It was a great season premiere, right? First Adam was staring down the barrell of a gun, and that was A Scene. I held my breath through it all. Then her and his new partner talked about how she watched her partner die, and then... that ending! I kind of knew she was a goner, considering how much spoilers were about that other actress joining the team and nothing about her. But still, the way it happended, and the look on Adam's face? Brilliant. (btw, I'm still bitter his near-death experience only had a one-episode consequences last season, but it was a weird season, so I can forgive it, if they dig into it now ;)
OH it really, really was !!
When we got Adam staring down the barrel of a gun, I was like damn this season is starting off HOT and I thought that would be the peak of the amazingness of the episode. But no... we had THAT ending as well which was just...so fucking good for an ending.
I too knew something would be up with her, depending we had heard nothing about her, but damn, I did not think death (my brain also did forget reading the press release for ep2, otherwise it probably would've lmao) but even if I did, it DEFINITELY did not think like that.
That was cold, shocking to the system in such a very real fashion and oh so devastating for our poor boy Adam.
I really loved how they managed to settle her in within the episode, establish enough backstory and connection (especially to Adam) AND weave in the foreshadowing with the near miss and the talk of her old partner enough to actually make the death hard hitting even though we, the audience, only just met her but without overdoing it and making the episode really clunky, especially as the connection establishment was the b plot to the voight a plot.
And YES I am also still salty his shooting only got briefly touched upon last season but I'm thinking we're going to get something like we got for Kim -- a season later and the long term consequences are showing up, and I'll be really interested in seeing how the situation affects Adam differently.
And I love how the premiere already touched upon the affect of seeing your partner shot, through Adam's facing the gun (which the way he squared up to it even though now he KNOWS what it's like to feel your life fading?? Oof) and him checking on Emily after and now we get to see that becoming Adam's reality, with an extra helping of guilt because he got her into intelligence.
I am a little sad we don't get any Kim during episode 2 to see her being there to be an emotional rock for Adam, even if it's in the background (likewise that we didn't get to get a quick few seconds scene of Kim checking if Adam was a-ok himself after facing the gun this episode) but I think it's pretty clear this will be, or will lead into, Adam's storyline angst this season so hopefully while we won't get her this episode, we will get her later.
(Plus we've seen in the past with Adam that when things like this happen, in the immediate aftermath he likes to throw himself all in and just rage and dwell in his guilt and feelings so I kinda like we'll get to just focus on him this episode feeling all that to really explore how it feels to have your partner shot in the head right next to you).
But I do hope we at least get a mention of Kim (like Kim being that emotional rock for him despite being apart; which she still is because she knows the first hours are just going to be so hectic for Adam and he can't rest until at least initial justice is served for Emily and he'd want her to finish off because she can do all she can from there (except physical intimacy but yes it's different but he DOES still have Kev, and Trudy (and Mack) so he's not going to be deprived of a hug if he so needs it and he's going to be around people he has and can cry around if needed) and her coming home early may just add an unnecessary burden of guilt onto him some more - because we know our boy can really feel that guilt when he gets rolling.
And it's almost more powerful seeing how deep and secure and just loving their relationship is now that they can be there for each other without being in physical proximity. That Kim trusts him to not completely spiral, that they have a support system, that Adam KNOWS he'll get love and affection from Kim just the same even if it's days after the initial trauma so it's not a take this now or not get it at all situation.
I mean, that is, if they have Kim stay at the conference. They could just end up making her get stuck on her way home which is fine I guess.
ANYWAY sorry this took literally a whole week to get around to, I wrote up most of this last week but life really has gotten ahold of me and I didn't have the energy to complete it and I really wanted to make this a detailed answer to you, not just an 'i agree'. Better late than never?
Thank you for asking!!! 💞💞💞

i might be pointing out the obvious here, but i’m rewatching the pitt right now and i just caught the conversation in episode 11 between whittaker and mohan about the drug-seeking patient — whittaker is listing off signs of withdrawal and mohan pointedly lists off three symptoms that langdon was showing (agitation, restlessness, perspiration). i know mohan wasn’t thinking about langdon when she said it but it had to be intentional on the writers’ part. it makes sense why they threw in the interaction between santos and mel where mel points out that he sweats a lot. the comments about him not being able to sit still/having ADHD/trying to leave the room before the moment of silence. his blow-up on santos. i really feel like there will be more conversation in the next two episodes about what’s going on with langdon (potentially his injury too) because he told robby that he wasn’t high at work and the writers are trying to draw attention to the fact that he was exhibiting withdrawal symptoms throughout the shift. also, why don’t i ever hear people talk about robby keeping the pills? really curious to see what will go down there
The writers clearly made a deliberate choice here, both to highlight Frank’s withdrawal symptoms and to reinforce the idea that addiction can affect anyone, even those with stable jobs and family lives. More importantly, it highlights that people struggling with addiction deserve care and that treatment options exist - a stark contrast to Robby’s reaction, i.e., simply dumping Frank on the curb rather than following the proper procedure for handling situations like this that the hospital undoubtedly has.
