Everybody Talking about Jamie adaptation was everything The Prom could have been.

Queer teens drama with music!

I expected so much of The Prom and got a kind of disappointed because even Alyssa and Emma beign the focus we got so little of their story at Netflix's adaptation.

And I wasn't expecting much of ETAJ and I got everything I didn't know I need it!

see the thing is it's really hard to have an onscreen narrator in a movie the way you have an onstage narrator in theatre so of course it makes sense to cut it and have the narration be done by the main character's voice as an overlay. perfectly normal and reasonable decision unless by doing that you have to cut every instance of the onstage narrator affecting the plot itself and therefore completely cut the emotional core of the story.

#most movie musicals i can see why they make the changes they do. like everybody's talking about jamie is a really good example #and into the woods... a lot of ppl complain about the movie as do i but like i don't know what else they COULD have done really.#i just think it was one that was never gonna work #for an example of a movie that made changes from the musical that didn't make sense and made the story worse please see in the heights
