Hi, i gotta get this out here as soon as i can so here goes
so apparently someone didnt like my art (specifically the recent alecca drawing which as of now ive privated) and went off to some third grade f1 gossip cesspool instagram page and dropped my drawing down there and theyre basically publicly shaming my blog and my art specifically the rpf content
which is why im making this post as a refresher on what rpf actually is - real people fiction - key word FICTION
please for the love of god, understand that with any fandom space comes creation and that it comes in multiple forms of art writing music and so forth, and rpf has been a subculture of this specific f1 fandom for a LONG ASS TIME the most dated first f1 rpf fic goes back to literally mika/michael on ao3 in like 2002
us making this sort of content doesnt MEAN that we actually think of these drivers in this light, because that is the line that NONE of us should cross
how is it any different if one ships a driver with a model or a influencer, than us shipping them with another driver? in both cases it is still the 'real people' clause so why is one okay and the other 'vile and disgusting' (quoted exactly from the story they posted abt my art btw)
some part of me knows its not that deep, because it really isnt we all just want to support our favourite teams and drivers and have fun in this fandom space together and follow basic fandom etiquette, if you dont like, then dont interact, something i myself have been doing ever since i started liking formula 1
but another part of me knows that i shouldnt be getting shit online for stuff that i make for my small community of people, where we genuinely mean no harm and if it bothers you, then thats a personal issue of yours
rpf has been a long running subculture for decades now, it has certain moral boundaries that we all follow here and none of us cross it so its really disheartening to see that the stuff i made being plastered across on ig as dehumanising and fetishising, because the intention behind my art is nothing but of support and joy
and lastly i just wanna say, that if ur an active tumblr user and if my (in my opinion, very lowkey art compared to regular tumblr content) is getting you this worked up then u should consider changing social medias lmao
#gosh i dont even know why im dragged into this mess#please once again#if you dont like what i post just scroll away it is not meant for you then#f1#formula 1#formula one#carcar#f1 fanart#f1 drivers#f1 discourse#artists on tumblr#formula one fanart#formula 1 fanart

came across this reel and the comments are from a previous reel by a photographer who talks about why he stopped taking pictures of alex
not trying to cancel alex or anything, and there is nuance here, drivers are constantly photographed and hounded by paparazzi and they can get sick of it. at the same time Alex's "whole thing" is that he hates doing media and is snarky about it. but I can see why that reel, esp with james abcd co-signing like a multimillionaire driver and the team principal of a billionaire dollar team denigrating an entire profession one that's often underpaid and uncredited would rub a professional photographer the wrong way. ik my experience as a fan would be worse if we didn't have sick professional photos to reblog

Hi, I would like to know your opinion on my observations, but because it's a little controversial, feel free to just delete this if you don't want this on your blog — totally understandable.
So… it's about the 2 McLaren drivers and how the situation now perfectly aligns with the conditions that allow Oscar to win, but they might not last.
Oscar is brilliant when it comes to overtakes — I think this is his best skill. He still struggles with tire and race management and makes the occasional small, less risky mistakes, but because the car is so fast, it bails him out. Where he still struggles the most is pace, both in quali and in the race, and once again the car masks it, but I do believe it has bigger potential than we are shown by Oscar.
Lando, on the other hand, has pace as his biggest advantage. I believe if he ever puts it all together, we will see the full gap the car is capable of (30s ahead of the field), but his race craft is worse and his mistakes are monumental — risky stuff that the car can't cover in its entirety. He also obviously struggles when the championship is really on the line, like now and last year between Miami and Brazil.
So for Oscar to win, 2 things must be true:
1. He needs to have the fastest car by some margin so it can cover his issues with pace AND
2. Lando needs to crumble.
These are also the circumstances that happened last year (from summer break to Baku) when Oscar was scoring the most points.
So 2 things can interrupt his charge: the field converges enough that the car will not be able to cover the 2-3 tens he loses in pace, or Lando will rise up. Until that, Oscar is golden.
As many already said, this is the frustrating thing about the McLaren dominance: the driver that would be able to show off the car's real pace is making monumental mistakes, and the other driver is just not able to demonstrate how quick it actually is. Yet they are winning anyway.
I was nodding reading all this, I completely agree anon. Lando IS the better driver in the race, and I have to say I don't think Lando has any physical skill issue to work on. It's just pure mentality/racecraft with him. The problem is that focus/mentality is a huge part of this sport......and Oscar is able to pounce on Lando's poor mentality very easily (Monza lap 1 last year comes to mind).
The point about the McLaren is real, Max and Charles would be lapping everybody in that car. I think it's a more dominant car than the RB19 and we're just not seeing its full potential because Lando and Oscar aren't the Max calibre of driver.
I could see Oscar's championship charge dying with the new TD coming in Spain. All Max has to do is not let that championship gap get too wide while Red Bull scramble to try and improve the car. I think the McLaren will get slowed after the Spain TD, but the question is whether it will be enough. I think (after Charles who will pull a miracle Forza Ferrari etc.), Oscar is still the most likely to win this championship, followed by Max, then Lando just purely based on the car+driver combinations. I'd be a fool to count Max out at all, but it's whether the points gap gets too wide he can't recover even with the best driving in the world.

