Spoiler warning for the Metal Gear games 1 through 5 plus Revengeance [Content warning: Violence, immolation, blood, broken bones and medical injuries, dead bodies, torture, injection.] Game: Metal Gear Series Music: "Snakes" by ‪@MIYAVIOfficial‬ and ‪@PVRIS‬ for ‪@riotgames‬ /‪@riotgamesmusic‬ Personal Project
Side Notes:
Side Notes:
In celebration of Arcane S2 coming out, as well as Metal Gear Solid Delta, I figured it was finally time to finish this one that I've had on the backburner forever.
The change in the halo jump was prompted because the cinematic was cool, but the game itself wasn't out yet.
This is generally a "Woah, look how cool this game series is" kind of edit, but it really does bear noting just how bizarre, silly, and off the wall these games can get at times as well.
Did my best to incorporate footage from a variety of games and smoothly

Spoiler Warnings for V for Vendetta [Content warnings: Graphic violence, blood, tyranny and police brutality, immolation, acts of terrorism, flashing imagery, sadness] Music: "West Coast" by @LanaDelRey Gift Project for siblings.
Side note:
I had to do quite a bit of audio editing, but I think all around it's pretty smooth?
I've actually been working on this one since before last November. Talk about delays.
I was thrilled to see how well the initial lines synced to the music timing.
I liked how that showering newcaster's fist pumps lined up too.
A lot of the footage is a bit low quality, but that's just due to the age of the film and the youtube videos compiling footage from it accessibly.
My sisters had recommended the idea based on the Parliament line, but I was pleased to see how much else lined up well.

Arcane x TRON: Legacy ["Vandagio"] Spoiler Warnings for Arcane Season 1 [Content warnings: Violence, veins, rage, flashing imagery, sadness] Footage: Arcane (Season 1) Music: "Adagio for TRON" by Daftpunk Personal project.
Side note:
I was rewatching this show with a friend and I had forgotten just how heartwrenching this episode was. I figured that it warranted an edit with some kind of sacrifical/betrayal music, and "Adagio for Tron" never fails to make me tear up a little.
With a bit of finagling the progression of the mood ~kind of~ matches the progression of the fight: the solemn realization, a moment of brightness as he gets back up, some nostalgic/flashback desperation, then a hard climax. The creeping realization of what must be done, followed by a terrible severity and internal conflict, finally ending in a slow descent. Yep.
Shout out Arcane. God, what an incredible show. Also shout out the Dishonored Series, which always reminded me of it.

Gravity Falls x Oxenfree 2 ["Gravity Free"]
Spoiler warning for Oxenfree 2 [Content warning: volume and visual distortion, mild posession, flashing lights, mild animated fear/peril.] Game: Oxenfree 2 Music: "Gravitron" By ‪@neilcicierega Personal Project
Side Notes:
This music comes from an unused Gravity Falls theme song test reel by Neil Cicerega, who did much of the music on that show. Oxenfree and Gravity Falls both have a similar kind of offbeat Pacific Northwest cryptology to them, so the edit felt fitting.
Years ago, when Gravity Falls was just coming out, I remember finding a video of unused gravity falls theme songs then I couldn't find it again for a very long time. I finally did after rewatching a bit of the series with my sister and man what a nostalgia trip!
This edit was pretty quick and simple, it was basically just the Netflix trailer for it. Shout out ‪@nightschoolstudio/@nightschoolstudioblog

Spoiler Alert for Apocalypse Now [Major Content Warnings: Serious Violence, bodies, Loud noises, implied animal vivisection, alcohol, animal abuse/mishandling] Song: "Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails {Gift edit}
Side notes:
I did my best to do an edit with a "this is a violent descent into madness" vibe and not the "ooo-rah American #1 war is rad" vibe as some of the edits I saw didn't really make that distinction and kind of felt like they missed the point of the movie.
Nine Inch Nails is a pretty natural fit for the dirty, grungy feel of this film, and although I originally intended this as an edit for my dad, it actually works well as one for my sister and mom too!
The audio cuts and rearrangement worked out pretty nicely here! The original song is much longer. Lyrics lined up pretty nicely as well!
I used more fade to blacks and fade outs in this one than any other I think. Seems fitting for such a "dark" song.

