Every alliance in the life series is great for their own reasons but roomies is still my favorite due to how surprising and unexpected it turned out being
It starts out with just Etho and Cleo, despite their questionable relationship in limited life due to their previous "divorce"
And a couple episodes later we have Grian. Who at this point in the series is very low on hearts, tried to make a couple bases himself and lived in an egg which he despises and wants to burn down, and has no friends or enchanting set ups to speak of.
This leads him to question scar, who lies to him that Etho and Cleo are borrowing it which leads Grian to go over there.
After getting that cleared up, Grian then begs them to let him stay due to all that loneliness catching up to him. They agree immediately, despite probably knowing how his previous alliances went and let him stay.
Multiple episodes later, with one ending up with Etho betraying the reds to protect his teammates, Grian declares that he's sticking by them until the very end which they all agree to and he ends up sticking with that promise.
Going so far as to give Cleo a chance to escape despite that not working out in the end and not a single one of them winning.
Even in the final episode where grian did go off a couple of times to set up his own traps, he stuck by them at the top of the cobble tower Joel made early in the series.
In a season filled with so much lying and dishonesty, the roomies were filled with people who did not betray or abandoned each other like you would expect.
It's why it ends up all the more tragic when they end up being forced to operate and die alone.

Why You Should Watch 少年歌行 | The Blood of Youth
Tumblr media
TLDR: Super good, you should absolutely watch this! Not at all a BL/danmei but from what the donghua gave, there’s quite a healthy bit of bromance and brotherhood between the two male leads, and this show has comedy, plot, excellent pacing, exciting wugong moves and conspiracy, plus tons of gorgeous women and men who can all fight!!! CGI is great too, I initially thought this was gonna be a trashy but funny and moderately good wuxia drama but it’s really well-made and it is still funny and really good on all fronts.
*It has a donghua but I haven’t watched it!!!
---
Summary:
Xiao Se is a handsome but relatively poor inn owner in the middle of nowhere on some snowtop mountain, and said inn barely sees any visitors year after year. Just as Xiao Se is deciding whether or not to sell the inn, they finally get one visitor, a young traveler, Lei Wujie who’s traversing jianghu for the very first time on his own, and then they soon get a bunch of hooligans who want to rob the inn. Lei Wujie ‘saves’ Xiao Se by defeating the hooligans but in the process damage the inn; Xiao Se demands payment and Lei Wujie says he needs to get to Xue Yue City to find money to pay him back essentially, so Xiao Se follows him out of his inn in the mountains on a journey.
Along the way, they stumble upon Tang Lian, a skilled and well-known disciple of a famous shifu from Xue Yue City, who’s guarding and escorting a golden coffin to another city, not knowing what is in the coffin. He’s been hunted down repeatedly and ambushed by multiple groups of skilled experts, all coveting what’s inside the golden coffin. Xiao Se and Lei Wujie get accidentally embroiled in the mess, and then realize along the way that a monk - Wu Xin - is in the coffin. And everyone is after Wu Xin, from the demonic sects to other sects in the pugilistic world, all the way to the royal palace.
As Xiao Se and Lei Wujie end up traveling with Wu Xin, conspiracies and past feuds unravel, and Xiao Se is not who he seems to be.
Watch on Youku (YT): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1xIuBPN-lk (Total 39 episodes, from Dec. 2022 - Jan. 2023)
---
Main Characters:
Tumblr media
Xiao Se/Xiao Chuhe (Li Hongyi): The exiled 6th prince who was once a prodigy in martial arts and cultivation before he lost all of it after an attack, and he’s been at the inn ever since. Very well informed of everyone and who’s who, plus all the big happenings in the pugilistic world. Nonchalant, dealing with some issues, very bold and haughty (rightfully so), and this man was a prince and skilled fighter from before too, HAS A LOT OF BAGGAGE, banters a lot with Lei Wujie (cuz this boy is dumb) and is forced to face his demons with the help of Wu Xin. Mysterious, but not really because the moment he walks out everyone knows him like come on he’s the beloved 6th prince before he was exiled
Tumblr media
Wu Xin (Liu Xueyi): The son of the demonic sect head before his dad went to war with the royals and was betrayed and defeated, and the demonic sect had to send him over to the royal palace as a hostage, but he gets ‘adopted’ by an old monk and is taught everything that he knows (and was loved) by the old monk. He looks very demonic LMAO more than a monk, super skilled, known for his magic eyes, and he kidnaps Xiao Se and Lei Wujie to be his companions, has a bit of daddy issues too and a lot of pent up anger from when he was younger, but also like super zen at times, and then flippant at other times
Tumblr media
Lei Wujie: Dumb husky or golden retriever. Very skilled, pure-hearted, but still very young. SO DAMN FUNNY!!!
---
Why You Should Watch This:
1. Possible bromance between Wu Xin and Xiao Se - So far they’ve been very brotherhood but I expect that all to change soon, their first meeting is hilarious af this is the first thing they say to each other, when Wu Xin asked if Xiao Se would accompany him to place and bro went “No wtf”
Tumblr media
I mean look at how demonic and slutty Wu Xin is with his eyes and that jawline and see how close they sitting to each other even though Xiao Se is like get-away-from-me
Tumblr media
GUYS WE REALY DO GET BROMANCE!!! HAHAHAHA also i was wrong xiao se at this point isn’t the 团宠 just yet, wu xin is!!! he’s the center of attention do you know how many people ran to catch him when he fainted?!?!??!
Tumblr media
AND THEY WERE FORCED TO BE SEPARATED FOR A BIT AND LOOK AT HOW THEY TEARED UP WHEN THEY WERE BACK FACING EACH OTHER WTF YALL WERE BARELY BROS FOR AN HOUR
Tumblr media
2. Gorgeous men and women and they all can fight and murder you with their eyes?!?!?! (There’s more than the below LIKE A LOT MORE)
Tumblr media
3. COMEDY
Example this dumb boy introducing his big name to everyone and then hitting his head
Tumblr media
Example the whole fucking carriage has been exploded to smithereens BUT guess who is literally untouched and still in his bed?? Sleeping beauty Wu Xin
Tumblr media
Example Xiao Se praising how amazing Wu Xin is but then like “We’re his hostages but we’re praising him” wtf
Tumblr media
4. The CGI!!!! And the fighting sequences are really amazing!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
---
And lastly am I the only one thinking about Xue Xian and Xuan Min from Copper Coins!!

