the closer we get to arcanes finale the more worried i am bc so often .. if not always .. things i like end in a way that i dislike so much it ruins everything else for me
and im so worried they pull a 'this is a multiverse' thing bc then they can say every skin is somehow canon bc its all different universes you seeeeee and jayce went mad bc he lived through all of them or something, or force it to end in a way that makes the champions end up like they are in game- Vi is a shitty cop, Jinx is just heehoo craycray bc xyz etc

It was incredible Barriss being a cringe fail lesbian being like "wait, the red light saber wielding, all black wearing, Darth Vader serving inquisitors aren't here to help people?" Get her a t-shirt.
I love her so much.
IN HER DEFENCE she had been in jail and felt SUPER betrayed by the jedi so when someones like hey you were right and she's thrown an offer she can't say no to. what else is she gonna do!! and most importantly she's never done anything wrong in her life ever

Ok rise fans, y'all had me bamboozled.
Usagi yuichi is actually a fun character.
My exposure to this rabbit has been only through the lense of the rise fandom and he only exists there to be shipped with, so color me surprised when I actually am really starting to grow on this character. He's cocky, a little arrogant, impulsive, daydreams constantly, has absolutely no thoughts in that head of his, UNTIL ITS ABOUT YOKAI, then he knows his stuff. He has one brain cell and it only consists of yokai and be a hero. Idk if the writers intended this, but he's pretty textbook ADHD.
ALSO HE HAS A MYSTIC WEAPON??? HELLO WHY HAS NO ONE BROUGHT UP THE YOYO. I'm only two episodes in so I have no idea what else it can do besides be a magnet, but I'm gonna assume we'll see something more down the road
Also I really like his friends. Chizu is prob my favorite. Gen is also really cool. Not sold on kitsune yet, but we'll see if I grow on her. Oh and for being an animal side kick, spot is cute. Sometimes these characters flop with me bc they try too hard, but spot is actually adorable and does things besides being cute. He reminds me a bit of pascal from tangled.
Unfortunately this show has the Netflix model which angers me. Like bruh why two seasons but 10 episodes each? Cries. Bring back 26 episode seasons ;-;

i was always biased, cuz moana was never one of my faves, but man. moana 2 just looks worse and worse. the knowledge of "was originally a disney+ series" is bound to sour anything, and i can't Unknow that, but it still has this... generic, low effort vibe to it.
each trailer just has so many paint-by-numbers Disney Exec Keywords. confident young woman. call to action. comedic sidekicks. "um, that just happened." only now, the music sounds more generic. we decided lin manuel was too expensive, so now you get these no-names.
also, the plot definitely feels more suited for television than a movie.
if moana is going from island to island, facilitating the meeting of various cultures of the pacific, that makes sense as a series. you can make it episodic, "island of the week," but also have an overarching narrative. that's a big theme with cultural implications. but when you have to make it a movie... suddenly it's just One island. oh and it's Cursed. and it's cursed from BEFORE the time the ancestors sailed. uh, what's the theme anymore? because it's no longer about people being separated because they stopped traveling and communicating.
sooo yeeeeah. i know, "it's just trailers." maybe it'll be great. but when the core premise looks lame... and they're not giving me another "hook" to latch on to... that's what i'm worried about. this is not a review. it's a concern.

