I used to have beef w/this girl in college who told everyone in anime club that I was hitting on her despite her having a bf (lmao. as if, she was NOT my type) & we ended up going back & forth insulting each other over text & at a certain point I called her a homophobe, which she was, & she sent me a gif of kathy bates character in titanic that had "white tears" written on it & I was like..."girl you're white too" & she replied "no I'm not, I'm Argentinian" so then I said smth along the lines of "you literally look like you walked off an ubermensch propaganda poster. you know where a lot of nazis famously fled to post ww2? argentina! there's a non zero possibility someone in your family tried to put someone in my family in an oven" and she never spoke to me again

Your comics are so well done !! I adore the compositions, the linework and colors :D The way you approach compositions is so fun like the panels tripping over each other when Raph stumbles or the way the panel is shaped like the tunnel they’re walking through. TBH one of my favourite pastimes is staring at comics made by more seasoned professional comic artists; it's so interesting to see how they layout their pages and all the fun ways the panel boxes themselves can be used as an addition to the art rather than just what contains it.

I'm going on a trip in August and I've decided I really need a new e-reader. I've finally found a company that understands page turning buttons are good! My main beef with them is that they make too many fucking near identical devices and it gives me the worse decision paralysis. TBH this is why I don't already have one.

Pocketbook Verse Pro:

Pocketbook Touch HD 3:

The Touch HD 3 is no longer being produced and the Verse Pro is what Pocketbook is replacing it with. My understanding is that hardware and software wise they're actually quite similar, the main difference being the charging port and the new one is sliiiightly more water proof.

I like the design of the Touch HD 3 more-- to me the buttons look more functional because they look a little bigger and there's some non button space below them. I also just, aesthetically think it looks nicer. Plus it's like $20 cheaper. Is it really dumb to buy a five year old device that's no longer being produced?????????

The Verse Pro will also get to me much sooner and has more cover options.

If I'm going to get the Touch HD 3 I gotta order it ASAP.

Pocketbook has cheaper models but my understanding is that the build quality on them kinda sucks and they're pretty breakable. The problem is Amazon has no problem selling e-readers at a loss and this fucks over the rest of the industry so bad. TBH I would buy a new kindle if they still sold a model with physical buttons, but no. So here we are.

the paradesi synagogue in kochi, kerala, india. the first synagogue on the site, built by the city's longstanding malabari jewish community, was destroyed by portugese who'd colonized the area in their persecution of locals. it was rebuilt in 1568 by spanish and portugese jews who fled persecution and later expulsion, hence the name "paradesi" ("foreign" in malayalam).

these sephardic jews and a community of jews of mixed african and european descent who were formerly enslaved ("meshuchrarim", "freedmen" in hebrew) joined the malabari jewish community of kochi and somewhat integrated. they were later joined by some iraqi, persian, yemenite, afghan, and dutch sephardic jews. the middle eastern and european jews were considered "white jews" and permitted malabari jews and meshuchrarim to worship in the synagogue. however, in what seems like a combination of local caste dynamics and racism, malabari jews were not allowed full membership. meshuchrarim weren't allowed in at all, but were instead made to sit outside during services and not allowed their own place of worship or other communal rights.

as the "white jews" tended to be rather wealthy from trade, this synagogue contains multiple antiquities. they include belgian glass chandeliers on its walls, hand-painted porcelain tiles from china on its floors, and an oriental rug that was gifted by ethiopian emperor haile selassie.