Okay, listen.
We are all deeply saddened by the situation lurking over our cubitos, but let me explain why Q!Roier's reaction is understandable and genuine. Despite his hurt caused by Q!Cellbit, I don't believe he truly meant what he said.
From a realistic standpoint, it's completely natural and not at all unreasonable to feel angry if someone from your family (especially someone you're close to) is murdered. EVEN WORSE, BY YOUR GROOM. The situation itself is incredibly absurd and it's completely valid for Q!Roier to feel the way he does as a real person.
We all joked that Q!Roier would be his fiancé’s apologist, but it's valid and real that he didn't. However, when he said "Te odio" (I hate you) in that moment, he did mean it, but not in the way everyone is interpreting it.
He hates that Q!Cellbit initially lied, whether out of fear or not.
He hates the feeling of being betrayed by Q!Cellbit, someone he placed trust in, much like he did with his friends (Q!Spreen, Q!Missa, and even Q!Quackity), as well as Cucurucho.
He hates that the story is being retold.
He hates being the one who's traumatized every time; he has experienced it multiple times, so it's only natural for him to react defensively, saying things without thinking, to protect himself.
I would even dare to say that the presence of Q!Quackity might have triggered memories of the past situation with Q!Spreen, regardless of whether Q!Quackity was actually trying to help them this time.
Does he hate Q!Cellbit?
Perhaps. Right now, he definitely hates him. He told Richarlyson that if he were to send an elegant (vent) mail, he would only say hurtful things. Because he IS in fact hurt, and that IS valid.
However, the real "hate" here is directed towards the pain he is once again enduring.
Q!Roier is so traumatized that he's already accepting Q!Cellbit as just like the others, not wanting to hear anything he has to say. To be fair, it's difficult to listen to someone who has taken the life of someone you cared about.
Unlike the others, Q!Cellbit told the truth and sincerely apologized right away when he found the courage to do so, despite being advised otherwise.
He was afraid, but he still spoke the truth.
He did it because he didn't want their marriage to be built on a lie, not when it was already heading in that direction.
If only Q!Roier knew how abnormal it is for Q!Cellbit to tell the truth and how much he would have preferred to lie his way out of it.
But he didn’t.
Q!Cellbit choose to not hold on that lie. He is fully aware that his actions were unforgivable. He doesn't expect forgiveness from Q!Roier.
bicrysis @ Twitter:
They love each other deeply, they are hurt by the mistakes they made and the damage it brought, but the love is still there. Just because Q!Roier isn't as much of a hopeless romantic as Q!Cellbit doesn't mean his feelings are any less valid. It doesn't mean that he didn't love him and doesn't continue to love him.
It is exactly because of this enduring love that the hurt runs so deep.
The depth of their love intensifies the impact of the current circumstances, making it all the more heart-wrenching. The realization that someone Q!Roier cared for, someone he entrusted with his heart after everything he went through, could commit such a grievous act... It cuts deeply into Q!Roier's soul.
But, the same love that hurts so much, might guide them through the turmoil, offering a chance for forgiveness, understanding, and ultimately, redemption.
In the midst of this tragedy, the strength of their love remains an anchor, a glimmer of hope that refuses to be extinguished. It is a testament to their resilience and the depth of their bond.
And that gives me hope. I can, indeed, see hope in that.
But only after everything that needs to be hurt is hurt.
And everything that needs to be healed, is healed.
[...] Love can be good, it can be bad, it can be hurtful, it can be joyful. Love is a compilation of every feeling a human is going to feel in their life.

How much do you feel Zuko is to blame for his part in Ba Sing Se? I've seen people saying what he did there was never meaningfully brought up or addressed, so I'd love to know what you think.
Never meaningfully brought up or addressed?
It's a major plot point that heavily affects the narrative on multiple sides. It's also something that is telegraphed as something Zuko instantly regrets and will regret. It's a pretty classic pyrrhic victory, and part of the reason it's not continuously brought up like some of the other things Zuko did is because Zuko never gets to realize the benefits of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when he's being pampered back in the palace, even while his father is praising him, even while he's standing in front of a cheering crowd, it's pretty clear that he's not happy, that his victory in Ba Sing Se is based on a lie and something he knows he should not have done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ba Sing Se marks a turning point in Zuko's narrative that pretty clearly primes him for redemption, not just because he flirted with switching sides but failed, but because from the moment he chooses the wrong side, he knows, and everyone in the audience knows, that he chose wrong.
That's why it's not continually brought up or reminded to us that Zuko did a bad thing. Because he's already paid the price for it.
I've also talked a lot about how Zuko is manipulated by Azula, which doesn't negate the harm he does by choosing her side, but it does mitigate the gaang's understanding of why he did what he did and their ability to forgive him. Particularly with Katara, who is the person who does continually confront Zuko with what he did in Ba Sing Se. She gets the last word the first time Zuko tries to join the gaang and is rejected, and then specifically brings up Ba Sing Se to the others, and they agree with her, all except Toph.
Tumblr media
Katara brings it up again twice after he's accepted into the gaang. But the reason she brings it up is not because Zuko needs to like, do reparations or something, or be continually punished for something that he felt bad about the instant he did it. It's because she can't trust him again after having her trust betrayed before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is why the focus is more on Zuko earning back Katara's trust, and Katara coming to understand that Zuko has genuinely changed.
Katara also comes to understand that Zuko was manipulated and that if he didn't side with Azula in Ba Sing Se, he would have been brought back as her prisoner. This is important for Katara as it relates to her arc with Azula and how that relates to her arc with Zuko. I'll never get over talking about how these three characters are intertwined. Katara goes from having to fight Zuko and Azula together in Ba Sing Se, after feeling betrayed by Zuko and not understanding why he sided with her, to protecting Zuko from Azula when she comes back for him at the Western Air Temple, and finally joining him against Azula, warning Zuko when she realizes Azula is trying to manipulate him again, and finally saving him from her.
Same with Zuko's arc with Iroh and how his betrayal at Ba Sing Se is about accepting Iroh's forgiveness, not about the specific actions he did. It's about Zuko needing to accept that he could be forgiven for his choices just as much as it is about atoning for them, so continually bringing it up as a mark against him would be pointless.
As far as him atoning for the specific actions, I think saving the world should be enough.
There's also the (neglected) parallel of Zuko and King Kuei as leaders that is established in "The Earth King" episode, with Zuko dreaming of being on the throne while being manipulated by a dragon with Azula's voice and not being able to make a decision, while King Kuei's inaction leads to the fall of his city and Azula using the Dai Li to take control. Zuko becoming the leader of his nation and ambassador of peace to the nation he helped to conquer definitely has a symmetry to it, and I think both of them work together and learn from each other post-series.
I've said this repeatedly, but what a character did in the past matters less than whether they've stopped doing bad things and are not motivated to continue doing those things. Once Zuko has proven himself as on the side of good, and once the characters who were personally wronged have already forgiven him, why would it need to be continually brought up?
As Toph points out, there's a difference between holding someone accountable and letting hurt feelings get in the way of making progress towards a greater good.

Can we just give poor Lois a break?
Everyone seemed to turn on Lois in this week’s episode of MAWS SO FAST.
And everyone is saying it’s bad writing when the writers actually did a beautiful job setting up Lois’ reaction. They just assumed we, the audience were smart and that we would weave together the threads they left us.
Lois says multiple times she hates liars
She says at one point that people aren’t nice and that Superman has to want something because people aren’t that good
Then in episode four in the staircase she tells Clark, “My Dad and I, we don’t talk. My whole life Dad always kept things close to his chest. His job, where we were moving next as a kid, how sick my mom really was…and even after she passed, he wasn’t someone you would go to with your problems.”
So picture kid Lois. Her mom dies and she discovers afterwards that her Dad knew the whole time she was terminal when he kept telling her it wasn’t that bad. She feels angry and betrayed. She asks if they have to move again and her dad promises no and yet six months later they’re changing bases. Her dad says he works in a military office and he actually works for a top secret project (pretty sure he’s on the task force for taking out Superman, which is why her Dad tried to call her in the first place).
Lois is traumatized by lies and to protect herself automatically assumes everyone, including Superman, is a liar. It’s why she’s dedicated herself to a career focused on exposing the truth.
And while she tells this to Clark in the staircase, we get a deliberate shot of her foot jiggling. Lois is super UNCOMFORTABLE and nervous. She doesn’t trust easily but she’s confiding in Clark because she’s come to trust him—in part because Clark also hates lies and has such a strong reaction when Lois lied to him in episode three. She thinks he GETS IT.
So when she discovers that he’s Superman, she’s not mad that he’s Superman, she’s angry because she feels betrayed. Clark also said he hated liars, but he’s been lying to her constantly. And of course, having a man she trusted lying to her is triggering to Lois. It sits right in that childhood trauma with her dad and she is full on having a trauma response which is why it feels disproportionate to what Clark has actually done.
She also gives Clark several easy openings to tell her the truth, but he takes none of them, which escalates things further.
I liked this scene because it felt so real because both sides are partially right and that’s what makes it heartbreaking…which in turn makes it better when they reconcile.
So give poor Lois a break and have faith the writers know where they’re going…

