Meet Rebeca Morningstar!

Meet my AppleRadio fankid! Her name is Rebeca, and she is the swetest eldritch horror you've ever seen.

Rebeca belongs to a future AppleRadio fanfic that I'm still plotting. Originally, she is the daughter of Alastor alone, adopted later in the fic by Lucifer.

(Alastor basically said "this thing is your second daughter now", and Lucifer, who was already in love with the child, was all for it)

Alastor didn't name her at first. It took a few days for him to be able to look at that baby, so she was "The Child" or "The Thing" (only in Alastor's mind) for a while.

Has hooves. When she was born, she looked fully human, and that little hooves were the only clue Alastor had about the child being his. Well... and the pain from giving bith too.

Taller than Lucifer, but not as much as Alastor.

ADORES Charlie. It's like a big sister to her (and both Charlie and Vaggie love her).

While she likes everyone in the hotel, her faves are Charlie, Rosie and Lucifer. But above them all is Alastor.

And, while at first he didn't like her, he would kill for his daughter.

Always smiling. Surprisingly chill. Except when she is not.

As sweet and kind as Charlie, but way more quiet.

She will go feral if anything threatens her family and loved ones. Especially if anything threatens Alastor.

Aware of anything around her since the very begining, since she was in Alastor's belly. Kinda like Alia from Dune, yeah.

That same fact gave the impression that she was older than she look or that she was aging faster than normal. She didn't tho, she just learned everything faster.

Alastor often call her nicknames like: "young lady" (angry) "my little one" or "my summer breeze" (few moments of respite, only for the two of them).

He nevers calls her "Beca". The rest of the Hotel crew does, tho. She doesn't mind the nickname.

In the AppleRadio version she is more similar to Lucifer than in the fanfic version, like the hair, horns or eyes. She looks more demonic for obvious reasons.

She is also slightly more mischievous, but still a sweetheart.

Something funny happened in on the last day of the Gymnastics World Championships this year and I want to explain it to my friends who don’t follow the sport as closely...

Starting out early in the floor final was Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.  She has just won a historic world all around championship.  She is beloved and adored by the fandom.  But as is super common for the person who wins the all around she isn’t at her best in event finals.  A lot happened to her this week after all.  Her routine wasn’t as clean as it was before and she gets a score that makes it unlikely she will medal.  

The final continues on and others also make mistakes (after all it’s the end of a long two weeks).  She’s still leading when Jordan Chiles of the United States goes up.  She hits her routine but there are some mistakes in it and she scores above Rebeca.

But Jordan and her coaches decide to inquire about her score.  In gymnastics you can’t appeal your execution score, that’s final, but you can ask a superior jury to look at your difficulty score and see if it was correctly assigned.  But this is not without risk.  If the superior jury thinks you shouldn��t have gotten credit for something the original set of judges gave you your score can go down.

Now Jordan’s score was unchanged (as most inquires are).  And if your inquiry fails your national federation has to pay money (so that people don’t just inquire about every score).  $300 for the first failed inquiry, $500 for the second, $1000 for the third.  If they decide your score goes down it’s also a failed inquiry for payment purposes.  So basically:  if you are right and your score should be higher it’s free.  If you are wrong you pay and the more times you are wrong the more you have to pay.

Jade Carey from the United States is the reigning Olympic Floor champion.  She goes up and does fine.  She normally wins things by having a huge difficulty score and a lower execution.  She holds the record in the Olympic games since the advent of the open code of points for the lowest execution score without a fall in a floor final.  In which she won the gold medal.  So Carey’s routine has some landing deductions and amazingly high tumbling but she doesn’t get her full difficulty from the jury (off by .1).  She ties with Jordan Chiles in raw score but loses the first tie break procedure which is the higher execution score.  

At this point Jordan is in 1st, Carey is in 2nd with the same score, and Rebeca is in 3rd. 

And then Jade and her coach (who is also her father) decide to inquire her D score.  As she says she’d gotten her full difficulty the entire competition except here.  Because it’s the second US inquiry this one costs them $500.  And the superior jury decides to lower her difficulty.  So she’s now no longer tying with Jordan in score but now tying with Rebeca.  Now their tie can’t be broken (they have the exact same score difficulty and execution).

The final is won by a British gymnast eventually so the medals go:

Gadirova (GBR) - Gold Chiles (USA) - Silver Carey (USA) - Bronze Andrade (BRA) - Bronze.

There is always something darkly comedic about an inquiry where the score goes down especially when you know that they have to pay to have their score go down.  But in this case Carey still got the medal she would have gotten without the inquiry... but Rebeca Andrade gets a medal she wouldn’t have gotten if Carey hadn’t inquired.

Ooohh... Gosh if I had to pick one, it'd be Mandy Moore. I haven't even watched all of This Is Us (the emotional intensity of it is a tad triggering for me) but even just from clips alone I know Mandy deserved an Emmy for her work as Rebeca.

Literally always, it can be so hard for me to understand what people are saying without them. Except lately Hulu's subtitles have been messed up and way ahead of the dialogue so I have to turn them off and it feels so strange without them lol

39. do you prefer 22 episode seasons, or 13?

Definitely 22. I miss long seasons that took their time with story and had filler episodes and episodes focused on side characters and that weren't just about getting the story out as quickly and efficiently as possible. I think some shows work with 13 episodes, but I really don't want it to be the norm.

