Do you think the Mikaelsons would have had different dynamics if they weren't born in that order? Like if Klaus was older than Elijah, or Rebekah older than them?
Tumblr media
I think it could make some slight differences but I also think a lot of their behavior is just their personality/trauma responses.
For example, Elijah's behavior has more to do with what was happening in their family while he was born/young rather than his birth order. How Elijah behaves, he seems like he would be an eldest child, but he is actually a middle child. However, because his family had lost Freya and was going through a turbulent time, a lot of pressure and responsibility was put on him. He steps up and acts like the oldest sibling.
Same thing with Rebekah. Yes, she is the baby and often acts like it and is treated like it from her siblings. However, it is also because they had lost Freya and she was the only girl. Even if she had been born the oldest, they still would have treated her like the baby if they had lost Freya. She also lived through a lot of time periods where women were treated as second class citizens and that affects how she interacts with the world and even how her siblings view her.
Kol would be Kol no matter where he was born. He has a very independent nature and likely wouldn't have stepped up if he was the oldest. Not because he can't handle responsibility, but because he wouldn't allow his siblings to be pawned off on him like Elijah did. He probably would have taken off earlier if he had been the oldest.
Finn never acted like the oldest sibling. A big part of this is because he was traumatized as a youngest sibling. He loved Freya and clearly holds onto those memories, when he was the youngest with a big sister looking after him. After he lost Freya and became a big brother, he never took on the role of the big brother. Rather he behaved as if he was an only child. If he had been born last, maybe he would have felt closer to his family because he wouldn't be so traumatized by losing Freya and wouldn't have developed an unhealthy attachment to his mother. But it was that trauma that influenced him more than his birth order.
Freya is an interesting one because, while she is the oldest, she is also the youngest. Yes, she was born first, but she also has the least amount of life experience. Even Finn was awake more than her over the thousand years. I wish the show would have played more into this. She wanted to be the oldest and take on the responsibilities of the family but she didn't know how. The family was so used to letting Elijah fill that spot that they had trouble letting Freya take over. Freya does have a take charge personality so even if she had been born last or in the middle, she likely would still partner up with Elijah to take care of the rest of them.
Klaus is the only one who really felt like his birth order. He is very much the stereotypical middle child. He loves to boss his baby siblings around but also loves to sit back and let his older siblings clean up his mess. Although, I don't think him being born in a different order would affect his behavior. A lot of the time he is pretending to be the "leader" of the family while Elijah is handling things behind the scene. He is also very much treated like the baby of the family by Elijah and Rebekah and even Freya at times. A lot of his behavior is from how Esther and Mikael treated him as a child. Esther seemed to baby him and, of course, Mikael abused him. This dynamic stunted his emotional growth. And again, this wasn't because of his birth order but because of his parents.
Thanks for the ask!

Hey! Im so happy there is a Klonnie blog! If it was Bonnie that had the miracle baby instead of Hayley, what would their fancast be? Also what ideas do you have for klonnie baby names? (assuming they dont just go with Hope)
glad there’s a fandom to boost up this ship with! I’m going to take a page out some of my mutuals book and go with Bailey Bass. I can see earthy-themed, cottagecore, old-school, classical and Nordic names for their child.
On to Bailey’s casting she has Kat's heart shaped face and JM's dimples. Kat/Bonnie's brown/green eyes. She’s a good cast. She’s already played a vampire before as Claudia. Here’s some visuals.

Getting out of the taxi, Y/N took in a deep breath whilst looking around the fascinating streets of New Orleans. She had only been here a few times, long before the city was founded. So, saying the place had changed would be underestimating.
It was almost dark outside, and she couldn't wait to have a shower and get some sleep. The flight she had booked was early in the morning, so she had spent many hours in the air just to get here.
Taking her bags out of the car, Y/N slowly made her way inside the hotel she had booked a room in. The hotel itself wasn't anything special and it wasn't one of the best places to stay in the city. But she liked the simple, rather than the extravagant places, so this would be just perfect for her.
It was now early in the morning when Y/N was getting ready for her day. She had decided that she'd spend the few days she was staying in the city, exploring, and collecting little souvenirs for her home in Europe, instead of sulking and rotting in the bed of her hotel room. Y/N didn't like traveling so far away from home much, as she loved the comfort of it, but whenever she did, collecting things that would catch her eye was like a tradition for her. Her house was full of colorful toys, rugs, all kinds of weird cutlery and even furniture, all of which she had gotten from her travels.
Putting on her coat and grabbing her bag, she made her way out of the room, and outside into the streets of New Orleans.