Can't stop thinking abt arcane s2, specifically the alternate timelines episode where jayce goes through it and ekko does science.
By the time we'd reached that episode, my sibling and I already disliked the season and were just watching it to see if it managed to get any better later on.
So we were chilling, making fun of this or that and wondering why the pacing was so strange when we started seeing the telltale signs of romance between ekko and powder/jinx. Now, my first thought was "really???" because I'm a hater of 99% of romantic pairings in media and don't find it enjoyable to watch/read. My second thought was "wait wait wait, hold up. explain how this timeline hopping works Right Now."
And thus the alarm bells starting going off as my mind worked overtime to try to figure out how this works. Is this timeline more like an illusion than a concrete world, where the people there will cease to exist when heimerdinger and ekko leave? Did the ekko and heimerdinger of this world get swapped with the ones we've been following? Are our guys in the bodies of their counterparts?
I would have had these thoughts regardless, because I quite enjoy overanalyzing media. The reason the alarm bells were ringing was because, depending on the answer to those questions, the romance between ekko and jinx/powder gets questionable.
As the episode continued it became clear that our ekko (ekko1) was very different from the ekko (ekko2) the people of this new timeline know and expect (which makes sense). To be clear, at this point, regardless of how the timeline hopping works, the romance is Very Uncomfortable. Ekko1 and ekko2 are clearly different people/characters. They could be likened to identical twins, really.
So. We're watching the episode. I'm crocheting a far too long single chain because it's all I know how to do. Sibling is judging me for my single chain of weird, sad brown yarn.
Dance scene comes up. We mock it, as we do with things we find strange, unnecessary, and annoying. The lingering sound of alarm bells is fostered by dread as we watch powder think she's hanging out with her pal ekko2 in a romantic way. The dread grows and the bells clang as we realize "they're going to kiss".
They kiss.
We sit for a moment, silence creeping in as the bells start dying. The episode plays on.
We look at each other.
The episode is finished in disappointed and disgusted silence.
Perhaps my horror was more visceral than my sibling's, as this episode has certainly not stuck with them as it did me, but I just. Whatever cute relationship stuff the creators were going for was ruined Immediately.
Powder kissed someone because she thought they were someone else, and there was nothing done to correct that assumption or apologize or anything. Ekko1 kissed powder while she thought he was ekko2 and that just feels gross and awful to me.
Now, was ekko1 thinking of it like that? I seriously doubt it. Were the creators thinking of it like that? I also doubt it.
But sometimes I just sit and think abt how powder didn't know that it wasn't ekko2 she kissed until ekko1 dipped out of ekko2's body to go back to his own timeline. What did she think about that? After the confusion, what feeling came next?
So yeah, this episode of arcane s2 is on my list of Horrifying Romances, right there with 50 first dates

big fan of airing order putting these right next to each other. i think that sad little drone is in itself a tragic romance more compelling than a lot of the plots intended to be read as such in this series

Fuck Marvel.
"I was so angry with my father and my brother, I went down to earth and held the whole of New York city hostage with an alien army [...]"
So... we gonna ignore the attempted suicide, the imprisonment, torture and mind controle AGAIN and blame Loki for it. Even better, we let him say this about himself and completely ignore what really happened. Sure, yeah. Thanks.

I watched the two first episodes of Love is Like a Cat and I still don't know if I will like it or not. I felt like these two episodes could have been one because it felt like a very long introduction of who are the characters, their relationships and what is going to be the main obstacles.
I admit, it took me time to get used to Mew speaking mostly in Thai while every other actors speaks in Korean. They remind us several times that Uno, the character played by Mew, understands Korean but he is always replying in Thai and when he is in a conversation, the others answer him in Korean. The willing suspension of disbelief has to be very high for this series to work. however, I had a hard time to do it, at first. I believe when you work in another country you have to learn the language at one point and it seems Uno isn't just here for one movie. It reminds me a lot of this video between Perth and Luke Voyage talking about the importance of learning Thai to be able to work well in the Thai entertainment industry. I thought it would be the same for Korea, but it may be wrong. Of course, I didn't expect Mew to be a fluent Korean speaker just for this series... They could have dubbed him too but the result is usually terrible. Well, I don't have a good solution to offer. We'll see how it will be in the next episodes.
I feel there is going to be a love triangle between the owner of the dog café Dae Byeol, the veterinarian Jun Hyuk and Uno. But who knows it took them two episodes to finally meet. Also Gi Min seemed to really like his boss, so what will happen? Or maybe he is there to be the lover of Jun Hyuk. Maybe I should have watched the trailer. It would have given me some more information.
Uno has a big secret. His father is a Korean business man who had a relationship with a Thai woman, Uno's mother. I guess it's the big secret Uno and his company will try to hide and to be able to do it, he will have to work with Dae Byeol.
The episodes are 15 minutes long and I skip some scenes because I found some things too long for my taste. As always I'm not going to judge the entire series with just these two episodes because I'm the kind of person who never liked the beginning of a series. We'll see. As for now, I found them a bit boring 🤷‍♀️