(Monster and mild gameplay spoilers for Sunless Skies and Sunless Seas) [Content Warnings: megalophobia, monsters, cannibalism, insanity, volume] Music: "Drunken Whaler" from the Dishonored Soundtrack by the late ‪@DanielLichtComposer‬ ) Specifically this video: • Dishonored [Soundtrack] - Drunken Whaler
Side note:
I love the dishonored series, and the sunless series has many similar aesthetic and narrative themes, such as the pseudo-english naval influence, dark criminal underworlds, and strange magic simmering beneath the surface. The music felt like a perfect fit. The only shame was that I had to remove parts for expediency. Love that song. (Personal Project)

Spoiler Alert for CONTROL [Content Warnings: Violence, flashing and flickering lights, loud noises and shrill screams, blood and mutilation, distress and psychosis, mature lyrics] Music: "You Might Think He Loves You for Your Money but I Know What He Really Loves You for It’s Your Brand New Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat" by ‪Death Grips {good luck making a pun off THAT title}
Side notes:
It's hard to make an edit to a death grips song, especially given the insanity of the lyrics. Fortunately, the heavy beat and mentions of incomprehensible violence sometimes lined up with themes or imagery in CONTROL [especially at the end], so I figured it might work. A bit of audio editing and voila!

Spoiler Alert for Inception [Content Warnings: Heights, violence, wrist veins, implied suicide] Song: "Open Your Eyes" by ‪JT Music
Side notes: = This song was written as a fan tribute to the Arkane game Prey (2016, not the unrelated 2009 one), which I enjoyed immensely, and I found that the themes of dreams, disbelief in reality, and general mindbendiness worked very well for Inception! = Man, I was a super big fan of inception when I was younger. I think it was the first Christopher Nolan movie I ever saw and I've always had a soft spot for surreal and dream-like media, so I'm glad I was finally put together a good edit for it! = I tried to give a bit of even spotlighting to each of the main characters, but that's kind of tricky, especially when matching imagery to premade lyrics. = I couldn't include as many vocal tracks as I would have liked, because the song had lyrics and they would have overlapped jarringly. = I actually saw Leonardo DiCaprio in person while Paul Thomas Anderson was out and about filming his new movie in Humboldt county, so that was neat. = Audio editing worked much better than it should have, as I made a couple major jumps in the music track.

[Content Warnings: Violence, loud noises, terrorism, gas attacks, shootings on a campus, dead bodies] Song: Nothing is Safe by ‪@clppng‬ Games: Rainbow Six: Siege, Side notes:
I've been getting very into the band "Clipping" recently and this song in particular has been on repeat for a while. It's just got such a great "tense final standoff, mission falls apart" vibe that I can't help it. It fit wonderfully for Rainbow six, but I had considered heist movies, zombies shows, and quite a few other things as well before I landed on this.
I am amazed at how well the final trailer audio comes through even though I edited out almost all of Idris Elba's dialogue during it.
There's an entire third verse after this that I had to cut, which is a real shame as it kicks ass as well.

(Spoiler Alert for Black Mirror seasons 1-5) [Content Warnings: Loud noises, blood, violence, body horror, spouse abuse]. Song: Revelation by Ross Bugden Media: Black Mirror Seasons 1-5 Side note: The clips may seem much more random in this one. Although there was a reasoning and vibe for each pairing of images, on the whole this is more of a "clip show" kind of edit than a "story telling" kind of edit. I think I first found this song on a BedBananas Rainbow Six Siege video. (Personal Project)

Happy April Fools Day! I thought the idea of doing the "Grainy/low quality edit turns into High quality/cool edit" trope but still keeping the super obtrusive website logos baked into the video was absolutely hilarious. Also the idea of treating Zoolander like it's some kind of "Cold/Hard" movie has me gigglin'.
Since it's also Cesar Chavez day, do you think Mugatu and his consortium of evil fashion moguls ever tried to take Chavez down with a model?

Spoiler Alert for Black Widow [Content Warnings: Loud noises, disorientating camera motion, acrophobia] Song: "Fall" by Daft Punk for TRON: Legacy {Personal edit}
Side notes: I already made an edit of this song to Godzilla, but it's just such a perfect song for intense, high-stakes skydiving scenes. The crunchy synth that howls like wind, the ever rising shepherd's, the dramatic strings, the final climactic closing. God, I just love this song, and this scene was pretty much exactly what I imagine whenever I listen to it.
I have not seen black widow, and I don't really intend to, but props to those who enjoyed it because I can understand that!
Love that stock sound effect of glass breaking. That was actually in the movie.

