There is no endgame to worship. You cannot reach level 100 in kharis and unlock rewards.
We must continue to offer, to libate, to sing the praises of the theoi, to pray with feeling and piety.

Hi all. I suppose this question might be more on the recon side of things, but I wanna to hear from anyone with relevant experiences 😊🙏🏻 I've have been thinking about trying to reach out to Athena again, even though I never heard from her in past attempts to reach out, since I'm am picking up jewelry making again. And thinking I might continue to honor her even if I don't get a response. Because piety, etc. So my question is, what are your thoughts or experiences with this sort of practice? Did/do you keep it up long term? Was it too disappointing to never hear back and you eventually stopped? This also kinda applies more to people who do have godphone/can sense gods/entities around them, but I am also interested in hearing the experiences of those for whom not "hearing back" is a regular occurrence! Also this goes for any Hellenic god, not just Athena, I'm am asking about the experience of the practice, not a deity-specific request.

A Study on the Virtues of the Hellenic Pagan/Polytheist Faith
While Hellenic Polytheism (or Hellenic/Greek Paganism, whichever title suits you) has no rule book for its community to follow, that doesn't mean that there aren't any guidelines at all when it comes to the ways of safely, and respectfully, being a member of this globally massive religious path. Because of this, the Pillars of Hellenic Polytheism are more often seen as a guide in the way of life created by the culture of the Ancient Greeks, a worn down path for us to follow alongside the main road we more often travel in modern life.
And while we cannot entirely follow the old ways of the Hellenes to fit our modern culture and lifestyles, we can at the very least learn their core values and embody them in our own practice in our modern methods, as long as we remember to respect their ways...
Xenia
(Pronounced as Zeh-Nee-Ah)
Tumblr media
A Greek concept meaning "guest-friendship", hospitality is one of the leading core virtues in Ancient Greek culture. Seen often in the Iliad, Odyssey and other such foundational stories containing glimpses of Hellenic culture, the act of xenia was best shown in the tale of Baucis and Philemon (depicted in the art piece shown above), as it was a cultural and moral expectation at the time to offer shelter and aid to a foreigner or traveler and to be a generous host to them by giving them food, rest, fresh clothes and a warm bath, and host them as an honored guest within your home. Kindness, compassion and generosity are the core elements to performing the act of xenia, so much so that one of Zeus's epithets is Zeus Xenios, for he is not just the god of thunder and lightning, but also of foreigners and hospitality.
Today, xenia remains as one of the stronger pillars of virtue to the moral standards of a Hellenic Polytheist/Pagan. With xenophobia (the fear of foreigners) and general distrust being so rampant in modern culture, no matter the country you go to or come from, it stands to reason that one of the leading virtues of being a Hellenic Pagan/Polytheist is the reminder that, no matter the defining features or origin of a person, you must always be kind, compassionate, generous and hospitable to others, as long as they respect and return your kindness and hospitality.
Eusebeia
(Pronounced as You-Seh-Bay-Ah)
Tumblr media
This word is often used by both the Greeks and the early Christians alike, due to their common belief that the immortal beings they worshiped are to be both feared and respected due to their might and watchful dominance over the world the two cultures shared.
As such, they share a similar word... Eusebeia, which in Greek meant "performing actions as appropriate to the gods".
This meant that how one presented themselves when performing rituals, prayers, offerings and other devotional acts to the gods, they did so within reason and with a sense of maturity to their actions. To act civil, pious and down-to-earth when honoring the gods is the more central pillar of the Hellenic Polytheist/Pagan virtues, a core element in being a devotee to any god or gods in general.
(This post explains it much more simplistically and in a more narrowed down way: https://verdantlyviolet.tumblr.com/post/635451940847976448/brief-notes-on-eusebia )
Sophrosyne
(Pronounced Sof-Row-Sin)
Tumblr media
Another philosophical concept found in other religions is the virtue of sophrosyne, which simply means self-control, or its more commonly known meaning... temperance.