After strolling around the more modern part of the city, Y/N decided to go to the famous French Quarter, as she had heard many good things about it. At least more good than bad, as the place was known for the wicked vampires and witches who somehow never could make peace between their communities.
The place was truly beautiful, she had to admit. The buildings, the people, the jazz music, which she didn't like much, but it was still charming in a way.
But as she was walking around the streets, simply just admiring the place like a kid would admire a toy store, Y/N couldn't get of the feeling that someone was following her.
Sure, she was known for being a little too paranoid at times, but this time she really couldn't find out why. A thousand questions were running in her mind: Was it because of the stories she had heard about this place? Were the witches trying to get her for being in their territory? The fear was slowly building up as the paranoia was taking over her mind.
Taking a deep breath, she slowly made her way into an alleyway and looked around, just to make sure she was alone.
Just as she was about to open her bag, a man appeared in front of her. And as she was about to speak, the unfamiliar man broke her neck, and her world went dark.
Slowly waking up, a quiet groan escaped Y/N's lips. She figured it had to be from getting her neck broken. As the realisation kicked in, she opened her eyes and looked around.
She was in a big room, big windows letting the bright sun lighten the space. The room itself didn't have much furniture nor people in it. She looked down at herself and saw that she was tied down to a chair, and from the burning that she felt, it was obvious that the ropes were soaked with vervain. Great.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she managed to speak up.
''Hello? Is- is there anyone?''
She had to admit, she was scared to death right now. She had never really been in any situations like this up until now. She had never gotten attacked by anyone and it's been a few good centuries since anyone has broken her neck. The worst feeling was the anxiety she was feeling at that very moment.
How could she be this stupid? She was such an old vampire and she always let her fears get the worst out of her at the worst moments. Like this one. Y/N thought that this would be the day she'd die.
She was so lost in her thought, she didn't even notice the man that was now standing behind her.
''What do we have here?''
Hearing the deep voice behind her out of nowhere, made her squeak and close her eyes tightly, trying to control her breathing. She was a scaredy cat and at that moment she felt more embarrassed than afraid.
''Who are you? What do you want with me?''
The question started flying out of her mouth as she tried to get a better look at the man behind her.
''The more important question is, who are you? And what are you doing here?''
Just as Y/N was about to answer his questions out of fear for her life, she heard another man walking into the room. Of course, she couldn't see him either and the only thing she could hear now, was the quiet mumbling between the two of them.
Y/N swore that the voice of the man who had just walked in was one she had heard before. She just couldn't place where.
She looked down at her hands, trying to pull them out of the ropes, even though she knew it was of no use. She hissed at the burning feeling and clenched her jaw. Y/N was getting angry now. She had done nothing wrong to deserve this.
''Hello? If you won't tell me what you want, just let me go! I have done nothing to you!''
As she looked up, with the corner of her eye saw one of the men making his way over to her. He stood in front of her and looked her up and down, and Y/N swore she could feel the judgment in his eyes.
''Quick change of attitude, I see?''
The man was tall, with dark skin and sharp face. His expression wasn't giving anything out, and she couldn't read him.
''Look, I only-''
She stopped mid-sentence as the other man now stood in front of her, too. Memories started flooding her mind as she stared up at him. It had been centuries since she last saw him.
The one and only, Elijah Mikaelson.
He was looking at her, like he had just seen a ghost. His brows were furrowed, and his lips were parted, as he was sucking in a breath.
Before either of them could make a sound, the dark-haired man that stood next to Elijah, spoke up first.
''I'm guessing the two of you know each other. Care to explain, Elijah?''
Y/N clenched her jaw tightly, looking away from them without a saying a word. She was getting overwhelmed with all the memories that were coming back. She had been keeping them locked at the back of her mind, as they were too painful. It had taken her decades to get over what had happened. In all honesty, she never truly got over it, but at least she managed to control the thoughts.
''Marcel, would you be so kind and leave us.''
She heard the man, whose name apparently was Marcel, sigh with a hint of annoyance before slowly making his way out of the room.
Y/N reluctantly looked up at Elijah again, her jaw still clenched tight. He looked so different since the way time she saw him, yet still the same in a way. The only obvious changes were, of course, his clothes and his hair style.
''Y/N, this is- a really unexpected surprise.''
She scoffed as she heard his words. Using the word 'unexpected' was a funny way to describe it.
''Then let me go, and we can all continue with our day, peacefully.''
''I'm afraid I can't do that. Just yet.''
''You cannot be serious, Elijah.''
She was so angry at this point, her blood was boiling. What did he want with her? She knew that he didn't know she was here until he saw her with his own eyes. The shocked face he had made told her everything she needed to know.
