Random things I noticed while playing What Remains Of Edith Finch

There was a poster of the cannery that Lewis worked at on the boat.

2. Edith Jr wears what appears to be an engagement on a necklace. Whether this is her ring or her mothers is not mentioned.

3. At the start of the game, Milton's missing posters are EVERYWHERE. There is even a giant pile of them in a nearby lake.

4. The dragon slide that crushed and killed Sven is still outside.

5. As you walk toward the house, the music gets louder.

6. The swing that Calvin flew off decades ago is still looped around the branch.

7. There was a spare peep hole in the garage that didn't have any names or dates on it.

8. At multiple points throughout the game you can hear a train in the background, despite the fact that the train tracks are clearly destroyed.

9. There are multiple pots throughout the Finch house that looks like they have eyes.

10. One of the books the Finches possessed was 'King in Yellow', a book known for making anyone who read it insane.

11. The house sounds alive, or like there are people constantly moving around it.

12. Walters bedroom is painted with both ocean and train designs. One of the paintings is the old house that Odin tried to bring to America.

13. There are drag marks on the ground of Walters bedroom (most likely made when his drawers were taken out of his room.)

14. The entrance to the tunnels is hidden by a book called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a classic sci-fi story about a sea monster.

15. Molly's room is filled entirely with animal books.

16. There is a jelly fish on Molly's bed (possible connection to the monster??).

17. Molly has a chalkboard in her bedroom where she is a princess in an underwater castle and Sven is about to get attacked by a sea monster (slightly resembling the dragon slide).

18. As shark!Molly starts falling down the cliff, she passes a road where headlights are briefly scene.

19. When the monster gets back to Molly's room, the window that cat!Molly jumped through is still open.

20. There are still Christmas decorations in Molly's room.

A lot of random stuff/lore he said from the webinar because guess who took NOTES (these are all in order of appearance so sorry if they seem a bit scattered lol):

The photos are all stuff he sent in himself lol

His first ever debit card was an Uuno Turhapuro one (I couldn't find photos but that's what mans said)

They moved to Ruskeasanta when he was in the third grade

His mom used to work in a bank so he's been taught about financial stuff from a young age (but according to him he "forgot" a lot of it in his teens and became more like his father lol)

He used to sing in a school choir and did school plays, and after a while he found himself really liking performing

He used to get so nervous before gigs that he was shaking, and now he feels he can't perform without a proper audience (as in he feeds off audience reactions and at ESC was more nervous for rehearsals where there was no audience)

The interviewer asked if he gets nervous from something else nowadays, and he mentioned maybe being nervous about meeting the president on independence day (see: Linnan Juhlat)

His first ever summer job was at his grandparents hotel in Laukaa, where he used to mow lawns and make the beds etc for 5€/h lol

All the money he made from that job was wasted on a trip to Ayia Napa with his friends 💀

He used to be really late in the game and asked about available summer jobs in the last days of spring/first days of summer

Since his parents used to sacrifice a lot in order to get the kids new hockey gear or whatever was needed, he now has dreams of providing for his family as a way to say thank you (he mentioned his father eating scarcely for a month bcs he'd use his money on the kids, and how Mikke has also helped him pay rent etc when he was struggling financially and also during pre-UMK prep when he didn't have time to work)

When asked about school and dream jobs he mentioned applying to become an Interior architect but he didn't get in, and for a long time he also dreamed of becoming a P.E. Teacher (cursed). He also again mentioned his degree in interior design (at high school level, we call it ammattikoulu aka vocational school)

They referenced a study about finnish people mostly only planning their finances a month ahead, and he said he's already looking at his retirement plans and how to fund it. He's using the merch company money for his retirement fund, as well as other various sources, which he's splitting 4 ways (including Mikke) with the people involved. Overall his company (which he started in February and owns with his producer 50/50) pays the salaries of 7 different people with varying amounts/frequencies, and he said a lot of the tour money goes to the company to keep it afloat

