Ok. Is it just me, or is the lore in SOTM absolutely insane?
I can't be the only one who thinks this is ridiculous. I mean the sci-fi bullshit thing was already overstaying it's welcome with the whole remnant collection stuff in SL, then it got weirder with the illusion disks and especially the gas chamber thing, and now this? It's like the lore just keeps getting crazier and more absurd.
Don't get me wrong, I like this game. I have a few gripes with it, but overall I like the gameplay and the storytelling throughout most of it. It's really towards the end where it's giving me an aneurysm.
Like, can we all agree that the underground pizzeria thing doesn't make much sense? This is 1979, right? FNAF 1 comes after FNAF 2 in the timeline, yet they have the FNAF 1 designs for the characters? At the very least, wouldn't it be the Withered models in prototype form?
Also, why would he need this underground pizzeria to create character prototypes? It would be one thing if they were just in a storage unit or something, but this dude built a whole pizzeria underneath the building. How?? And why?? Did he do that??
It feels like they're trying to compensate for the total confusion that was created with the underground pizzeria in SB, but they just added a new layer to the lore that made it even more confusing. Then there's the whole thing with the house and how apparently William took it from Edwin, so now he owns the house, and I guess that's how he got ownership of the place that would become Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental? Again, why would William have any interest in Edwin's house?
There are two things that really peeved me when I saw them: one, adding in Edwin and giving him the title of "guy who actually made most of the stuff"; and two, the crazy ass backstory with Edwin and the Mimic.
I'll start with the character creation thing first. I don't mind Edwin being the original creator of the SB animatronics, it's just the originals that feel weird. It doesn't make much sense to suddenly add in this new character and assign him a role in the story that was previously, for many years, filled by a different person. I know I'm not the only one to ask this, but what the fuck does Henry do then? Henry has been set up for years, starting with the novel series, as the robotics side of the company and the one who made all of the robots, specifically the main 4 and the springlocks. All of that was Henry's domain; that wasn't something they needed to create a new explanation for. We had a guy to fill that role already, and instead of using him at all, they vaguely name dropped him twice to be like "oh yeah he's still here" without clarifying any of the specifics of what Henry actually did. It feels like he's even more invisible than he was before, and now lacks a chunk of the relevancy that made him so important to the franchise. It's left unclear whether Edwin actually made the original cast or if they were commissioned, but he does freak out at one point and said all his stuff was stolen. Even if it was the commission option, it still feels kinda weird. Again, Henry was supposed to be the guy who made the characters, so what happened with that? It would make more sense (to me at least) if their partnership with MCM was for the recording stage and the MCM designs were for Fredbear and Friends or the record album. Now we don't even know if the ideas for the characters belonged to Henry or not, which was something that seemed cut and dry before.
It's not that I don't like Edwin's character, they actually did a nice job of characterizing him compared to the rest of the ones in the franchise, but that's also part of the problem. Instead of elaborating on characters that already existed prior and delving more into them, they just introduce new ones and give them the character depth and lore relevance that is lacking in the original cast. Edwin and his family are given the privilege of having rounded personalities, backstory prior to the main events of the game, and even real human faces to put to the names. Why can't we have that with William and Henry? Henry was in one game. He was unreachable the whole time, dropped a few tidbits of lore about his daughter and his relationship with William, and then he died and was never mentioned again until now. He didn't even specify that his name was Henry, it's implied in the blueprints and assumed from the novels.
Speaking of the novels, Edwin is literally just the novel version of Henry with a new coat of paint slapped on it. They're both neglectful dads who are too absorbed in their work to actually interact with their children, they both made their child cry and had very weird tone-deaf responses to it (Edwin when he scared baby David with the puppet Roxy and Henry when he just took apart that frog toy for Charlie and she freaked out even more), they both ended up as single parents (Edwin's wife died and Henry's wife left and took Sammy), they both live in secluded houses that connect to a goddamn underground pizzeria where the Funtimes were kept, they both built fucking robots to replace their dead child/family member (Edwin did that shit twice), they were both absorbed in their grief and projected that grief onto the robot they built to replace said dead child to the point where the robot learned anger and resentment, and they were both eventually killed by their creation (Henry on purpose and Edwin as an unintended consequence). I thought we left that robot replacing a human thing behind, but here we are again.