Summary- You are forced to attend a prestigious homecoming ball which you wanted to avoid but also which you couldn't, you didn't make in any plans on avoiding until you actually meet someone interesting and suddenly everything just seems perfect. Comfortably perfect!

The big thingies weren't quite your scene, specially when all you had to do was look like a freaking doll and stand in poise and behave and watch what you said. Naah please you were done with it.

And today happened to be exactly that kind of day. It was ball at the most affluent family of the city, The Mins. Seems like the so called prince charming had returned to his kingdom after a sabbatical and to celebrate the return his parents had hosted a ball, actually quite grand one at that.

You never wanted to go home because you knew your mother would be waiting with her battalion of stylists, beauticians to make you look like a diva, which obviously you were not. You had features that were standing out but you thought you needed to shine from within to shine on the outside.

You crept inside your own house like a thief tiptoeing to avoid any noise that would attract the attention of your mother. "Rebeca where you think you are going?" Your mothers voice boomed through the corridor. She was your mother alright.

You scanned the room for Hobi, this guy was nowhere to be seen. And somehow you exactly knew where he would be at this moment. You fumbled for the phone but let him just be, At least he was having fun.

The ball was going in full swing yet there was no sign of the prince charming, wishing that man would appear somewhere and this ball would end, so you looked at the exit so that you could have a breath fresh air, you found a exit to a open space down towards the parking.

You moved ahead and went near the garden, and just spread your hands the air felt cold and specially it felt even cold with the strapless dress you had on. "Bored already?" You jumped at the voice behind you.

You turned behind to see a man, a magnificent man. Dark hair on his forehead dressed sharp a tux and those rings in the fingers was the highlight and his sly smile made me loose my breath for a second. Who was this you thought to yourself.

"That's not what's all appealing, I mean i cant just doll up and compete for someone who i don't even know and besides my kind of love is more of a personality not the wallet or the pants or the looks. You argued.

"I'm starving!!" he says with a cute expression. Why don't you find something to eat inside I'm sure they have a plethora of options."I said "Nope food inside feels boring, Lets go out." You had your jaw open to the ground at his offer, How were you even supposed to leave this god damn place without your mother knowing.

You planned a hundred scenarios but nothing concrete came to your mind but some voice in your head asked you to throw caution to the wind and go with the tux guy. "Okay you said but there is one thing you have to do for me," You look at him innocently hoping he would agree. "Anything" He replied.

"Can you get me a pair of sneakers? I am going to have my feet cut off if i stay in these heels for one more min." He burst out laughing at your request, "This is the most unique thing someone has ever asked me to do", He chuckled.

He ushered you to the parking lot and opened a car boot to hand you over a pair of white sneakers and you unknowingly threw your heels in his boot. ?He closed it and pulled you towards his bike, You had your eyes out of your head for a minute. "Care for an adventure?" He smirked.

"Haven't you been noticing I'm wearing a gown all this time? You asked amused at this persons innocence. "Oh come on sneaker girl i know you can manage and for all you know this might be the most adventurous night of your life? Be a sport!"

You still could not believe you were doing this as you wore the helmet but it seemed thrilling and you thanked the designers to have kept the slit big enough to manage. The ride was filled with an adventure you have never tried before and most of it for the part that he was a complete stranger and still you felt the urge to trust him like it was inbuilt.

You decided to eat kimchi fried rice avoiding his amused looks for choosing something simple when you could have gone more for a gown and tux place but for what it was worth it turned out to be one of the best meals you and he had in a while. The time was passing by in mere fractions as you planned your last stop on a hilltop, starlit and quite a scenic view of the city.

The wind was blowing in your face calming all the excitement of the night it had really been an interesting one for sure. "did you dance at the ball?" He asked . "No why? "I can help you make things more interesting" Walburga commented.

In between the alcohol and the drugs the blokes had, the police ended up showing up. And Rebeca Thomas' trip to America was cancelled by her parents. Sweet revenge.

So Walburga had been spending her time with Alex and the mates. Just because she could. She wanted to have fun, enjoy her last days of freedom before her parents send her to Paris. And auntie Cassiopeia would make sure she marry a "decent rich bloke".

Alex knew Walburga had money. But he didn't know she was a Black. They didn't need to know. She was ashamed of being one.

"The money fo' the boose, sugar momma..." one of Alex' friends extended his hand and giggled.

"Don't bother her, Gus" Alex said angrily. Then he turned to look at Walburga and smiled "Don't worry Wal, it's our treat today"

Walburga smiled back. And she was blushing. She definitely had a crush.

Walburga snorted. And she took out the pounds she had borrowed from Alphard's wallet earlier.

"But let the boys go and buy it" Walburga continued "And you can wait with me"

The rest of the boys whistled and laughed. Walburga could've sworn Alex was blushing.

"Get out..." Alex instructed his mates "Out of the car now!"

He pushed his friends as they got out. Still giggling and murmuring things. And when they closed the car's door, Walburga and Alex were finally alone.

Alex stared at Walburga with hungry eyes. And he approached to kiss her. But she pulled away, smiling.

"I like your jacket" she said playing with it.

Walburga had seen how her Hogwarts classmates flirted with boys. It always worked. But for Walburga, boys at Hogwarts were out of reach. She had a reputation. And she had no idea who started it.

"Yeah?" Alex bit his lip.

"Can I have it?"

"Of course, princess" Alex took his off.