Before UMK he used to photoshop house/apartment photos for Mikke (who's a photographer), as well as sell kitchens (and apparently also design them to some extent)

He used to have 5.5k followers on IG before UMK

He started gambling at 15 (it used to be legal from 15 years old in Finland until some time ago)

He moved out at 18-19 years old, and he had to quit his job quite soon after due to his illness. He lived on a lot of Kela (social sec) money, and was also helped by his family a lot

He mentioned often being anxious over his financial situation when he was younger, and was well aware that gambling isn't the best way to use money. He hopes to one day be given the opportunity to do speeches in schools etc in order to teach kids about financial security (aka do as I say not as I do lol)

Hes always lived in rented apartments, but his dream is to own his own house one day (he mentioned maybe doing it next year already)

He used to have an ASP-account (an account where you save 10% of the price of your first home and you get better loan deals) with at the most 12k€ but he had to empty it (he didn't mention what for)

When he told his family he was gonna apply for UMK and was gonna quit his job to focus on the music/preparations, Mikke said "let's make you a star" and supported him financially during that time (also his parents and grandparents helped)

He mentioned that in the future he might decline gigs if the money offered is too low, because for example 5k means he gets left with nothing because it's shared with 5-7 different people, and he says even if it means touring less he doesn't want people around him to lose money ("It's an unfortunate reality, but it's the choices you have to make as an artist if you want to be lucrative/worthwhile")

When asked about the Euro tour he mentioned (very strained I might add) that "some things" happened and he's not gonna be left with any money from it, if he'd known beforehand how it was gonna go he wouldn't do it. He was excited to see how it goes but he said he's more interested in people coming to Finland to support our economy, instead of him going abroad [and leaving the money there]

You hate Richard Haywood. For years of your life, you'd been forced to watch him, to be in his presence and breath the same ruined air as that fucking moron. Everything he touches is something he fucks up, it is something he breaks and destroys for fun. He's older than you by a couple months, 19 in senior year because he was held back once for being such an asshole.

It wasn't even that he was failing his grades, no. It was because he's the class fucking clown who thinks he can get around acting like a child because he's afraid to grow up. Richard knows this is the peak of his life, that his daddy's money isn't going to secure him a job with that track record.

Now he's in your goddamn house, breaking your shit and knocking over things like he's never walked before. He's trying to kill you- Richard is dicking around and trying to taunt you into coming out. That grating voice of his is an attempt to goad you into calling the cops like he even knows where you are. Like he knows your floor plan, hears your thoughts and ideas.

Richard's apparently been watching a few too many movies. He'd called you an hour before breaking into your home like this is Scream and he's Ghostface. Poser thinks he's all that, does he? Haywood must think he's just that good, pretending he's the villain, that you're his final girl.

You aren't going to give this freak the satisfaction of choking you out, getting to see light drain from your eyes and seeing the handprint on your throat.

No, you'd seen his previous work. Killed a girl he was into, and now he's stalking you around. Whatever put you on his radar, you're not sure of. You'll find it out one way or another, though. Richard has already lost his element of surprise, you know where he is by the banging that's in your hallway not too far away.

It's not gunshots, it's the doors he's slamming like he pays bills. The loud ass footsteps that follow as he stomps around.

You know for a fact that he's been stalking you for a while, based off the way he knew your mother was going to be working later than usual. He'd premeditated this, picked this hour because it'd still give him time to look around for you, kill you, and clean up. A few months back, he'd attempted to sit at your table during lunch, tried to get you to sleep with him and failed.

You hear your bedroom door come crashing in, the way his steps turn softer on the carpet. He attempts to make them sound more deliberate, slow and stalking.

Richard tugs open the closet door, gun in hand. When he doesn't see you, a huff leaves him. He's pissed- good. No one ever looks up, and Richard isn't an exception. Soon as his head turns back to look out at the rest of your bedroom, you drop things on him. He falls like a house of cards when a textbook crashes down, and you watch as Richard crumples.

He isn't dead, based on the groan and whimper that follows, but he doesn't get up.