angsty blurb w/Trevor🤭
you asked and you shall receive…
─ warnings | angsty asf, don’t say i didn’t warn ya! cheating, trevor is a fraternity ASSHOLE, just mean ass shit
Tumblr media
you’d heard the stories about trevor but you’d chose to ignore them — and now, tears streaming down your eyes you really wish you hadn’t. giving him the benefit of the doubt multiple times after he’d shown you exactly who he really was, trying to ignore the warning signs.
as you sat there on his couch, tears cascading down my cheeks, you replayed every moment, every warning sign you had chosen to ignore. it started with little things, subtle remarks that cut deeper than they should have. each time, you brushed them off, convinced that beneath his rough exterior lay a heart of gold. the lies, oh the lies! they wove a web so intricate, so deceptive, that you found yourself trapped before you had even realized. he promised change, redemption, but now you realized it was all just another layer of deceit.
"her, trevor?" your voice came out quiet but fuming. "her?"
she was the complete opposite of you — looks, personality and everything else. and yet, despite the glaring differences between you, trevor had chose her. the realization cut like a knife through your already wounded heart. how could he betray you with someone so unlike you in every aspect?
her presence haunted you, her image etched into your mind like a scar you couldn't erase. you couldn't help but compare yourself to her, picking apart every flaw that made you feel inferior in trevor's eyes.
"i-i didn't mean for it to happen," he pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation. "it was a mistake, i swear. you know you're the one i love."
"you don't fuck other people when you're in love, trevor!" you shouted, your voice coming out shaky as you watched his expression change from emotional to slightly agitated, as if you were the one who was inconveniencing him.
"come on, don't be so dramatic," he scoffed, his voice laced with contempt. "it was just a mistake. you're blowing this way out of proportion."
his words hit you like a slap in the face, his lack of remorse fueling the fire of your anger but also deepening the wound. how dare he dismiss your pain so callously, as if his infidelity was something trivial?
"you did it more than once, trevor. you're a fucking traitor," your voice broke as you spoke, feeling all the emotions from the last 8 months come down on you. how did something so perfect, become something so terrible?
eight months of love, laughter, and shared dreams now felt like a cruel joke. the memories of happiness now tainted by the bitter taste of betrayal.
his expression remained indifferent, as if your pain meant nothing to him. it was a cruel realization that he was never the person you thought he was. the man you loved had been nothing but a facade, a mask hiding the true nature of his deceitful character.
with a deep breath, you squared your shoulders, meeting his gaze with determination. "i'm done, trevor," you declared, each word dripping with finality.
"oh trust me, you'll be back. like you always do," trevor's voice came out so bitter, you almost didn't recognize him. is that all you were to him? a mug, a girl who always came back? who was always there?
for a moment, doubt threatened to creep in, whispering its insidious lies in the nooks of your mind. had you really been so blind, so naive to believe in his empty promises over and over again?
but then, something inside you shifted. anger surged forth, fueling the flames. you refused to be reduced to a mere afterthought, a pawn in his selfish games.
"no, i won't," you countered, your voice firm. "i won't be, i deserve more than being treated like an option, like a backup plan for when it's convenient for you."
with that, you turned away, leaving trevor standing there, his words hanging in the air like a bitter echo.

I have a theory for The Sun and Moon show, related to who brought back Eclipse. What if it was Evil Sun?
Ever since Eclipse came back from the dead, so much has happened from the end of December, to the beginning of February. Eclipse has been shown to be much different than what he was before he died; He expressed how he doesn’t remember much after he died, he called out that he revealed himself too early, and he does not know why he is doing any of the actions he is doing. It’s as if he has forgotten so much about his own motive, something the eclipse we know would never do.
The only thing he knows is that he has knowledge about his magic, he remembers the star doing dead, he remembers what killed him, he remembers his victims, and he knows about Solar. The one thing he doesn’t know is who created him, that becomes the main conflict at the moment in TSAMS channel, along with LAES.
During this conflict, Ruin is seen as a suspect, a possible reasoning for Eclipse’s return. The only evidence Moon or Eclipse have against Ruin is that he was known for creating Bloodmoon’s physical body (when he was evil), and being able to fix his own body with blueprints. Ruin is seen as a smart animatronic who can create anything as long as he has a blueprint, it explains why fixing arcades is difficult, he doesn’t have the instructions on how to fix it properly.
Maybe with Ruin being accused, maybe that’s part of Evil Sun’s plan? Evil Sun has no eyes on him, no one suspects he could do anything, but ruin? He has done evil things before, and has been an enemy to Sun and Moon before. How does Evil Sun know about Ruin? With one key evidence to support my theory, he has New Moon’s information. He knows about Solar, about Ruin, about Sun, about everyone in the information given to him, but I feel with Eclipse it was complicated. Moon doesn’t know Eclipse’s true motive, his reasoning of doing evil, and he only knows what Eclipse has done, not behind the scenes.
Evil Sun could have made Eclipse to continue to mess with Moon, have you seen what he has done so far? Most of the time while Evil Sun was out of radar, it was Moon who made most of the bad decisions. Moon lied to Lunar to try to protect him, only causing a conflict in the relationship. Moon made a deal with Eclipse to keep him alive to find the person who made Eclipse, making Lunar more furious and feeling betrayed. Making Solar create Jack to protect Lunar, making him lie to Lunar so Jack could stay hidden for weeks. Every decision made has been caused by Moon, and what if Evil Sun knew this could happen.
Far as I know, Evil Sun could have a plan completely different than what I’m thinking of, but here is the plan I believe Evil Sun has made:
Evil Sun collects information from Moon, so he can learn more about the universe Moon lives in, and the strengths and weakness he has.
He goes to Solar’s Universe to collect what he needs, possibly something from the computers, his information that Moon did not have, or supplies:
Evil Sun creates Eclipse, applying magic into him, setting up a code that cannot be removed, or Eclipse would die.
Evil Sun sends Eclipse to Moon’s dimension, with a directive in his hardware so even if he doesn’t remember much, he would know what to do (Somewhat)
He plays the waiting game as he watches him his computer of what Eclipse has been doing, like collecting data like ‘Bloodmoon’s blueprints’ from Ruin.
With what information Eclipse knows about Ruin, he goes after him first, going after him enough times for him to be accused of creating Eclipse, causing Moon to suspect and interrogate Ruin.
With Ruin being watched, Evil Sun stands by and watches as he sees Moon make even more bad decisions, like creating Jack without telling lunar for weeks about Eclipse.
So far thats how I think the plan is going, moon making rash decisions, causing problems for himself as Evil Sun keeps watch. I believe that there are multiple outcomes of what he is doing right now, with how much of a genius he is, there could be something he is doing behind the scenes that we don’t know.
Either 1, he received a notification about Eclipse’s new chip, and at the moment he is coding a loophole so his Eclipse doesn’t get killed too soon.
Or 2, he waits as he watches Moon, waiting for him to make one more bad decision that caused a drift between him and Sun, leaving him alone
But whatever Evil Sun is doing, it’s not good. With the recent hints going on about Sun, if Evil Sun is the main problem, I fear that Evil Sun may at one point try to switch places with OG Sun, so he can do something worse. If not, then that’s is something we will have to find out.

