If you saw my post about how I might have subconsciously liked Hades because of his ties to the etruscan God februus (since I was born in February), this post is going to be a bit of a sequel to that.
I'm glad Rick Riordan covered a lot of the big ancient mythologies in his books (he got to Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Norse mythology), but I kind of feel like it's a shame he missed the Etruscans, especially now that I know etruscan mythology is a thing. Etruscan Society was located awfully close to where Rome was (they shared the region of modern day Italy) so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Rick Riordan to have at least thrown in a mention to them.
I don't know why he didn't do anything with it. Maybe he didn't do it because he didn't know much about etruscan mythology. I would understand that. I certainly don't know much about them. But now that I know about it, I kind of feel like it's a shame that they never did anything with it. Either way, I think it's kind of a shame that they didn't get to it. Even the Rick Riordan Presents books haven't done anything with it, I think. So now I feel like there's untapped potential here. Who knows, maybe I'll look into etruscan society and/or mythology later and share what I find. hopefully someone besides me will be interested in all this.

yk if any of the greek gods were real and for some reason they all asked me a favour, i’d turn them all down (with fear) but if apollo god of literally so much shit no one even knows anymore even appeared in front of me, i’d be on my knees accepting anything he wants with little hesistance or regard to whatever he wants. i dont care if hes done some bad shit or he asked me to do mass genocide, i’d do it.
hes got that kinda chokehold on me and also like hes powerful for no reason??? like hes the god of so many things, he cant not be powerful? im willing to bet that if zeus and apollo went up against each other apollo might be able to hold his own for a log while. like yeah poetry and music arent particularly useful in a fight but archery, light, sun (in some instances), and medicine (depends on who you ask) are pretty useful.
theres also so much more hes attributed to depending on what civilisation or culture we’re look at. apollo is literally seen everywhere (in ancient mediterranean) and doesnt rlly change much either (at least not big details). even his name doesnt go major changes! like hephaestus goes from hephaistos to sethlans to vulcan and a lot of other gods have their name majorly changed with each civilisation but apollo is a constant.
in this essay i will…

My Roman Empire is the fact that the Etruscans were so skilled (and in a distorted way so lucky) in estispicina and auruspicina (haruspicy), to the point that they were able to prophesy the fall of their civilization and get it right

Latona di Veio
This massive statue of the Mediterranean Goddess Latona, holding Apollo in Her hands, was found in the Etruscan city of Veio. In 2022, the statue was set up to restoration - a "much needed" one. The sculpture was found alongside statues of Apollo, Hercules, and Hermes - perhaps all parts of a singular compound scene at an ancient temple.
A legal company Carbonetti e Associati funded the project.

"If you have ever come upon a grove that is thick with ancient trees rising far above the usual height and blocking the view of the sky with their cover of intertwining branches, the loftiness of the forest, the seclusion of the spot, and your wonder at the unbroken shade in the midst of open space will create in you the feeling of a divine presence".
-Seneca the Younger on the numina.

No wonder I like Hades. I was born February 20th 2005, so I just looked up God of February. Turns out in Ancient Etruscan Society there was a god named Februus. Februus was a god of purification and the underworld in Etruscan Society. His wikipedia page is very small, but I get the impression that Februus was forgotten once the Roman Empire absorbed the Etruscan City States. Anyway, wikipedia says that Pluto was the Roman equivalent of Februus, so I guess that mean Hades/Pluto might as well be the Greek/Roman God of February by proxy. So no wonder I always liked Hades and Nico. I was born in the auspicious month for them.

Summe deum, sancti custos Soractis Apollo.
Soractis, similarly to Soranus and Śuri, is a name from a elderly italic cult (Virgil) of a solar deity who eventually got syncretized within Apollo.
Soranus and Apollo probably derived from Suri, a god of the underworld who was recorded in Etruscan inscriptions from at least the 6th century BC: he was known by the Faliscans as Soranus (Roman Dis Pater, probably a 'younger version' of Jupiter) and at Cumae as Aplu, an underworld version of Apollo.  On this hypothesis, the Etruscan Suri gave his name to both Soranus (applied to Apollo) and Soracte (applied to this mountain cult).