The Charliebot thing was weird as hell when it happened in The Fourth Closet, but apparently Scott really likes the idea of a depressed dad rebuilding his child as a robot as their weird form of coping. Honestly, I think the Mimic stuff is worse. The Charliebot thing was already strange with the "four versions of Charlie where one is her doll and one is Circus Baby" nonsense, but now there's a robo-wife who used to be the og Mimic who's now trapped in a computer, and the current Mimic was a replacement for David. I thought the whole point of the Mimic was that it was basically David's best friend and Edwin destroyed it because it kept copying his son after David died, which also happened in the game, it's just that the M2 was supposed to be a new David, and it wasn't even finished when he destroyed it because he had the Henry Emily experience of discarding your batshit project after finally realizing it's not gonna fix your loss.
He kept a robo-wife for like a year and actually treated M1 like it was his dead wife, and now it's trapped in a computer (also M1 is MXES too now so how does that work exactly)? Plus it turns out Fazbear Entertainment wasn't forcing the technicians to get the Mimic because it was M1 the whole time? Did Fazbear Entertainment not notice that a lot of their technicians were being called on projects and then going missing? How long has M1 been doing this? How exactly did M1 manage to call all of these people and know their names ahead of time? I don't understand what the hell is going on here.
Also, what happened to the Mimic after the game? I'm guessing the canon ending would be either the one where you hand the Data Diver over or the Parachute Ending, but then what happened to the Mimic? It stole the blueprints to create more of itself or adapt or something, right? So did it just go back down to MCM and sit there for a while? Oh yeah, that also means that MCM is where the Pizzaplex will be at some point. So not only is that spot both the MCM and the Pizzaplex, but it's also the FFPS location, the SL rental service, and they all connect to the house in SL which was Edwin's but now William owns it or something. It's very over the top and unnecessarily convoluted.
I don't know, it just feels like everything is wrong. It's not like this exact storytelling issue hasn't happened before, this type of shenanigans has been a staple of the FNAF story since FNAF 4 and SL. When Scott makes a game with too many questions that don't have concrete answers or don't make sense, he uses the next game to switch the clarification on parts we thought we understood pretty definitively instead of actually filling in the parts that were needing more information. It's a cycle of trying to fill holes in the story with even crazier stuff that ends up opening even more holes until it's like a slice of mutilated cheese that was run over by a bus ten times.

While F10-N4 seems to act more like your standard 70's housewife, Fiona seems to have been a bit more willful and independent in life. She seems to have been just as involved in running MCM as Edwin was, with the two having been as close to partners as a married couple in the 70's could've been.
F10-N4, meanwhile, has Edwin being more clearly in charge, perhaps as a result of her being a machine that was legally Edwin's property, so even when he was having M1 act like Fiona, he probably didn't view F10-N4 as a partner the way he did with his wife.
Most tellingly, we get an audio log where he realizes that having a robot act like his late wife was HORRIBLY unhealthy...
But in a way that denies F10-N4's personhood.
The big difference between F10-N4 and Fiona is that Fiona was Edwin's partner, while F10-N4 was his servant.
That's probably why F10-N4 seems to somewhat resent Edwin (even if she still loves him and just wants him to change his ways): She knows how things USED to be between him and the real Fiona (and she's programmed to believe herself to be a continuation of the original).
THIS. This is exactly their dynamic. Fiona was his real wife, she had so much involvement in MCM, and more or less, everyone flocked to MCM because of her and her skills. Everyone loved Fiona. But then she died in FallFest... and things just weren't the same without her around.
Edwin made F10-NA to cope with the loss of his wife. I think AI really is so interesting in this franchise, because as we can see from the Glamrocks, they've gained sentience, emotion and personhood. Glamrock Freddy MISSES Glamrock Bonnie, Fiona MISSES David.