@theneutralmime
Okay, we've got a lot happening here.
First, why do people demonize Obi-Wan keeping the truth about Anakin's identity from Luke. I'm probably not the right person to ask given that I'm not one of those people who demonizes him, so I can't speak to that mindset very well, but a lot of just feels like basic bad faith interpretations of Obi-Wan's motivations. Some of it might be the assumption that, if Obi-Wan or Yoda had just told him the truth, then Luke wouldn't have had to be told by Anakin himself and had that particular bombshell dropped in the worst possible way. Which, you know, MAYBE. But we also don't know precisely how Luke would've reacted to learning that information when he was younger or how that would've impacted his Jedi training, something both Obi-Wan and Yoda were fairly worried and cautious about. They're presumably TRYING to give Luke his best chance here. Of course then you have people claiming that Obi-Wan and Yoda lie because they don't CARE about Luke himself and only care about raising Luke as their personal weapon to take down Anakin and Palpatine, which is obviously ridiculous.
It's also just ignoring how much Obi-Wan DOES tell Luke. He explains a lot about what "Vader" did, how he was once a Jedi, how he betrayed them, etc. But he also talks about "Anakin" who he describes positively. He gives Luke the most complete and nuanced picture of Anakin that he can. Imagine Luke being told straight-up in this moment that his father is Vader. He'd likely never give Anakin a chance to be good at all because that information would, for good and obvious reasons, override anything positive Obi-Wan might have to say about it. But leaving that piece of information out allows Luke to continue remembering Anakin as a good person for a while longer, even after he meets "Vader" in person, so by the time he has to face this particular truth, he's in a better place to consider the ENTIRE truth rather than just get stuck on his first reaction.
And like you said, Luke himself clearly gets it. He's clearly not HAPPY about being lied to or the revelation itself, but he's not all that angry either and he gives both Obi-Wan and Yoda multiple chances to explain why they did it and their perspective on the situation without getting particularly accusatory.
So I dunno, maybe some people feel like Luke SHOULD be more angry than he is at Obi-Wan and Yoda and just project the way THEY would feel about the issue onto Luke himself. I can't say I don't do similar things myself. I often feel like people should be more angry at ANAKIN than they are in canon and like to just project that onto the characters when I can (like Obi-Wan, or Ahsoka, or Rex), so that I can explore the situation from that perspective. But, you know, Obi-Wan lies a tiny bit with the best of intentions and Anakin commits multiple genocides and enslaves multiple entire populations for several decades in a row, so I feel like one of these is more justified than the other lol.
I THINK what you're saying next here is that Obi-Wan might genuinely believe Anakin is dead, which... is likely only true for a certain amount of time. As per Disney canon, he discovers this 10 years after ROTS. Within Lucas canon, Obi-Wan is clearly perfectly aware that Anakin is still alive and out there since he discusses Vader pretty candidly as the person who betrayed him, so he knows that Vader and Anakin are the same person when we meet him in ANH. What isn't clear (if we don't take the Kenobi show into account) is precisely WHEN he finds this out, but he knows it by the time he's talking to Luke about it all. This isn't just a genuine misunderstanding on Obi-Wan's part.
As for whether I think things would've been better if he'd killed Anakin on Mustafar, I mean... yes? Kinda, yes. The thing about prophecies in Star Wars is that they tend to be kind-of nebulous things. Anakin IS the Chosen One, he absolutely is, but that doesn't mean he has no choice in his own fate. Anakin could, theoretically, defy that prophecy until the day he dies. Choice is really important in Star Wars, it's a major theme that Lucas chose to put in there, and so the prophecy is not DICTATING what Anakin ends up doing. Anakin was not always going to fall to darkness, the Republic falling to the Sith was not "meant to be" and neither was the destruction of the Jedi (if you've seen the Ahsoka show, you'll know that Filoni doesn't believe this and he's peddling a different story, so this is primarily within Lucas canon and the better shows like the Kenobi show). That prophecy isn't going to kill Palpatine, it isn't a guarantee of his eventual demise that the galaxy just has to wait long enough for. AT BEST, I think the prophecy is a guarantee that if ANAKIN tries to kill Palpatine, he will succeed. That's it. And I think he also has to be killing Palpatine FOR THE RIGHT REASONS or it won't work (for example if he's trying to kill Palpatine so he can become the Sith Master, he'll fail; it HAS to be done out of selflessness or the prophecy doesn't kick in). This also means that Palpatine could, theoretically, be killed by someone or something else. It's not IMPOSSIBLE for it to happen, just immensely more difficult and extremely unlikely.
All of this is to say that if Obi-Wan had killed Anakin on Mustafar, it doesn't like... doom the galaxy to be ruled by the Sith forever necessarily just because the Chosen One is now dead. It won't slow Palpatine down much, he'll still have the stormtroopers and the Inquisitors and people like Tarkin and he's still working on the Death Star. But it takes Vader out of commission, it's one less weapon of mass destruction on Palpatine's belt that he can deploy as desired upon the people of the galaxy. And it's one less threat aimed at the Force sensitive people of the galaxy. Palpatine can always pick another Sith apprentice, but they'd never be the same level of power as Anakin. So there's a lot of positives to Anakin being removed from the playing board a lot earlier, even if it means taking out Palpatine himself potentially becomes a lot more difficult.
That being said, it's a lot easier than when Vader is standing between Palpatine and the galaxy, so, you know, pros and cons there too. Not a single person is actually counting on the prophecy anyway at this point, so the changes are all fairly positive as far as the galaxy is concerned. But whether Palpatine would've actually ended up killed or not is entirely up to speculation. It could go either way, with Palpatine being more vulnerable and so he gets killed earlier, or with Palpatine being able to rule even longer than he does in canon. I like to think that Palpatine could be taken out by other means, even with Anakin out of the game entirely, that he's not incapable of being killed.
Also, there's nothing saying that if Anakin fails as a child of prophecy that the Force and the midichlorians couldn't just... try again and pick/create a new Chosen One as a reaction to Anakin's death.