I have no doubt that, despite being able to rationalize stealing meds and (possibly) tampering with vials, Frank is still at a point where he can draw a line and doesn't take them while working. That’s why he’s going through withdrawal and is visibly in pain (sidestepping, leaning on furniture - @eveningspirit did a fantastic analysis of this).
But the moment that really got me? Right after returning for the MCI, when Robby confronts him, Frank asks for trust. That sealed it for me. There’s clearly more to this story - headcanons aside, they need to have an honest conversation about what’s happening, and I expect that to happen in the next two episodes.

WIP Wednesday
Tagged by the lovely @eveningspirit and @thewildballyntynesgrow! and oh boy have I got a lot of WIPs to go over!
do no harm
this one already has 3 chapters on ao3 and it's about Frank's back injury being worse than he thought and Robby helping him before he turns to drugs
“I’m fine!” He yelled. Dr. Robby’s eyes widened but Frank couldn’t stand to have the man look at him like that. “I was handling it! I could have handled it!” He fought to sit up again, this time powering through the pain. Robby was calling his name, trying to get him to relax, to lay back down, but it only fueled his anger and determination. “I know you think I’m weak now, but I was working on it! I was still able to work! Don’t treat me like I’m sick! Don’t-”
midnight train
This has 2 chapters on ao3 and its Frank having the worst commute of his entire life lol
This was the first concrete evidence that Langdon really was there on the train. While he knew his resident was at the site of this tragedy, seeing proof was a whole different beast. He could no longer try to convince himself that it happened to be another doctor named Langdon on the blue line at the same time Frank would be. There was no denying it now. Robby forced himself to look away.
Now its time for unpublished WIPs!!! I have like 7 so I'll just do the ones I'm furthest along in
The Shoulder One (untitled)
The one where Frank dislocates his shoulder
Frank moved his head to get a better look and oh. His shoulder was definitely not supposed to be there. He felt a rush of dizziness and nausea hit him. He let his head thunk against the floor and let out another groan. “Oh I don't feel good.” Robby was crouching above his head and let out a sarcastic laugh which Frank did not appreciate.
The Seizure One (untitled)
The one where Frank has a seizure (exists in a world without the drug diversion)
Everyone waited with baited breath for something to happen. Langdon was still seizing, lips turning blue from lack of adequate air flow. Mel felt dread begin to descend in her chest. As the seconds passed with no change, Robby spoke. “If he doesn’t respond in the next minute, we’re moving him to a room. Dr. Mohan, please draw up some more diazepam and also a dose of Keppra please. Dana, what’s open?”
The Baclofen Pump One (untitled)
This one is where Frank has a partial spinal cord injury and has a device implanted called a baclofen pump. It's on the stomach and has a catheter that goes into the spinal cord to deliver muscle relaxant directly. The pump malfunctions and accidentally gives Frank too much medication
“Hey SLEEPY HEAD!” Frank jolted upright, looking around frantically. Abbot was staring at him from across the nurses’ station. He had a vaguely amused yet unimpressed expression. “Let’s not be falling asleep, man. It’s morning time!” Frank shook his head to try and wake himself up but found his eyes closing anyway. He tried to pick his head up, but it felt like a bowling ball. His head made contact with the keyboard. “Langdon?” Abbot’s voice sounded a million miles away.
Alright, those are the biggest WIPs I have! Sorry this is so long omg. If you've got this far, thank you so much!!! I've got several others but I haven't gotten them as fleshed out and I didn't want this to be even longer lol
tagging some moots, not sure if all are writers or if they've already been tagged, but viola @ahs0katan, @aflynnwriter, @honorarybimbo, @robbyrobinavitch @drfranklangdon
Also, anyone who wants to do it! If you see my post, please tag me so I can look at y'alls WIPs!!! so good

WIP Wednesday?
I was tagged by @eveningspirit whose fic Inconsistencies I'm lowkey obsessed with.
This comes from Thursday's Child has far to go, a 5-and-1 fic Pitt AU where I whump Frank repeatedly. Physically and emotionally. For fun and catharsis and absolutely no profit.