''Just let me go. I don't know why your friend had to snap my neck and bring me here, but I assure you, I have done no wrong to him!''
Elijah had a small smile dancing on his lips as she chuckled at her words lightly.
''What's so funny?''
''I'm just- I am at loss of words. You've changed so much since the last time we saw each other.''
''I will not sit here and suffer, just because you want to chit chat.''
As she was looking at him, she saw as an emotion flashed in his eyes, but it was gone before she had the chance to figure out what it meant.
Suddenly, he ripped the ropes off her hands and threw them down on the ground.
Y/N quickly stood up and took a few steps backwards, needing space from him.
''Don't expect a 'thank you'.''
''Why are you here, Y/N?''
Her brows furrowed as she heard his question.
''Excuse me? Suddenly you own the world? I was here on a holiday, and now you have ruined it!''
His face was like a rock. She couldn't figure him out and it was slowly starting to annoy her, along with the other hundred things that were already annoying her.
''No, of course not.''
''Listen, Elijah. I don't want to be around you. So, I will get my things and go back home, and you won't hear or see me ever again. Sounds good? Great!''
Just as she started walking towards the door Marcel had walked out of earlier, figuring that had to be the way out of the building, Elijah appeared in front of her, startling her.
''Jesus-''
''Don't go. Just not yet at least.''
''I don't owe you anything Elijah. And you don't deserve a second of my time. Now get out of my way.''
''Y/N, please, let's talk. Or let me talk. I believe we have much to go through.''
She was looking at him, thinking about his plea. Was she really about to agree with him? She had tried so hard to keep the memories out of her mind, because of how painful they were.
But just like in the past, she really could never say no to him.
Knowing she'd regret it later, she took a deep breath and crossed her arms over her chest, before speaking up.
''Fine, let's talk.''

(The Vampire Diaries) Elijah x female! reader
Warnings : Fluff Summary : Elijah taking care of y/n the morning after her first time, making her breakfast, showing his affection and love. They spend the day together talking about their memories and cuddling. 453
____________________________________________________________
As you slept, Elijah dressed himself up in a simple pants and shirt, then cleaned you up putting you in comfortable clothing not wanting you to get sick from the cold weather. He then laid on the other side of your bed stroking your hair lovingly feeling happy simply because of your presence. It was your first time, Elijah wanted you to feel safe and relaxed. After a few hours of admiring you and holding you close, he noticed the sun shining through a crack in the curtains onto your face and slowly got up to close it. He looks at the clock noticing the time and decides to make his way into the kitchen, but not before tucking you in well and adjusting your head onto the pillow gently placing a kiss on your forehead.
He leaves the room wanting to make you something special, perhaps a classic breakfast. When he started cooking the pancakes and eggs, a warm aroma filled the house. He brewed a coffee just the way you like it and placed it on the tray with the food and utensils, placing it on the nightstand next to your side of the bed. “What’s this?” you perk up forgetting about your sleep the moment you smell the food “I made you breakfast” he smiles at you warmly. “This looks amazing..thank you Eli” you were unable to contain your excitement as you dug into the delicious meal. He looked at you feeling a warm glow in his chest, a deep sense of happiness and love overcame him.
You looked down at yourself in confusion “when did I–” “oh I put you in a new set of clothes so you don't get sick, its been getting really cold recently” he picked up the warm cup of coffee putting it to your lips helping you drink it. “How are you feeling?” he smiled at you not losing eye contact “never been better” you replied taking another bite. “If you’re still feeling sore we could stay in bed and cuddle all day” he took away the tray after you finished your meal and you couldn’t help but smile. “Who would’ve known the one and only Elijah Mikaelson can be this sweet” you joked “Sweet, hm?” he leaned forward giving you a kiss, “come here” he laid back down in his previous spot with his chin on your head. You spent the rest of the day talking about the old memories of when you two first met and silly encounters you’ve had ever since.
You were glad he chose to spend today with you, he made you feel safe and you weren’t as worried and scared as you were the night before.

