Sergio drew in closer and kissed Luciano on the forehead.  “Of course.  I just want you to feel safe.  Let’s get you something to eat.”

A phone call later and a tray is wheeled in laden with honeyed apple slices, sticky cinnamon rolls, and mint tea.

“Do you want to tell me a little about what happened in the lab?  Perhaps we can work to prevent such accidents in the future.”

Sergio settled down beside Luciano, offering him a plate of sweets and cup of tea.  The injuries weren’t anything he’d ever seen from a lab accident before, but considering Desert Bluffs and its proximity to Night Vale, it was hardly out of the question that something odd might have happened.

What to say, and what to offer. Luciano felt his spirits lift the moment he caught whiff of cinnamon and mint.

Despite his exhaustion, at least his appetite was still present. With a stiff shift of position, the younger scientist managed to right himself, sitting close enough to Sergio to be thigh to thigh. He did his best not to dwell too deeply on what had really happened... he could practically still feel the void dragging him in. He could still see one golden hawk’s eye glaring him down, wild and dangerous, next to a pit of ichor...

“I’d rather not revisit my failure,” he answered, quieter than he normally was. Everything about him was so subdued right now--as if he had been, against all odds, thoroughly bested. He started with the tea, hoping it would ease the disquiet in his stomach that rose at the thought of Angels and lightning.

“What do you do when a task seems impossibly daunting, Sergio...?”

Indeed, one perk Carlos enjoyed regarding his transformation was the ability to slither about with little to no sound. His lower half wrapping about higher on a beam, he tilted his head as he studied the stranger. Suddenly, it was painfully obvious how he hadn’t eaten in a while, his eyes dilating as they fell upon the individual.

Okay, so tumblr wouldn’t let me upload the audio file no matter what way I tried. After reading Rhapsody In Re-Education, the music used to re educate Luc in the second chapter kind of stood out to me and was something I wanted to hear. So I composed it. The full piece is a little over 4 minutes, but it really ends at around 3:40, and even that is just extras that correlates with the chapter. And after that its all just whats playing in the background while Luc puts on a happy face. Its still a little unfinished, but this is just a gift for eruditexperimenter and smilingindoctrinator for just being rad as heck? And the writing on the fic and the other fics on ao3 are absolutely captivating. Sooo, yeah! Enjoy.