The scene is in the middle of the last chapter.
His roommate is a guy name Hank who is 47 going on dead. Frank has him pegged for a stent before he’s 50. He’s on crestor, metformin, a beta-blocker, and currently, dilaudid and something else. He’s two days out from a lumbar fusion and decompression, same level, same surgery as Frank. Thirty three years in construction, and then this. He tells Frank everything, in between using his walker to shuffle out for a smoke. He’s smoked four times and peed 12 and Frank had arrived… after lunch and it’s no where near dinner yet, he doesn’t think. Hank goes for his fifteen bathroom trip, and Franks’s spidey senses go off like a fucking gong. “Hey, uh, Hank, what was that last med?” “Pred-i-zomen? Pregnancy zone? Something like that.” Hank drops onto the bed, with a long sigh and takes a pull on his water. “Prednisone?” Frank asks, all too used to playing medication telephone with patients who should know what they’re on and don’t. “Yeah,” Hank says, “Prednisone.” “And the Metformin, that’s for diabetes?” “Yep.” Hank pops the “p”. “I got the sugar.” Frank nods, his brain running faster than it has in months. “Have you, uh, tested your blood sugar recently?” Hank stares at the number. “Huh, 300, never seen it that high before.” The nurse hasn’t either, and so she goes and pages a hospitalist. And possibly an endocrinologist. Frank has seen sugar that high, but only in the cases of DKA that come in. When they’re alone again, Hank rolls over to face Frank. “That was, how did you know?” Frank shrugs, at least as well as a man encased in a back brace and propped on his side with approximately a hundred pillows, can shrug. “You come kind of doctor or something?” Hank demands. “Or something,” Frank agrees.
If Abbot doesn't kidnap a JAG and run away with me; Robby and Santos behave, and no one decides to throw more grenades in my way in the form of Letters of Intent due Friday (as in two days) and I figure out how to make all the data talk, I might actually finish by this weekend.
Not tagging anyone effectively, but I kind of want to see if I can peer pressure @my-dress-is-on-fire. (No worries if not!) Also, @eveningspirit for next week.

So, @drmelking and @eveningspirit have been having a conversation about whether and how Santos may have been manipulative during the 1.09 confrontation with Langdon, and I want to tag in for a minute on this one, but the thread is getting long, so I thought I'd make another post.
I'm also one of the people who accused Santos of manipulating Langdon, firstly because a lie is an attempt at manipulation. It just is, full stop. You're trying to get someone to do something or to react in some way that you don't think they'd do if you told them the truth.
Digging deeper, while I agree with @eveningspirit on this:
At the same time, those witnesses may see who he really is. That he dislikes her. Unfairly. It's her chance.
I don't think the lie Santos tells was instinctive. It's too targeted for the response she needs from Langdon for there to be no calculation in it - in the specific lie that flips Santos' decision with Mohan's, that flips saline for Ativan + Keppra. The fact that she's taking on blame for not calling Langdon back into the room is ultimately far less important than the fact that she's shifting responsibility for what could have been a lethal mistake if it hadn't turned out to be a Hail-Mary save.
I could maybe be convinced that part of what's going on is that she's protecting herself from danger, although my impression was that it's less immediate/physical danger than the danger of Langdon getting her kicked out of the residency program. My impression was that this lie was mainly about proving that Langdon's unfairly got it in for her, and not only will he yell at her for doing the same thing that he wouldn't yell at someone else for doing, but that he'll actually praise someone else for doing the same (risky, non-protocol) thing he would reprimand Santos for. So, success! She manipulated him into exposing that, not only to her, but in front of a half-dozen witnesses - including Mohan, who now feels aggrieved on her behalf and is a potential new ally, conveniently replacing Garcia.
The fact that Mohan is a third-year resident who Langdon's worked with and knows - and who's had those hundreds of hours of simulation training plus experience with real patients that Langdon ends up yelling about - compared to an unknown who's literally nine hours into her first shift as a doctor, who Langdon has responsibility for despite having no real feel for her knowledge, instincts and decision-making capabilities yet, and who in fact has repeatedly shown that she's so terrifyingly over-confident that she'll just give orders without touching base with her senior resident so that he could not only teach her but try to correct mistakes before they happen - none of that context occurs to her, because of course it doesn't (because she wouldn't be the character she is, if it did). But I think this is part of why Langdon isn't giving her the chances he's giving Mel, who not only has more experience, but more importantly, who started their relationship by being honest about her own emotional reactions and by coming to him about the gummies kid and saying "I need help," while showing the work she'd already done.