You hop down from your spot to look at him, kicking the gun further from his hand. There's a little bleeding spot forming on his temple, and he's curled in on himself to let out a sob. His hair is starting to stain, and you're not really too sure what you're supposed to do now. The wrath leaves your body, replaced with concern.

Going with your better judgment, you call the police, keeping an eye on Richard.

OKAY YALL. i started getting into frankenstein which really meshes well with my jason todd obsession. so.

WHAT IF. NOW HEAR ME OUT.

there’s a Frankenstein’s monster esc character running around Gotham?

i have already thought this through. bear with me.

The Creature is acc a girl who has darker skin right? there’s a reason for this. since dark skinned women get stigmatised for being “masculine” and “monstrous”. so. I think it’d be interesting.

her name is Pandora, a reference to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus.

now. personally, i have a weird fixation on 19/20th century Russia, so our girl Pandora is Russian with mixed Mediterranean ancestry because of the Ancient Greek references. her creator and in this universe, he’s her father. is called Victor (obviously) bUT his surname is Fyodorov which is literally son of Fyodor and that name means God’s Gift. which then ties into The Creature saying he should be Adam !! but instead he’s Frankenstein’s fallen angel !!

so for the backstory which is tweaked because dc. Pandora is born like any other person yeah? she ages and when she’s four, she dies in a villain related accident. her dad, Victor, then takes her remains and puts his big brain to good use. there’s some kind of technical difficulties so he ends up literally harvesting body parts like og Victor and slapping them onto his kid.

now for the rising from the dead part. for whatever reason, our guy manages to get his hands on a bit of Lazarus pit water but it’s not a lot. so like in the novel, he uses an ambiguous mix of alchemy and electricity (along with Lazarus water) to revive Pandora.

ofc it works and she comes back to life.

so where does jason come in?

he’s the bride. idc. they’re both technically zombies you mean to tell me they wouldn’t get married? fools.

My ESC 2024 ranking

Although I'm not as into ESC this year as I was the year before, I still wanted to do the ranking. It's kinda rushed since I have only listened to some of the songs for the first time yesterday, but my top 10 was established long before that so who cares. Anyways, here goes:

1-10 Best songs ever:

1. Finland - I LOVE THEM I LOVE THIS SONG THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVERYONE ELSE GO HOME. Finland sending banger again this year. My absolute favourite.

2. Austria - another huge banger, brings me back to early 2000s and I really love the lyrics

3. Poland - okay, look, I KNOW she doesn't sing all that well live. But I really like the song itself so let me have this one. It's gonna be a miracle if we qualify, but still I just like the song.

4. Switzerland - opera and rap in one song? I didn't expect myself to like it as much as I do, but it's just so catchy!

5. United Kingdom - another catchy song for me I can listen to on repeat (maybe slightly less than I can listen to Poland, but still good)

6. San Marino - great rock tune, another song that brings me back to the 2000s, although in a different way than Austria does.

7. Croatia - although they're only 7th on my list, I won't be mad if this wins, because just like San Marino, it is another solid, good rock entry.

8. Netherlands - you can clearly see my taste for crazy performances in this top 10, so it would be an offence if I didn't put the Netherlands here as well. It isn't my favourite, but still a song I like and enjoy very much.

9. Spain - okay, maybe the performance I saw on youtube made me put it higher than I would, I'm not really sure. But I have listened to this song quite a lot since it released.

10. Estonia - to complete my ultimate crazy tunes group for this year, they also closes my top 10. They make a perfect team with Finland, Croatia and the Netherlands. My top 10 would be just top 4 if it wasn't for some other songs that also turned out to be good..

11-20 Songs I like very much:

11. Albania - she was SO CLOSE to making it to my top 10, but I liked the other songs slightly more. Still, 11th place is the lowest I will ever put this song, because for whatever reason it really speaks to me.

12. Iceland - originally it was lower on my list, but after some time I decided it was way too catchy so it had to be moved up. It's really pleasant to listen to.