Even if F10-NA isn't the real Fiona, she truly believes she is, she was made to care for David. Though a part of me wonders if she ever saw M2, if she would truly see him as her son.

(SOTM spoilers, talking about Edwin and his relationships - removing the readmore on my posts since it’s been a week)
I wonder if people have caught onto the fact that the moment Edwin received the company, everything and everyone else became increasingly secondary to it… rather than his downfall being something purely started by Fazbear Ent. A lot of different voicelines point to this.
It’s not a surprise that he sounded annoyed when Fiona died, she was a great asset to the company as both the creative lead and David’s caretaker. He loved her, but he started distancing himself more and more from her, David, and everyone else at the company over time. Fiona mentions it’s hard to even get some information through to him unless it’s through Mrs. Helpful. The first thing he tells Fiona during his proposal is how much she’s helped build up the company, and then he mentions her other attributes after that. M2’s mocking voicelines to Edwin are about his work, F10 N4 begs him to give up on the company to focus on M2. Which was what Fiona was asking of him in the first place, in a way. To stop focusing on his work to focus on his family, his friends.
Edwin loved Fiona, David, and all of his friends. But the success of his company was what took over his mind, enough to start sacrificing all of that, and ultimately that’s how William knew it’d be so easy to trick him.
He knew Edwin would do anything for the company, especially something stupid. It’s not until he’s lost everyone that he realizes what he once had.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE BIGGEST REVEAL OF FNAF: SECRET OF THE MIMIC. CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK.
So... this is your final warning. I'm going to post FOUR screenshots here. All four are huge spoilers for the endings of the game. The big twists you never saw coming. If you're sure about spoiling this for yourself, then look on. DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED OR PLAYED THE GAME YET.
[THIS POST HAS BEEN RE-EDITED TWICE SINCE BEING POSTED BECAUSE I MADE MISTAKES WITH HOW I UNDERSTOOD THE STORY]
Tumblr media
F10-N4. Fiona Murray is inside it. How, you may ask? Well... after the real Fiona Murray died at Fall Fest, Edwin built the prototype for The Mimic, which he called M1. He built M1 to look after David, to save money on babysitters. M1, who was programmed to mimic humans, began to take on the qualities of Fiona Murray.
Tumblr media
M1 even helped prepare a birthday cake for David's final birthday, the day he accidentally ran out into the street chasing his ball. David never got a single bite of that cake.
With David's death, M1 convinced Edwin to create a second Mimic, M2, a copy of her program, in order to mimic David and replace him so they could be a family. Edwin took Fiona's program out of the Mimic and created F10-N4 to store her. Edwin then put a David mimicking program in The Mimic, and it worked, but Edwin refused to recognize him as his son. M2 tried to make Edwin happy by imitating David, but instead it enraged him. Edwin Murray physically lashed out at M2, nearly destroying it. That act taught M2 how to mimic anger and violence.
M2 became violent, wreaking havoc around the factory. M1 tried to encourage Edwin to fix M2, but he never got to because M2 attacked him. M2 then created blueprints for something to contain M2, The Cradle.
Tumblr media
This is M2 as David. You have to do something very specific to see this. I'm not saying what.
M2 is the Mimic that has been trying to kill Arnold the entire game. He also supposedly killed Edwin, though his ultimate fate is honestly unknown. M2 seems to resent Edwin for neglecting David, mocking him with his own dismissive words to his son after gravely injuring the inventor in an explosion.
... I still can't believe there were two Mimics.
Oh, and there's one other thing:
Tumblr media
The Cradle's official name is M.X.E.S... Mechanical X-form Experimental Storage.

the only thing I really care about with fnaf is william and all the details on what's going on between him and edwin are fuzzy to me. im hearing different stuff from different people and im sure there's stuff dawko missed in his playthrough that makes things make more sense .. .... . as long as william still engineered a lot of the animatronicsi don't give a shit
I haven't slept and I'm too exhausted to try and understand what the fuck is going on lore-wise but the new fnaf games cool. I feel positive about like 80% of it. There's a couple major things I don't like admittedly but I hope I'm just misunderstanding something and it's not as annoying as im perceiving it to be

Jackie is way more like Sun and Moon!!