He's seen Mel's diagnostic work and knows it's thorough and well-thought-out. He knows Mel will ask for help if she thinks she needs it (for her patient, if not for herself, although she still does a shockingly good job on that front). He knows Mel is likely to recognize if she does need help. Conversely, his experience of Trinity is that she thinks she knows best, that she'll repeatedly do whatever she thinks is best without getting her senior resident's sign-off the way she's supposed to - despite repeated correction on that front - and he's seen evidence that some of her decision-making is beyond bad - potentially fatal. His nine hours with her have taught him that she thinks rules are for other people and that she'll ignore the guardrails that are set up to protect her, her patients, and her co-workers.
Yes, he probably just plain likes Mel better - Mel spends her downtime petting dogs and psyching herself up with geeky little raps and calling her autistic sister to make sure she's doing ok, while Trinity spends her downtime bullying the med students who are below her on the ladder and trying to start a whisper campaign that her meanie senior resident is a drug addict, and I know which one I like better - and Langdon needs to self-police the way that could affect the tenor of his interactions with Trinity vs. Mel. But Mel also has shown professionalism and skill in her job and has shown herself to be trustworthy in a way that Trinity just. Has Not. So Mel has earned a longer leash than Trinity.
Tangentially, I do find it interesting that one of the first things we see Robby do, in the first hour of this shift, is push calcium gluconate for hyperkalemia before labs are back on our marathon-runner after going through very much the same kind of thought process that Santos shows about our MDMA girl - Robby and Collins have essentially the same discussion as Santos and Mohan. And then Robby just goes and does it, the same way Santos just goes and does it, before the labs are even back. Robby at least has the benefit of years of experience, but I have to say I think it's interesting to see Robby and Santos so strongly paralleled in this, and I wonder what they're trying to show not only about Santos, but about Robby with that parallel.

@eveningspirit tagged me, so here's
Seven Sentence Sunday
smutty edition
“Shhhhh, you talk too much.” Abby stroked her sharp nails through Frank’s wrecked hair and stared down into those big, blue, blue eyes. “You’re so good at this, remember?”
She felt Frank open his mouth against her to answer, but his breath huffed out of him and his, “yes” was halfway to a moan.
Behind her, Robby pressed one of Frank’s legs up and over his shoulder and just … settled there, stroking lazily over Frank’s cock with barely more than his fingertips. He was the only one of them still fully clothed, and spread out around his massive frame, Frank felt exposed, objectified. Played with.
Abby slid her knees open further and tilted her hips to line up her clit with the damp bridge of Frank’s nose.

Chapters: 6/6 Fandom: The Pitt (TV) Relationships: Frank Langdon & Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, Melissa "Mel" King & Frank Langdon, Dana Evans & Frank Langdon, Frank Langdon/John Shen Characters: Frank Langdon, Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, Melissa "Mel" King, Dana Evans, John Shen Series: Part 2 of Inconsistencies 'verse Summary: The Pitt AU, featurning a different backstory for Frank Langdon. In this fic he's disabled after sustaining a "devastating back injury" (SCI). The story starts at the "locker scene" from episode 1x10.
A/N: So, I retconned part of Frank's background for this fic. It's not a significant change, considering the story is mostly about his relationships with Robby and Dana. And Mel a little bit. In the previous version, which you, Dear Reader, may have read, he was married to one Abby Langdon and had two kids with her, Tanner and (unnamed second child). As in canon. But. Since this is AU anyway, and I got dragged kicking and screaming into that rarepair ship called Shendon, I tweaked this fic in that direction.
So, a little explanation: Frank Langdon is married to John Shen and they have a son, Tanner. Abby is John's sister who helps them raise Tanner. At some point I'll write a fic explaining how they became Tanner's Dads. ;)
To make it work I rewrote one (1) scene in Chapter 3 and several sentences/paragraphs down the line, including one semi-important detail (John, coming to the MCI, brought with him Frank's mobility aids). No significant changes to the plot, or character interactions were necessary. However, John appears in Chapter 6. So. I hope you won't have any whiplash from this... ;p

Seven Sentence Sunday - tagged by @eveningspirit !
Excerpt from Chapter 3 of Behind These Tattered Seams (full chapter next Sunday!)
