First week back at the gym after giving up on #regpark5x5. I decided to try designing my own program based on #powerbodybuilding because I fucking no longer feel like doing shit that takes me almost two hours. If your gym has a @roguefitness #assaultbike, give it a try. I used it for the first time today and I already feel like it'll have a PROFOUND, long term effect on my #overallconditioning, so long as I come up with a sound plan. With an assault bike you can easily crank up the resistance just by pedaling. And you can burn more calories since, much like an elliptical, you use ALL FOUR LIMBS. That's the REAL way to burn calories and improve your conditioning. Not by just walking on a treadmill or pedaling away on some stationary bike for over an hour at 5mph along with that old fuck who's practically knocking on death's door. So again, if you want to focus on improving your conditioning for an athletic goal and your gym has the Rogue Assault Bike, use it. When specifically improving your performance on the #big3, chose #accesorywork that MIMICS those moves. Specificity. And it doesn't have to be one or two specific exercises either before some shithead tries to tell me what's "best". Fuck that and you. But one of my personal (keyword girls!) favorite #squatvariations is the #gobletsquat. This can improve your performance because the dumbbell alone forces you to stabilize yourself, especially as you descend. Pause at the bottom of the last rep for added #timeundertension so the #quads can grow. Taken from the final night of my first self programmed #trainingblock. Here's the last set of 375x5x1, followed by 395x1 and then 405x1. I've pulled 400 for a triple and I've hit 410 for a single but I'd never pulled four plates before two nights ago. Good night...minus the late 90's Metallica being played. Decided to follow the advice of @untamedstrength and try benching with my feet flat as opposed to just being on the balls of my feet. I think it worked, although I clearly need to work on the grip width. Either way today was way better than yesterday's shit show if a workout. So here's 160 for a single. I've been experimenting with #autoregulation. So here's 267.5x3x8, 267.5lbs being 80% of my 1RM. So, for those of you that might not know, the gym is under new ownership as of right before Christmas, so the music is different for once. There are many ways to get a good #tittypump. One proven way? High volume. Don't just train the chest every single day. I'm talking #highvolume. Do more than "just" three sets. Do five like I'm doing here, or even more if you want. Fuck, if you're starting off with a light weight to warm up to something heavy I'd even recommend hitting 20 to 30 reps just to get the blood in there. I'm also hitting a one second pause at the bottom, a recommendation from @jimwendler, as a means to strengthen to triceps and increase your starting strength on the actual #benchpress. Guys, I'm not say that this'll get you tits as big as your woman's - and I don't know why you'd even want tits like your woman's to begin with! - but you might at least reach B cup status, just saying. Want to be good at the big lifts? Challenge yourself and do something you suck royally at. I suck royally at #safetybarsquats because I haven't done them since before I tore the cartilage in my right wrist in December 2017. Therefore, there's no balance between my #posteriorchain and my #anteriorchain. Do this shit to help keep your back upright when you use a traditional barbell.
