In September 1946, Albert Einstein called racism America’s “worst disease.” Earlier that year, he told students and faculty at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the oldest Black college in the Western world, that racial segregation was “not a disease of colored people, but a disease of white people, adding, “I willl not remain silent about it.” When Albert Einstein moved to America, he was disappointed to see how black people were being treated. Even in his new hometown of Princeton, he observed separation of the white and black societies. Einstein thought of segregation as “unacceptable.” "There are prejudices of which I as a Jew am clearly conscious, but they are unimportant in comparison with the attitude of the ‘whites’ toward their fellow-citizens of darker complexion The more I feel an American, the more this situation pains me. I can escape the feeling of complicity in it only by speaking out. Your ancestors dragged these black people from their homes by force and in the white man’s quest for wealth and an easy life they have been ruthlessly suppressed and exploited, degraded into slavery” Albert Einstein rarely accepted honorary doctorates but he did so for Lincoln University, a small historically black college in Pennsylvania in 1946. He also gave a lecture before a small group of students who are seen with him in the picture After 70 years, photo of Einstein's visit to Lincoln surfaced when a woman appeared in "Antiques Roadshow." Her husband, who was a photographer, was present in that classroom. #equalityisntequity #educationforall #friendsofafrica #friendofafrica #alberteinstein #blacklivesmatter #education #technology #travel #dna #africanamerican #afrimerican #vibes #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #friendsofafrica #afrobeats #africanyouth #africandance #family #business #art #community (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFcRz7uHaVf/?igshid=g4bkkj23lgzy

Stand with Equitable enrichments! Some of the ugliest scenes of segregation took place in our nations swimming pools. The legacy of lack of access and loss of opportunity to build generational knowledge in water related activities still lingers with us today. Many descendants of these ladies did not develop career pathways in water related activities and the effect if felt exponentially as time passes... We speak of the dream that was never dreamt because one was not allowed to dream... the arrogant dream of splashing in a pool on a warm sunny day 🌞 Ensuring students have access to swimming pools is community building & promotes inclusivity. Funding the transportation, instructors & coaches who can develop career pathways through water for our students is a restorative solution... Hopefully repairing some harm done to people living in #redlined communities ... Where would these lovely ladies and their descendants be if they were given a fair opportunity? We teach Restorative Project Management which trains our students to develop programs that repair harm in multicultural communities. Boston residents apply in the bio. We proudly introduce that @afrimericanone has made a strategic shift to provide our communities of color new services based in restorative principles and practices... Restorative practices and principles are used in community building, conflict resolution and interventions. In communities of color restorative practices are used to end the classroom to prison pipeline. Further punishing our communities & students of color and excluding students from class for minor offenses can only stop if we restore and not punish. Restorative practices and principles teach not to engage in shame, blame and punitive forms of education and societal constructs. Restorative Circle practice is a communication tool that creates a safe space, allows all voices to be heard and can even form the foundation for healing and solutions. Join our Circle , our 🟡 of 💞... and start your road to personal healing/growth, school/business community building and conflict intervention. History made in Boston, MA. First African American, First woman mayor of Boston after 54 previous mayors. @boston_mayor Kim Janey is a #Boston girl whose roots in #Roxbury, MA means that the most marginalized historically black community has finally seen representation. She is a product of Redline policies that had her bussed from Roxbury as child to Charlestown for her education. Congratulations #mayorkimjaney and congratulations to the people of color in Boston, Ma who have for so long gotten the short end of the stick. #representationmatters #blacklivesmatter #equalityisntequity Reposted from @boston_ybp What a time to be alive! Implicit Bias is more dangerous to people of color than the insurrectionist aka the great grandchildren of the segregationist... 'Good white people' time to wake up and stop being surprised at what exists in our country. First it was police brutality of George Floyd, then disparities in the COVID-19 pandemic and finally an insurrection... all within 1 year you eyes have opened and you are all so surprised. Stop living in the matrix , constantly being surprised and appalled. Time for the proactive. Changing the name of Aunt Jemima to the Pearl Milling Company while symbolic change does illustrate how racism of the past lives right underneath our noses. In plain sight we support racism yet we cannot see how we support the racist past! What other legacy of racist American past are we yet to recognize? What sacrifices need to be made? Oh yes these past racist structures keep money in your pockets! How much of a Financial hit are you willing to pay for people of color to receive equity? MLK said the installment plan to freedom white people afford black people meets its greatest resistance. Why because truly addressing issues facing black people will COST YOU ALOT! #blackhistorymonth #blacklivesmatter #ripgeorgefloyd #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #justiceforjacobblake For tickets to our virtual events. This past Friday, Todd, a Marine with two decorated purple hearts stood at the Utah’s State Capitol with black tape over his mouth reading “I Can’t Breathe” and holding a sign that said “justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, and countless others…” For 3 hours he stood and kneeled in 100° weather in silence to the point where his shoe soles started to melt from the heat. Your silence speaks volumes. The Military are a brotherhood... #blacklivesmatter #blm #lordmesaart #military #marines #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #justiceforjacobblake #jacobblake #JacobBlakeshooting #ripgeorgefloyd #thankyougeorgefloyd Our people's military history is often downplayed or covered up all together. The vision of a black soldier has historically been taking orders, serving the worst assignments and given NO credit for their sacrifice. It should have been a vision of valour, courage and strength. Recently, learned about my family's military history. My Maternal Grandfather fought Marine, fought in WW2. My paternal grandfather was the 1st Commandant General of the Nigerian Civil Defense Force. The pain I experienced when I first heard the all too familiar words on CNN, 'this video is very disturbing' started with a cringe as I felt the trauma reemerge from the George Floyd killing. It hurts... to see yourself not being treated as human... #humanity African Americans and Native Americans are the only two types of American that didnt ask to be American. Yet we have given the MOST in blood and tears for this country. We love this country so much and yet this country doesn't love us - Doc Rivers #blacklivesmatter #ripgeorgefloyd #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #justiceforjacobblake #jacobblake #nativeamerican #keepshining #education #technology #travel #africanamerican #afrimerican #vibes #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #friendsofafrica #afrobeats #africanyouth #africandance #family #business #art #community (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEXv3StHx-Y/?igshid=14tyyb19oym43