It was a classic leather jacket. Black. A little torn by the use. But it looked so cool. Like the ones rockstars wore.

"It's pure leather" Alex hissed "I stole it from a posh bloke in a pub.."

Walburga smirked at that. That made it even cooler. She put it on. It was a bit big for her. But it felt right. It smelled of leather, strong cologne and cigarettes.

"It suits'u" Alex stared and stared.

Walburga smiled "Can I keep it?"

Alex seemed reluctant. But he snorted.

"Alright..." he said "What would'u give me in exchange?" he licked his lips "It cost me to get it"

"Maybe..." Walburga whispered "Maybe we can go somewhere else. And you can take it off..." she stared into his eyes "Take everything off"

Alex smiled widely.

"Yeah..."

And he settled in the driver's seat, and Walburga giggled as he turned on the engine. She kissed his cheek as Alex drove away.

"Oi!!" Gus yelled as the car was driving away "Bloody hell... they'left us"

"At least we have the boose" his mate grinned

"And the money" Gus giggled. His friend too.

And after that night, Walburga wore that jacket all the time. Even if her mother said she was going to die of stress. Even if Cygnus said she looked like a hooker. Even if her father said she only wore "boy's clothes". Because Walburga liked it. And it reminded her of freedom, of rebelty, of a life she couldn't have. And of course, Alex. Her first love, because Orion didn't count.

Until Walburga stopped wearing it. And it became a relic stored in the attic. Proof that Walburga was young and way different that the one she became.

Summer 2012.

It had been a horrible summer. And all Sirius could do was try to bother his brother while he attempted to practise piano. And it was so funny. Regulus got so irritated when someone bother him while he played piano.

"Stop..."

"Reggie... You're missing... That was another key"

"It was the right key..."

"Of course not" Sirius shook his head "Have you forgotten the song?"

"No! I haven't!" Regulus said irritated.

"Arrrg!!" Regulus protested, and he hit Sirius' ribs "GET THE HELL OUT!"

So Sirius left Regulus alone before he murdered him with something. Sirius couldn't call his friends. James was fishing with his father, what a delight. Remus was angry because of the Snape incident. Sirius had tried to call, many times. More than he should. And Peter always talked and talked for hours about a random thing that Sirius didn't understand about.

Sirius should get more friends.

So he wandered through the house. Boring paintings from the Black Ancestors. Even more boring expensive vases and sculptures. Ancient books that were probably written by the first humans alive. And people cleaning. The maids of the house always looked down when Sirius passed by. They even wore those bloody uniforms. Everytime he waved at one, the girl ran away immediately after she bowed. Probably his parents had instructed not to speak to him.

But then Sirius saw one of them, coming out of the attic. Sirius smirked. He'd never been to the attic. Uncle Alphard had joked once saying the house was haunted. Especially the attic. Sirius needed to see what was in there.

"Hello..."

The maid screamed and jumped in surprised.

"Sorry... I didn't mean to scare you"

The girl immediately bowed. "Mr. Black"

Sirius sighed embarrassed "Please don't do that"

The girl looked at him. She must've been around 20. Sirius smiled at her. She blushed.

"I... I need to get into the attic"

"Yes, sir"

Sirius raised an eyebrow. Was it this easy?

"Do you have the key?"

The girl showed him the key. Sirius smiled.

"You have to give me that back, sir"

Sirius nodded "No problem" he said "What's your name?"

Sirius was embarrassed of not knowing. To be fair, there were many people working in the house. Sirius only knew that if he was hungry, he had to ask something to Samantha. And Kreacher was the head of security (also mother's little spy). And there was Mrs. Syre, the woman who raised him...

"Daphne" the girl blushed

"Cool Daphne" Sirius snorted "Where shall I find you?"

"Amm... I'll be cleaning the main room..."

"Great! I won't take long"

Daphne stared as Sirius climbed the stairs of the attic, practically bouncing. She raised an eyebrow. And then she giggled.

Sirius whistled as he saw the attic. It was huge. It contained many cool things. Mainly old dresses and hats and coats that probably belonged to his grandparents and great grandparents. He tried them on. There was cool jewelry too. A cool old pin with the words "Toujours pur", "Always pure". Sirius knew it came from a Black ancestor. Lycoris Black. The famous priest that burned witches and sinners alive. He was cynical, so the story tells.

Sirius found a shoe box. And he opened it. There were several things that attracted Sirius. Old records and cassettes of cool rock bands from the 80s and 90s. Sirius recognized a few: The cranberries, Nirvana, Radiohead, Journey, Rolling Stones, Oasis... Remus would wet himself seeing all these. Sirius took them. He could show Moony when he got back to Hogwarts. When and if Remus stopped being angry, that is.

And Sirius also found a leather jacket.

"Woow..." he murmured as he eyed it.

It was torn by the use, black color, cool design, 80's model, and it smelled like cigarettes and cologne.

Sirius put it on. Wearing it felt strangely familiar and nice. He felt so powerful, so cool. Like a rockstar. He felt older. Sirius made several poses in front of the old mirror. It felt like the jacket was made for him somehow.

But who could it have belonged to? None of the Blacks were rockstars or gangsters. None of the Blacks were cool. Except maybe one. And he was young in the 80s and 90s... Sort of... Sirius was lazy to make the calculations. Alphard. All these things were definitely his.

Sirius smirked "You wouldn't mind me borrowing this, eh old man?"