LOVE your answers and would also love to hear more about why you love Tyler! He's not at all the kind of character I usually love---I like softer, awkward nerds lol---and he was gross in his S1 interactions with Vicki, but I ended up loving him and Forwood became my OTP. I'd love to hear what you see as Tyler's strengths and why he and Caroline are the perfect match :)
Hi anon! Sorry I’m only formulating my response to this now 😭 I forgot- but…
Tyler isn’t generally the kind of character I adhere to either! So it’s a surprise for me that not only do I love him, but he’s my favorite character from the tvdu. Now this can be easily attributed to his growth (I did NOT like him in season one- and watching the start of that season even knowing where he ends up hurts). His character growth is so beautiful- because you can watch 1x01 and see how he treats his friends and Vicky and it all makes sense, he’s still the same guy from the later seasons. This is because they never try and change him, or even try to absolve his sins. Instead he’s given a realistic growth arc- in which he confronts his issues and their roots and works on them. Not only this but his interactions with his friends and family change along the way, his openness and his kindness shining through. On top of that his character has a very relatable and solid understanding of reality, he understands nuances rather easily and has emotional competency not too many of the other members have (not that they lack it- just they lack the same level of self introspection).
Tyler knows his limits, he understands how far his growth has reached and how much further he has to go. And sets clear boundaries in his relationships not just to protect those relationships and himself, but to acknowledge how far he has come with his anger and trauma and how much further he has left to go.
So for his strengths I will always claim his emotional competence and his heart are what makes it. Because he has a good heart- even if he doesn’t know how to use it or listen to it at the start of the show. Then there’s his level headedness and overall social intelligence, which makes him a great pack leader and an asset to the cast.
As for his relationship with Caroline I think it’s their special blend of communication that sold it for me. Because they are so emotionally open and push each other to grow into better people.

Anon from the previous ask.
You know what else I noticed when I rewatched s3?How Klaroline has no beginning.Where is the foundation?Out of nowhere,Klaus decided to play the hero AFTER putting Caroline at death's door using his sire bond with her boyfriend and then next thing you know, three episodes later, she was his invitee at a dance where he spent the entire evening either gloating about the fact that she wore his dress & jewellery or talking about himself, his paintings, his dead pony or beguiling her with the offer to take her on a world tour. The scenes were incredibly creepy and the dialogues were beyond awful.Klaus was verbally pitching the idea to us why Caroline fit the role of "you are beautiful. You are strong. You are full of light".How exactly did Klaus know all of these about Caroline?Did this happen during the imaginary time he spent falling in love with her that the writers couldn't bother to show because "hashtag twitter trends forever" or did the shine from the bracelet obstruct their ability to see the obvious lack of narrative consistency and subtlety in this epic *bleh* romance ,that they were trying to sell? What happened to the outright villain,Klaus Mikealson , who had Katherine Pierce running for 500 years?Instead,he came off as a generally pathetic stalker who was romanticised to no end.I swear Klaroline is the terrible Wattpad version of Delena or worse Daroline that should have never seen the light of the day.
P.S: Thank You yet again for patiently reading and responding to my asks.
Oh, yes.  I remember. Caroline and Klaus hardly interacted before Klaus started pursuing her. There wasn’t any foreshadowing. There wasn’t any build-up. Klaus wasn’t shown pining for Caroline. Just out of nowhere, Klaus had a thing for her. Not a lot of planning went into Klaroline. It just happened. Klaus needed a date to the dance and Caroline was available.
That was clue number 1 that Klaroline was never going to develop into a serious relationship btw. The TVD writers knew how to foreshadow important plot developments. They did it incredibly well with Steroline (and if I’m being honest – Delena 🫣). But Klaroline didn’t get the same treatment. Their relationship was never intended to last.
P.S: Thank You yet again for patiently reading and responding to my asks.
You’re welcome. And thank you for sending them.

Klaus Mikaelson 7
...the scene that I think adds depth to their character or the relationship this character has with someone.
I think when we find out that he's been keeping his family in the coffins and essentially travelling with them. It is so human of him to long for his family expressed in such an otherworldly, vampiric way. Because what is being a vampire if not an inability to let something go? After all, vampires are unable to let their mortality go. Clinging on to life so viciously in their immortality that they would consume from those still living just to sustain them.
That desire to hold on perverts them. Twists them and taints any human expression they may have left. Klaus loves his family and to humans that love looks like possession and obsession and control but to him it is love and loyalty.
When Klaus first appears in the show, he's a mystery. An evil man who wants to kill Elena for his evil reasons. This tidbit of knowledge we get about him is the first glimpse into his rotting chain to his own humanity.
And it's that humanity that makes him even more monstrous than he could ever be without it.

Many Caroline fans are always calling Elena a "bitch" for falling in love with Damon even though (according to them) Elena was aware of the sexual abuse Caroline suffered when she was under Damon's compulsion. However, I see virtually no Caroline fans complaining about how fucking selfish and cruel Caroline was to have sex with Klaus, even though he was responsible for making Elena's life a living hell. Not only did he kill Jenna in front of Elena, but he also tried to kill Jeremy, KILLED ELENA in the ritual, forced Isobel to kill herself in front of Elena for the sheer cruelty of doing so, and also made Tyler his slave and then killed Carol.
