When specifically improving your performance on the #big3, chose #accesorywork that MIMICS those moves. Specificity. And it doesn't have to be one or two specific exercises either before some shithead tries to tell me what's "best". Fuck that and you. But one of my personal (keyword girls!) favorite #squatvariations is the #gobletsquat. This can improve your performance because the dumbbell alone forces you to stabilize yourself, especially as you descend. Pause at the bottom of the last rep for added #timeundertension so the #quads can grow. Let's talk a little more about #accesorywork! I posted a story a few weeks ago on how accessory work should accommodate your goals. So for the purpose of improving your numbers in the main lifts, the accessory moves you chose should somehow emulate portions of those lifts. Once again using the #benchpress for example, when you bench you rely on your lats, triceps, front delts and of course your pecs. So in training your pecs, you can perform #dumbbellflyes. Not only is it a great way to add shape to your chest and get blood in there, your emulating the finishing portion of the bench when you're squeezing your pecs at the top. Do you perform flyes? Phase 3 of the #rebuild featuring @startingstrength began today. I made sure I took my time with self myofascial release this morning in order to avoid my struggles from Thursday. So starting now the #deadlift frequency has been decreased yet again for the sake of recovery. The frequency if the #powerclean was also decreased. In its place I was able to add in #accesorywork in the form of eithet #hyperextensions of #chinups based on my needs. I chose hypers because I don't feel my wrist is ready for chins just yet. Hey! Back at the legendary @apollongym in Edison, NJ today. I'm a firm believer in performing #accesorywork, especially for the #posteriorchain , right before a #compoundmovement and I'm not "just" referring to the #lowerback yet again! I believe your #upperback and #middleback also should be warmed up, especially when you're preparing a big lifts or any variation. Take the #safetysquat for example. In order to be able to hold the bar as close to you as possible you'll want to squeeze those #lats as tightly as possible to keep every stable. Why not train your middle back and your lats first to ensure as optimal of #latactivation as you can achieve? This will also aid in keeping the upper back as upright as you can, although there's more to it than that, obviously. Do you agree with this, the idea is isolation key #musclegroups while they're fresh? Do you prefer to perform all accessories after? Let's talk, tell me your philosophy below! Will ya look at how thick those arms are getting?? Anyways, since #powerbodybuilding is a #hybrid style, incorporating ways to get both #strength AND #musclemass, #bodybuilding exercises are absolutely going to have a role here. I perform a few movements for the #lats and the #seatedcablerow is one of them because I can isolate my lats and also focus on SQUEEZING them. NEVER pull with your arms or force anything with your back. And if you do then you simply need to lower the weight. You never want to train bodybuilding moves or any #accesorywork with the same #intensity as #compoundmovements. First time hitting 320 in a while. Quick reminder to always BRACE before performing ANY major #compoundmovement. It'll keep your #core tight and your spine as straight as possible. Also, since this a heavy week, and this is 90% of my 1RM, I intentionally stayed away from supersetting #bandedpullaparts before the #squat sets as a means to rest a little more and conserve at least some energy. I also decrease most of my #accesorywork during my heavy weeks, which gives me more of an opportunity to put more work into the big lifts and perhaps even try for a PR.