So Sirius took the records. And Sirius took the jacket. Convinced everything belonged to his uncle. So that night, he came down to dinner wearing that jacket. Even if Alphard was gone to Rome. Knowing Walburga would have a heart attack. And it was a special night. Uncle Cygnus and Aunt Druella were invited. And Bella, and Cissy.

"Good afternoon, everyone" Sirius walked in.

And he was right, Walburga almost choked with her wine when he saw him.

"What are you wearing?" Walburga spat low on his ear. That woman hated scandals. She was boring.

"It's called a jacket, mother"

But Walburga was very pale, staring at it, like she had seen a ghost.

"Where did you find it?"

"In the attic" he said "It's not big deal, it was uncle Alphard's"

"Take it off"

Sirius rolled his eyes. "It's just a jacket..."

"I said take it off..." And Walburga pulled from it, violently.

"What the fuck is your problem, mother?" Sirius spat.

And Walburga slapped him. And everyone stared at them. Bellatrix, that bitch always grinned when Sirius was violented.

"What seems to be the problem, darling?" Orion asked, clenching his teeth.

"That jacket is indecent for dinner" Walburga said "Tell him to take it off"

Orion wrinkled his nose "And smells terrible" he said "Take it off, son"

"No..." Sirius was tired of them dictating his life. Even what he had to wear.

"Excuse me?"

"Listen to your father, Sirius" Walburga looked furious.

"What's the problem?" Sirius spat "Bellatrix dresses up like whore and nobody tells her anything"

"Excusez-moi?" Bella gasped.

"Shut up and take that bloody jacket off. Or I'll take it off by force" Orion grunted.

"Do it" Walburga threatened.

Sirius looked around. Cygnus and Druella were expecting Sirius to lose control, like they were used to it. Bella was very happy with the situation. And Narcissa had a scared face. It resembled Regulus', who was playing with his hands, nervously. Sirius wanted to cry. It wasn't fair. But he took the jacket off. Because he was a coward scared of Orion and the consequences.

And Walburga teared the jacket off Sirius' hands, before he could protest.

"Samantha..." Walburga called, still looking at Sirius with hate.

"Yes, madam?" Samantha appeared on the door.

"I want you to burn this" Walburga said

"No..." Sirius said but couldn't yell, because Orion had put a hand on his shoulder "It was Uncle Alphard's"

"Well... My dear brother is not here to protest, is he?" Cygnus said sipping his drink.

Sirius hated him.

"Burn it now" Walburga insisted.

Samantha looked surprised. But she nodded and left with the jacket. Sirius swallowed his tears. He could see Regulus was sad for him too.

Sirius was furious. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. At least he hid the records under his bed. Sirius clenched his nails on his palm.

"You're a bitch, mother" the words came out of his mouth before he could stop them.

Walburga didn't seem perturbed. She kept drinking her wine as if nothing had happened.

"And you'll have dinner in your room" she said, tired.

"Come on, I'll take you there" Orion squeezed his shoulder. And Sirius knew he was screwed. Orion was going to hit him. Without his uncle, aunt and cousins seeing.

Orion gave him a good punch that made his lip bleed.

"For being a little insolent" he spat "And don't you dare cry, you have to a be a man"

And he shut the door closed. And Sirius screamed into his pillow. It wasn't fair.

Later that summer, after he was disowned, Sirius let the Potters take him shopping for some clothes. And the first thing he asked for was a leather jacket. The one that resembled most to the one he had lost. And from then, Sirius always wore leather. Kind of like a symbol. A symbol that he was his own self, and he was very different from the Blacks.

Background/History

Pre Hogwarts: 

Gael and his parents lived at the Rookwood ancestral home in the English countryside for a few years after his birth. When the war got to be too much for his mother and she assassinated her husband, the remaining two family members fled to London to live in a lavish penthouse hidden from muggles and wizards alike.

Gael’s mother is very strict and expects him to excel at school, as well as other areas of life. They’re not by any means close and neither is their relationship very warm, but Rebeca would do anything to protect her son.

Hogwarts Years:

Gael is popular in school. He’s handsome, smart, and always up for finding loopholes in the school rules. He rarely gets in trouble because he has a knack for exploiting said loopholes and almost never getting caught. He has almost flawless academic record, but he’s not extremely interested in any after-school activities. In years 6 and 7 he garners quite the reputation as a player and kind of an asshole to be honest.

Order of the Phoenix / 2nd Wizarding War:

Gael works as a Curator of Magical artifacts for a while, trying to keep a low profile while times grow darker. He also grows closer to Colette Belrose and the two develop feelings for each other. However, the war breaks out in full force before it can really go anywhere.

Gael is recruited into the ranks of the Death Eaters at the outbreak of the Second Wizarding War. He only complies because Voldemort is threatening to hurt his mother. Like her, Gael is not interested in the blood purity agenda Voldemort advocates for, nor does he think that Voldemort would make a very good evil overlord. In fact, if Gael were interested in world dominion, he’s sure he’d be better at it than the self-proclaimed Dark Lord. This is not to say his power doesn’t terrify Gael, because it does.

Eventually he breaks ranks and reluctantly helps the Order of Phoenix.

Post-War: Gael feels immense guilt for his actions during the war and struggles greatly during the years after the war. However, he and Colette reconnect even after everything that happened, and slowly begin to mend their relationship.

Okay, Elite nation, sorry for my English, but I want to write this because

So Thanks for you attention, if you are going to read this.

