Hi again and thanks for taking a moment to read this,
Since this blog is in its infancy, and you are one of a relatively small number of people reading it (approximately 230 people right now, and growing, plus a few hundred on social media), it’s a good time to “brand” my style a little, and put the right spin on things.
Many people have commented throughout the many years I’ve worked as a musician, how much my original stuff reminds them of something from a film or tv show. Those comments have cemented my focus on the style I’ve developed, and encouraged me to start producing releasable material of my own. I spent 11 years producing music for other artists and clients, but only now am I doing it solely myself. My experience spans everything from progressive rock to dance music and everything in between it seems. And I have to reiterate the huge influence my childhood years of classical piano studies have had.
All of this has come together for me as a musical artform that attempts to capture emotion without usually resorting to any lyrics. I have come to believe that lyrics might at times even cloud what speaks from the music itself. Any fan of instrumental music, from bebop to bluegrass gets that. My mission now is to capture some of the drama, the humor, the wonder….of the moment and of the bigger picture. Maybe I’m trying too hard to be “poetic” about this, but honestly, I see little point in this exercise without that. It drives what I am about as an artist, and what the results will be as well.
I often think about what emotions, imagery or events might unfold in someone else listening to my music. What do THEY think it means, if anything? Is it a story? Does it feel like something? Maybe a series of ‘somethings”?
This project has been a lot of effort on many fronts, and is finally coming to fruition. True success may come in many forms, perhaps only my own fulfillment. Of course only time will tell what’s going to happen. I do plan on doing this for quite some time. Hopefully you will come along for the ride.
First I will “STIR” the pot and see what comes up.

I don't get why people hate the timeline so much, its not like you can't pretty much completely ignore it when you play the games. The only time it even approaches mattering to the story is when there is an explicit sequel like botw and totk or zelda and zelda 2
Hey sorry your ask got lost in the sauce of my broken tumblr, but: yeah!
I mean, I get why in some sense. It's been a heated point of debate and I think some people understandably resent the space it has taken not only in fandom discourse, but in how people began to understand the game and its narrative aesthetic choices. There is such a thing as over-rationalizing everything to hard logic, and sometimes it's just not the fandom for that --especially when you begin to forget it's all just fan theory and start to forget what the games are supposed to be like and evoke beyond just strict facts displayed in a linear way.
What I think bugs me with TotK in particular is that it both evokes and relies on continuity and the idea of a timeline, of archeology, of history itself, while being so loose and vacant with it that it both is doing Timeline Shit while also completely failing to understand why some parts of the fandom were invested in Timeline Shit to begin with.
would just like you to know that this blog is the reason i finally sat down and listened through the smile sessions a while ago and now i am chronically hooked on the beach boys. thank you for your service
I cannot tell you how truly honored that makes me feel. discovering SMiLE will make you crazy for real. I remember years ago the very first time I listened to good vibrations (like, really listened to it, not just casually heard it on the radio), it legitimately shook me because I thought "there's no way the 'surfin' usa' guys made something like this unless they're secretly witches" ....and then to learn that good vibrations is just the tip of the iceberg of the masterpiece that is the smile sessions? rearranged my molecules. and of course it changes the way you hear other beach boys music too, once you get an ear for brian's production style. I am so glad that it was eventually released to the public. everyone should get the chance to listen to it!