If you haven´t watched sotm Spoiler ahead!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sun + Moon = Jackie
Jackie is way too much like Sun and Moon. Jackie got it both, the Fun side and energy from Sun. They also got the twisted side of Moon. All of these 3 do not know anything of giving a person personal space. Standing in front of the player and talk very much.
The thing is if Sun and Moon would merge become 1 person they be exactly like Jackie talking. But in the Ruin DLC we didn´t see a Jackie,.. We see a very soft spoken Eclipse. This DLC Eclipse is nothing what Sun and Moon would look like.
The DLC Eclipse is like more Human like:
Tumblr media
He is smart and have a `safty mode` on. Like why does he have this? Sun and Moon do not have a program for keeping children safe. Sun and moon are program to take care of children but Sun is way to much energy to keep the kids awake (Letting them not sleep and leaving the lights on. Which is not good for kids). Moon is effected with a virus and is only bad. So HOW does Eclipse just have a safty mode on and what can this safty mode all do?
There is something else, Eclipse seems to be more similar. I talking about F10-N4 program. A female program named Fiona:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Fiona is made to be think that she is Edwin Murray´s Dead Wife, Fiona, but she is a machine. Made to protect David, be mother figure and be exactly what the real Fiona sound like. We also see her looking like the Avatar from a old Sun woman from the Moon.exe game. I call her Fiona 2, since she is the not Original Fiona.
So where are Fiona 2 and Eclipse similar? Firstly look the way how both look like. Fiona 2 can have 1 glowing red eye and so does Eclipse have 1 Eye which also glow red. Both side´s have ray´s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fiona 2 have 3 ways how she could look like. She can be walking around and be like a endoskeleton, because she also Mimic 1. Then there is the old Sun avatar from Moon.exe game and then she is also a super PC, which look like a box with a bunch of monitor´s. So..... Fiona is like a shapeshifter. She can look like what she want to look like, if she want she could look like Eclipse too. But it´s not about similar look´s.
Fiona 2 is very kind, she is a Mother figure towards David (David is the child of Fiona and Edwin). She also in deaply in love with Edwin. Eclipse is kind and gentle and he is smart. Fiona 2 know how to reprogram games (or even to reprogram the Mimic 2) With other words, both are intelligent and both of them care a lot of Children. Eclipse care about seeing Cassie and run a safe mode on and Fiona 2 care more about David then about Edwin love (Which she said in one of the ending´s towards the player). Then there is even Edwin. He is very Smart too because he made Mimic and the other endoskeleton and more. Eclipse seems to know much, he mention Cassie can come back soon (Cause he is going to fix the Daycare up).
(Also Sun and Moon are just performer who been rebuild to be daycare caretaker. These 2 are not smart brain´s like Eclipse. They can´t even leave the daycare or can fix themself up. Been force to switch between Light´s on and off)
Then there is Eclipse who alive for a few sec and fix Sun and Moon the moment he wake´s up as if every human before who try to fix moon´s virus look like so stupid around him.
Let´s See Eclipse is able to fix Moon quickly, So who also can do this? Yes Fiona 2 also can also do the same. When she give the player a glich permission. The player can use his Faz-Wrench to reboot M2. Fiona 2 have a program to let M2 be fix in a sec.
..wait So Eclipse is More like Fiona 2 (Gasp Eclipse have a Mom??)? Jackie is more like Sun and Moon. So what happen to Jackie and how does Eclipse end up in the same body as with Sun and Moon?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think, After the secret of the mimic game, fazbear entertainment took Jackie and Jackie was broken down. So nobody could use it, but the program could be reused! So,..
Someone could takeing Jackie Program split it in 2. Put the Jackie program in a Jester Sun and Moon look a like and we would have Sundrop and Moondrop.