13. Czechia - I've read comments complaining she can't sing live. Maybe. But just like with Poland, I just like the song and you're not going to change my mind. Nobody listens to live versions after the contest ends anyway, unless they're rewatching the performances.

14. Luxembourg - tbh my places 12-14 kept being rearranged since I like all three of these songs almost equally as much. I am really happy to see Luxembourg return to Eurovision and I think they chose a great song for their return. It's one of the earworms for me.

15. Italy - just like above, places 15-17 kept switching for me. And although I listen to this song a lot, to the point I often skip it now when it comes on my spotify, I cannot in good conscience put it any lower. Even though I listened to it too much I still have to appreciate how good of a song this is.

16. Sweden - I've only listened to it today, but Sweden brings a high production quality this year as well (honestly, what'd you expect from them?). It is a good song, although it doesn't really do anything special for me. Still, It's just pleasant to listen to.

17. Moldova - similar to Sweden, but production value is slightly lower. But I just like fast songs.

18. Lithuania - honestly, I am slightly surprised I put it above Cyprus, because unlike Cyprus, I can barely recall this song. But I like it when I listen to it. Also, good for Lithuania for not singing in English, that is always refreshing to hear.

19. Cyprus - could be switched with Lithuania, but when I actually listen to both these songs one after another, I actually like Cyprus slightly less. They used to be higher on my list, but sadly, their song is a bit too average for me.

20-29 Song I don't care about all that much:

20. Latvia - okay, I lied, I care about this song. I don't usually listen to slower tunes, they have to actually make me feel something, and this one does. I wish I could put it higher, but I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it.

21. Australia - I mean, it is fine, but too generic. Still, a faster tune will always be slightly higher on my list.

22. Georgia - similar to Australia, except I care about this one even less.

23. Slovenia - another love-hate for me. I appreciate this song and how different it is, I really do. But I can only listen to it once in a while, otherwise I get overwhelmed. Anyway, I like them a bit more because my name's also Veronika (except spelled with W and not V)

24. Denmark - they're... just fine I guess.

25. Germany - an okay song I can listen to and forget immediately. Just like with Denmark, except I forget this one even faster.

26. Belgium - I remember this one, it's just really not my cup of tea. Like, it is a good song, just not really something I listen to.

27. Malta - okay, now this is a bit annoying of a song. I will listen to it if it's on the radio or something, but I wouldn't choose to listen to it on my own free will.

28. Ukraine - look, it isn't a bad song, definitely better than Malta. But it sounds just like many other songs we've heard from Ukraine and honestly, I'm just bored of them.

29. Norway - another not a bad song, but has some parts that annoy me. Would be much higher without them. It's simply too heavy for me at some parts.

30. Azerbaijan - what ever this is, sorry, I barely remember this song, I don't even know why I put it as high as I did, I guess it was less annoying than the others.

31. Portugal - I kinda like the instrumental, but it is a slow song and not a type of a slow song I would ever listen to.

