Just deleted the ask I was trying to respond to, but re: "skeptics always die in horror movies" - I have mixed feelings on that trope!

On the one hand I think it sets the tone and helps the audience suspend their disbelief - people are always complaining about horror movie characters being idiots, so this can be a way to be like "see? We DID consider rational explanations, and then someone immediately got murdered very supernaturally, so stop asking questions and accept the premise."

On the other hand, I think it definitely contributes to the idea that skeptics are close-minded killjoys who are too stubborn to accept reality, which is a very common and incredibly annoying mindset. Shane Madej did not spend the last eight years marching into haunted houses and loudly demanding that the demons inside kill him for me to still be hearing shit about how "if you don't take the supernatural seriously you will Attract Evil Energies And Die".

#i also can't stand the 'you're acting like a white person in a horror movie!' thing. bestie that was a movie😔it was fictional😔#there's that one really long twitter post by a white lady detailing how she almost bought a haunted house #and listing all the spooky details she didn't even notice until her husband was like 'we are not buying the haunted house'#then bitch move over!!! SOME of us can appreciate having weird creepy heavily-locked doors in our basement #or at the very least we'd open the door. the fact that every archaeologist in the world isn't dead is a good sign demon curses aren't real #skepticism umbrella

Very interesting to me that Abigail preferred Hannibal over Will, but Will had an emotional connection to her that Hannibal didn't - or at least not to the same extent.

I think maybe one day he could've found a stronger bond considering she had also killed and eaten people, but during the series she's really just a tool. Hannibal uses her to like... babytrap Will. And tbf it worked, Will didn't tell Jack what he knew when he discovered Abigail murdered that guy - if he was willing to cover for her, maybe eventually he'd cover for Hannibal too, the 3 of them too intrinsically tied for him to separate, I mean that's the trapping part. But she was just a means to an end, a relationship Hannibal nurtured for his own gain with Will....whereas Will really did view her as his daughter.

Very interesting to me...off-put by Will (especially towards the end of s1), but he had the most vested interest in her well-being out of the pair...

#Thinking abt in s2 when Will still thinks she's dead and asks Freddie not to write about her #And also in s3 when his subconscious takes the form of her #I'm not saying he would have been great or that he's the superior parent or that he's without flaw no no no #(although will graham IS without flaw <33)#But just that he did have a genuine affection for her that Hannibal didnt #Which makes it so much more intriguing that she was always going to Hannibal for things...#Which obviously a lot of that makes sense within the context of him knowing she killed that guy #And her knowing he helped get rid of the body #Like yeah ur both bound by secrets but even THAT was a ploy by Hannibal #But anyway of course you'd go to that person bc that automatically assigns a modicum of trust between you #But she did also just seem to enjoy his company #And listen Will can't be blamed for the end of s1 when he was freaking her out #His brain was literally being boiled in its own juices #He was Not Well #But he was trying #Anyway #Me attempting not to start every post with 'thinking about...'#Several of my drafts start like that and idk what to do #I'm a thinker!! Look before the War Within starts and Anduin gets to work on his Shadowlands gotten trauma and development I need to dunk on him (affectionate) for a quick second okay?

So in Before the Storm he has this line:

"Her [Sylavnas's] eyes narrowed. Anduin knew she understood the lesson of this day's tragic events. She was not universally loved among her people. He was. She ruled with an iron fist. He ruled with compassion. (pg347)"

Which comparatively sure, fair. Sylvanas has just put a hard, murderous, stop to Calia's first attempt at girlbossing and killed about half the desolate council. Before the Storm is what it needed to be for BfA and beyond.

But I would like to point out that earlier in the book we have this:

"Anduin had been informed that negative sentiment was not limited to his advisors. Guards and Shaw's people had reported that there was muttering in some of the taverns and on the streets. The guards had been instructed to interrupt such conversations if they verged on sedition or grew violent. (pg 248)"

Baby boy that is not universally beloved and ruling with compassion. Lol. Lmao even.

I've scrawled all in my copy with little notes and I have a messy word document with rewrite ideas for this 6 (!) year old book. I am excited to see what we have going on under Silithus. In the end WoW is a video game that needs to keep selling and making new storylines.

So, my family is rewatching Rings of Power, and since I’m the one in the family that read The Silmarillion (like a masochist), I’m the one who keeps getting asked all the questions.

took a bunch of clothes to my mom's to wash them since my washing machine is still down and she said 'ill do it dw about it' and threw my favourite white top in with the colours. i no longer have a favourite white top :)
