Today we celebrate the Holy and Glorious Apostle Thomas. Saint Thomas was one of the twelve apostles of Christ who is well known for his initial doubting of the Resurrection. Once he saw the Resurrected Lord with his own eyes, he exclaimed, "my Lord and my God!" This scene is often erroneously referred to as "the Doubting of Thomas". In the Greek, the inscription on the iconography reads "the Touching of Thomas" and the Slavonic, "the Belief of Thomas". After the ascension of the Lord, the Apostle Thomas went all throughout the lands, being the most daring and travelling to many remote places such as Ethiopia and India, where in the latter country he was crowned with martyrdom. Having been speared five times, his soul departed to the Lord. #Ethiopia #Food Adventures: The delicious #YetsomBeyaynetu. This is a traditional #fasting Ethiopian combination platter composed of #vegan #curries & #vegetables served on a plate of #injera. Taken literally, the word #Yetsom means fasting while #Beyaynetu essentially means combination platter. This dish reminds me of, but certainly does not taste like, the #Thali or #Bhojanam native to #SouthAsia, #SouthEastAsia and also found in some parts of the #Caribbean. The #EthiopianOrthodox #Tewahedo Church prescribes a number of fasting periods known as tsom (Ge'ez: ጾም ṣōm), including all Wednesdays and Fridays and the whole Lenten season (including fifteen days outside Lent proper). Per Oriental Orthodox tradition, the faithful may not consume any kind of animal products (including dairy products and eggs) during fasts; Ethiopian cuisine therefore contains many dishes that are vegan. ታላቁ አባት ብፁእ አቡነ መልከ ፀዴቅ። ቤተ ክርስቲያናችንና ሀገራችን ታላቅ ሰው አጡ። በረከቶ ይደርብን። 1) ከአስመራ ወደ አዲስ አበባ ፦(1983/84 EC) አስመራ ዮኒቨርስቲ ተዘግቶ ወደ አ አ ዩኒቨርስቲ በመጣንበት ሰዐት ትልቁ ችግሬና ሀሣቤ የነበረው የት ሰንበት ትምህርት መሄድ እንዳለብኝ የሚለው ነበር።በዚያን ሰዐት ነብሱን ይማረውና የdsk Mariamሙ ታደሰ በወቅቱ በጳውሎስ መንፈሳዊ ኮሌጅ ጀምሮት የነበረው የኮሌጅ ተማሪዎች ሰ/ት/ቤት ስለነበረ ሩቅ ቢሆንም እሁድ እሁድ ከ4 ኪሎ ኮልፌ/ ልኳንዳ ሰፈር እየተመላለስኩ የሰንበት ትምህቴን ጀመርኩ።ያን ርቀት እንድጓዝ ያደረገኝ ዋናው ነገር በወቅቱ የኮሌጁ የበላይ ሀላፊ የነበሩት፥ ሲያስተምሩና ሲናገሩ አፍ የሚያስከፍቱትና የማይጠገቡት አባታችን አቡነ መልከ ፀዲቅ ናቸው።ከዚያን በፊት እንዲህ የሚያስተምር ሰው አይቼ ስለማላውቅ እስካሁን በአእምሮዬ ትምህርቶቻቸው ተቀርፀው ይገኛሉ። በረከቶ ይደርብን ብፁ አባታችን!!! 2) ናሽቪል ቴነሲ( Nashville Tennessee 1996-2000 GC) የናሽል መድሐኔአለም ቤተክርስቲያንን ከ10 በታች በምንሆን ምዕመናን ስንጀምር ወጣቶች ናችሁ ፥ልጆች ናችሁ ሳይሉን አክብረውን ከካሊፎርኒያ እየተመላለሱ ያደራጁን ጀግና አባት ናቸው። ይህንንም አገልግሎታቸውን ህመም ፀንቶባቸው ቤት እስከቀሩበት ድረስ ቀጥለዋል።ውለታ ቢስ ካልሆኑ የናሽቪል መድሀኔአለም ምዕመናን ምስክር ናቸው። የኔንም አገልግሎት አይተው በፈረንጆቹ አቆጣጠር በ 1997 የዲቁና ማዕረግን ሰጥተውኛል። በረከቶ ይደርብን!!! 3)የዲቁና ማዕረግ ሊሰጡኝ በመጡበት ወቅት አብረን ላንድ ሳምንት ወሮ ይርጋ በምትባል እናት ቤት አብረን ቆይተናል።በዚያን ወቅት የኝህን ታላቅ አባት ማንነት እንድረዳ ጥሩ አጋጣሚ ሆኖኛል። ምን ያህል ስለቤተክርስቲያናቸውና ውድ ሀገራቸው፥ በተለይ ደግሞ ለአዲሱ ትውልድ እንደሚጨነቁ ተረድቻለው። በረከቶ ይደርብን!!! 4) ያልተነገረላቸው የአፍሪካውያን የነፃነት አባት። ለምታውቋቸው ብፁዕ አባታችን Pan Africanist የጥቁር ሰዎች ተቆርቋሪ ናቸው።እንደነገሩኝና በዘመኑም ከነበሩት አንዳንድ ሰዎች እንደሰማሁት ታላቁ ንጉሳችን አፄ ሀይለ ስላሴ ለተለያዩ ሀገራት፣ በተለይ ለኬንያ፥ኡጋንዳና ምስራቅ አፍሪካ ላሉ የነፃነት ተዋጊዎች ገንዘብና አይዟችሁ የሚል መልእክት ይልኩ የነበረው በወቅቱ ወጣት መሎክሴ ለነበሩት ብፁ አባታችን ነበር። ይህን በተመለከተ ብዙ ታሪኮችን ነግረውኝ ነበር ላሁኑ ይቆየን። በረከቶ ይደርብን አባታችን!!! 5)ሰው ናቸውና የተሳሳቷቸው ነገሮች አሉ።በብዙዎች ዘንድ ያ ሲነዛና ሲነቀፉ ብዙም ነገር ሲባሉ ኖረዋል።አባታችን ግን ሰንበት ትምህርት ቤቶች እንዲስፋፉና ሴቶች ጭምር በቅዳሴ ወቅት ተሰጥኦ እንዲቀበሉ የታገሉ ግን credit ያልተሰጣቸው ታላቅ አባት ናቸው።በማረፋቸው ሳዝን ስላወኳቸውና በግል ለብዙ ሰዐታት አጠገባቸው ሆኜ እውነታውን ስላወኩ ደስተኛ ነኝ።እንደ እርሳቸው ለሀይማኖታችንና ሀገራችን ሰርተን የምናልፍ ያድርገን። #አንድኢትዮጵያ #ኢትዮጵያ #EOTC #ethiopianorthodox #አቡነመልከፄዲቅ #EotcMedihanealemoakland #bayareaethiopians #HaileSelassieI #kingmenilik (at Kentlands, Gaithersburg, Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHV5MdkgRZI/?igshid=zyi36wndf6nu