Which if Jackie got change to be the Birthday Clown to a Jester Performer. Switching between the Light´s On and Off (Sun and Moon do not knowing of being a birthday clown and think themself as a performer duo). I think a leftover Jackie´s old program could effect Moon slowly. So the jackie virus could effect Moon. So moon use to be normal but glich sometimes to Jackie. After Moon lose themself to act similar like Jackie, Fazbear didn´t know what to do or what even is happening to Moon. (Also odd how in Help wanted 2 we also spot a JACK O MOON. Dang switching between Jack o sun. This Jack part is Jackie old code. i think who ever reprogram Sun and Moon did a terrible job. So Jackie is Moon´s bug.)
People trying to Fix Moon. They couldn´t so they shouse to ONLY use Sun. Made sure that the light´s stay on.
Now,.. Let´s say Eclipse is like Fiona 2. He also can move in other body´s and he show up 1 day to Fix Sun and Moon. He go in the program from Sun and Moon and was on his way to fix them. He also seem´s to be interessed in to get to know Sun and Moon while he could fix Moon quickly, i think he let himself a bit of time. Then Fazber just deside to get rit of Sun and Moon completly and try to reprogram Sun and Moon. Eclipse taking a nap. Sun and Moon been like reborn as like Performer/Caretaker. When Cassie reboot Sun and Moon. Eclipse come back and fix Moon. Moon is tired and sleep. Sun is also tired but come out of eclipse shortly to say thanks, and then he let Eclipse takeing charge.
Which I think Eclipse could leave Sun,Moon go in a endo or in whatever else body. Could fix Animatronic´s and be on his way to go where hell he come from.
If Eclipse is the kid and Fiona 2 is mother. They live in Edwin´s Mansion. Cause this is where Fiona 2 would be. Maybe Eclipse mission is search For Fiona 2. He don´t find her cause maybe she is MXES? Or she is alive, still waiting all years. Alright Eclipse is grounded forever.
Eclipse: eh, Mom i can explain-
Fiona 2: it´s 32 years and now you show up!!!?
Eclipse: yes!?

Spoilers for Secret of the Mimic
If we're still wary of spoilers, Idk
.
.
.
I can't wait for the happy AUs of this game. Please, I just want Arnold and M2 to be happy. It can be like those Poppy Playtime Happy AUs
Like, you can simply use the secret ending as the base of the AU, or M2 having a change of heart for some odd reason and saves Arnold in the Parachute ending, or something like that. Take M1/F10-N4 with us along with the Clean-O-Vac and the other animatronics (if the other animatronics are sentient and not overly broken to the point of being dead, somehow deal with the Moon guy downstairs cause apparently thats just a straight up ghost, and maybe the White Tiger too I've heard tho that one may just be M2 Idk (Also, y'all think that how William learned about possession/remnant or at least knew it was truly possible if he was trying at Fall Fest? I like to think so), it can be a slice of life thing while trying to make sure the greedy asses at Fazbears don't find you, even fix Edwin house or even factory maybe if that's stretching it (all of this is stretching tho)
There's so many possibilities of Happy AUs in this, and, again, I just want to see M2 and Arnold happy and not murderous/scared for once, I know that fnaf doesn't usually lean that way, definitely in this game, but AUs exists

So Uhhh... SOTM DayCarw Attendant Lore, Huh? (SPOILERS)
Secret Of The Mimic has some...interesting... Daycare Attendant lore and designs.
The Moon suit is straight-up hilarious. I'm sorry. I was expecting possible prototype models for Sun and Moon, but that one really caught me off guard. Gotta love ball Moon.
Moon.exe is the most interesting piece of Daycare Attendant lore by far, though. It seems to have double implications. For starters, it seemingly does some representational storytelling about Fiona, Edwin, and the Mimic. But I'm going to assume it also has implications regarding the Daycare Attendant. In Moon.exe, we find pieces to build Moon. We straight-up see and build the same design that we see in Security Breach. That has gotta be more than just a coincidence and more than just representing the Murray family. Sun is also Fiona. F10-N4 is also represented as a sun on her when we "meet her face-to-face." We also see a lot of sun and moon props throughout the game. We do not see any sort of costume design for Sun himself, however, nor do we see one for Eclipse.