And in fact, Elena is ALSO another r@pe victim of Damon. I have nothing against Caroline, but her fans are extremely sexist and even misogynistic when it comes to Elena or even Bonnie.
Trigger Warning : Discussions of non-con, abuse.
Okay, first of all, hello, I got this ask such a long time back, and I'm really sorry about how long it has taken me answer it.
So, I wanna break this down before I answer this. All three of them - Bonnie, Caroline and Elena are victims of the vampires on the show. And pretty much everyone on the show has been wronged by someone or the other, even Klaus. All I'm trying to say is that the show itself pits a lot of victims, especially female victims, against each other. Mostly in order to prop up men, which is why I think that TVD is rooted in misogyny.
So I'm not going to blame either Caroline or Elena, but the message you sent is very compelling, and I want to dissect it a bit.
The 'Delena' of it
Let's get to the root of it - is Elena selfish for loving Damon? I recently saw a similar question on Reddit (two minutes of silence for the time I waste lurking on that site), and I honestly could not even read it, because of some of the takes I saw. But the root of it is this - Elena is traumatised teenager trying to hold on to every last person she has left.
I saw a meta about Elena having prolonged grief, and I agree, it feels as if her grief and her survivors guilt, is almost pathological. Within the show, she seeks one particular thing from her parter - immortality. Her entire family, with the exception of Jeremy, is dead. Of these she has seen her parents, Isobel and Jenna die in front of her. It is not only grief that she feels over these losses, it's also helpless, desperation, and a lot of trauma. In these situations, she essentially a person watching a train crash - on the sidelines, desperate to help them and save them, but helpless to do so.
Because of this trauma, she seeks to include people in her life that are immortal, and hard to kill. Be it Stefan, Damon, Caroline and Bonnie who's a powerful witch, as opposed to sending away Jeremy - someone who's mortal and can be hurt. She actively keeps an inner circle of supernatural beings around her because it's hard to lose them, and tries to distance the mortal ones - like Matt and April.
So it makes sense, that when she feels that she can't be with Stefan any longer, she is drawn towards Damon. Damon who takes the notion of death lightly, and plays with it, and has survived a lot. (A lot of this has to do with the sire bond, but we'll get into that some other day). But as it is, Elena feels safe with Damon because he is tough to kill, and it isn't selfish for anyone, let alone her, to seek security within a relationship. And to her, security is to not go through that grief or pain again.
Damon and his abuse of Caroline
Having said what I just did about Elena feeling secure with Damon, that's mainly according to her priorities and her specific trauma. Because yes, watching someone die, or being a spectator to trauma is also traumatic.
But, Damon isn't really safe, for anyone. Not even Elena. But he was particularly unsafe for Caroline. When we first see Damon meet Caroline, we see him charming her (because a seventeen year old girl is easy to charm), we see him flirting with her and going back to sleep with her. The scene then cuts to Damon biting Caroline and feeding on her - in the middle of sex. And she is traumatised, at which point he compels her and presumably this goes on. In the morning, she tries to run, he compels her again and then they go back out, behaving like a couple.
Now, the show runners themselves have never, ever acknowledged this as rape but it is rape. And we can see that, but Caroline never calls it rape - because she can't, and every time, Damon's abuse of Caroline is brought up, it is called abuse. It's said that Caroline is Damon's 'blood bag', she herself says that and calls herself his errand boy, but nobody ever calls it rape.
When Elena asks Stefan what Damon is doing to Caroline, he says that Damon is compelling her to feed on her. And we never see Elena and Caroline talking about it. So, in terms of the material that we have been presented with, we can conclude that Elena doesn't realise that Damon raped Caroline, because here's the thing, nobody on the show ever calls it rape. Not just in regards to Damon and Caroline, but in regards to Damon and Andy as well. Or Katherine and Stefan.
In a nutshell, TVD has a lot of consent issues, and straight up non-con, but it never addresses that, the narrative itself doesn't, and so we cannot hold a single character responsible for not seeing it. And if we can, then where is this energy when it comes to holding Stefan responsible for enabling Damon? Or Alaric - the grown man who hangs out with a rapist?
The 'Klaroline' of it
Klaus is the worst. He's a killer, he enjoys physically and psychologically torturing people, he literally enslaved his hybrids, then killed said hybrids just because they wanted to be free, killed his mother (who admittedly isn't mother of the year either), carted his siblings in boxes, and laughed when Finn expressed his trauma from being daggered for nine hundred years. Klaus is horrible, but he's arguably one of the best characters on the show, and is probably the best villain.