32. Serbia - I don't like ballads.

33. Greece - I'm sorry, it's just too annoying to listen to...

34. Armenia - okay, it's better than Greece in that it's not annoying, but I just don't listen to this kind of music.

Jance: 11. Who leaves notes in the other one's lunch? (Bonus: what do they say?) Nace, or at least he’d start it. His notes would be a mix of something romantic and something sarcastic, like “Janči, I just wanted to let you know I love you as much as I love finding what seems to be half your hair down the shower plughole every morning ❤️❤️❤️” Jan would play him at his own game and respond the next day with his own note, simply reading “You’re welcome, Nacko 😊” 19 for Jance is here! 21. Any routines one has that the other had to get used to (ex. morning, nighttime, sleeping habits)? Definitely – they seem to run in separate time zones! They’d have to get very good at getting up/going to bed very quietly to avoid disturbing each other too much. Nace would get particularly good at sneaking out for his morning run, coming back, showering, and slipping back into bed for a supposed lie in with Jan. (Then again, sometimes Jan is just pretending to sleep to lure him back. 😉) Obviously after moving in, Jan would have to get used to buying gluten free products as standard, rather than just keeping a stock in for when Nace visits, but I feel like he’d be more than halfway there already just from them being friends/bandmates for so long. 33. What is their wedding day like? I think I’ve answered something similar before, and my answer was something of a compromise between a big wedding and a small one – maybe a small ceremony for immediate family and friends, and then the huge celebratory party for absolutely everyone separately. Nace would be the one to appear more outwardly nervous beforehand, though Jan would take himself off for a while just to space and get his thoughts together. They’d both get a bit choked up upon seeing each other and have to take a moment before the actual ceremony can go ahead. It’d definitely be one of those “telepathic communication and eventual nodding” scenarios! For the record, all of the other JO guys would get a bit emotional, Bojan most notably and Kris covering it up the most as “allergies”. Jure would keep throwing his arms around the happy couple throughout the reception and declaring how much he loves them, even before he’s actually drunk.

Bojere: 12. Who prefers calling to texting (& vice versa)? Bonus: Who is so bad at texting it made the other think they weren't interested when they first started hanging out? [This could be hypothetical as much as real]. I think they’d both prefer video calling, but texting is more practical for everyday use when they’re on the road, and for Jere it’d be easier to take the time and think out his reply if it was something extra serious that he wanted to get across. So, realistically, they’d text all the time but have to arrange times for video calls. Jere would definitely have been worse at texting at the start in the sense that quite often he just sends reaction emojis and when he does text back it tends to be quite short and stilted because he has Google Translate open in another window. Bojan would have been in full-on ESC networking mode and had to push on, but quickly Jere settled into it a bit more when he realises he can just be himself and that actually gets him less PR-friendly answers than Bojan’s been sharing so far. 19. What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?) It’s distance related. It’s always the distance that’s the biggest issue. I mean, both of them just meant to go to ESC and do the best they could, not fall for a guy from the other end of the continent. Once the elation of the honeymoon phase starts to go, and the reality of career and family demands kicks in again, only seeing each other every once in a while is going to be such a strain on their bond and cause more than one argument. Little issues would get blown way out of proportion by the fact they’re just not in the same place. They’d get through it with good communication (see also: the added complication of a language barrier and talking only in your second (or for Bojan, third? Fourth?) language with each other) and eventually compromise somehow on where to be more permanently, but it would take time and wouldn’t be easy. 28. Who always steals the other's food? How does their partner react to it? They’d both be guilty of this! We’ve seen already with the clothing situations that they’re very much of the “what’s yours is mine” mindset, and I don’t think food would be any different. They’d definitely steal bites from each other’s plates, even when they’re just eating identical meals on the sofa in front of Netflix. But they’d also be generous and pass each other bits of their own meal that they don’t like but know the other one does, so it all balances out. 33. What is their wedding day like? It’d be the sort of event that guests end up describing as the party of the year for ages afterwards. Organising it would take ages for a couple of different reasons. Firstly, they’d want to honour traditions from both countries, the little things that maybe you grew up expecting as a standard part of a wedding and might feel like you were properly married without. Secondly, because they’d have just so many people to invite. The JO guys and the Kӓӓrijӓ crew would debate over who is whose problem now, before deciding that Jere and Bojan can just be each other’s problem, and the rest of them go off to get incredibly drunk. The dancing would go on until sunrise, and then some. Kareoke would likely be involved at some point, planned or otherwise. Ultimately though, the most important thing is that they’re both there and committing to each other for life. Even if they have to pause the ceremony at least five times because they both set each other off laughing.

GUYS I'M SO HAPPY RN WTF??!!

They're going to play New Wave tomorrow in Los 40 (a pretty famous radio program in Spain and Latam) between 19:00-21:00

Like this is kind of a big deal that they're playing this because it's very rare to hear a Eurovision song on spanish radio unless it's the winner or the spanish one (this year, as far as I know, they've only played Tattoo and only about 5 times)

So yeah, hearing Joker Out (even if it's not the esc song) in the radio is quite awesome!