Outsider smp Owen hair head cannons: I've had thoughts about this and wanted to share. Ok so, Owens Minecraft skin that he uses in the smp has hair buns. and i will die on this hill. I think through the entire time in the maze Owen had space buns or pigtails.
Owen is also like 35. So there is a 35 year old man. traumatized by being a child soldier and war criminal....even if he doesn't know it at first. And he wears space buns. I don't know why but that makes me so incredibly happy.
And also this means hes matching with Apo and Magic. Who also have their hair tied up in a similar way.
If you want my full personal head cannon. Owen didn't know what to do with his hair at all when he first entered. At first it wasn't even long enough to tie up. But months passed and he was getting extremely annoyed when it would fall into his eyes while training or stick to the back of his neck after long days in the maze. He was complaining to Apo about this one day and Apo's like. Hold on man i've got this.
The demon comes back with some twine, thin cloth. Or whatever the closest to rubber bands that they have in the clearing. And does Owen's hair up in buns. Owen laughs at first thinking he looks slightly ridiculous. But slowly learns to love them. when they eventually fall out he goes back to Apo asking to do them up again. Apo eventually teaches him how to do it himself and the pair have matching buns through out the more peaceful time of clearing. Sometimes they even dragged Rasbi in. They often placed flowers and other pretty forestry in each other's buns as decoration.
Flash forward several months/ years depending on what you believe. And Magic enters the scene. Owen wants nothing to do with Apo at the moment because he was lied and betrayed to by the demon. One day he comes out with his hair down, everyone a bit surprised they hadn't seen it like this scene the very early days of the clearing. Magic figures out that he's upset and offers to help. He needing something to distract himself and not wanting to have to deal with the mess of long hair in his face when entering the maze, lets the younger mess with his hair. Magic tries a a few styles, just some funny ones to cheer him up a bit. even threatening to dye it crazy colors. In the end Owens hair is up in buns again. But whereas Apo's were small and tight better for just keeping the hair from being a bother. Magics had more volume and airy. They were more for display than function. But he wore them around anyways to match magic and even use them to make fun of her at times. Only it would always end up backfiring. He no longer puts flowers in them. Flash forward again and Owens is cleaning Apo's blood off his spear. In the reflection he sees the buns and flash back to soldier rules on hair length kick in. He picks up some sheers and cuts it all off down to appropriate length. The others cant tell if that was a good or bad thing. Magic is a bit upset they don't match anymore. But Owen assures her that it was only having hair that long was bothering him. By the time Owens locked up having committed multiple murders his hairs a bit out grown again. Not helping with the heat. He can't help but hate that it only proves how much hes fallen from his soldier glory.
Anyway, i also think at one point he dyed a streak of his hair orange. It might have even been a prank on him from either Oeca or Apo that dyed his hair that way. But it didn't stick around only last for a handful of weeks.
And yeah! Outsiders may be long over but i've finally found a place to talk about it so im going to! Sorry not Sorry for the rant he means a lot to me. And if you like this idea let me know.....i might write a fic about it....i've certainly thought about it but idk if i would have the time.

I'm gonna talk about traitor!Foolish again because Baghs and BBH are starting to actually be sus of him.
I know I've said time and time again that I want Foolish to be a traitor, but I don't really think he is. Instead, I think he's the same person as cFoolish. And at the same time, I think ElQuackity is the same person as c!Quackity (AND kQuackity, but we'll touch on that on another time).
You might be wondering why I would think this despite qFoolish vehemently denying it when qBBH tried to bring it up. But. That's the thing. He literally got his memories messed with. That's a thing that actually happened. He himself doesn't know if it's real or not, so he just summed it up as memories "from another life." So he acknowledges that it DID happen, albeit not in this life. Not that he remembers anyway.
Then we have that scene where Cucurucho asks Foolish what he thinks of Quackity. And. He had answers. Multiple answers, actually. It's like he knew the guy. But he shouldn't. Because they just met at the train, right?
And there's ElQuackity who gives him some kind of special treatment. The whispers during the debate were almost casually friendly, both in and out of chat. It was like he was *fond* of Foolish. If we disregard the blatant acting and lies that ElQ spews out, his interactions with Foolish somehow felt the most... out of character? He wasn't as cold. He wasn't as devious. He felt wrong but also right.
But why would ElQ even treat Foolish like a friend? Well, maybe because in another life, when Quackity was left alone and betrayed, Foolish was the only one who stuck by his side. Even after all the shit Quackity pulled on Foolish, he still stayed. And maybe that's why he's fond of the shark man.
And by extension of ElQ's fondness to Foolish, the Host of the Island that ElQ works for also has fondness for him. Hence the protectiveness over his builds, his freedom of breaking rules, and many other things he's gotten. Because ElQ is either the Host, or at least someone close to them.
I know people are saying that ElQ is the clone... But are we sure qQuackity isn't the clone? Because, as far as we could tell, he's the only one who had his memories wiped CLEAN clean. Everyone else had 'vague memories', mentioned 'another life', and even straight up just memories. Maybe that's just the ccs being silly, maybe that's just ccQuackity wanting a clean slate, but are we sure that wasn't intentional?
After all, qQuackity has told multiple times that he doesn't own anything (talking about owning the island), and that he doesn't work for them. But at the same time has been used by the Federation as a messenger (if we ignore the meta reason for it).
(Additional thought, I think EVERYONE from the original group were the same people from their previous servers...)