Also the name of a Greek goddess, the word and the deity both embody the same elements: discipline, an excellence of character and the soundness of the mind. To embody the virtue of sophron, one must simply do the opposite of hubris; to choose to be calm over being impatient, to be gracious over being highly confident, and so forth.
As common as it is in Christianity and many other religions across the world, sophrosyne is still an important virtue to learn when beginning your path as a Hellenic Polytheist/Pagan, to know how to behave in a mannerly and disciplined way as an acolyte or a new follower, no matter your beliefs or morals.
~To be continued at a later date~
Kharis
Giving devotion and expecting nothing
Arete
Living up to your full potential, working to the best of your ability to gain happiness.

WHAT I THINK THE M&I CAST ARE IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY:
Allison: Athena ( Goddess of: Wisdom, warfare, strategist.)
Thomas: Hephaestus ( God of: Fire, forge, invention and master of craftsmen)
Sammy: Apollo ( God of: Music, light, poetry, etc.)
Doc: Nemesis ( Goddess of: Vengeance and retribution)
Wally: Gelos (God of: laughter)
Grant: COEUS ( Titan god of : Intelligence and curiosity)
Susie: Aphrodite (Goddess of: love, desire and beauty)
Johnny: Astraea ( Goddess of: Innocence and Justice)
Norman: Irene/Eirene ( Goddess of: Peace and patience)
Henry: Eleos ( God of: mercy, clemency, compassion and pity)
Lacie: Artemis ( Goddess: Midwifery, protector of young children, childbirth, etc)
Tayln: Could not think of one..:")
Nelly: Persephone ..or Adonis.. ( Goddess of: Reincarnation and ghosts)
Jamie: Eusebeia ( God of : loyalty, duty ,etc)
Valeria: Could not think of one here either
Kameela: Kratos ( God of: authority)
Aminata: Calliope ( Goddess of: singing. Name meaning beautiful voiced )
Wilson: Zeus ( God of : wrath, anger, etc)
Nathan: Hades ( god of: evil ,etc)
I know for some..aka ALOT.. there were some gods/godesses that didn't fit the characters gender ..REALLY SORRY.
Hope you liked it even though it was probably messed up XD
I would actually switch Wilson to Hades and Nathan to Zeus OR Poseidon just because they're absolute DICKS. I think I drew my Joey as a greek god at some point (Dolos, god of Lies) and surprisingly he's the only one you didn't mention LOL
I'd make Doc Asclepius (God of Medicine). He used to be a human or rather a demi-god because he's the son of Apollo and a mortal woman Koronis (or Coronis), princess of Tricca in Thessaly. When he died, he was resurrected as a God! Also he brought a little bit too many people from the dead lol.
Then I'd make Talyn Thanatos (God/Personification of Death) because I'm quirky like that
and Valeria can be Psyche (the Goddess of the Soul, more known as Eros' wife. She's portrayed with butterfly wings hehe uvu)
I imagine Nelly to "Pomegranate Lips" by Derivakat a lot, so YES, SHE'S PERSEPHONE
Also Nightmare Joey is Erebus (God/Personification of Darkness), that's it.
UPD: I JUST NOTICED THAT YOU ONLY MENTIONED THAT HADES IS THE GOD OF "EVIL" WHEN HE IS ABSOLUTELY NOT!
God, I really don't like when people associate him with evil. Mostly because people associate him with the Devil, coz they both rule "The Underworld". BUT HADES IS SO MUCH MORE! He welcomes and homes the dead, they're all equal in his kingdom. He's also the only one of the 3 ruling gods (him, zeus and poseidon) who isn't an absolute asshole to his wife. He was always passive and never portrayed negatively (except abduction of Persephone, but that was Zeus' idea + being angry at people trying to resurrect the dead or cheat death ((Orpheus almost got away with it because Persephone is nice)).
TL;DR MY BOY HADES IS GOOD AND IS NOT AND WAS NEVER MENTIONED TO BE THE GOD OF EVIL.
UPD2: AND ZEUS ISN'T THE GOD OF WRATH/ANGER. He may be a dick, but it was never mentioned that he's a god of Wrath and/or Anger. That's Ares, also known as the God of War. Please, check your sources!