We all love this show because they don't divide the world into black and white. That’s why I don’t have a character that I hate. Absolutely EVERYONE in this show had problems, acted terribly towards others, and sometimes they were very dumb. They are just teenagers.

But for some reason, in the eyes of the audience, this justifies only some of the characters that they have always loved. I suggest looking deeper and understanding those who deserve it too.

For example, Samuel.

I can deal with the fact that you are simply not interested in this character. But I see no reason for comments like "he deserves the worst (like death)". Wow. He is not so bad, he has never been so for 3 seasons.

His actions did not harm others so much. Yes, now you are thinking about Rebe and Polo, so let's figure it out:

- Rebeca suffered from his actions and I feel bad for her. But he had a choice between her and his family, so I feel bad for him too.

- He was almost killed because of her mother in season 2, and she was silent about it (and asked Omar to be silent).

- Sandra justified this by the fact that she did everything for the family. Not only Rebeca's family has problems, why are we depreciate his problems?

- About their relationship: the writers did such a crap and they didn't know how to explain it. He could betray her as a friend, but they wanted to add drama. Samuel did not use her, their first kiss was before his conversation with the police.

- It's bad that he loved Carla but tried to move on with Rebeca, but this happens all the time in the series. For some reason, they can’t leave the characters without a relationship (at least they made an exception for Lu).

- Rebeca saw Carmuel in season 2, she initially knew that he was in love with Carla. Unfortunately, because of her feelings for him, she hoped for something else.

- The writers did not make Samuel apologize and explain normally, but in the end Samu and Rebe had no anger at each other, as if they had reconciled and they didn’t show it to us.

About Polo:

- Samuel and Guzman were determined to revenge for obvious reasons. The idea with twitter was terrible, but with the intention of getting recognition from Polo, getting justice for their families.

- Guzman calmed down because of Ander, and also because Marina is already dead and he can do nothing about it.

- Samuel was angry not only because of Marina. He was angry because Polo was free and went to school, while Samuel's brother was still forced to hide and then he was put in jail again.

- Polo CONTINUED to influence his life, even if he did not want to. He also did not want to kill, and I understand him, but I understand Samuel too, he couldn’t move on.

- there is a deleted scene after the death of Polo, when Samuel says that this is not what he wanted. He was aggressive, but all he wanted was JUSTICE.

And let's talk about Carmuel:

- both lied, "used" someone for their family, but for Carla it was harder because of her father.

- Carla was forced to hide her feelings for Samuel, and this is terrible. She was forced to lie to the police again.

- But Samuel never blamed her for this, he never turned away from Carla, even if her lies affected his family,

- I mean, find a guy who understands you without words and forgives without even knowing the reasons for your behavior.

- He never found out that everything was because of her father. He never heard that she also loves him. We know about this, but he didn't.

So, if we understood Carla, I think we should understand Samuel too.

I remain of my opinion: He deserves better. He deserves to be appreciated. They broke him this season, yes. But he tried to fix everything. He defended Rebeca when they wanted to kick her out of school. He felt guilty. He was a good friend to Guzman. He let Carla go for her future. And after the whole season of suffering, he ate macaroni alone.

I would be interested to read why haters are so opposed to him because he is still in the league of good guys. I think Samuel is underrated.

They are definitely change a lot from the begining until now, as single gems as well as Garnet

Ruby was way more calm (except when she wasn't) 👌💪

Also, I love the way Sapphire (mis)calculated Steven's chances. Love is a hopeless equvivalent (but has a result, if you do it right)

I think Steven's shapeshifts symbolised his some fears from the past; streched, like Spinel; was buffed and amorph like CactuSteven and grow closely Diamond size

Gem fact: actually, the gems body can absorb and project light. If their body hard enought to grab something or hit somebody, it would means the x-ray can't go trought them. But they body made out of light, so, if they absorbed and projected it, they really could disapear on the photoes

Gem fact: the location and the shape of the "food" in Ametyst give us the hint of gems can shape similar organs to other life forms' (or at least humans') because it's possibly a stomach

Gem fact: gems -who eat something- can digest or.... releash their "food", because Ametyst never left behind anything other than her gem. Othervise she would, because it isn't stored in her gem

Elite S2 - Worth It

Hola, hola, hola, ¿cómo están? 

Netflix España’s hit teenage drama, Eilte, is back with its second season and surprisingly, is worth it. In only 8 episodes, the writers managed to reveal who Marina’s killer is to the Elite squad while introducing 3 new characters that serve as catalysts for some of the main characters. - spoilers ahead, just a heads up.-

The Good

The writers found a new way to keep Marina’s storyline alive with a different point of view. The communication between the teens and how open they are talking about sex, drugs, problems, etc... is nice to see that. 

The Bad 

The temporary write off of both Nano and Christian was unnecessary. To some point, I understand why Nano would leave, but Christian’s case, that was some real  class bullshit right there. You have the one main character that knows the truth and you decide to get rid of him in the first episode? The fuck? Oh yeah, you know why? Cause, that’s how you set up the whole Samuel x Carla bullshit... 🙄

The show is still 8 episodes long. I personally believe that at this point the show could afford to at least hit the double digits. 

The Ugly 

Cayetana - Talk about a fucking unnecessary character. Her arc is so bland that  the best the writers could do was turn her into a modern age con-artist, cause mind you that’s what she is, until her purpose was finally exposed a.k.a Polo. Also, Cayetana is the one character that is used to give in house bitch, Lucrecia a redemption arc and humanize her again, she is still a bitch tho. 

