uggggggh, I think this is the last time I'll be ordering from eshakti.
The quality of the fabric has TANKED in the last year. I love their jersey cotton dresses, but the latest dress I got was paper thin in comparison to my old dresses. Dropping $50-$60 on an outfit is a splurge for me, but it was worth it for the quality!
Before this year, I had zero complaints, but now ☹

Have you gotten anything from eShakti recently? I know they had some issues a few months back (involving supply chain problems, I think) and people were having massive delays, just wondering if they've sorted those yet
Heya! The most recently I've ordered from them was about six months ago, right smack in the middle of both the holidays and the shipping issues you mentioned. I still got my items fairly promptly but I have no idea if there are still issues going on, sorry!

Did you ever receive your eshakti order? It seems they've failed to fill the majority of orders placed since the new year from what I can find.
I haven't. I sent a help message too, and never received a response. I'll be trying again, and hopefully I hear something, but this is really frustrating, because I've only seen positive reviews for them, and it's starting to seem like I might be out my money.

got a new tunic- the back is too short to be a dress outside of the bedroom, but there it just ends up on the floor...

eshakti sent me an email saying they missed my birthday (by like 2 months) and offering me a $30 gift card and then proceeded to send me like 7 more emails telling me i have a $30 birthday gift card from them

Bra strap keep sounds useful how do you make it?
Caveat that I stole this idea from Eshakti (which is GENIUS so I have no idea why no other company does it), but it's basically putting a little strip of fabric with a snap on the inside shoulder seam:

So then you put your bra strap inside it, snap it closed, and it can't fall down.
I made these ones with a bit of grosgrain ribbon folded in half lengthwise, and then put them in upside down because I'm a moron, but they still work:

Idk if you've ever ordered from eShakti but you do have much wider reach than I do - it appears they've tanked. They're happy to take orders and charge accounts, but beyond that it seems they haven't filled any orders since the new year. Customer support is not responding, the feedback form on their site doesn't submit, they aren't processing refunds... If you've bought something and not gotten your order, I recommend just disputing the charge and washing your hands of it.
oh that really sucks to hear, i haven't bought anything since one of my ombre dresses got ruined in the wash in a way i didn't understand well enough to prevent in the future :(
i'll spread the word as much as i can if it's a ghost town now

My favorite dresses (all from eshakti) have these little bra strap keepers in the shoulders so I am adding some to this dress! Size 0 snaps are so teeny.

Taking a plunge and ordering a dress and skirt from eshakti

I have a VERY SPECIFIC yet general and seemingly imaginary dress that I want to buy to live in all summer and I cannot find anything to match the description!
here is what I want:
sleeveless
scoop neck
full/aline skirt
can be belted or have a gently fitted waist
scoop or cross straps in the back
NO tiers or ruffles
chambray or a woven pattern, not a printed pattern
no shirring if possible (though it DOES make dresses fit better sometimes but it also is a copout for fit)
under $200
Here are two options that are close but either too expensive or I don't want to shop at eshakti bc I have only ever heard bad things:

The bottom one is ace & jig which I LOVE but it's final sale and that feels too risky. I have been looking for this cut dress on TRR but haven't found it!
Where else can I get this shape dress???

Heey, did you find a dress?
I did not. I did find some options on sites like eshakti but they wouldn’t arrive until after the event.
I think I’m going with this jumpsuit

Reassuring myself about packing with outfits, 1/???. The comfy plane outfit. A bright blue cotton jersey dress from eshakti that feels like pajamas, and an oversized cashmere cardigan (secondhand*, ebay)
Tumblr media
*doc what's the difference between 'secondhand' and 'true vintage'? I call anything I know/ believe to be less than 25 years old 'secondhand' and anything older 'true vintage'. Not a rule anywhere, I just think it gives people a better idea of how easy an equivalent piece might be to find.
