day 36 || gi-hun is so Loud about everything in s1 and i deeply adore it

#daily gi-hun #cho sangwoo #seong gihun #spent many hours this morning screaming about gi-hun #at the moment im particularly obsessed over the dae-ho thing again #i just keep coming back to it because i just. adore that plotline so much #i personally think its super important that gi-hun killed dae-ho in such a violent and purposeful way #i think that gi-hun doing that‚ sinking to the lowest depths a person can #but he still.. comes back from that.#i think it proves the mentality of “once you get your hands dirty you can never go back” that so many characters hold to be WRONG #especially for in-ho #i also just enjoy that gi-hun isnt just “inherently better”#he falls for the manipulation that the games put everyone through #but what is important i think is that he is still able to be kind after it. hes able to find some form of recovery in finding >#> something else (jun-hee and her baby) to fight for #gi-hun will always Try. that is whats special about seong gi-hun #he wasnt a great son; he stole from his elderly mother‚ but he returned to the games for her sake #he wasnt the best father‚ but the desire to stay in contact with ga-yeong was his original reason for joining the games #he was so furious with sang-woo; he almost killed him‚ but at the last second he instead gave him his hand and begged him to leave with him #he falls into the darkest place he's ever been in after episode 2. but he still resolves to help jun-hee and her baby #and he keeps his promise to protect jun-hees baby #UGH. what an amazing character. i will never ever get over him #the show explores the complexities of human nature thru gi-hun and its so beautiful #does this count as sangihun lmao?? i guess ill throw in the tag for fun #sangihun #cho sang woo #seong gi hun #my art #squid game #doodle

sorry #posting again but it's been on my mind cuz i once again saw a post and i just. really really hate the way this bit is so often taken out of context to make her out to be dismissing and belittling him just cuz she felt like it, because a lot of the story does hinge on the fact that this was in fact a reasonable worry

heathcliff of course has reasons to take it personally, but the context of the entire canto tells you why this was a problem to begin with. we also see it during the rest of the game, cuz he mellows out as the cantos go, but we can't forget at the start he was out there killing his coworkers. then in canto vi we get more about it. nelly starts here jokingly:

but by the end she's very serious about it:

the cycles of abuse is ofc one of the main themes in the canto, like in the book where heathcliff assumes for the second generation the role of their own hindley; in game he's growing both in the shadows of hindley and of his other mirror selves. but it can't really be ignored that the problem WAS there and he was shaping up to be just like them (a person used to violence to the point even someone as close to him as the woman who raised him had reason to believe he might hurt her!) and that catherine is discussing it in the hopes of figuring out a way to give him a place to heal and grow out of that absolute hell that was growing up in the heights. it just feels really weird to always discuss that part as if catherine was being cruel for no reason, when heathcliff himself admits that he left because he feared he'd murder her

instead by the time of the canto, while hindley, linton and nelly all comment on him not having changed, he continously chooses to be the better man, avoiding unnecessary fighting, lending a hand to people in danger, and ofc standing strong against the erlking's provocations and attempt to turn our heathcliff into another just like him, to continue the same cycle.

BUT it's important that back then he was a person who wouldn't have done that, a person who would have hurt his loved ones, and that what he had in mind was taking revenge on them- because he grew past that in the course of the story, then that character development is much more meaningful. and that's also why it's so important to all the people around him, who had seen him start to go down that same path as hindley, to become the worst version of himself--

because in the end he didn't become like that! he did change and become that better person, and they noticed!

The fact of her leaving right after this is killing me. I can't help but imagine that she's lost a son to Dracula in the past. And now she can't bear to watch this young man willingly go off to his death. She does what she can to save him, and then she has to physically walk away because she can't bear to stand there and look.

i still think it was really fucking crazy that in btac batman DOES come in time for once to save jason. but then he takes the crowbar joker used to beat the shit out of him. covered in this kids blood straight up drenched in it. and he uses it to save joker. yknow the guy that was beating this kid with full intention of killing him and i have no idea if bruce even considered jason a son at all in this universe he clearly does care for him in some way but they dont go too deep into their relationship at this point in their lives beyond jason being troubled and bruce willfully ignoring every red flag of This Kid Needing Help but like HE THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD HE THOUGHT HE DIED IN THAT EXPLOSION WATCHING HIM SAVE THE JOKER AFTER HE SAW HE WAS GOING TO BEAT HIM TO DEATH IF HE HADNT COME AND JASON IS STILL A KID BY THE WAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED i think i would be a little pissed off too after surviving all of that i dont know if i would try to drown a kid about it but i would start throwing grenades that look like my gay little mask too

The fight between Zushi and Killua in the Heavens Arena arc is probably top 10 funniest anime moments to me. Because like… it’s the lower levels and the spectators are probably there to show support or have some competitive entertainment. There are two kids fighting and the small one who is actively losing suddenly gets into a wide stance. Odd but intriguing.

But before anything else can happen another spectator stands up. He shouts loud as hell.

🗣️ ZUSHI

The fight stops. The stadium goes silent. 👀 What was that. The guy sits back down without a word or explanation.