Breakdown 

Samuel goes missing. Okay. Christian gets run over by Carla’s dad hit squad. Okay. Let’s stop. As mentioned above Christian gets written off by a car “accident” that paralyzes him and hey, the in laws are willing to pay for his recovery in Sweden....so  off to Sweden and just like that the one character that could have ratted out both Carla and Polo is taken care off. The only reason that shit had to happen is cause Carla had to fall for Samuel. I personally think is bullshit, that Christian didn’t asked for a moment by himself and Samuel and just spilled the beans. Por que puñetaaaa, if your bestfriend’s brother who is also your other bestfriend is in jail, you would think some he would try to do something, realistically speaking that’s what teenagers would do. However, that shit doesn’t happen. So Bye bye Christian. 

Samuel and Carla, talk about, de el odio al amor hay solo un paso, bullshit. Fans are going crazy over this ship but is an excellent example of the writers doing a good job at setting this bullshit up and getting away with it. Let me remind you that Carla not once looked at Samuel, like oh yeah I wanna fuck him in season one. She was swayed by Christian and that was the introduction to the Polo x Carla x Christian dynamic. So in season  2, it took Samuel giving her a little attention when her boytoy, Christian is not around, and she just gives in. Literally that’s all it took, like one episode. It took Christian more effort than Samuel, just  throwing that in there. However, this happened because, in order for Samuel to be found, Carla had to “break” and confess and expose Polo. That is the plan that both Samuel and Guzman come up with and it works. She “out of love” breaks and exposes Polo. 🙄To be honest with you, i was waiting for the moment that she would also deal with legal consequences for helping him out but you know, una puta con corazon de oro. Let’s be real Carla’s character has no purpose except for sex appeal and the Polo expose, that’s it, that’s the character. Cool thing that came out of it is Samuel and Guzman’s friendship. 

Nadia and Guzman, let’s be real, their  appeal is the whole Romeo and Juliet trope in a modern society. Guzman goes through a lot of emotions due to Marina, Lu, and Nadia. Eventually he breaks, it was bound to happen but he also finally,  leaves Lucrecia. Now, it is  Nadia that is getting all the backlash from the fans. Nadia in the eyes of many has been reduced from a badass proud Muslim girl to I’ll do anything to get Guzman, which is bullshit. Nadia’s transformation is 2 seasons long. One she finally breaks free on her own accords and 2, she takes control of her own actions without being forced by outside forces. Example, Lucrecia and the hijab bullshit at school. People have to realize that Nadia is the character that will defend her right to do what she wants, when she wants to, not because someone is forcing her to do so. It takes two seasons of context for her character to come alive.

She also gains a new female bestie, Rebeca. Rebeca is one of the catalysts of this season. She is one of Nadia’s biggest cheerleaders and confidants. A teenage girl usually needs a female bestie, and Rebeca is that for Nadia. Rebeca is also kinda used by Samuel, but Samuel is also used by her mom. The point is that Rebeca’s biggest purpose in the show is to be Nadia’s girl. I’m okay with that. 

Lucrecia and Valerio, the Cruel Intentions + Flowers on the Attic dynamic, just doesn’t cut it. So here is my theory and the more I think about it and analyze it, it makes sense. The writers needed someone to beat Lucrecia with her own tactics, and who better than her half brother former lover Valerio? This is the perfect example of taste your own medicine. Nadia went head to head with Lu and won and lost. Guzman, lord knows it took too damn long for him to call it off and be honest about his lack of love for her, so here comes Valerio and does what needed to be done, he breaks her but in the process he breaks himself as well. I am not a fan of the incest, but Valerio is by far the best introduction this season. He, for the wrong seasons, wanted Nadia and Guzman together; however in the process he becomes friends with Nadia, which I personally appreciated. He also, makes the selfish stupid decision in recording her and Guzman having sex and sending the video to Lu, hoping that Lu would wake up from Luland and see that Guzman, just doesn’t love you anymore and it works. The backlash is that she spreads the video, to which he tells Nadia that he is the one who took it, and there goes their friendship. Mind you, all of this is after, he tells Nadia the whole incest thing. Eventually Lucrecia snaps in a fake gala by truly yours, Cayetana, exposes Cayetana, Guzman’s relationship, and has her emotional bullshit breakdown after she fucks her brother, then she fucks him again. So Valerio done with her bullshit, in the family dinner text’s daddy to look underneath the table y puta madre, quedo cabron!!!! Daddy gets to see how close his 2 kids really are. Now my only complaint is that at the end of season 2 Valerio is nowhere to be found while Rebe and Cayetana are still there, which makes sense. I personally would have liked to see the del amor al odio es solo un paso, cause let’s be real, Lucrecia will always be the greedy bitch of my way or my way and the only one that can beat her at it is her own fucking brother. I needed that. I need that. 