“No, sorry, I’m good. Thank you,” she replies, closing her notebook and walking away, hopefully not to bug anyone else. Frank shoots a silent apology to Cassie – he should have said more to dissuade Javadi’s interrogations. He knows the kid is doing her best, but everything he’s seen in the last two hours has made it clear that she’s not destined for emergency medicine. Her priorities are wrong, and she hasn’t learned to see the lines between patients and people. He thinks maybe she’ll find a place in dermatology, which might be a little mean. Someone flicks the back of his head – Dana, no one else would ever do that – and he pushes off from the counter, rolling back an inch. She hands him a can of Red Bull. “Awesome,” he says, which is a massive understatement.

So, I got tagged for a WIP Wednesday by @eveningspirit - thought I'd have to wait a lot later to post this but I just got a bit of a break as our IT team re-boot the servers.
I literally just cut a chunk out of a WIP that is completely fly by the seat of my pants unplotted. It originally started as part of a writing sprint (ie: set a timer and just write and see what happens). I am not sure where I am going with it. But it intrigued me enough to not delete it.
It takes place about a year post-S1; which is about the only definitive thing I have for the entire piece. Enjoy.
“Let’s take a walk,” Robby said quietly, grabbing Langdon by the scruff of the neck and steering him quickly away from the trauma room. “You got this?” he called behind him to Collins even as he was halfway out of the room, knowing the answer would be yes but giving her the courtesy of a heads up that he was leaving and taking the new attending’s current R4 with him. Robby blatantly met everyone’s eyes as he walked away, almost dragging Frank with him, giving them a warning glare that screamed not to interrupt or say anything. He could see confusion in the eyes of everyone who was behind Frank in training, Samira included as she was also technically a year behind him originally. He saw Dr. King open her mouth as they walked past and, possibly for the first time since she started, Robby gave her a look of such harsh warning that her jaw actually snapped shut and she immediately went back to working on her patient in Curtain 2. Everyone who had been around during Collins, Langdon and Ellis’ intern years just continued to work and avoided watching the oncoming breakdown. He hurried his one time mentee through the back hall, past the lockers and quickly out the side door where the younger man all but threw himself over the garbage can and started dry heaving into it. Robby sighed and pushed aside any remaining animus for the moment and just rested his hand on Frank’s back; just giving enough pressure to let him know he wasn’t alone at that moment. He gave it a few minutes after the heaving stopped before speaking and just asked, even as ridiculous as the question seemed, “You alright?” “Been better,” Frank admitted, spitting into the can. “Been worse,” he added in a hoarse voice. “I think I’m done,” he continued and slowly leaned up, Robby’s hand slowly falling off his back. “Sorry.” “Don’t apologize for this,” Robby responded and took a few steps back to walk over to the picnic table they had stashed in the corner of the ambulance bay and sat down on the bench. He watched as Frank stood there in front of him looking absolutely lost and wished that he could stop seeing this young man standing in this very spot looking like that. By Robby’s count in the four and a half years that he had known Frank Langdon this would be the third time he would be in this ambulance bay and watch the young man fall apart. The less said about the second time the better.
Don't have time to track down usernames to tag today - I'm sure all my writing mutuals are so very sad about that (lol).
Hope everyone is having a good day.

The Pitt S1
I’d been resisting watching this because I’d come across some fandom Takes(TM) here that had made me think I wouldn’t like it. They’d been wrong.
But what it really did it to me was a certain gifset (that I now can’t find) of a certain ship posted by @electricbluebutterflies that pushed all the right buttons and made me take a look around other gifs and some fic and, well… I’d also read some of your metas, @eveningspirit, but you know, as much as we do think a lot alike, I do need a more or less problematic lil’ ship to pull me in. :P
I’ve been on vacation this week (May holidays), so after catching up with SVU (meh, but OK for familiarity reasons) and Organized Crime (every episode infarctious, I like this shit!), I decided to watch an episode and see if I can stand it. I could still drop it if I didn’t, right?
Alas, I did like it, so much so that I proceeded to watch 4 eps on Thursday, five on Friday and 6 yesterday – but I was doing housework for an hour or so every couple of episodes (b/c I can’t work continuously anyway due to health reasons.)
So, obviously, I liked it.
The rest under the cut to save your dash.
The concept of 15 hours of a work day being a season was definitely one of the reasons for binging, because it just kept me interested in what happened next.
There were a handful of occasions when I had to look away from the medical gore, but not too many to interfere with overall enjoyment.
Now, the plots were as they are in any medical procedural (though, I might say, they did some things better than some other shows.)
But what I’m a character-driven person and oh, the characters. So many delightfully flawed, broken, but at the same time brilliant and sympathetic characters. I don’t even dislike anyone. Well, Gloria, but even she showed her good side by the end. She did annoy me, though, ugh, typical bureaucrat. But that’s her job to be.