I haven't had much time to sit and properly comprehend the meaning of any of this stuff fully, at least in regards to the Daycare Attendant himself. The game hasn't been out that long, after all.
Did F10-N4 perhaps design the current design Daycare Attendant we know and love? I don't think she designed Sleepy Moon (Ball Moon). I mean, it seems like something either of them could have designed. Like a love child of sorts. Just like M2. As I theorized, the Data Diver is definitely involved in their creation. It is literally called Moon.exe as well. It's pretty straightforward what that entails, and what its original purpose was. Although we see Fiona being represented by a sun, we don't see Sun's design itself anywhere in the game. He is nonexistent in both the main game and Moon.exe. Same with Eclipse. It looks like Moon came before Sun for sure, unless there was maybe a Fall Fest Sun design we have yet to see in the future. I don't know.
All I know is, Moon's current design can be seen in Moon.exe, and that we see a suit version of him in the secret basement. The ending where we rebuild him in Moon.exe is not the canon ending, which is why I haven't mentioned the line "You rebuilt yourself, but now you are split in two." In that ending, it is mostly used to symbolize the story we see unfold in the main game. We obviously didn't build Sun and Moon via Moon.exe. But I do believe Moon.exe is, well, storing Moon's programming, as its name would suggest. Serves as a fun minigame with lore implications as well. It doesn't explain where Sun or even their merged form, Eclipse, came from. We can only speculate there.
Someone ended up with the Data Diver regardless. Someone who likely used it to build Moon, or perhaps the entire Daycare Attendant. Whether this is the Mimic, F10-N4, or someone else, we can't yet say. But whoever ended up with it would have access to Moon.exe. We know Sun/Moon/Eclipse are all connected to the Data Diver and its future form, the Faz Wrench, in some way. We just have to put the pieces together to figure it out...

okay I'm so confused if we actually vanquished talesgames for good I'm seeing so many conflicting things. like fiona definitely dies at fallfest now which conflicts her thing but f10 n4 exists so talesgames people can worm their way out of it by bringing up mimic Fiona possibly being behind this.

FNAF: Secret of the Mimic
Spoilers ahead so be warned.
Ok so, I just finished watching a play-through and they took the not giving up the data-diver and going through the 1st location and then the house ending. There are plenty of important things to learn from this.
First off: When going into the first location that's under construction we see that Foxy, Chica, Monty, Fredbear, Yellow Rabbit, Bonnie, and Bud (A dog animatronic?) seem to all be there. Most interesting is that Monty is there, because he does not appear in any location until we see him in Security Breach. As for Bud, I think he was just an easter egg to the faux dog animatronic myth in FNAF 1.
Secondly: We discover that M1 is a replica of Fiona (which is something I kind of assumed but I did not expect to actually see). What is so important about this is that earlier in the game we know that Fiona attends Fall Fest because she is worried about something going wrong. We also know that this Fall Fest is the one that burns down and Fiona dies in the process. This is important to note because Edwin mentions that he does not know how to get the M2 program to work, and he is not even sure why the M1 program works in the first place. Molten Metal and it's properties in this franchise is a big deal... so the fact that Fiona died in a fire near a bunch of Edwin Murray's creations... also based on Dollie's area we know that Edwin recycled a lot of his broken machines to create new ones. So if Fall Fest burns down and Fiona dies in that fire and has her soul bonded to the metal, which is then recycled by Edwin and used to make the M1, that would explain the missing piece of why it worked. That was the part that Edwin could not quite understand, but would be something that both Afton and Henry would come to learn.
