What a difference 40 years makes Alternating pics of Lotus Esprit S1, 1977 and Lotus Evora Sport 410, 2017. To celebrate 40 years since a Series 1 Lotus Esprit appeared in the Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me the Lotus in-house personalisation department, Lotus Exclusive, have created a special one-off Evora trimmed and styled to resemble the Bond Esprit (note it also has the same registration number)

Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Wears John Player Special Livery

From 1972 to 1986, Team Lotus was sponsored by tobacco company John Player & Sons, and all of its Formula 1 cars wore a distinctive black-and-gold livery. During that time, the team won five drivers’ and constructors’ championships and, in the process, changed the way F1 cars were designed. Lotus Exclusive, the automaker’s in-house customization department, is paying tribute to those cars with this, the Evora Sport 410 GP Edition.

You could say this is just an Evora Sport 410 with some fancy paint, but for Lotus geeks it’s like catnip. There’s gold pinstriping around the bodywork just as on the JPS race cars, gold accents on the wheels, and a painted badge on the C-pillar that notes Team Lotus’s 13 drivers’ and constructors’ championship wins.

This isn’t the first time Lotus has painted a road car black and gold, however. There was the S2 Esprit JPS that was a tribute to Mario Andretti’s 1978 world title and the Elise Type 72D, built in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi’s 1972 championship.

Lotus Exclusive created the GP Edition not just to commemorate its F1 glory days but also to celebrate the Evora Sport 410’s upcoming U.S. launch. The company is only building five GP Editions, each with a starting price of $110,000. That’s $5800 more than the regular Sport 410’s $104,200 base price, but we think it’s worth it.

Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Edition Hitting North America

Continuing the runaway success of Lotus’ return to North America, the legendary British Sportscar maker has unveiled a unique Evora Sport 410 in one of the company’s most famous liveries, as order books open for the sensational sports car in the US and Canada.

Available in the new GP Edition color scheme, as well as Lotus’ standard array of paint options, the new Lotus Evora Sport 410 for North America is the lightest and most focused iteration of the Evora, and joins the benchmark Evora 400 in the company’s line-up as a fully type approved model. It is also the fastest road-going Lotus ever sold in the US, clocking 0-60 mph in 3.9 secs and a top speed of 190 mph. A literal translation of Lotus’ simplify then add lightness manifesto, this new 2017 MY Federal version has undergone considerable development to meet the specific demands of the North American market, and minimizing mass has remained a priority.

Lotus’ famous Lightweight Laboratory has revisited every aspect of the car, to find new weight savings and, as a result, the Lotus Evora Sport 410 is a substantial 132 lbs lighter than the Evora 400 for North America.