Now, it’s hard to pick a favourite because there’s something about nearly everyone that I find compelling. But perhaps Cassie McKay. I love her. She’s so maternal and a good doctor and obviously a mom who loves her son a lot. But I also liked that they showed her being biased (because even the best people are in some way and it’s good to be reminded to check yourself once in a while) and frustrated and, well, human.
Woo-hoo, and there was the pleasant surprise of McKay’s shitty ex being played by a familiar face (Eli from Station 19). And it brought some fun to relieve all the stress in (for me, as a viewer; not for the characters, obviously. Though Collins definitely enjoyed herself when handling him not too carefully. :P)
Speaking of, I liked Collins well enough, more towards the end than at the beginning.
Now to more complicated characters.
Okay, Robby.
See, part of the reason why I’d avoided watching this show was that they gave him a stupid last name and I’d expected to be frustrated to no end. But fortunately it wasn’t mentioned more than a few times and it was at least pronounced well. And I headcanon that that stupid ‘a’ is a typo from the border officer whichever of Robby’s ancestors had the misfortune to get when first arriving in the US. Because when you’re a poor immigrant, you’re just happy they let you in and you don’t complain about your name being misspelled. *sigh* Okay, I can live with that.
(Look, this hits close to home for me in more than one way.)
Anyway, I hadn’t expected to like Robby due to the aforementioned takes, but I did! You know I have a type when it comes to fictional characters and he definitely checks a lot of boxes. Here he is, on a very bad day, an anniversary of his mentor’s death, then two kids die on him and he learns of his “best resident’s” drug misuse before mass casualty shooting at an event where his sort-of step son went who is then brought in injured with his girlfriend who dies… A day from hell indeed.
But despite all that, for most of the time, he’s caring and compassionate (exercising so much empathy tortured by his choices and a little suicidal, I guess)), a good doctor and a good teacher and a good friend and boss.
Except when it comes to Langdon.
He could he have handled things with Langdon better, definitely without screaming. But he’s just a human and considering the day he’d had it’s understandable his fuse went off – not right, not professional, but understandable.
I think disappointment played a big part in how he reacted, because Langdon was one of the people he trusted and relied on the most. And maybe also fear – what if something had happened to a patient and he hadn’t noticed – ultimately it would have been his responsibility, and not just legally, but morally – I think, being the man he is, it would have broken him if anyone died because Robby hadn’t noticed Langdon’s problems. But that’s just me speculating.
Now, Langdon. The above said, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and I’ll believe it’s as he said – that he was trying to wean himself off the drugs he got after his back injury. From what we saw on screen, he is also a good doctor and a good teacher and he hasn’t done anything that would endanger a patient. Sure, he was moody, irritated, anxious, and harsh and rash (getting the puppy) – but we don’t know how much of it is just his personality (and youth re: rashness) or withdrawal symptoms or, you know, just resulting from being in pain. Because I know pain, okay. And it’s damn hard to stay calm and collected and not snap when you’re in pain all or most of the time and still trying to work and work well – and sometimes there’s just a drop too much of everything. So, yeah, Langdon has my sympathies.
Of course, stealing from the hospital and the patients is wrong, and long term opiates use would be bad for Langdon, so he certainly should do the rehab and then have some supervision/testing as were Robby’s conditions. Which were maybe (too) harsh, but they make sense. And they could probably be softened with time and talk and finding out the truth (the audit of his pharmacy use history) and depending on the rehab results etc.
So, yeah, I don’t think things are as bad as some of the fandom make it and I definitely hope Langdon does what it takes (rehab etc.) and comes back to work and he and Robby patch things op.
Because Langdon also doesn’t know, what we, the viewers, do. Namely, that Robby almost flushed the pills to get rid of the evidence that Langdon took them; that he asked Dana for an audit quietly. Which tells us more about how Robby feels about Langdon than Langdon thinks.
Okay, enough about these two.
Dana! Dana is awesome and I love her. I hope she comes back to work. But I also understand that everything might have finally boiled over and she has enough. At least she deserves a few weeks off to rest. (But ‘murica, ugh.)
I also like Santos. Yeah, she’s brash and ambitious (and trying to engineer a medical condition in a patient so she could do a procedure she wanted was wrong). But we also saw her caring and approach patients thoughtfully – not to mention taking blame for Samira (although I wouldn’t be surprised if she wants to collect on that in the future) and offering Whitaker a place to stay. She reminds me of a friend I lost touch with (it was pre-mobile phones era.) A wonderfully complex character, I’m looking forward to get to know her better.