Wave Of Mutilation
Characters: Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary: In his efforts to make amends, Bucky comes to the one name on the list he is not sure he will ever be able to forgive himself for.
Word Count: 1395 words
Prompt: Wave of Mutilation by The Pixies
A/N: Okay, so an absolute AGE ago some of my wonderful followers were due to receive song fics. This is one of them. Sorry it has taken me so freaking long @star-trekkin-across-theuniverse but here it finally is for you!
Tumblr media
The list in his hand was not as extensive as it had once been. There were names scrubbed off, some with a single line, some obliterated with a hint of the frustration that had come with that particular interaction. Still, he was making progress. That was the whole point of this, right? Somehow balance some invisible scales somewhere, wipe out a tiny amount of the red in his ledger? His grip on his coffee cup increased a fraction as his eyes skirted over a name. Your name. Some people on this list were more of a challenge than others, more personal, more important. Of everyone on his list, you were the one person he really hoped would forgive him, though he didn’t know how you could. The wind picked up a little, sending cascades of freshly fallen leaves along the sidewalk, depositing them in nooks and crannies where they would lie unnoticed until they rotted away. That was a feeling Bucky was fighting real hard not to give in to. He didn’t want to hide away anymore, he wanted to move forward.
His fingers worked to fold the paper napkin in front of him, a tiny distraction, something to focus on instead of the growing ball of anxiety in his chest. Each time the bell above the door rang, heralding another new arrival, he felt the pounding in his head growing louder. Maybe this had been a bad idea. Maybe he wasn’t ready for this one. Maybe he would never be ready for this meeting. He had left you there, believed their lies that you were dead. How could you ever forgive him for not even trying to find out if anything they had told him was true?
The clouds outside had turned darker and the first splatters of rain hit the window next to him and he got a strange sense of de-ja-vu. Another time, another coffee shop, sitting opposite you as the two of you watched a mark. It had been one of the times they had sent you out with him, to monitor his conditioning after a new process had been implemented. Having you there with him also made him less conspicuous, people tended to remember a lone, brooding man sitting in one spot for hours but the addition of a lovely companion made him fade into the background a little more.
The two of you had made small talk. Well, you had made small talk and he had sat there almost stoically, focused on the mission. To him, you were just one of the tech people, inconsequential. To you, he was fascinating and beautifully broken, something you felt guilty about being a part of, not that he would ever hold it against you. Never you.
Bucky was never entirely sure why, but they allowed you to accompany him on more missions and despite multiple wipes he always had a vague memory of you, almost like a dream he barely remembered upon waking. It was more of a feeling, a warmth, safety. The memory brought the ghost of a smile to his lips. In all that horror, in amongst the pain and the anguish he had found a glimmer of peace, but then another memory forced its way into his mind and his smile disappeared without a trace.
They must have known, must have picked up on something, because when they set him up, they knew exactly which buttons to press. They let him believe you had betrayed him, and he had taken their bait. He had been deaf to your protestations, you swearing to him that you would never do anything that could hurt him like that. His arm had been across your throat, your back slammed against the metal wall as he glared at you like a wild animal. All trace of the man you had thought you knew was gone and as he felt your body grow heavy the sirens blaring around him drew his attention. The facility had been infiltrated by some unknown enemy and he let your unconscious body drop to the floor as he stalked off to fight.
They had told him you were dead, added you name to his kill list, and he had accepted it. Sitting back in that godforsaken chair, preparing for another wipe, he was glad of this one, eager to rid himself of the memory of you and your betrayal. But a hurt like that has a way of sticking around.
Once he had successfully escaped HYDRA, he had accessed his files and discovered what had really happened. They had believed you to be a threat, that you were growing fond of your subject and they needed to sever that connection permanently. The plan had been to have him kill you, but the attack had left you in a coma for a while, which was good enough for their purposes. They could always kill you later if needed. Bucky had felt the crashing weight of guilty hit him with this discovery. He had been right to trust you because you actually cared for him, and he had hurt you so badly.
When his therapist suggested making a list, he had been torn between putting you at the top of it or keeping you off it altogether. It had been Sam who told him you needed to be on there after he found Bucky pouring over your file again in the early hours of the morning once the nightmares had stolen his rest. Buck knew he was right, but seeing you again terrified him. You must hate him, he knew he hated himself.
So many times he had thought about finding you, pulling this band aid off and getting it over with, but he always seemed to find an excuse not to. He knew where you lived, where you worked, your phone number, but for months he just couldn’t bring himself to see the fear and disgust he knew would be in your eyes if you even agreed to see him. Then Sam had forced the issue by texting you from Bucky’s phone, asking you to meet up with a date, time and place.
Sitting here with a sullen frown on his face, he wasn’t even sure you would show up. He wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t. No matter what happened today he kept telling himself that he would be okay. It would be okay if you didn’t show up. It would be okay if you did, and you hated him. He would be okay.
“Hey.” He was startled by the soft voice, his head snapping up, his eyes meeting yours as he scrambled to his feet awkwardly.
“Hi.” The two of you looked at each other in silence for a long moment before Bucky remembered himself and offered you a seat.
Once the two of you were settled, he took a deep breath and began. “I am no longer the Winter Soldier. I am James ‘Bucky’ Barnes, and you are part of my efforts to make amends.”
“Part of your efforts to make amends?” You asked with a hint of amusement. “And what part am I to play?”
“I- I just…” Bucky trailed off, his heart pounding as he fought to find the right words. Every time he had scripted this in his mind you had either stayed silent or yelled at him, he wasn’t prepared for amusement.
“Look, James, I know what you went through, what they did to you. There is no ‘amends’ to make here. I do not hold you responsible for what happened, so if you need my forgiveness then you have it, whole heartedly. If it will help you to talk about what happened, then we can do that, but I am also more than happy to just catch up. How are you doing? You look a lot better than the last time we met. I like the hair.” You smiled warmly and that feeling of safety enveloped him once more.
As the two of you talked, Bucky wondered why he had been so scared of seeing you again. What the two of you shared was easy and warm and he hoped you would agree to see him again because with every passing second spent in your presence, he felt the Winter Soldier being washed away, leaving the beginnings of the man he truly was.

Actually re: the last post about IDW Optimus and politics and moral grayness, if anyone here has read The Wheel of Time series, I actually compare IDW OP to Rand al'Thor in my head a lot. They have sort of the same background of "normal guy gets singled out by a person of Great Authority and put on a path to saving people" followed by a path to leadership hinging on "I became the Chosen One so even though I just wanted to save people, now I have to get involved in these bullshit politics where people are more concerned about securing their own power or spiting their enemies instead of uniting against evil."
Then there's a part of WOT where Rand becomes way darker and edgier, where basically as a result of a severe incident of betrayal and trauma, he goes "You know what, fuck you people, I tried to be nice and you just stabbed me in the back and tried to literally use me as a tool for your own ends" and he basically became a major hardass. To the point where I think there was at least one point (if not multiple) where after Rand extended some sort of diplomatic solution and got rejected, he was basically like "fuck you," fought an entire city on his own and won, then made himself the ruler and went "your armies belong to me and you're going to prepare to fight the Dark One like you SHOULD BE DOING." That phase is sort of comparable to Orion working under Zeta (OP flashbacks, Autocracy trilogy), in which OP's ideals are buried under disappointment and he's seeing these complicated, shitty political realities playing out where it seems like nothing is getting better and his attempts to work with the Decepticons only end in (from his perspective) being blatantly lied to and having his goodwill taken advantage of.
That's really what my ideal phase 2/3 story for Optimus would've been lmao. Still with the same idea of "gee you ARE fighting for the greater good but aren't you going a little far," but balanced out with a rightful dose of "I tried to be diplomatic and nice but no one listened, what else can I do but use force/politics/manipulation to make people see reason if they won't stop backstabbing and betraying each other in time to fight the Actual Evil Force who's going to kill us all."
WOT Rand even had a part of his character arc where he went so far into "humanity sucks, they would literally rather get slaughtered by the ultimate evil than set aside their petty bullshit long enough to work together" where he almost committed murder-suicide in a fit of despair that maybe humanity wasn't even worth saving at all. Only for him to be saved from the edge of despair by realizing "Wait, the world SHOULD be saved, because even though humanity sucks and so many people are evil, good still exists in the world and we can still fight to make the world a better place than it is."
LIKE IN A WAY RAND AL THOR IS BASICALLY IDW OPTIMUS in terms of the general shape of his character arc. Just the difference is that Rand got written as just a character with flaws and virtues coping the best he can under immense pressure and trauma. Whereas IDW OP got written more as "God the world fucking sucks and Cybertronians might just deserve to die bc we colonized people" and also everyone is constantly calling him a fascist and even the titles of his story are comparing him to an actual genocidal tyrant who killed 100 billion+ people. No joy or humanity just a scapegoat for evil living in a shitty world where everyone is miserable and "maybe our entire race IS doomed and we DO deserve to die" is like, a repeated motif of the entire story all the way to Unicron. As opposed to being treated as an obviously shitty worldview that the characters grapple with and go "no actually the world can be a good place and our society can recover from war and we don't deserve oblivion because of the cycle of violence we're trying to escape."

A/N:  I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PROMOTE THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR. It is impractical scary and even gross. Violation of someone’s personal space/ life is not being romanticised in this post. Rather it is JUST A FICTIONAL TROUPE WITH FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.
NOTE THAT THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE AND IT IS NOT REAL OR BEING SUPPORTED!!!
Note that I have no knowledge of how drugs work except what I have studied in school/ done research, if there are any factual inaccuracies, please forgive me.