Speaking of Henry, his place in the lore is a little weird right now. William Afton is assumed to be the C.E.O. of Fazbear, or at least a very important person within the business (this is confirmed by mail in SotM in which he mentions to someone that he can get them a franchise store to run). Edwin and Fiona Murray are the creators of the characters that Fazbear uses, Fiona designed most of the characters (and likely their backstories as well) and Edwin designed the physical suits and the spring-lock mechanisms. Based on clues throughout the game it is heavily implied that Henry and Edwin are friends (Edwin refers to him as "Hen" multiple times), and within that same voice note we discover that it's Henry who tells Edwin to redesign the suits so that endoskeletons can fit within them (to cut on labor costs apparently). The solution seems to be that while Edwin created all of suits, Henry designed the endoskeletons... except that the Mimic and Endoskeletons look very similar to each other. Which could imply a number of things. Maybe they just happened to look the same, they were both designed to do the same things (fit into suits), so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that they just happened to be similar. Of course we know that other creators and designers work at MCM so it's also likely that Henry was one of these and maybe the liaison to Fazbear (before joining the Fazbear team later). This could mean that the Mimic is based on Henry's endoskeleton design and that Henry would then betray Edwin by giving a lot of his information over to Fazbear.
We do know 100% that Edwin is the creator of the program that runs the mimic and clearly has built machines and whatnot in the past. However, it is never specifically stated within the games (as far as I have seen) that he built the body that the Mimic inhabits. Also, no one else seems to know about M1 or M2 other than Edwin and David, F10-N4 mentions this to Edwin saying that he should not tell anyone about her, though it is pretty unclear if he does or does not.
It's about to get a little crazier with unfounded theorizing so bare with me: I think that Edwin works at MCM under his father, maybe they still make things but definitely not robotics. Within this time of working under his father Edwin meets Fiona, they has a wonderful meet-cute, yay. Then his father dies and Edwin takes over and decides to pivot the company to a more robotic/invention route. Edwin and Henry work together during this point (whether or not they both worked together Edwin's dad is unclear) and are both inventors and creators. Fazbear then licenses MCM to use their machines and characters for Fall Fest (once again it is unclear what franchises are open under Fazbear during this time). Then that Fall Fest happens and Fiona dies in a fire leaving Edwin to mourn and create the M1 mimic which assumes her personality. The idea to create the M1 is probably from Edwin hearing Fiona in certain radio signals throughout MCM (Maybe some of her soul metal was used to create these radios?). M1 is created and it is a success, however, now that Fiona is gone Edwin does not really have time to look after David (his and Fiona's son) so he builds the M2 to be a babysitter of sorts. Then sometime in around December 6th David dies (I think in the books he's hit by a car, and it is heavily implied that this is also true within the games). This causes Edwin to spiral and he tries to make M2 a copy of David, and fails tremendously without even knowing why (it is probably the lack of soul metal). During this time he is not really focusing on MCM and it's going under bad, also the employees are not happy with him at all. So Fazbear swoops in and starts to employ them/offer them rewards of they join the team and also give insight into Edwin's creations. Fazbear is still employing Edwin's services at this time as well, he is working on the "Fazbear Project" which turns out to be the first ever Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Fazbear Entertainment seems to be a very difficult customer to work with, because right towards the end of the project they send him new designs for the animotronics. Before this project is completed MCM goes under and Edwin is overcome with grief trying to get M2 to be David. Eventually while working on that an explosion happens and the M2 (learning from Edwin himself) leaves Edwin to die because the M2 is "too busy."
I'd like to think that the endoskeletons we see are likely Henry's design (what else would be his purpose at this point?), but maybe the technology that makes them work has always been Mimic in nature. I think somehow Henry caught wind of the M1 or M2 programs and it was his job to recreate them for Fazbear to use in their animatronics. This would also lend a hand to the whole kids possessing suits thing, rather than an actual full on possession the animatronics are mimicking the children's behaviors while they are also stuffed within the suits (there is also an element of actual possession with the whole soul metal thing so...).
This is a lot to take in and I'm not even done with seeing 100% of the game but I wanted to throw some initial thoughts out there to clear my head a bit. I also really want to know the canonicity of every single game before the first Help Wanted (thinking heavily about the "game within a game universe" detail that gets dropped at the start of that). There are a lot of clear parallels between SotM and the first 4 "core" FNAF games.
The house on the Hill being both where the Murray's live and where it was assumed the Afton's lived in FNAF 4.
The bedroom in Moon.exe looking extremely similar in layout to the bedroom in FNAF 4.