FFXIVwrite2023 15. Porentous
Characters: Jannie Eyradoux, @driftward and @saesama 's The Witness, U'rahn Nuhn, Violet Fisher Expansion: Post ARR Rating: T Notes: N/A
Tumblr media
Jannie looked around from a soft stool, finding the strange tent she'd happened to find herself drawn toward. All Saints' Wake was in full swing outside, Gridania alive with tourists. It seemed she'd gotten overwhelmed or perhaps moved into the tent on instinct, though, she suddenly wasn't so sure.
"You've come for a reading," a voice called out, as if answering the question tumbling in her mind.
The Elezen looked in confusion as a silver haired Miqo'te entered the room and joined her, sitting at a small table with a silver orb atop its black dressings. Smiling, the woman set out a deck of cards from her robes before pulling three small clay figures: a lion, a butterfly, and an owl. Jannie watched quietly, the woman shuffling her cards before spreading them out before her.
“Jannie Eyradoux, nearly Jannie de Jaimberd, Inheritor of Eusebeia the One Who Walked Before, Warrior of Light,” she said, voice deep, declarative even.
“Pardon…have we met,” the Elezen asked, brow raised at the curious titles the other had bestowed on her.
“No, but I know of your exploits. You may call me The Witness. You’ve come because you worry for not only yourself, but those whose fate are intertwined with your own. I shall assuage the fears you have about your dearest ones, and those you have yourself. Come, look upon the three totems here and choose a card to lay before them.”
The woman stared quietly, looking at the three figures curiously.
“Then this would be…U’rahn, Violet, and myself,” she asked, catching on to the woman’s intentions.
“Correct, now choose.”
Jannie paused, reaching out to gently pull a card then placed it before the lion. She blinked, finding the stained glass image printed upon it of a young Miqo’te woman tending to fish on a dock. The Witness stiffened then gently touched her orb, the dark swirling light within it flickering orange.
“Ah, Pietie. Upright it would signify patience and reward…but you’ve placed it in reverse. The road ahead offers only lessons for your impatient brother in light. What he believes he is working toward, is not what shall be reaped. He plagues himself with his own self-doubt, even the wake of his bolstering and he cannot shake. Even when he obtains that which he covets above all else, he will have given one dream for another. If he cannot learn compromise or true bravery and sacrifice,  it will not matter how indestructible he is as he will be consumed by his ego’s maw.”
Jannie sat back, resting her hands in her lap as she crossed one leg over the other, absorbing what the woman had said.
“Though bleak, there is veiled hope in there…is there not,” the Elezen asked calmly, “What then, might you have me do for his betterment?”
“All will be clear in time. Choose again.”
The woman sighed, reaching out for a second, pulling the next card as requested. An old man with a crown upon his head within an apple orchard laid reversed before her. Jannie frowned, glancing up as the orb began to glow red with The Witness’s touch.
“Candour…Miss Fisher has plenty of that, yet this card represents the honesty that comes from a humbled heart and hers is the most broken of them all. She fills her heart with vices. Though heated and blustering, she folds easily to confrontation. Unlike the hierophant pictured upon the card, she hides her light from the world. Should she continue unaltered and not embrace her mantle, she will never bring about the change she has been destined to make nor learn the truth of herself.”
Jannie hummed lightly, sitting up straight as he looked on quietly to the woman, watching the red light fade from the crystal orb. She looked calmly to the owl, knowing her own cautionary tale was about to unfold before her. Still, she didn’t hesitate to reach out, laying out the last card before the owl.
“Conuiccion. Yes, it would be Saint Finnea that would appear before you,” the Witness mused, fingers dancing lightly over the crystal ball as it began to glow a soft blue.
“This is the Swan Saint? I’ve told this story many times to my charges,” Jannie said, touching the glass drawing curiously.
“Yes. Tasked with leading and inspiring those who walk your path. You are not invincible and were not blessed with aetheric gifts beyond your Echo. Yet time and time again, you will prove just as powerful just by your ability to lift your comrades anytime they find themselves drowning in the foibles. After a life of feeling invisible: You will be seen.”