'X' Mark's the SPOT!!! 🎯✊🏾🎯✊🏾🎯 This is the current location of @boston_prep_charter superimposed on the #redline map of @cityofboston . The school is in the Yellow area the next to bottom category in this example of 'systemic racism'. Back then this Area was populated by others that werent African American eg. Jewish community. Of course demographics have changed over the near century since these maps were drawn. We would be interested in studying the current stats of redlined areas in regards to saturation #fooddesert, #fastfood and #liquorstore and comparing them to areas that #POC live today. @boston_mayor just declared 'Systemic Racism' a public health emergency. My questions to the mayor is: Given these racially motivated maps, does a @burgerking that is across the street from a school qualify as further encroachment of the 'redline' on areas where people of color live today? Are fast food corporation saturated communities flooding with unhealthy food constitute a public health crisis especially in 'redline' areas? The @bostonglobe stated that median family worth is $257,000 while African American median family is $8. Less than a Burger King whopper meal. Can the fast food chain saturation of 'redlined' areas deprive local #blackbusiness from thriving as they will not be able to compete with $1 menus from the multi billion dollar corporations considered systemic racism? After all, #northendboston Little Italy, and #chinatownboston see no such corporate saturation and their businesses are thriving. Is this deliberate or not? We are awaiting your response... ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 #racism #blacklivesmatter #ripgeorgefloyd #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #systemicracism @boston @boston.history @blackboston2020 @blnbritjohnsontv @rtogetherbos @nsbeboston @bostonmagazine @boston25 @bostonfdn @bostonschools #education #technology #travel #africanamerican #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #africanyouth #family #business #art #community (at Boston Prep Charter Public Sch) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCi-ug-nsnJ/?igshid=j1s79gp2ktp4

“The best fighter is never angry” - Lao Tzu, the founder of Taoism. #ripgeorgefloyd #icantbreathe #equalityisntequity #blacklivesmatter Let's remember that nothing new under the sun has happened since last week except the world got to see a human being plead for his life unsuccessfully on camera. Can we expect our African American brothers and sisters to fight after all this? They're too angry, exhausted and depleted to fight. It's all of those who now claim solidarity to fight ,vote and get involved. Woke isnt a fad, it's the new normal. Amidst the pandemic we have determined that Americas racism is more deadly than the #coronavirus. The anger makes us even easier to defeat. They prefer to discuss law, order and looting as a way to define us as thugs to start the cycle of defeat that has us looking for salvation from the very oppressors that have not apologized for their transgressions against us. How does the discussion of healing start if you haven't apologized? 400 years of lynching form the foundation for the African cultural removal that has handicapped generations of our brothers and sisters from even being comfortable in their own skins. Remember what's going on now as fuel to keep you focused on maintaining a sustained effort to fight for equity and justice everyday not just on #blackouttuesday . When the riots and cameras go away find a way to be active in the communities of color near you. Our African American community is being slaughtered in many ways, they need support and advocacy from all to make it through. It's the indifference of many , that cause the many to be unheard... peaceful protests of @kaepernick7 that were unheard now give way to the voice of the unheard #riots. While some still stoke division and race war, we look for peace now and forever. Your sacrifice and that of all our ancestors will never be in vain. We will keep you in our prayers. Rest in peace , Mr. Floyd. #education #technology #travel #dna #africanamerican #afrimerican #vibes #africanculture #culture #african #fashion #africanimmigrant #afrolatin #afrocaribbean #friendsofafrica #afrobeats #africanyouth #africandance #family #business #art #community (at Boston, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CA7vdqTlkvA/?igshid=12raaxtbuibxi