I like both Whitaker and Mel. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but this is getting long. I read Mel as autistic/on the spectrum, yes? And I agree with ES on her being aro-ace. I certainly don’t ship her with Langdon (it’s fine if you do, I can see why, but personally it’s just not my thing.)
I also like Javadi – loved her when she bloomed under pressure and awed her mom. And lol, her lil’ crush on Matteo. (I also laughed aloud when Chad got jealous of the possibility of Cassie and Matteo – not actively shipping them, but they would be cute. Typical douchebag mindset form Chad, though.)
Love Perlah and Princess and their behind-the-back comments in Tagalog. And who knows who else, there were so many characters; like I said, I really enjoyed the variety of personalities.
And then we come to the ship that got me into this mess (thanks, Alyssa), Abbot x Mohan, of effing course. Did I say I have a type? I very much do.
I saw that gifset and my brain and heart and ladyparts went brrrr, as they say. FML. I’ve read copious amounts of fic.
And then my mind (and fic I saw) did the logical (and expected from me, come on) jump and added Robby to the mix.
Anyway, my brain is too ship-addled to analyse those two and this post has bgot long enough. Suffice it to say that I like both characters. Samira is dedicated to treat patients as whole humans – all doctors should be like that. But, yeah, she needs life outside the hospital as Cassie said. And Abbot’s cowboy ways are entertaining to watch while he’s also a good doctor and teacher and a caring person (and a good friend to Robby (and the other way around obviously.)
I'll end here by saying I'm looking forward to s2.

Regarding episode two, if you've seen it already. ;) The burzek of it all? Not enough? Too much (wha?? no way!!)? Exactly right? I have to say it was just right for me. It fit the atmosphere of the episode and sort of made my fanfick-y juices going... hmmm. I am very, VERY much looking forward to Kim being back on the show though. Adam needs her so much right now.
Sorry again for the late response: I actually did read this ask on thursday morning, right after watching the episode, but I had gotten like zero hours sleep basically and so needed to rewatch when my mind was a bit more alert which I did get more alert but only just remembered to rewatch! (Just in time lmao). So sorry about that - I really am enjoying these asks, I promise !!
ANYWAY. Yes. I have to agree - it was exactly the right amount of Burzek. The episode taking place essentially within the first few hours of Emily getting shot and the direct aftermath really set the tone for exactly where Adam's mindset was (and DAMN did Paddy play it excellently!) and so I found the little bits of burzek we got fit right in with the all round feel of the episode.
My biggest worry going into the episode was that it wouldn't just be set in those initital hours, and therefore the lack of Kim would feel glaringly obvious. The episode being set out this way immediately put those worries to rest.
But as I said, I did want SOME acknowledgement of Kim/Burzek and having Kim call (repeatedly! my girl knows not to give up, but also not call too much!) served as a reminder of how solid their relationship is, how Kim is there for Adam. And it also served to show a good insight into Adam's mind - he didn't have time for the comfort or decompressing about the day with his safety person, he had to keep in that go, go, go mode.
As I said, in these moments, Adam likes to just buckle down and address the immediate aftermath and doesn't like taking in the luxury of comfort because as soon as he does, he breaks down. And he wasn't even in the right mindset for anything - he just went through something traumatic and it was having an effect on his mental state, as what was beautifully demonstrated throughout the episode.
Although, his photo for her being of Kim and Mack made my heart grow like triple the size I swear, that was so fucking cute. AND the soon to be wife comment, ugh my burzek loving heart. You said it perfectly; it got the fanfic juices flowing, I swear.
Overall, I'd say it was exactly what I wanted from the episode. Even dealing with how traumatic it was for Adam with him spacing out and also being single focused (while also asking so many questions to Kiana, because it's Important for Adam to know the partner he's riding with, especially on the heels of Emily's death). I also really loved how she was introduced. But the little bits of Burzek just made it perfect - that Marina not being in the episode didn't mean that they had to cut out an important part of Adam's life - because it really wouldn't have been right without a burzek nod.
But yes, I totally agree. I am more than ready to have Kim back, and I'm SO SO looking forward to seeing her again. I've missed her, and Adam definitely needs her. So much. (A thought that also makes the fanfic juices flowing).
Thank you for asking!! Sorry again about the length of time, but my sleep issues are sorted now (hopefully) so hopefully if I get any more asks, I'll be a bit more on top of things!

WIP Wednesday
I was tagged by both @eveningspirit and @thewildballyntynesgrow, thank you!