Jannie was taken aback by the punctuated staccato of the woman’s words. She touched her heart for a moment, looking away and reflecting on what was said before finding the other getting to her feet to take her leave.
“No, there is no charge. I come merely to tell you what you need to hear and send you on your way. What you choose to do with what has been said, if anything at all, is of little consequence to me.”
The Elezen watched as The Witness moved to the back of her dappled stall, leaving her to reflect. Standing, she brushed herself off then took her leave as well, rejoining the frenzied crowds of dressed up Gridanianians. Soon U’rahn was upon her, wrapped up in bandages near head to toe, pulling on her arm and pointing toward some Hyur dressed in Miqo’te separates babbling about how she’d winked at him while Violet approached in a Golden Saucer uniform, offering her a bucket of treats she’d yet to indulge in herself. With a sigh, she pet U’rahn’s ear and took the treats from Violet, leading them back to the inn to get some much needed rest after the long night.

eusebeia - piety, loyalty, duty

Note
Hello, i have a clarification question and I'm asking you because your blog was actually the first time I saw the word eusebeia.
I googled it of course, looked at a few sources, and from what I'm seeing it's like... Piety?
If not, please correct me, i want to learn all I can.
I hope you have a great day 🌻
That is exactly right, εὐσέβεια is like piety.
Philosophical concepts like eusebeia, kharis, arete, etc. can be broken down to single sentences in a pinch, but if you spend any amount of time dwelling on them they become incredibly difficult to define.
I’m not certain if you’ve read this post but I summed up eusebeia as duty borne of loyalty and reverence; regular praise and honour, within your means. From εὖ eu meaning "well", and σέβας sebas meaning "reverence", itself formed from seb- meaning sacred awe and reverence especially in actions. The root seb-(σέβ-) is connected to danger and flight, and thus the sense of reverence originally described fear of the gods.
Eusebeia is to behave appropriately in all ways toward the gods, and to do so from a place of respect and loyalty. It is piety, but piety as a word alone does not encompass it all. Though, it’s a great place to start.

Character Intro: Eusebeia (Kingdom of Ichor)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicknames- Mrs. Goody Two-Shoes by Dione
Bea by the others
Age- 33 (immortal)
Location- Ioannina, Olympius
Personality- She's a very conservative pious woman who stands true in her values & beliefs. There's nothing more important to her like the reverance, respect, and prayers to the deities of the pantheon. She's single.
She has the standard abilities of a goddess except shapeshifting. As the goddess of piety, loyalty, duty, & filial respect, her other powers/abilities include being able to manipulate Celestial Bronze, chastity inducement, limited photokinesis, cleanliness inducement, and being able to manipulate the feeling of loyalty in a person & others.
Bea lives in a recently refurbished stone castle in the state of Ioannina. All of the doors are built out of Celestial Bronze. Inside, there's an abundance of silk curtains with the walls painted in cool neutral shades of beige, cream, eggshell, taupe, and powder blue. The interior design is very minimalist & contemporary with many marble, ivory, and stone temple statuettes serve as decorations. Bea has pets like a few cats & dogs as well as a pegasus- a boy named Blanco. He's usually her mode of transportation.
She rarely drinks alcohol though she will indulge herself with a single glass of champagne or white wine every once in a while. Go to drinks for her include coconut water, fruit infused sparkling water, mango juice, & batido de trigo. Her usuals from The Roasted Bean is a large iced green tea and an olympian sized iced vanilla chai tea latte.
Bea's morning routine includes a jog around her neighborhood, a session of tai chi, followed by a steaming hot shower.
She dresses in a conservative fashion style (neutral colors, clothing not too tight, short, or low-cut). She's a fan of minimalist jewelry and soft & subtle make-up. Bea doesn't like high heels for many reasons, the main one being it's impracticality. She won't go higher than kitten heels & she's fond of stylish flats.