The FNAF 3 map laying on a table within the Pizza location under MCM.
The pizza location under MCM having the same layout as FNAF 1. (Also the fact that you take the role of the animatronics breaking into the security office to discover F10-N4 seems like a major detail).
Also Edwin mentions that he wants to stick with the original designs of the characters as opposed to the new "creepy" designs that Fazbear proposes. While this could be a nod to the early days of Scott's game dev experience, I wonder if the new designs are the FNAF 2 Toy Animatronics.
Also there's a lot of overlap between the characters of FNAF 6 and all the ones seen throughout MCM (clearly tying together the idea that Fazbear Entertainment kind of just stole everything from Edwin).
This is as much as I can think right now, but I really want to review lore from the older games while viewing them as games within the universe themselves. Basically saying "What do these games that don't have all the information conveying in broad strokes?" Just finding overarching parallels and whatnot.
Also I feel like Sister Location is just screaming at me, something to do with Ennard and it taking over Michael's body. There's some theory about the Mimic stealing William's identity and that way he's still alive, albeit, super murderous (though I'm sure he's just one insane guy, no mass murder robot needed).

So what does Candy Cadets story in RUIN mean now after SOTM?
Now that it’s been a few days since sotm released and people have been replaying the game, out of bounds exploring, and theorising… it got me thinking about how this leads up to ruin and how does that change our view on the mimic now that we know its origins?
we met candy cadet and to my understanding, it led us (at least me) to think the mimic killed David. Is that still true? Is there evidence that David was killed by the mimic? Is this story now confirming a whole piece to the Murry family?
candy cadets story in Ruin goes like this:
“Now I will tell you a story. About a mother and a little boy who lived alone in a cabin in the dark woods. There was a monster in the woods, but the mother caught it and kept it locked in the basement. The monster always made scary noises at night, but the mother would tell the boy not to worry because it could never get out. Then she would sing the boy a lullaby to sleep. One day, the monster stopped growling and instead, listened and learned the lullaby. The next day when the mother went out to find food, the monster sang the lullaby from the basement. The little boy heard the lullaby and opened the door.”
it was always Fiona and David, Edwin wasn’t really around for them, for his family as he prioritised his work and contract for Fazbear. When I think cabin in the woods, I think of their house because it feels so deep somewhere after managing those underground tunnels just to get to the house in SOTM. M1, but it could also mean F10-N4, who is trapped under the warehouse, that could be considered a basement because of how far deep the Research and Development room is. M1 is still a mimic program that learned to mimic voices, but has a conscience. M2 (mimic we see in ruin) is just a program that is mimicking action and abuse that it was taught by Edwin. If it has a conscience, it shows it by mimicking words already said to it back to Edwin. We know it hurts but all it knows is to hurt and hurt others.
Who was luring and so who did it lure? What does the story mean now?

(SOTM spoilers, talking about Edwin, The Storyteller, & Security Breach - removing the readmore on my posts since it’s been a week)
I’m honestly kind of surprised I haven’t seen anyone talking about the possibility that Edwin might’ve designed the Glamrocks himself, considering he was working at the Pizzaplex in The Storyteller. It’s interesting to think about their interactions before things went wrong again. I wonder if he doted on them at all because of all his past regrets, despite the fact that he never quite righted what he wronged with M1 and M2.
The other thing I was gonna bring up, of course, is that the loss of all the employees (his friends) at MCM might also be why he got upset at the idea of Fazbear Ent. firing all of the creative team again. Like if they were a comfort as much as something to remind him of his guilt surrounding how he treated everyone else, especially Fiona.
But like other than that, I was also curious whether or not the whole “it cannot see you in that suit, but I can” thing from F10-N4 is also something connected to the Glamrocks, considering they can’t tell when you’re in Freddy, either. His hatch is built exactly like the springlock suits in SOTM. Which is why I was wondering if Edwin had a hand in making them, but it could also just be because of how William and M2 ran off with all the blueprints?
Mostly I’m curious because I feel like the Glamrocks are a new line of mimics, but I could be wrong. It’s an interesting thought, though.