Ander and Omar,  the growth, their communication, the trust, the love, the love, fucking amazing. Omar, gets kicked out for finally standing up to his father, so he goes to Ander’s. He gains freedom and a non-toxic home that he, himself, said he is not going back to. He gets a job, he gets to dress up, and just be himself, fucking shit, HE DESERVES IT, PUÑETA! Ander on the other hand, has to deal with the hey my bestfriend killed my other bestfriend’s sister, cause Polo actually tells him. Ander’s emotional and mental state, did get the best of him to some point, his relationship with Omar gets affected, his relationship to Guzman eventually goes to shit, and Polo, well you know. However, Omar and Ander do figure things out, cause somehow, they are a mature couple that do loves each other. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Cayetana and Polo, let’s be real, I don’t like the bitch. She gets introduced as another high class snob and immediately becomes friends with Lu. In the process she falls for Polo. Cayetana is ashamed of her poor life background and literally lies and fakes her way through life. It gets to the point that to pay off a debt of a dress she stole, she makes up this fundraiser gala that Lu eventually makes it a reality for her, in order for her to get the money to pay off the debt and keep the rest for her school, family, etc... that’s a con-artist, period. This bitch has no purpose except that she becomes Polo’s new partner in crime.  She hides  the trophy, y’all. That’s it, that’s the character.  She’s so bland. She is so useless. In all honesty, she is not needed, Polo could had turned on Carla and bring her down too, but deep down he is still in love with her and  his anxiety gets the best of him, and that I understand. Cayetana is now the worst character in the series. Con artist and partner in crime with a killer. 

Also, Polo is technically a killer but not really. He killed Marina, in what it looks like as a pre-anxiety breakdown and a fit of rage trying to protect Carla. Keep in mind he didn’t wanted to kill her, he actually asked  multiple times for the fucking watch , is not premeditated murder, he was trying to get the watch back and his worry over Carla pushed him to a breaking point. On top of that Marina coming at him made him snap. In season 2 his anxiety is in an all time high, due to the secret. He and Ander do bail out  Nano, but he never confesses. In a way I  do blame the writers in not wanting to bring Carla down, by not having Polo confess and point her as the one to suggest to cover up and shit, cause she was trying to protect daddy, who needs no fucking protection. This would have been completely different season, if Polo and Christian would had teamed up against Carla. That right there would have been fucking fantastic. In reality the culprit and catalyst of this are Marina and the watch, but the main problem is Carla’s dad. If Polo and Christian would had teamed up with Samuel and Guzman, it would have been a total different season, granted that also meant that Polo had to confess his act to Guzman, but it would have been a total different season. In reality Elite needs a villain and right now Polo is the easier choice. Is clear that if season 3 comes through, it will be a them vs  Polo + Cayetana, which is fine I guess, but it steers away from the actual reason it happened, the fucking watch. I’m not saying Carla’s dad is corrupt, but Carla’s dad is corrupt. 

Tl;dr: Season 2, exposes Polo by making Carla fall in love with Samuel. Lucrecia breaks cause she can’t have everything she wants, from Guzman to her brother, so she spreads a video of Nadia and Guzman having sex, real classy. Omander is still alive. Rebeca is a true friend. Guzman and Samuel are a good combo. Cayetana is a con artist that helps Polo to walk free by retrieving the trophy from the lake and hiding it. That’s it that’s the season. 

I do believe that Elite’s downfall is not wanting  to finish the murder storyline. Ideally they would wrap up the Marina murder storyline and shift the focus onto Carla’s dad and the  watch, but that shit  is not  going to  happen let’s be real. 

Overall score : Is a solid 4/5.

thoughts on elite season 2

- idk why but i found this season more engaging than the first which i only watched fragments of because i couldn’t be arsed to care about certain plotlines, but season 2 made me care about almost everyone? well, almost. but it was far more compelling anyway. 

-lucrecia/lu is turning out to be a Problematic Fave. she’s probably one of the more complex characters on the show. despite how wretched she can be,  i like how deeply she wants to be “seen” and understood and i def felt bad for her about guzman (oh, and we’ll get to him, ugh). her back and forth with valerio was both compelling and a little frustrating (valerio himself was both compelling and frustrating). i don’t think the writers put that much thought into it, but i liked the undercurrent of sadness in their bond which was far more interesting than the forbidden aspect (but yea ok, that was also hot, yall know me lol). the actors sold it pretty well. and that oscar wilde quote <3 incidentally, valerio reminds me of a romanian actor/singer who also starred in an incest-based drama awhile back.  but i have to say, one thing that really jumped out at me is how much of a secret gay lucrecia is. she has so much gay energy with almost every girl she comes up against, rebeca and nadia especially, it’s insane. every time she interacts with one of the dudes it’s so weak (except with valerio, but that dynamic is not so straightforward). whenever i see her sexy-whispering to some guy it feels like she’s faking it, like she’s being a vindictive but ultimately domesticated doll. and i think she knows this too and the performance wears her down. whereas she seems to come alive with women. her obsession with being betrayed and ignored and unloved by men might also stem from the fact that no man can ever give her what she truly wants. she’s def closeted imo, and her lil friendship with omar makes so much sense in that context too. petition to give lu a gilfriend in season 3, preferably rebeca.  

- rebeca, however, is the true MVP of the season for me. omg. i love!!! her!!! so!!! much!!!  i was SO MAD everyone slept on this grl!!! she’s funny and smart and brash and loyal and sweet and justasdfgdfsda NO ONE DESERVES HER. i also think her chemistry with lu should be explored further. (i wanna write fic where rebeca and lu make out at the halloween party after lu gets dumped)

- polo is also a Problematic Fave, even though i hope he goes down lol. i really like how the actor plays him as both volatile and fragile, like a stubborn asshole but also a sniveling brat who wants to be “redeemed” on his own terms. 