The dim fluorescent lights illuminated his face and made your heart flutter like crazy. There was this sour tang in your drink, probably the guilt. Your conscience revolted against your infatuation, calling you crazy.
But how could you not fall for him?
After investigating him and trailing after him for months. Knowing him from head to toe and despite his grey morals you found yourself falling into the abyssmal feeling of love.
It was sort of Stockholm-ish, without the kidnapping part though.
You found yourself delaying the investigation, knowing that at the end of it, either one of you would be dead--take a taste of the broth while its still warm, one could say.
It felt incredibly hazy now-- your legs were incredibly shaky and powerless. You gasped to pull yourself together, stumbling while getting outside the club. Through your tunnelling vision, you saw yourself being collided with something firm--and then it was all black.
Tumblr media
A harsh headache thumped on your temples, making you hiss as you writhed in the restraints.
You squinted to look at the man in front of you. Three buttons unbuttoned, giving you the view of that black tattoo on his chiseled chest you had seen multiple times.
One leg resting atop another, his finger ran on the rim of the wine chalice, adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he indulged himself in the wine, as you sat kneeling a few feet away from him, hands tied to a pole of a club.
His half-lidded eyes drew towards you as he heard the sound of your clothes rustling against the rope. Your eyes widened in fear and you gulped harshly as his eyes undressed you.
“Tell me,” he spoke thickly, “who do you work for?”
You bit your lips and refused to answer, the metallic taste swirled in your mouth.
“For how long have you been stalking me?” his voice raised a little and you looked at him dead in the eye...how did he manage to look so good even when he was mad?
You gulped harshly as a shaky breath left your mouth. So pretty, he was so so so so pretty and he was all yours.
“Answer me!” he snapped, slamming the glass in his hand against a wall, you flinched at his booming voice, suddenly fearing for your life, more than your infatuation.
Rindou Haitani  was intimidating—terrifying. One look at him brought you to a dreadful shudder, and it only became worse every time he so much as looked at you. You were paralysed; you had heard things about him that could turn a hitman's blood colder than ice. He was a dangerous cog in the machine and you were caught in the middle of it.
Your eyes flickered to his face for any reaction. It was stone-cold and unwavering, that’s hot.
“I-uhm,” you cringed as your voice betrayed you, “2 weeks.”
“Lies,” he huffed.
“Uhh- fine a month,” you lied again, the crooked look of anger on his face made you bite your tongue and utter the truth,”3 months.”
He looked at you with disgust, “why?”
Walking to your jacket, he searched for any proof of identification, shit, now he was gonna know that you were a detective and he would kill you before he even gets a chance.
“Wait!” you shouted, and his head snapped in your direction, "I know you will want to kill me as soon as you see my ID, yes I am a detective, but I gave up on the case because..." your throat felt dry and hoarse as you spoke the next words
“I-love you so much, Rindou.”
“The fuck?” he spat and you suddenly felt embarrassed.
"I am sorry, I just- I know it sounds unbelievable, but I had enough evidence to get you a jail of a lifetime, but I didn't, I couldn't get myself to. I am so in love with you that it hurts!" You shouted with tears sparkling your waterline.
Rindou stayed quiet for a few seconds, but those were enough to make bile churn through all the cells of your body, “how delusional do you have to be to say this shit?”
“No, no, no, I am not delusional, I have been watching you, loving you for so long; you deserve better, something so perfect, I’ll give you that; please just accept me,” you pleaded.
“Are you sick in your head or something,? he hissed with disgust.
You would rather bear his revulsion, his scrutiny, his spitefulness than be away from him. He was your god! Your saviour, he was your only point of existence!
"I don't care if you call me crazy," you laughed pitifully, “No matter what you do to me, I’ll worship the very ground you walk on. That's what it means to love someone.”
His eyes narrowed as he crouched to your position, sharp features scanning you like some sort of twisted game he has to solve.
His palm moved to your face to caress your cheek, and if it were possible for humans to instantaneously combust, you would've.
Your skin ignited with ache for him, blossoming from the pits of your gut, leaning onto his tender hand. The one of your saviour.
You know every single thing about him. You have memorized the routes he follows and kept information about the people close to him. Break into his house, and steal his belongings for your little collection. You have little photos of him, working, in Bonten, with his colleagues. But you have never gone as far as having inappropriate photos of him. At least you had that my much conscience.
Rindou smirked and moved a little away from you, you whined at the loss of contact, "give me a second, gotta make a call."
"A-Are you going to kill me?" you whimpered, "please don't kill me Rindou, I want to live with you forever!"
"Of course not, I am not going to kill you, doll, just let me make a call to arrange a place for you to stay, you are joining to be mine after all~."
'Doll' shit, you were you were going to burst into flames like a phoenix.' Guess your god, you so revere may not be as divine as you painted him out to be, he accepted you oh so willingly, without thinking you were eccentric.
Tumblr media
"Holy shit, Aniki, it worked!" Rindou exclaimed in triumph in his car, "you are the greatest!"
"You know seeing a person's face everywhere, especially when you are supposed to hate them, really entices romance," Ran chuckled.
"But that's not all, you forgot the secret ingredient," Rindou smirked tapping his steering wheel.
"Of course, I didn't," Ran simpered, "seeing your face every day for the case plus the ecstasy we were sneaking in their food. Portraying you in the best light possible, obviously, was gonna work."
"Shit," Rindou leaned his head on the seat, "I finally have them Aniki! My Y/N, my dearest! They were meant to be mine!"
"She is with me, willingly," he hollered, "she is going to be with me forever--we're gon' be the next Harley Quinn and Joker!"
Who knew, dearest Y/N, The hunter you were hunting, that turned to your prey, was the hunter after all. You were the catch and he was the apex predator.

