One thing I have to admit about SPOP is that it just seemed like the other princesses disliked Entrapta for “being annoying” than the things she actually did harmful, which is dumb af tbh?

You have countless characters in the series who has done arguably worse than Entrapta has ever done, not to mention that the princesses aren’t prefect peaches themselves, but Entrapta acting out on her neurodivergent traits is where we cross the line? And the show had the absolute GALL to frame the majority of the princesses problems with Entrapta as Entrapta’s fault ENTIRELY? Like she’s the one who has to apologize and ONLY her?

This is what people were talking about as far as the show’s morality, bias and the acknowledgement of only the things that Itself wants to acknowledge. It’s not the fact that Entrapta is being held accountable for her bad actions as far as aiding the horde, it’s the fact that the princesses only seem to like and care about Entrapta when she can offer something useful in return. Other than that, screw her I guess 😂 She’s the creepy and annoying scientist who makes us uncomfortable, no wonder she’s alone right? 🤪

They just sprinkle nice moments between them here and there to make it appear that they care for her as much as the creators say that they do 😊

So, today I have to get out a deep topic that has been in my system since I watched the show for the first time.

It’s the fact that Entrapta has been trapped on beast island for months, thinking that she’s been abandoned once again. And it hurt me so much thinking about it. First the princess alliance abandoned her which, she didn’t knew, was a big misunderstanding. Then Catra betrayed her for real and sent her to die to beast island and on top of that Entrapta probably hoped in vain for Hordak to safe her. He‘s been the only true friend besides Skorpia she had made in the entire show! Almost everyone felt annoyed or stressed out because of her unusual behavior.

The only experience with most of the other protagonists were that they were angry with her, betrayed, used and abandoned her.

And when she was waiting for her true friend to safe her, she must have experienced all that pain over and over again, when she realized that Hordak wasn’t coming.

Didn’t she matter to him? Was it all a lie? Was their friendship just a wishful thinking? Why doesn’t anyone care about her? Did he use her for her skill like anyone else?

And THIS broke my heart. It’s not just that she and Hordak got separated. It’s the fact that she must have suffered a lot because all of her insecurities and self doubt were confirmed.

I mean she’s a smart woman maybe she considered that Catra lied to Hordak but why would he believe her?

Oh and before I forget! I loved drawing beast island!! It took me so SO long but I think it turned out beautiful:3 … I probably never do it againxDD

I never understood why their trauma was treated as jokes when catra gets her trauma treatment with absolute seriousness.

Entrapta never confronted catra for betraying and shocking her, her time at beast island gets played for jokes.

Wrong hordak gets treated like a complete joke, his trauma treated as comedy then proper trauma.

Hordak trauma gets overshadowed and mocked when Catra took his crystal, the scene treats it like a badass moment when I see it as catra being ablest since hordak is a disabled character yet his trauma with his disability doesn’t fully get taken seriously and gets used against him so many times.

How is that fair? I love the show but that’s my biggest problem, the favoritism is so obvious in show and fandom.

....Why does someone need to keep an eye on the autistic grown woman? You've seen that she's very intelligent and capable. Why do you need to put her on a leash? Frosta's right there, if anyone needs protection, I would think it's the kid. Why the autistic grown woman? Again, she's 30, she's older than all of you. Maybe keep an eye on the kid and not the 30-year-old, smart, capable autistic woman? That's just my thoughts though.

SPOP princesses is the disney princess people often talk shit about how they are annoying selfish etc. If entrapta with disney princesses SHE WILL BE TREATED WITH MUCH MORE RESPECT. Are they perfect? No but they won't mistreat her. They actually listen to her hyperfixation toward technology

ALL OF THIS. You can call them all unidimensional you want, but characters like Cinderella and Aurora are very kind, and they would treat Entrapta with the respect she deserves.

Well yeah but i don't think they are bad guys.

Sure they trying capture Sonic but only because Robotnik order them to capture him.

have you seen the she-ra reboot from 2018? it did a better job at including the good bits of star wars than recent actual star wars. also, there's clones and Gender.

I did watch . . . pretty much the whole first season when it first came out, I think? But sadly I just didn't vibe with most of it so I never watched any more of it even KNOWING clones and gender and GAY all happen. I don't even really know why I wasn't into it, just The Vibes(tm) were not there for me? Like I LOVED Entrapta and Bow(sp??) and Catra, and I liked Adora a lot, but just the show overall didn't hit right for me and I barely ever watch full series as it is. I have not even seen the full first series of LEVERAGE, ffs, which imo is some of the most perfect and perfectly-to-my-taste television ever made, THAT is how rarely I watch full series of like, literally ANYTHING, hahaha. I literally did not watch all five seasons of Ride-Or-Dies With Competency Kinks: The Show!! That is the STATE of my show-watching abilities, haha!

Though I absolutely know what you mean by certain media doing things better than the actual canon did/does it, there is a reason one of my top three pieces of Star Trek is GalaxyQuest and my favorite version of Voltron is hands-down no-shame full-stop the Starlight Brigade music video, hahaha.

