would never move apartments and Yeonjun would be able to spot you anywhere in the city without an issue.
Why did you have to reveal yourself? Jay helplessly thought to himself.
Things were about to get a whole lot harder. Yeonjun could decide to give all the Mafias in the city a picture of you, then Mafia Flicker might face a lot more fights. That didn’t matter to Jay. He would protect you by giving his life when the time came. No one would hurt you; you were a part of his family, and family sticks together through the thick and thin. Heeseung often told Jay he was too much like an older brother with you.
A small smile broke across Jay’s face at the thought. The statement was true to some degree. The two of you had been friends since your first year of high school. Jay was there when you met Yeonjun, and he was there to listen to you talk so fondly of your new love interest. In the end, Jay didn’t mind whether or not you loved Yeonjun or hated him. What he really minded were Yeonjun’s intentions and how he was going to execute them. Jay may not be your biological brother, but he believed he acted just like one.
For Yeonjun, things were rocky. All of his plans, his work, detection and effort, everything he thought he was and believed, smashed into pieces. How would his mind ever come to understand that you, the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, was in fact the person he hated for years leading up to only a few hours ago? Yeonjun couldn't place his emotions where they needed to be and that frustrated him.
The room was dark, emitted only by the moonlight and the surrounding city lights. Yeonjun sat in his favorite chair with an object special to him. It was the diamond ring he'd had since he turned eighteen. It sparkled up at him mockingly, reminding him of just how impossible things were now and that he might not ever get to be happy.
Why did you have to show your face? Yeonjun asked himself, picturing you in front of him at the park, holding him at gun point.
"I figured I'd find you here," came a soft male voice from the entrance to Yeonjun's living room. Yeonjun couldn't look at him straight in the eyes; to be fair he'd lied about something very serious. "Taehyun said you might be at the office, but I knew you wouldn't show your face there. Not after everything that's happened."
"I'm sorry I left you in the dark," was all Yeonjun said. Soobin felt betrayed in a way but also had a level of understanding. This job was dangerous. Soobin would've done the exact same thing if he had someone he loved greatly. It's better to leave everyone in the dark to cast a blanket of protection. But what Soobin didn't understand was just how deep Yeonjun's feelings were for you and how long they'd been alive.
"There's nothing you can do to change the past," Soobin sat down across from him. "But now that the cats out of the bag, care to enlighten me on just exactly how long this has been going on for?"
Yeonjun put the ring back in its midnight blue velvet box and shut it closed, softly flipping over between his hands as he thought. It was hard to explain to Soobin just exactly how long things had been going on and at what point in his life. You had always been a part of his life. He supposed since he's been secretly seeing you, a couple of years now.
"A long while," Yeonjun finally looked into his second in command's eyes. "I've loved her for so long I can't tell you how long. I've been seeing her for the last few years in secret."
"How did you not know it was her?"
"I never asked or pried any answers out of her since she did the same for me. I should've known better, but my love for her blinded any possible reason that she could be the enemy. I've known her for even longer before all of this so naturally my mind never drifted to this profession." Yeonjun dropped his face in between his hands out of exhaustion. His mind had been working on overdrive since the meeting.
"I'm surprised with how much her team knew about you that they didn't find out who you were, or even try to stop you. She's proven countless times as a force not to be reckoned with. And you know the second in command as well. I guess what I'm getting at is, why didn't you at least confide in one of us much less all of us?"
"To be honest with you, I don't even know myself." Yeonjun sighed, setting the velvet box down on the table next to him, still mulling over the ring.
"Well, looks like right now your only other options are to either marry her or kill her," Soobin reasoned, leaning forward until his elbows rested on the tops of his knees. "But one thing is for certain, you need to think of yourself and the team as well as the network. I don't want to see you fall further than you already have. I know you're better than that."
The second in command got up from his seat and exited the room, leaving Yeonjun to decide what his next move was going to be.
A week later, things were still thrown up in the tense air. The very next day after the meeting with Mafia Crown, you and your team changed your main building. For six hours during the night you moved everything from the old building to the new one. Heeseung suggested one of your buildings deeper into your sector to prevent another attack. It took a lot of work to move file cabinets and furniture, but Niki took care of transferring all the data from one building to the other without any difficulty. Besides moving, the building didn’t feel as homey as the last one. With time that would change, but the impact of recent events called for some comfort and the building didn’t provide that.
As for you, it was time for you to move out of your apartment and relocate.
Right now, you were finishing the last bit of your home that needed packing. Jay was on the other side of the living room, marking the boxes and taping them closed. Ever since the meeting, Jay remained at your side for emotional support. Despite being the strongest power in the Mafia, it was hard for you to move on from Yeonjun. It was hard to realize that he was the enemy and not the same boy you fell in love with during your teenage years.