made the mistake of reading reddit comments on the post about max's tiff with ted, and people are really trying to argue that sky would be nicer to him if he weren't such a 'brick wall' to them.
let me repeat: people are saying his unwillingness to engage with sky due to the erosion of trust created by their insistence on fabricating and exacerbating drama is unreasonable, on a post where they are explicitly trying to bait him into giving a response that will inflame and exacerbate drama.
some people have nothing but air inside their skulls.
#max verstappen#I'm putting this here so that I don't go around bonking people on that thread#also lots of people saying it was a 'reasonable question'#maybe a reasonable topic. the wording and insinuation from ted was in no way reasonable.#f1 discourse#canada 25

ok weird take but ever since max hasn’t been winning back to back to back I’ve grown to really like him? like he’s so funny, takes no shit, and is such a talented driver. I hated seeing him win before but now I’m full on rooting for him if norris can’t take it

Flexible Front Wings AKA More FIA Clownery
If these tweets are accurate, the FIA has taken almost 3 months to investigate the flexible wings and now says it's "too late" to intervene because teams wouldn't be ready by the end of the season.
But of course, this means that - if the other teams want to have a level playing field - they need to spend their budget (which is capped) to catch up.
Which, by the FIA's own admission, there isn't enough time to do. So hopefully those teams have already been developing these new wings, otherwise they're just shit out of luck.
I really try not to be a tinhatter, but all this screams to me is that the FIA were either fully aware or willingly ignorant that the McLaren car (esp. but also Mercedes) is at best dubiously legal if not illegal but looked the other way because they wanted a title fight to maximize attention and profits.
And as the second tweet shows, when the FIA is incentivized to move quickly they can and have.
It also begs the question, where would the championship standings be if the FIA had actually looked into this when they were asked to?
There was so much talk about the 2021 championship being rigged by the FIA. Will there be the same talks now?

Controversial opinion (maybe 🤔): First of all let me just say ALL F1 drivers are rich and privileged (some of them had better upbringing than others but once you have reached f1 level you're in the top percentage).
I haven't seen media ever portraying max as humble but I digress. The way charles doesn't come off as "humble" (for a millionaire) is because of his lifestyle and the way he shows it off. While Max (who's definitely richer than Leclerc) keeps it on the down low. He's seen mostly seen playing sim racing, his clothes look ordinary and if you don't actually follow his close people (kelly and others) you won't see his lavish life. So I think that's it. This is not a criticism of anyone, I am just thinking out loud.

“they clearly favour sainz” my man didn’t get the seat for 2025. why would they favour him??? “so he can go and have options for other top teams” (something i read with my fucking eyes on this hellsite) i don’t know how to explain it to you that ferrari doesn’t care😭 it’s not like they owe sainz something. he was faster and he went for the gap. y’all wouldn’t have survived f1 pre 2000
#speaking as a tifosa ferrari didn’t care for 4 times wdc ferrari loverboy vettel. they won’t care about Sir lewis. they don’t fucking care#charles did an absolutely amazing race. he deserved the podium. but sainz was faster because he made the second stop#it’s not had to comprehend. they are racers they are supposed to race#ferrari let them fight just like in monza. y’all just hate that carlos came up on top#im not here to say sainz is better than leclerc. they’re very different drivers and personal opinions may differ#but today sainz was faster. sorry that happened!#god why did you give the strongest battle (read charlies stupid ass takes) to your hateful soldier (i have to try and not let them get#through me)#DONT TRY TO RESPOND WITH ANYTHING JULES ADJACENT THATS IS NOT YOUR GRIEF TO SPEAK ABOUT#f1 discourse#formula 1

I mean look at it this way. I think it’s very kind of Red Bull to give us quantifiable data points to use when we argue about just how hard Max is carrying that car and that team.