Current The Pitt WIPs (at various stages of completion or my personal commitment to actually writing them):
Ch. 6 of In Hindsight (Langdon&Garcia backstory)
Hayes sighed. “Look, I don’t care if you two used to date, fuck, hate each other or once got blackout drunk and woke up handcuffed to a campus statue. Whatever it is? It stays outside the OR.” He stepped closer, voice lowering into something more direct. “In here, you’re not college buddies or ex-somethings. You’re interns. You’re mine. And you’re a team. Got it?” Garcia nodded. “Got it.” Frank said nothing, jaw tight.
Untitled, post s1 Shengdon, Frank switches to working nights
Everyone told him it was a stupid idea. Robby, who had to sign off on the switch, gave him a look so full of concern that Frank almost gagged. Dana, who raised an eyebrow and reminded him about what he's been saying about night shift people the entire time he's been working at PTMC. His therapist, who didn’t flat-out say no but leaned in with that practiced calm and asked, “What exactly are you trying to run from?” She always asked questions like that. As if the answer wasn’t obvious. As if it wasn’t scrawled all over his face.
Untitled, Frank goes to therapy
Finally, she spoke, her voice calm. “So… what brings you here today?” Frank snorted. “My fucking boss told me to come. Said I should 'talk with someone', as if I haven't done that in rehab already." She gave a small nod, jotting something down. “And how do you feel about being here?” He leaned forward, eyes narrowing. “Are you even a real doctor?” Unbothered, she replied, “I’m not an MD, no. But I do have a PhD in Clinical Psychology.” Frank scoffed. “From where?" he asked, as if he hadn't Googled it before they met. “UPenn,” she said without hesitation. “You’re free to ask about my qualifications as much as you’d like. But we’re here to talk about you, Dr. Langdon. Not me.”
I'm still in the early brainstorming stage for the last two, not sure if anything good will come out of it. I also have a fun idea for a medical conference-turned-ski-retreat, but haven't started writing. Aaaand some whump, there's always whump.
Tagging @helleboretea, @danasevans, and anyone who wants to do it, I've lost track of who's the writing kind around here haha

Thanks for the tag @at-thestillpoint
Get to know your mutuals tag game — answer and tag 6
Favorite Color: Green - all shades.
Last Song: First Class - Rainbow Kitten Surprise. It’s only May but this is definitely going to be my most played song this year.
Currently Reading: I’m in the worst reading slump currently when it comes to actual books. All I’ve done for the past two months is read mostly pittfic. But I believe it was God of the Woods, which I had mixed feelings about.
Currently Watching: Rewatching The Rookie because my stressed-out brain feels better when I rewatch procedurals.
Currently Craving: Water. I just woke up and it’s early for anything else.
Coffee or tea: Both! Coffee on a work day. Hot tea when I’m sick or cold. Iced tea all day everyday .
&
A fun catch up tag
Last song you sang out loud: First Class by RKS - there’s no way to listen to that song without scream-singing it at the top of my lungs.
What is your favorite crisp flavor: Don’t really eat flavored ones like I used to but Cool Ranch Doritos and Ruffles Sour Cream and Cheddar will always be the top picks. But I eat plain ruffles with some type of dip the most.
Last book I opened: Since I haven’t read an actual book for fun in months - it was probably something work related.
Earbuds, headphones, or nothing?: AirPods definitely except I think mine are broken because they never stay connected.
Last place I went to other than home: Work. I haven’t left my house since Friday, but I will be going grocery shopping in the next few hours. Exciting weekend, I know.
A color that looks good on you: Green and blue.
Last trailer you saw: don’t remember
No pressure tagging: @michaelormewood , @eveningspirit , @edwardseve , @partofthelouniverse , @dazzlingsuns , @renkyol and anyone else who is bored !

Seven sentence Sunday
I was not tagged by @eveningspirit and again I don’t know if this will make the final version or if I’ll end up rewriting this scene.
Frank rolls his eyes. “If you have his card, it’s in a drawer in Dana’s desk in the ‘not a rep, not an asshole’ pile.” Which is somehow still hundreds of business cards deep because Robby has never thrown away a business card in his life. (There are several “is a rep, is an asshole” piles.) “I am not going through the email graveyard of contacts that are older than Javadi, knowing university associated doctors change their affiliations approximately as often as they change their underwear, to find the one magical card to rule them all. That sounds like the kind of epic question that should be reserved for Walsh’s nerdy kid.”
“We all told her she shouldn’t have used the Yu-Gi-O card for Narcan.” Robby shakes his head. “But that was her wife’s, not her kid’s. Alice is only five.”
So yes, I am enjoying making the little man’s life more interesting