“What time is it?” Jay suddenly asked, popping off the cap to the sharpie in his hand so he could write the word books on the box you had finished ten minutes ago.
  “Nearly 2:30 A.M.”
As if on cue a knock sounded at your front door. A strong chill ran up your spine at the sound and you looked at Jay with alert. He remained calm as he stood from his spot on the floor to answer the door. Just in case, you pulled the gun from your coffee table to cover Jay while he checked to see who was knocking. With his hand on his gun, Jay opened the door slightly.
“I thought I made myself clear?” Jay sneered from his side of the door.
“Let her decide whether I will leave or not. If she doesn’t want me here, then I will leave and neither of you will see my face again.”
The sound of Yeonjun’s voice made your heart pound. It sounded slightly desperate. Jay peeked behind his shoulder and noticed you by the wall leading to your living room. His eyes spoke to you with a small plea. He wanted you to say no. To Jay’s dismay you sighed deeply and nodded your head to let Yeonjun inside. Yeonjun was relieved when Jay opened the door just enough for him to enter. As soon as Yeonjun entered the entrance hall your eyes locked
“Jay, wait outside.” you told him. Jay was about to protest just as you added, “That’s an order.”
Being respectful of your authority, Jay left the apartment like you told him. However, the death glare given to Yeonjun didn’t go unnoticed by either of you. Once the door was closed the apartment became quiet. The two of you gazed at each other from your spots in the entrance hall without a word to say.
Yeonjun inhaled deeply, “We need to talk.”
“About what?” you asked with a small bit of sass tied into your voice. Yeonjun raised his eyebrows at you and approached you with confidence, something you didn’t think he would have after you revealed your identity to him.
“About what?” he repeated your words incredulously. He scoffed slightly and glanced away for a moment to regain his composure, “Um, how about we start with your lies?”
Now it was your turn to be stunned, “Oh, my lies?”
Yeonjun straightened up and held up his extended fingers. Starting with his thumb, he began counting, “First, you lied to me with your own tears about Jay dying. Second, you lied to me about your inheritance. The third one doesn’t surprise me, but you lied to me about your life, and finally, you lied about wanting a future with me. Don’t even get me started on how you played me like I was putty in your hands!”
With rage filling you, you grabbed the collar of his shirt with your fist to try and win dominance while you retaliated, but Yeonjun grabbed your wrist and released himself of your grip. With your other hand, you pointed viciously at him, “For your information, I cried my eyes out to protect him and it is not my fault that you are a fool for believing the lie. I didn’t lie about my inheritance. Dang right I lied about my life and if you were stronger than putty maybe you would’ve held your own shape!”
Yeonjun grabbed your shoulders and slammed you into the wall, holding you still. His eyes burned fire into yours with his jaw clenched tightly. Inside your chest you could feel your heart quickening from the sudden attack.
“You may be good with mind games, but you’ll never be strong enough to fight me physically.”
You pressed the eye of your gun into his stomach without breaking eye contact, “You and I both know that having physical strength won’t work if you don’t have a brilliant mind to execute it.” Suddenly, you froze at the feeling of Yeonjun’s hands wrapping around your hand, forcing the gun deeper into his stomach.
“Then use your will to shoot me,” his voice came out hard, almost in a demand. Yeonjun leaned down to your ear, “Or do you not have the guts?” Your own words came barreling back at you with a sharp sting.
The cool touch of metal against your forehead brought you back to your senses. Yeonjun stood with one hand holding his own gun against your head and the other one still forcing your gun into his stomach. You couldn’t pull away from his grip even if you tried which kept you still. He had you trapped. There was only one way out of this.
“Either you shoot me and become the strongest Mafia, or you surrender defeat to me.”
Everything inside you wanted to tell him to cut the crap and get out of your apartment, but you were genuinely in a bind. A Mafia boss never backs down to a challenge, no matter who proposed it. Something you realized was that Yeonjun couldn’t shoot you, but you couldn’t shoot him either. You would rather shoot yourself before you ever thought about killing him. Was Yeonjun worth your position, your team, and your integrity? What about Jay? You loved Jay, but you were in love with Yeonjun.
Yeonjun felt the gun pull back and the sound of metal thump against the floor. You had dropped the gun to your feet, admitting defeat. You closed your eyes shut and waited for him to pull the trigger on you; the only way for him to win and permanently get rid of you. If Jay could see you right now, he would be ashamed. What you didn’t know is that Yeonjun was completely surprised by your actions, but even more than surprised, he was overwhelmed with emotions. Dropping your gun meant you loved him more than your integrity, position, and power.
