Going against nature needs much work -

And people are working day in, day out, year in, year out, life in, life out,people are working hard to create more and more suffering for themselves.

If you are suffering, remember, you must be creating it.

There is no other way to suffer.

But if you feel blessed, then it is not your doing: it is a showering from the beyond.

Suffering is man-made, bliss is god-made -- bliss is your nature, your very nature, your very ground of being.

When this has been seen, you have come home.

Assesment 3- Experiment 6: this was one of my final experiments where I developed my photo on photoshop and played around with making them look like artworks and ruining the normal picture to see how the picture could fail and if it did. Pondering upon failure I took a the definition of failure and layered them on top of each digital artwork to see if it added to the concept of failure as a whole. I realised that through layering the definition my artwork was drawing more and more to failure as you can't read any of the words on the photo and they don't connect with anything in the photo. Not just that but also, I also saw this artwork in a different perspective where the position of the word failure ended up on her armpit which drew to my attention how it symbolised armpit hair, which for most girls to have in society is not traditional or expected.

Experiment 6, Assessment 3

In this experiment, I explored editing. I decided to take some images of the landscape surrounding Morton’s Place, and edit them by completely smudging them and eliminating their overall shape and form. The subject matter in the images becomes blurred and the viewer is unable to read text or see symbols, leaving them in a state of ‘what is that?’ The overall theme I have been exploring with this project relates to how society simply ignores and shames those who we should be supporting the most. By blurring images of the place (Morton’s Place/City Mission shelter) and surroundings that these people feel safe in, I find I am representing society’s quite ignorant behaviour. To truly understand what they are seeing, viewers must look at the images quite hard, thus, I find this represents how those viewers who do judge and shame these people who are the less fortunate members of our society, should take a good, hard look at themselves. This experiment, in my eyes, was quite successful, and I think it will work well in my final Zine. I’m excited to see how all the experiments I have done so far somehow find a place in the final product.

EXPERIMENT SIX CONTINUED

As I wrote that last part of the post I realised (from a previous experiment) that I could translate the poem from Latin to English and see what it says. These are the results:

It’s interesting that only some words were translated. It also shows a nice breakdown where we understand something but not everything. What meaning do we derive from what we understand, and the point that it intersects with non-meaning; how are we surprised when it means something and then jumbles and means nothing?

EXPERIMENT 6

Based on my concept for assessment three, I want to look at documentation and ways of seeing; the understanding that the information around us, what we sense (see) everyday, is greater and more extensive that we think. That we don't appreciate nor realize everything that surrounds us. 

I want to explore this basic idea, through the use of documentation,writing and documenting the things I see; objects, people, colors, etc.

This experiment was a basic experiment, where I documented the things around me in 5 mins, just general words and descriptions. 

However, I’m also aiming to focus on the absence of information and clarity; and the affect this has on our ability to perceive. So, I took the 5 minute documentation, and overlapped it, making it redundant in providing information.