But he showers Caroline with affection. A lot of it, I think at least at the beginning, is love bombing. And while Caroline isn't amused by it, she is a little enamoured by it. She really is attracted to him, and doesn't like it. The thing is, Klaus is a lot like Damon, but he also cares about Caroline, and saves her life. Caroline is also traumatised, and has this belief that she'll never be anyones first priority - and I'll be absolutely clear on this, I'm not saying that Caroline isn't anyone's first priority, I'm saying that Caroline thinks so, and whether it's true or not isn't relevant to this particular conversation.
But Klaus at certain points, prioritises Caroline. And she's enamoured by this. When they fuck in the woods, he is only there for a day, and she wants to fulfil her desires, and maybe, get it out of her system, see what it's like. But, and I'm not sure of this, I haven't seen it discussed anywhere nor do I know Caroline's character enough to know if this is true, but I think sleeping with Klaus is Caroline's way of feeling in control.
Klaus is a lot worse than Damon, and she wants to feel in control with him, the kind of control she never had with Damon, as part of a trauma response. I'm not saying it's only a trauma response, but that part of it is. It's okay if anyone disagrees with this, or anything in this post, but this is my opinion. But, in either case, I'm not going to call it selfish.
There is a larger discussion here about what is selfishness, and it's always bad to be selfish, and whether or not a character being selfish should be a hindrance to liking them, but I digress. That's for another discussion.
Damon and his abuse of Elena
In episode 1x03 or 1x04 of TVD, Damon compels Elena to kiss him, but she's wearing vervain, so she doesn't get compelled. But honestly, Damon was so in love with Katherine, that he could've done anything to Elena simply because they look alike. In s2, he tries to break her hand, and physically abuses her, and throughout her relationship with Stefan and s3, he continually hits on her. In the end, she has no choice but to accept his behaviour.
In s4, he tricks her into blood sharing, and sleeps with her when she's sired to him. It's definitely sexual abuse, dub-con at best, but it isn't discussed because that clusterfuck of a plot point, the sire bond, is fucking weird. Elena is basically enslaved to Damon, like the hybrids are to Klaus, and no consent in this situation can ever be freely given.
So, I agree, Damon abuses Elena but it is never addressed, because the sire bond is presented, according to narrative, as a romantic thing.
In conclusion, a lot of TVD is rooted in misogyny, in fact the entire concept of 'who deserves Elena' is highly misogynistic because it treats Elena as an object to be coveted rather than a person. And so, it makes that quite a few fans are also misogynistic, but there's nothing we can do about it. Like I understand your frustration, and I'm right with you about Elena being hated for the most ridiculous reason, and I wish there was something we could do about it, but there isn't.
Thank you so much for sending this ask, it got me thinking about a lot of things, especially cause I'm neither a Klaroline nor a Delena shipper.

Do youn think Esther loved all of her children equally and how her relation with Elijah was?
Tumblr media
I think Esther is a lot more of a complex character than people want her to be. It's easier if she can just be painted as an awful mother. But it is clear Esther did love her kids, all of them. Just differently. I don't think you can truly measure love in quantity, but she definitely had favorites and least favorites.
Esther loved Freya so much that losing Freya fundamentally changed who she was. She wanted to be a mother so badly that she was willing to do anything to make it happen. People often blame her more for trading Freya for the ability to have children, but don't blame Dahlia for making her own sister trade away her first child. Esther was young when she made that deal and didn't fully know what it meant. She also probably naively believed her sister wouldn't steal her child. But she loved Freya dearly.
Esther also loved Finn a great deal however their relationship grew twisted and toxic because of the loss they both shared. She essentially trauma bonded with her four year old child. Finn's trauma is rarely discussed but it is clear that his mother became his safety after losing Freya. He would do anything for her and Esther exploited this at times and even used him for emotional support. She did love Finn, but the trauma colored that love.
Elijah is her least favorite child. She basically admits it when she tells Klaus that he brought joy to their lives and made them a family again after losing Freya. She was heavily pregnant with Elijah when she lost Freya meaning Elijah's birth and multiple years of life did not bring their family joy or make them feel like a family. Although it's important to remember that while pregnant, she lost her child and moved across the ocean to a new land where she was alone with a volatile husband as this was also the period where Mikael starts becoming a bad/potentially abusive husband. I can't imagine she didn't experience some level of post-partum depression after having him. To top it off, Elijah favors Dahlia more than either of his parents. He likely reminded her of her sister and everything she had lost.