For the first time in a long time, your life depended on someone else’s decision. In this moment Yeonjun could end your life and no one, not even Jay, could stop him from changing everything. After a few seconds, you reached up and gathered Yeonjun’s clothing into your fists. You squeezed your eyes shut and thumped your head back against the wall.
  “Just do it quickly.”
Yeonjun tossed his gun onto the ground and cupped your jaw in his hands. His lips pressed against yours strongly in a kiss. Almost in a hurry, he moved his hands to your waist and pulled you against him as if he thought you would disappear or reject him. But you kissed him back, tears streaming down your cheeks from the emotions flooding your entire body. His hair felt soft in your hands as you ran your fingers through it. Only when you physically couldn’t breathe did Yeonjun pull away.
“I was talking about killing me,” you remarked, fluttering your eyes open to see Yeonjun staring deeply into your eyes.
“You didn’t specify.” he answered, capturing your lips with his once more. The two of you kissed for a few more seconds before he pulled away suddenly, “Compromise with me.”
“Compromise?” you mumbled, furrowing your eyebrows slightly at the word.
“Marry me, and we can join our Mafia’s,” he began, turning your head into a spinning clock of confusion. “We can combine our forces and I can have you as my forever and always.”
The idea concerned you, “I don’t know Yeonjun…” you trailed off worriedly.
Yeonjun kissed your lips firmly, “I won’t stop until you say yes.”
Then, he began to kiss up your jaw, and to your ticklish discomfort, your ear and finally your neck which was even more ticklish. It was pure agony because he had his arms wrapped around your waist, preventing you from escaping his lips. He deliberately made the kisses as ticklish and light as he could to try and persuade you into agreeing with him. Chills erupted across your arms and back at the feeling.
“I won’t say yes, but I won’t say no either.” That got him to stop. He lifted his head from the crook of your neck and pulled you even closer to him.
  “Then what are your conditions?”
“An apology and a promise.” Yeonjun pressed another kiss to your lips, as if to urge you to continue. “I want you to apologize for the words you said to me the other day, and that you will do everything in your power to respect the way I run things if we join together.”
Without hesitation, Yeonjun agreed, “Done. Forget an apology. I will spend the rest of my life making up for those lies I said about you.”
A smile appeared on your lips at the response. Yeonjun released you from his grip and pulled you further into your apartment and into the kitchen where he pressed you up against the refrigerator and kissed you once more. It was dark in the kitchen with a dim light coming from the living room.
“I wanted to do this the night you came home from the club, but it wasn’t the right time.” Yeonjun kissed your forehead, then reached into his pocket and pulled a 24-carat diamond out in between both of you. Even in the bad lighting, it sparkled. It was if it already had your name on it.
“It’s beautiful.” you smiled, looking back up at him to see his eyes glittering.
  “Will you wear it?”
  “Are you proposing?”
  “Yes.”
Carefully you took the ring from him and pressed your lips into a line to stop the huge smile wanting to appear on your lips. Yeonjun waited nervously for your answer. After a moment, you spoke, “Do I have to put it on myself?”
Yeonjun laughed lightly, taking the ring from you, and placing it on your left ring finger. Finally, he sealed the confession with another kiss before pulling you into a hug. A grateful ‘thank you’ left his lips as he squeezed you into his embrace.
  “I love you.”
Butterflies consumed your heart and stomach. You could finally have a happy ending as a Mafia boss, “I love you more.”
Once the moment finished, you pulled away and gazed at the sparkling diamond on your finger and allowed yourself to be overwhelmed with happiness. But your mischievous side returned almost instantly when you remembered the person waiting in the hall outside your apartment. Yeonjun rolled his eyes playfully when you broke away from him to run to the front door. With joy, you skipped over the guns laying on the floor and jerked the front door open.
Jay was at the end of the hall on a phone call when you peeked out. The phone call didn’t last long when he noticed you. He jogged over to you in a hurry, looking inside the apartment for Yeonjun.
“What happened?” he asked worriedly, looking you over for injuries.
“Oh nothing,” you sighed over dramatically. Jay stopped and straightened up. He was giving you a blank stare with a clenched jaw. Not so subtly you raised your left hand to put your hair behind your ear. Just as you suspected, Jay’s eyes were now focused on the small diamond located on a very specific finger.
  “What is that?”
“What do you mean?” you asked him dumbly, retreating back into the apartment with a wide smile.
“No tell me! What is on your ring finger?!” Jay was now in hysterics at the realization. You ran back to the kitchen with a laugh ringing from your lips.
Jay stormed inside after you, “Y/N!!”