I got a lot of edits on my fyp prior to watching any TVDU show so I knew a solid amount of the plot lines prior to watching either show, which also means I knew what characters were normalized to be hated/loved. I started these shows and expected to absolutely despise Matt, Elena, Tyler, and Cami. None of them are my favorite, but I never understood the hate for any of them whatsoever.
The Matt hate just makes no sense, I’m convinced people just want to “fit in” and hate the person that everyone else hates. You pretty much explained everything I would say for him so I’ll hold back a bit here. And yeah, I’m tired of people pretending he’s not attractive cause there is not a single actor on this show that doesn’t look good.
Everyone calls Elena a crybaby, but if they had lost the amount of people that she had before they’re even 20 years old, I guarantee you they’d be crying even more than she did. And calling her selfish? She very rarely ever put herself over anyone. There’s also the argument that she ‘played Stefan’ which in my opinion is just straight out wrong, it’s not like she was pretending to be in love with him while she was with him, but if you hate her for that, you’d have to hate like half the show. I swear everyone dated everyone within that friend group, why do people only hate on her for it? Also this has nothing to do with my point, but why does everyone hate on her NH era? I liked it, it gave her character something different.
Everyone hates on Tyler for one of two reasons. One being that he tried to SA Vicki in season 1, which you would think is a valid excuse, but then they go onto say Klaus, Damon, and/or Katherine is their favorite character (and I’m saying this as my Damon and Klaus are both in my top 5 TVDU characters). The second reason would be something along the lines of Tyler wanting to get revenge on Klaus. I do think he went too far with trying to kill Hayley/hope, but aside from that, he had every right to get revenge on Klaus. He killed his mom and practically ruined his life, including messing with his relationship with Caroline. I actually love Forewood, but I don’t think they could’ve been endgame after that. So I don’t get why people hate on him for leaving Caroline, because I feel like continuing to lead her on when his head is nowhere near the right space would’ve been worse.
Then there’s cami, which is honestly the most confusing one out of all to me. I completely understand her not being your favorite, especially if you’re into more of the anti heroes or villains (like me), but I do not understand why people just absolutely despise her. She plays a major part in the originals, especially early on, as she is the only person Klaus seems to care about listening to whatsoever. He isn’t paying Hayley any sort of attention, and he lied to/betrayed Elijah left and right in season 1. She’s also never betrayed anyone that she considers to be friends or family. The biggest reason she’s hated on is because she ‘stole Klaus from Caroline.” 1. I genuinely just do not get what people see in klaroline. I don’t absolutely despise them, but I do not like them either. Klaus hurt her multiple times (which, by the way, why do people act like Klaus is a hero for saving Caroline from a bite he caused…?) and Caroline was manipulating him every chance she got. I totally understand the whole ‘enemies to lovers’ trope, considering I like delena, but I just do not get it here. 2. How did anyone see that Klaus (and the originals) was getting his own show, and still expect klaroline to work out? 95% of interactions they had post TO being made was complete fan service. It would’ve been WAY too difficult to do a long distance thing with two different shows, especially when neither of them were (im so gonna get hated for this) never in love with each other, they weren’t even in a relationship. Oh and back to the forewood thing real quick, Tyler had every right to be pissed at Caroline for sleeping with Klaus.
Well that turned into a klaroline bashing towards the end. For the record my top 5 characters are Damon, Elijah, kol, hayley, and Klaus in that order and there really aren’t any ships (canonical ships anyway) that I absolutely hate so.
Side note, thank you for being able to hold characters accountable. I like characters as villains/anti heroes because they are a villain/anti hero, I will never understand why people try to defend their favorite character and make them seem like a hero. Like the character for their character, don’t make them into something completely different. If you wanna debate anything further (or something entirely different) let me know, I enjoy debating about shows, I just typically can’t find anyone in this fandom (or any fandom for that matter) that is able to have an actual debate without someone starting to scream over an opinion lmao.
There really isn’t a question here I just kinda felt like ranting after reading your post about Matt Donovan so here it is. Reply to this as you please!
I was fortunate enough to watch the shows before I got into the fandom so I didn't get spoilers (at least for TVD), but more importantly, I didn't have anyone to influence me on which characters to like or not. Which was why I was so surprised when I joined the fandom and saw so much hatred. But I do think some people just "bandwagon" hate characters. Especially Matt. Because anytime I ask people why, they can't even truly express why they *hate* him.
Elena was never my favorite character but I loved early seasons of Elena. I even enjoyed her NH era. I didn't like her sire bond era much. But she definitely gets too much hate. Even at times when I think she can be selfish, she's still miles better than the men the fandom loves.
I've actually posted about Tyler before, you can find that here. Sure, he's done questionable/problematic things, but who hasn't? The hate he gets is ridiculous, especially because it always comes from Damon or Klaus stans. I actually like Caroline and adored Forewood, but I hated how she handled the breakdown of their relationship. I blame the writers. They continuously tanked Caroline's character in order to get views with klaroline.
I love Cami and she is the one character that I truly believe has done no wrong. Cami was truly a turning point for Klaus. Cami was not only an important person for Klaus but for the entire Mikaelson family and the entirety of New Orleans. I also wrote about that recently. But yes, 100% of the hate she gets is because of Klaroline stans. I used to be indifferent to Klaroline. Like I don't like them because they are toxic and I would never ship them, and there are plenty of ships I feel this way about, but the fandom has made me actively dislike them. Klaroline had no possible way of working out and was just lust, but people build them up in their head and then attacked and harassed a real life person because of their delusions.
I'm glad you found my post and enjoyed it! I love finding people that want to engage and have actual discussions about the fandom. Too many people get so set in their views and can't discuss the characters without getting angry. I completely agree. We can all love the characters but 99% of the characters in this show are problematic to say the least. We can love them and still acknowledge this. I love to analyze the morality of the show because it is interesting as we can't use are real life standards to do so. I obviously love over analyzing everything about the show as I spend so much time doing so.
Feel free to ask anything or reach out!

"Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do."
Possibly one of the most iconic lines in the entire series. I think what gets me so much with this line is it means so many things at once. You have the most surface level interpretation. It's very similar to the phrase "Chivalry is dead," so there's already a fundamental understanding for the audience. The famous and chivalrous Knights Radiant of old have betrayed humanity millennia ago and now we see a society that supposedly prides itself on being civilized and honorable squabble for cheap victories and try to carry out genocide while being far too willing to throw their allies to the wolves should it be convenient.
Next is the fact that Honor is the name of their God. It's not just saying that no one is kind anymore. The literal manifestation and personification of trust is dead, and that knowledge is at this point in the narrative, only one person truly knows this, and it's the person being spoken to. It also ties into the common real world phrase of "God is dead," while famously attributed to Friedrich Nietzsche, has been used before and since his original quote. Used to describe the events of the Enlightenment shedding humanity's need for a deity, which could be applied back to Stormlight as new data granted by scholars reveals how much of the standing Vorin religion was built on lies. Like... every book there's a revelation that takes what we know about the world's history and structure and throws it in the trash. Often multiple.
But then you look at it from a character perspective. Kaladin is a man who has been burned and betrayed time and again. He's stuck his neck out for so many people and tried to help those around him, with a desperate belief that some kind of justice exists in the world, and only once has he been truly repaid for it, which is to Dalinar after the Battle of the Tower.
This scene is where we jump from Adolin and Kaladin being rivals, or simply abrasive to one another, and start to become genuine friends. At this point in the story, he finds Adolin a pompous jackass who parades himself around and only puts up with him because its his literal job to essentially "babysit" him and he has a high opinion of his father. Even after their encounter with Szeth, where they develop a begrudging respect regarding the other's skills, they still have yet to become truly friendly. And yet after seeing the man get shoved between a rock and a hard place, fighting for his fucking life while everyone just stands by and watches, Kaladin's the only one who stands up for him,* and jumps in to help the man against the most dangerous weapons that currently exists, knowing very well if he's not fucking careful, he can easily die, even with his magical healing.
And there's the aftermath, the boon scene often regarded as one of the most cringeworthy moments in the series, yet still pivotal to the narrative, we see Kaladin, after doing something so fucking impressive get knocked back down, and tossed aside by society because of his class, nearly executed because of a social faux pas. And while Dalinar fumbles quite a bit, still protecting Kaladin but also greatly harming his relationship with him, we see Adolin repay him, stand up and go "this isn't right" and trudge straight to prison with Kaladin because of it.
This action is especially important because Adolin himself was betrayed by one of his so called friends, who joined the duel against him. This duel made Adolin realize just how alone he truly was, despite being a trained socialite and heir to the Kholin Princedom. This one quote is slipping me, but it's Adolin reflecting his relationships with the other lighteyes, those he might label as friends and realizing how little any of them actually cared about him as a person.
I can go on easily (like more into Dalinar and Amaram's place with the scene), and I invite others to pitch in. This line and scene is just so saturated with significance. It is still to this day one of--if not, the--most iconic scenes in the entire series. In terms of absolute scale, not that big of scope especially when compared to the other big battles in the series--a fight involving 7 people total, but in regards of individual characters, it means everything.
*and Renarin, which of course I could never forget but standing up for that kid is hardly a dilemma. The correct answer yes, do it every time.