Spoiler Alert for the end of Tangled [Content Warnings: Mild animated peril, an animated death] Song: "Posterity" from TENET {Personal edit}
Side notes: = Not entirely sure what possessed me to make this one. = I was working on a tangled edit, potentially "Climbing up the Walls" by Radiohead, and I was like "Huh, I wonder if this song might work, or this one, or this one" and I just ended up settling on this for some reason. = Honestly, the idea I had always envisioned for this bit of the song was always something like a final betrayal or frantic escape, and I think that's what led me to this. = Kind of just made it to make it. - - (o_o)/ - -

Spoiler Alert for SIGNALIS [Content Warnings: Violence, flashing and flickering lights, loud noises and shrill screams, blood and mutilation, distress and psychosis] Music: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonny Tyler, remixed by vague003 ( • vague003 - Tonight (Slowed Down) ) Game: SIGNALIS by ‪@rose-engine‬ , serious props to the creators Yuri and Barbara.
Side notes:
This was inspired by a great little nightmares edit by instagram user Eli (@Qvakes) on February 14th,2021. I can't post the link here thanks to YouTube's external verification requirements, but I will when I become eligible.
Major props to @arainydancer and @lizcaingcoy for the absolutely stellar work they've done keeping the signalis fandom well fed.
I initially just considered this remix because of the edit and because it matched the general vibes, but when I realized the key line is "Forever's gonna start tonight", I knew that it was the right choice for SIGNALIS.
I was very pleased with how well the gunshots lined up, although it took a bit of finagling.
I made it through the first chapter or so of the game before the Xbox Gamepass subscription expired, but I caught up on the rest online, and there's a lot to enjoy about the game and its fandom. I cautiously recommend it!
I tried to emulate a bit of the glitching/quick editing of the game's cinematics while still keeping everything visually readable.

Spoiler Alert for the end of Despicable Me [Content Warnings: Heights, mild animated peril] Song: "Your Precious Moon" from the Portal 2 OST (‪@Valve‬ ) [ • Portal 2 OST Volume 3 - Your Precious… ] {Personal edit}
Side notes: = This was remarkably well fitting: It's the final confrontation between two characters with wacky sci-fi weapons, the music and timing as well as the vibes themselves line up well, and the song is literally titled "Your Precious Moon". I had fun putting this one together. = This one also functions as a test of the "Made for Kids" feature on Youtube. I'm curious how it works and what it means.

Spoiler Alert for Alan Wake/Alan Wake 2 [Content Warnings: Violence, flashing lights, loud noises and shrill screams, ] Music: "SONNE" by ‪@RammsteinOfficial‬ Games: Alan Wake, Alan Wake 2 by ‪@RemedyGames‬
Side notes:
I know that Old Gods of Asgard/ ‪@PoetsOfTheFallBand‬ are finnish, but their style made me think a bit of Rammstein. Add in the notions of the sun rising and all that, and it felt like a good fit for Alan Wake. Plus, there are some lyrics (such as "Sie ist der hellste Stern von ALLEN) that almost sound like they're saying ALAN.
I used voicelines from the Dead by Daylight tie-in for a couple different points in this video. (Personal Project repurposed as gift edit)
I played the first years ago and enjoyed it, but I have yet to play the second Alan Wake. I'm keen to. -Also, did you know that SONNE was apparently designed as some boxer's walk up music? I thought it was about nuclear war or something. -The song was not chosen because of its recent association with "sigma males" or anything like that. It was chosen because a friend of mine was the first to introduce me to Rammstein with this song, and that was a good call, so this video is dedicated to him.

Gameplay/visual Spoiler Alert for Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite [Content Warnings: Violence, flashing lights, loud noises and shrill screams, implied child abuse/endangerment, implied suicide, blood, electrocution, drowning, injections] Music: "The Electro Suite" by ‪@HansZimmer‬ , The Magnificent Six, Pharell Williams for the Amazing Spider-man soundtrack Games: Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite
Side note:
I thought of the Bioshock series because of the electrical themes, the aesthetic of spectacle and beauty undercut by insanity and corruption, and the harrowing violence inflicted on and by its characters. [Also because I recently finished 2 and infinite back-to-back and really enjoyed them]
I don't necessarily condone any of the actions or viewpoints expressed by these characters. Duh.
Fades and In-game audio were my two greatest tools for this edit, and the mixing on both actually came together much better than I expected!
Oh, hah! In going through the credits, it turns out that "The Electro Suite" is actually provided by Youtube by no other than "Columbia"! (Personal Project repurposed as gift edit)