Well, the first one is more of a crazy conspiracy theory, but I still wanna mention it - "Entrapdak is a pedo ship cause Entrapta was meant to be a teenager" and "her age was actually retconned so the writers could ship Entrapta with Hordak". I do wish that Entrapta's age was confirmed in the show itself, cause this aspect of her character did genuiely confused a lot of fans, but thinking that she was actually written as a minor but then was aged up just cause the writers wanted to make entrapdak less problematic?? Insane

The other take is "entrapdak bad because Hordak was manipulating Entrapta to work for him and was abusive towards her". And it used to be such a prevalent opinion in the main fandom too! I honestly think those people just hated Hordak sooo much (mainly for being a threat to Catra) that they were making shit up to make him even more evil and irredeemable so everyone would stop liking him or wishing him a happy ending. Many also loved Entrapta, but hated Hordak so much that they imagined he'd be a terrible partner to her and were insisting that she "deserved better" and was actually unhappy with him (some fake ass Entrapta fans imo) Like, lets dissect this take again. At first, as fellow Hordak fans always say, Hordak couldn't even manipulate himself out of a plastic bag. Plus there wasnt a single scene where Hordak manipulates Entrapta to do smth for him. It was Catra who made Entrapta side with the Horde and convinced her to work for them. Hordak didnt mind, but he also had no say in this. And when they became lab partners it was Entrapta who forced herself into Hordak's lab and in his life, she was the one always insisting on getting information and knowledge out of him, who insisted on working with him, bro just could not make her leave!

Many used to say Hordak was only using Entrapta for her skills (and also didnt care about her as a person, like hello?? have they seen s4 and 5?) when Hordak never made her do anything she wasnt intersted in - he didnt made Entrapta help him build the portal, she was already curious about portals! he didnt make her take care of him or build him a new set of armor, it was her gift! and he was never forcing Entrapta to stay by his side or be loyal to him or the Horde - she simply enjoyed working on this project and spending time with him. And when Hordak was told that she betrayed him he just... accepted it and never thought about revenge or punishment or anything like that. And he wasnt angry cause he lost a tool that could upgrade his tech or fix his problems, he was devastated because he lost his only friend. But you know who only saw Entrapta as a tool-

Then the abuse part - by that antis usually meant those two moments when he yelled at her/ cut her off while being in pain (and also brushed off Entrapta's hair). Like, yeah, Hordak has anger issues and he does scream a lot, and my boy should work on that, but such behaviour never made Entrapta feel distressed or afraid of him. She was either unbothered by Hordak's attempts at being scary and intimidating, or she was sad FOR him (and slightly dissapointed) - she never took his outbirsts as Hordak being genuinely mad at her, she knew smth was wrong with him, but it had nothing to do with her. He yells when he tries to imitate Prime and make ppl leave him alone, or when he's in so much pain he can't handle it and once again wants to be left alone (all because he himself doesnt feel safe around ppl T-T). Should he still apologize for snapping at Entrapta? Yeah. But is such behaviour abusive? I can be, but in case of Hordak? I dont think so

i don't recall seeing anyone make this observation, but catra did to entrapta in s3 what she did to adora in s1, but i, personally, think the results are for polar opposite reasons.

what did catra exactly do to both adora and entrapta?

electrocute them when they were out of line.

she did it for essentially the same reason, because her personal plans would be ruined if they did walk away. the only difference is that adora actually could walk away, whilst entrapta didn't have anywhere to go ( at least, she might've thought so ).

but her reactions are stark in difference.

what did she do with adora after electrocuting her?

she was angry.

catra may have pretended it was an accident, but there's no moment of genuine apology or shock at to what she did. it felt more like an awkward "oh" than anything she was actually apologetic for. but, not long after, catra proves that she is still willing to go to violent lengths to bring adora back to the horde ( threatening her with zapping after victim blaming and saying the primary reason she wanted adora to come back was to protect her from shadow weaver ).

what did she do with entrapta after electrocuting her?

she was shocked.

yes, she doubled down and sent her to beast island anyway, so it's not that much better by any means, but it shows that catra might not have actually wanted to do that to entrapta, but panicked out of fear of entrapta ruining her plans and reacted violently.

there's genuine fear in what she did, she stares at the weapon with wide eyes, bated breath, and catra has nightmares about what she did to entrapta, despite doubling down.

while i personally question how deep her guilt is, it's obvious that it's there. but, with adora, there was none of that.

here's my reason as to why i think this is the case:

catra's mind works on what someone can provide her.

at best, catra and entrapta are colleagues. there's no genuine connection between them that could be seen as friendship, family, or potential romantic love ( i feel this should go without saying, but just in case, don't ship catra and entrapta. just don't. ), but more of 'what can we give each other in exchange for what we want'.

but, with adora and scorpia, she believes that what they can provide her is a right, that she is owed it, so her hurting them is justifiable.

in a roundabout way, catra views entrapta as her equal. or, at least, something close to it ( she did still manipulate entrapta for her own gains, after all ). but simultaneously views adora and scorpia as her servants // punching bags // get out of jail free cards. beneath her.

because of this, i believe, catra can't justify what she did to entrapta on a mental or emotional level.

yes, she doubles down throughout s3 and s4 after, but there is residue and it pesters her, projecting as guilt. catra doubles down to assure to herself that she was right, but she knows she wasn't.

the reason why catra felt guilt ( or whatever is closest to it ) is because entrapta and her never had a connection, because what entrapta could provide for her was bare minimum.

catra views relationships as what she can get. and what she can get is what she believes is owed, not earned or something that can ( and should ) be taken away when she's gone too far.

or, at least, that's what i think and the only way i can understand it. what about you? do you have different thoughts? if so, what are they?

Upset thinking about how people kept saying hordak deserved to die or he should be in prison forever when neither of those things would be what Adora or even Catra would have wanted

Adora held his hands, saved his life, and looked at him with hope because she KNEW he could do better and be better because all he wanted was to live and be a person.

ADORA gave him a second chance. CATRA wanted to help him on primes ship and felt bad for him. ENTRAPTA loved him and wanted him to do what he loved most which was experimenting not being a tyrant

Fuck all the hordak haters. I hope he gets therapy, fixes the damage he caused to the ethereal kingdoms, heals his heart, and lives a happy life with entrapta.