She views Elijah as more of a second parent. She expects him to always behave and keep his siblings in line. When the others step out of line, she has more sympathy for them. She offers Finn, Kol, Klaus, and Rebekah second chances in witch bodies but tortures Elijah, mocking him for what he is and that he is no longer her "noble son." We never see any exchanges between Elijah and Esther that have any type of warmth. This doesn't mean she didn't love him, but hey have a very strained/neglectful relationship.
Klaus is her favorite child. He was the only child she had with the man she truly loved. Even though Klaus seemed to get the brunt of Mikael's anger, he also gets the most protection from Esther. To the point that Finn is jealous of this attention. Klaus arguably did the absolute most vile deeds that should disgust Esther but she still showed love and compassion to him. He was the problematic child that could do no wrong.
Kol is pretty low on the ranks but still above Elijah simply because he had magic. Esther would have wanted to pass on her magic somewhere even is she wasn't truly practicing. She would have loved it but also feared it. Kol would have also driven her crazy because he was always so independent and often getting in trouble.
Rebekah has a special place in her mother's heart as the only daughter she had after losing Freya. It would have been painful at first as she looked so much like the child Esther lost, but she would have viewed it as a second chance. Rebekah always had a soft spot for Esther and losing her mother devastated her.
Henrik is pretty high at the top simply because he is the youngest. Henrik seemed to have a happy spirit from the few brief moments we see him. The baby of the family is always special. His death sent Esther into such a spiral that she created vampirism.
None of this means I think Esther is an awful mother. There are definitely terrible things she does, but at the end of it, she truly loved her children. Was she the best mother in the word, no. But we have to remember she was a young woman who was also a victim.
Thanks for the ask!

They already destroyed the vampire diaries universe the moment they made it a universe and honestly who cares about delena kid if anyone asked delena shippers if they could have delena or their kid we all know what the answer would be a random kid can't hold anyone's interest so I don't know why julie plec kidding with another show just let the universe die already
I absolutely agree, Julie needs to just let it go already. Her 5 minutes (all credit to Kevin Williamson) is gone.

It’s said that Kol always had an affinity for witches (romantic or platonic), what do you think their relationship would be like if Bonnie was with Klaus? I don’t expect her to play therapist for anyone, ESPECIALLY that family, but I think Klaus and Kol could bond over her. He could also probably help her with her witchcraft as well.
Klaus had an affinity for witches too word to Joseph. Katherine and Isobel gossiped about his taste in witches. I could see them(Kennett) being great friends longterm, it’s insane they were on the other side together and it is Bonnie who rejected the idea of teaming up. When she previously teamed up with Elijah in the past to fight Klaus. I imagined Kennett having a similar friendship to later seasons Bamon. Hear me out even early seasons Stefonnie. Bonnie never had any real longterm help when it came to magic. She loved to meet other witches like Liv and was bonding well with Nora after they became friends. Bonnie wanted to see Lucy again and have that magical bond with someone. Lucy implied there’s a different feeling when Bennett witches are around each other. That’s so unique.
Everyone in the MFG eventually has some friend outside of the main group but Bonnie. If the originals can be friends with normal people like:Cami, I don’t see why Bonnie is so unacceptable to certain fans. Rebekah and Matt even dated yet Bonnie couldn’t have a friendship with one of them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kennett was another ship that was just thrown away for Bonnie in favor of a white woman. I remember seeing headcanons for Kennett as the show aired, only for it to never come to fruition and used for Kolvina’s gain. Julie said Bonnie was too good for Kol(and by extension the other men) but never was Davina, Elena, Caroline or Hayley.
My anons are backed up due to work and school. I will be answering everything.

What did you think of them bringing Kai back for a little bit in legacies?
Ooof! I have so many mixed emotions about Kai coming back for legacies. On one hand, I was glad to have him back; on the other, I was scared because I don't have the highest opinion of legacies. Of course, though, I watched his couple of episodes and it was more or less as expected.
So first, I liked the build-up, starting with Penelope learning about the merge. I liked the three second shot of Kai on a video camera that MG needed to use. And, I liked Josie finally learning about her "crazy uncle Kai," while Ric was trying hard to hold back this rather significant information from his daughters.
But then all the build-up went nowhere; there was no crazy reveal, nor outburst of emotion, it just smoothed itself out very gently, and certainly, very un-Gemini like. We saw some sassiness out of Josie towards Ric, but not much at all out of Lizzie. Josie actually meeting Kai was probably the opposite of what was expected. She was calm and teamed up with him over her own father, despite fearing the man for what her father told her about Kai and her biological mother (Jo). Kai, of course, was fully entertained by Josie's decision to trust him, and he toyed with her a lot, which was very in-character. He was less violent, however, and rather underwhelming.