- i  can’t say i cared all that much about cayetana and her “maria del bario” subplot, i mean i didn’t feel all that sorry for her, but i do like the sharp edges given to her character. and while polo/cayetana is not that interesting to me, their bonnie and clyde shenanigans promise to be a lot of fun. it makes a lot of sense that she would be the one to help him, not only because of his kindness to her, but primarily because she likes taking things. literally. she seems desperately hungry for whatever polo can offer. 

-  omar/ander was sweet as always, and i liked their ups and downs and their more emotional moments, but good god was ander a petty asshole. when omar dressed up as dr. frank-n-furter and ander was being a tool about it and the others were shaming him for, u know, having a cool costume for halloween, i was like “omar, bby, you gotta stop hanging out with uncultured swine”. that being said, ander keeping polo’s secret for so long beggared belief. i understand the impossible scenario he was in and i like that they showed the inner turmoil but...yikes, it’s murder, dude.

- samuel/carla was...fine. i liked some of their more intense scenes, feeding off each other’s anger, plus the manipulations and the mindfuckery, but it was still lacking in substance for me. i also think carla becomes less interesting around him, whereas samuel has sort of grown up this season. idk, i’m ambivalent. 

and finally...

- nadia & guzman. SIGHHHHhhhhhhhhh. the couple & characters i was most looking forward to ended up being the most disappointing part of this season for me. i kind of hate them now. okay, maybe not hate them, but i am deeply annoyed. i think nadia was poorly written this season. i have no clue who this girl is, what she really wants, what she believes in. she was made to react in a certain way or do things just to carry the plot forward or to give the viewers some steamy scenes. literally, i was so frustrated with her and the lack of internal logic. even her confession to her parents at the end and their heartfelt hug felt hollow and unearned. and guzman, oh gaaaawwwwd, this douchebag and his constant edgy angst, i get iiiiiit, we get iiiiit, i just wanted him to be dooone. i really disliked him, even when they were framing him as troubled romantic hero. the nadia/guzman scenes were absolutely rushed, i’m sorry. their first kiss??? while nadia was super drunk and we get that weird disco editing that hides both their faces and it’s so fake-artsy and devoid of feeling and underwhelming??? NOPE. i thought this would be a big deal for nadia, for both of them actually, but when i saw how quickly they rushed into it i was disappointed. most of their interactions lacked that special intimacy they had in season 1. like yeah, the chemistry was there, but the angst felt manufactured, cuz i guess both he and nadia have no problem cheating and doing whatever the hell they want.  i also found it laughable that not even 15 minutes into the first episode guzman immediately tells her about the deal he made with her father...which cheapened the whole thing. i really thought that deal would carry weight and mean something....welp, guess not. all the interesting and significant obstacles they built around these characters were now revealed as a deck of playing cards. when halfway thru the season guzman lamented how he couldn’t be with nadia due to societal constraints i laughed out loud because clearly, that’s a surface problem for them. nadia does not seem at all attached to her faith and culture, so really, what’s to stop them from being together? her family? i don’t buy it. and my problem isn’t that nadia wants to break away from her muslim heritage and be with guzman; my problem is that we don’t know what the hell she wants and it doesn’t seem to matter. once upon a time i thought she cared a lot about her schoolwork and future career...but that seems to take a backseat for the guzman drama. halfway thru the season she doesn’t hang out with rebeca and omar anymore, and it’s just...disheartening to see her be all about this really mediocre dude. not even her budding friendship with valerio goes anywhere, which was a shame. others have talked about the troubling narrative of “westernizing” nadia and portraying it as the solution to her problems and while i think the show isn’t ready to push that agenda, i also feel like they have no fucking clue who this character is. anyway, i will stop here, but i’m genuinely disappointed and idk if this can be remedied in season 3. 

so overall, i enjoyed this season more, but boyyy did it disappoint where i was most expectant

so elite season 3........ basically it was extremely quality teen drama as ALWAYS! characters i used to not like such as Lu and Guzman actually rly developed into ppl i want to see succeeding this season. there were some missed opportunities, like when carla and rebeca were having their iconic feminist conversation in the last episode i was like 😍👏😊❤️😘💖 but then they immediately started talking about how they both love samuel? ew we didn’t need that.

i thought they were going to do something similar with what they did to Nadia and Lu this season where they go from competing with each other to being friends, except not as good because carla and rebeca are competing over a boy instead of intelligence/skill AND they didn’t even go that route like they did w Lu and Nadia which i Loved btw.

so just some stuff like that where they couldn’t totally break free of boring tropes but honestly the good moments we got, like the reverse party where the guys dressed slutty and the girls were in tuxes 👌 but we knew Lu was a self assured feminist legend, at least by the end. god i really related to her when polo was taunting her at the end about how nobody loves her and she substitutes that lack of love with fashion, status, and ambition.

kind of a lame kill scene tho. after all that build up we get a like half accident slip-jagged-object-into-ur-body moment instead of it being a crime of passion, which is more exciting imo.

but i could honestly ramble about so fucking much from this show bc there is so much to unpack (sign of good writing) and tbh who puts effort into tumblr posts so yeah basically it was good, entertaining television once again but with nadia, lu, and carla gone i’m not sure who i’m tuning into season 4 for. the only one still at the school who i care about is omar and i guess by extension ander but he rly needs to step up his bf game. also can the next person who dies be samuel pls thx