Istg, people are hating so much on every driver this weekend as if it's not valid to be angry and frustrated when your team is fucking up your strategies, calls, and pits— not to mention the poor radio updates. Not that some of them made poor mistakes and decisions too, but it's also not solely their faults as well.
Like seb said (not these exact lines, but near), "what do you expect to hear from someone when I hit them? oh, sebastian, that's not nice! ofcourse they're gonna be mad!"
going by this, if you think any drivers are way too mad or sad or frustrated this weekend, give them grace. they are humans, they can be sensitive and aggravated like us fans :))
this is a weekend to forget for all of us— both fans and drivers— so let's give them our support and pray that the next gp will be better for them.
additional notes:
— if you hear even one radio from any of the drivers, none of them sound amused. like us, they are pissed and frustrated
— check post race interviews.
— nico rosberg: "took out the spark/excitement out of oscar's first win, and upsetted lando" (basically putting the blame on neither drivers)
— almost all drivers had problems in the car upgrades or team strategies.
#formula 1#hungarian gp 2024#hungary 2024#f1 drivers#this goes for all of the drivers#and the fans that still argue who of the drivers are at fault#obviously its mclarens fault#f1 opinions#f1 discourse#this needs to be said#lando norris#oscar piastri

listen, i'm absolutely not denying the influence of anti-semitism in the lance stroll hate but to compare nico rosberg's father creating a karting team for him with lance stroll's father buying an f1 team for him is ridiculous. the two are in no way equivalent
I think they are comparable, not equivalent. There is a difference.
Additionally, it was one example. The sport is rife with examples of people with money paying their way, getting extra boosts because of resources and connections, keeping a seat when they're underperforming bc of money and connections, etc.
My point is not to compare those and see what is worse, or to create a flurry of discourse around which extension of nepotism is the worst. It's to point to the fact that it is very much happening with other drivers of the past and present, and yet, the obsession is directed towards Lance.
And not all critique of Lance or Lawrence is antisemitic, obviously. But the hyperfixation of his status as a nepo baby and as undeserving/underperforming his seat is bare minimum influenced by antisemitism. And I'm glad you're not denying it, that would be pretty shitty.

hello everyone ! anons are off until I stop getting really vile, nasty death threats or you can send them through your main acc which I would respect more
yes it's a millionaire's sport, yes everybody is problematic, yes even the guys I like have done problematic things, no I'm not saying you should cancel daniel. I just wanted to point out his pattern of repeated casual misogyny -- thrice in podcasts over the span of this last year. I'm not bringing back receipts from 5 years ago this is from two days ago and I didn't see anyone talking about it at the time of my posting. yes I believe people can grow and change. I was angry when I saw the clip and my post reflects that. I've gotten countless anons tone policing me, saying I'm blowing it out of proportion, that I don't understand comedy or can't take a joke - and thats without mentioning the personal attacks. it's just 34 year old aussie men being men, why do I even care about this when there's more important issues in the world. why are you surprised. why do you care. he's just a rich man. you're dumb for expecting the bare minimum of not laughing at sexist jokes. why are you surprised I'm not surprised this is just what dumb rich men are like. why are you pointing this out when [whataboutism]. why do you care.
you can be critical of your faves, and still enjoy them. I hope you can reflect on why my anger bothered you more than daniel's casual misogyny.
#to my friends in dms thank you for keeping me sane <3#if you guys saw the state of my askbox.#f1 discourse#daniel ricciardo

I think I'm a lot more annoyed by that article because he is so much nicer towards Lando saying that his mistakes are all a part of growing up? The hypocrisy is insane
Charles has just turned 27 too??? Make it make sense