Josie, at this point, had already met Jo, and greatly cherished the short bit of time they had together. So why would she team up with Kai, knowing what he did, as told to her by her father? It was just odd to me.
As for the Jade relationship part, that was also strange. I was already weirded out by Jade and Josie having a thing, despite her being Josie's babysitter. Kai didn't seem to have any attachment to Jade whatsoever; he was bored and curious, she was too, and they had nothing else to do in that prison world. I mean, good on him for finally losing his virginity, but it just seemed like filler detail. The whole hunger games concept was kind of cool; the fact that they hunt each other for sport, for fun. Because what else is there to do in an empty world where you can't die? That part was in-character, which I appreciated. And it's nice to know he's had some entertainment in his eternity of hell.
Shifting the topic, though, to the Malivore plotline... I already think the whole Malivore thing is stupid; Kai jumping into the pit and everyone forgetting who he is (but then somehow remembering again) was so terribly annoying, I didn't even want to finish the episodes. I'm glad he got out of the prison world, I just wish that whole plotline didn't exist, and I think he would've been smart enough to find an alternative method. However, I did like him giving Josie the ultimatum to "go dark" or to forget her options on getting out. I feel like Josie was on the path to darkness already - those two twins are both more like Kai than they'll ever know - and he just gave her a little push. Bitter, tired of being in prison worlds, bored Kai would 100% set his niece (whom he tried to kill twice) up in such a tricky situation and then bail, and I love that for him.
Despite me being stale about the Malivore inclusion in Kai's eps, I continued watching.
His bit of showing up to the Salvatore school was funny. I had really missed his instigating and banter with the people around him. The bits about Ric's wedding and the ascendant having a specific tune made me laugh, as did him taking his father's name to put up the act. Also, the careless beheading of the teddy bear. 😂
The following scene, however, when he fought Hope, was upsetting. Hope is strong, but not coven-leader-heretic strong, so her taking him down with little to no effort bugged me. Granted, it's somewhat untrained tribrid vs unsocialized heretic, so they both have advantages and disadvantages, but seeing how big and bad Kai was in season 6, taking her out should've been no problem. Kai with access to magic plus being undead would've made him stronger than he was just as a siphon witch, but they made him almost incapable in Legacies.
Furthermore, he didn't even seem that vengeful, which is wildly uncharacteristic. Post-1994 and post-1903, he raised absolute hell, but post-2018, he just seemed a little bored. If they were going to keep him as a villain and continue to revoke a redemption, they should've made him a real, fear-worthy villain. Not a less-than-intimidating "crazy uncle" with mismatched socks. (I adore his mismatched socks, but they only contributed to making the scary tvd villain into a watered down version that was appropriate for the younger-aged viewers that Legacies had.)
now, spoilers
At the end, when Ric kills him off for good, it was a hard watch. It was bad enough to watch him die the first time, so this time was even worse. I just felt that it was so uncharacteristic for him to get caught and get killed again. I mean, he's spent years fighting to survive in prison world after prison world, there's no way he'd be that easy to take down after the third escape, and especially now as a heretic. Bonnie getting an advantage on him in season 8, yes, because he had a weakness for her. But his nieces + Jade + Ric? No way.
So, in summary, I was glad to see him, but didn't like what they did to his character. Kai was so much more than the again, "crazy uncle" that Legacies made him out to be. Legacies' viewers, including some of the actors, I feel, don't get to see the side of him that was seen in TVD, where he was a neglected and isolated kid that became driven by a need for revenge (and to prove himself). His backstory isn't really brought up at all, and for someone who studies and adores his character like myself, it's upsetting. It seems like they just wanted him back as another enemy to take down in a day and move on, or to close a plothole that TVD had somewhat left open. It didn't feel like there was any purpose to bring him back other than for entertainment, especially for those who didn't like him or didn't know him at all.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, or I'm too attached to him, but I wasn't a fan of it. I liked seeing him, that was it. But TVD itself was much better at crafting its villains and dividing its fans between "the good side" and "the bad side," (i.e. Damon vs Stefan in s1; Katherine vs the Mystic Falls' gang; Klaus, or Silas vs everyone). Legacies, on the other hand, feels like it pushes for [Saltzmans + the student body] vs [a handful of wacky monsters], and Kai got pulled into the mix. I haven't watched any further episodes since Kai's, and I don't plan on continuing the show. It doesn't measure up to TVD or TO at all, in my opinion.