Breakfast is her favorite meal of the day. Many of the dishes she makes include scrambled eggs (added with scallions, tomatoes, and onions), ladenia, rizogalo, and a pork-plantain hash (added with spicy sausages).
She goes to church quite often and is a big donator!
Bea dislikes media (art, books, music, television, and movies) that contain an overabundance of explicit material- like coarse language, nudity, & sexual content).
She keeps her nails short, neat, and manicured. She's not opposed to wearing polish, but only in soft colors. She is a fan of Olmorfia's nail polish with her favorite shades being "glacier rose" (a light shimmery iridescent pink), "whipped cashmere" (a soft baby pink), "infinite sun-ner" (a caramel brown), and "mined over matter" (an earthy creamy mauve).
Her favorite dessert is the angel's food cake from Hollyhock's Bakery. She also likes the creme brulee from Aphrodite's patisserie and the frozen vanilla custard from The Frozen Spoon. Bea's also known in the pantheon for her sweet & delicious cucurucho!
Her main job/responsibility is overseeing the construction of all the temples built in the honor of the gods in the pantheon. She also oversees the construction of the country's churches. A notable achievement for Bea was coming up with the layout for Hera's temple that was to be built in Samos. The design included slimmer white columns garlanded with pomegranates & flowers with the walls being carved with images of one of her divine symbols- the peacock. For other work, she writes for O Dianooumenos and Vital Essence magazine. Bea also models for/endorses Glory's Crown (loves the argan oil/biotin repair & restore smoothing shampoo and conditioner), Euryphaessa, White Lily Gallery, Sunshine Radiance (loves the vitamin c brightening peel), Cleanstream, & LipCalm. She also works closely with The Litae.
Bea's personal business is her charity organization called The Pietas Foundation. Other works currently in development is a dating app specifically catered towards celibate & conservative folks with marriage being the goal and a possible tv network focused on faith based, conservative, & family oriented content.
She likes the medianoche sandwich (lightly toasted) from The Bread Box.
A favorite snack of hers are lightly salted plantain chips!
She holds fast in her views and opinions (believing that sex should be between a married couple, heteronormativity, daily prayers & offerings to the gods, etc...). Bea believes in the conservative pious lifestyle with traditional family values. She doesn't disrespect others with "differing lifestyles" & she's always open to having discussions with people who don't share her views.
Her best friend in the entire pantheon is Pistis (goddess of trust, reliability, & good faith). They call each other "sister" and she supported Pistis during the whole drama involving her sister's wedding. Bea's also friends with Eikono (goddess of iconography & literature), Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Aeschyne (goddess of modesty & honor), Themis (Titaness of justice), Eváeros (goddess of air & the zodiacs), Apheleia (goddess of simplicity) Praxidike (goddess of judicial punishment), Soteria (goddess of safety), Eunostos (goddess of the flour mill), Promylaia, Eudaimonia (goddess of happiness), Elpis (goddess of hope), & Peitharchia (goddess of obedience & discipline). She's also suprisingly friends with the twins Penia (goddess of poverty) and Ptocheia (goddess of beggary). She dislikes, but won't openly disrespect Kakia (goddess of vice & moral wrongdoing), Hybris (goddess of insolence, hubris, & reckless pride), Dione, Philotes (goddess of sex, friendship, & affection), and especially Dyssebeia (goddess of ungodliness & impiety)- among others.
A birthday gift from Pistis was a gorgeous jeweled hair clip from Diamond Ave. It cost 2,000 drachmas!
She's celibate (also a virgin) and plans to stay that way until she falls in love and gets married. Bea has her whole wedding planned in her journal! In her journal she also wrote about a time she was tempted to break her promise when she was propositioned by Priapus (god of fertility, vegetable gardens, livestock, sexuality, & masculinity).
In her free time Bea enjoys jogging, swimming, reading (is a fan of literary fiction), knitting, sewing, cooking, yoga, sailing (owns a sailboat), tennis, and pottery.
Some of her favorite dishes include platillo moros y cristiano with bistec de palomolla, ropa vieja, moussaka, dakos, and pastitsio.
"Each step following a vice ultimately leads to damnation."
