Fallout for Hope Submission
Tumblr media
I’ve finally had time to work on a submission for the Fallout for Hope T-Shirt Design Challenge! My thought behind it was Baby Shaun’s first Christmas present pile, all the way back in 2076 (plus some bottle caps, of course. It wouldn’t be fallout without caps!)
Thank you to @chadfallout76podcast for both this and everything else you organise for our fandom 💕

What is this called?
Silver pondered at the strange feeling inside him. He didn't like not knowing or not being in control of his emotions, but it also made him feel good. Silver decided to finally put his pride aside, and he pages Stanley to come to his office. In no time Stanley enters, standing five feet from Silver's desk. "Is there something you need sir?" Silver let a moment pass before asking, "I am having trouble placing this strange feeling inside and I wanted to inquire your thoughts." Stanley was surprised and a bit confused. "Strange feeling sir?" Stanley moves to his place at the side of Silver's desk. "Yes, I…" Why did Silver feel nervous? He stared down at his desk, trying to find the right words to explain this feeling. "What is the name of an emotion that makes you feel a sense of happiness when a specific person is around? Their smile seemed to wash away any stress or anger. And when they look at you… they make you forget how to breathe for a moment. And I… I-I want this person close to me, I don't know why, bu-" "Sir? Are you in love with Frank?" A still silence lay heavy in the room. How did Stanley know he was talking about Frank? And in love..? Is that the feeling inside him? Silver finally speaks, "How did you know this was about Frank?" His voice was low, and he looked at his desk. He was too uncomfortable to look in Stanley's direction. "W-well sir, it's kind of obvious you have taken a liking to Frank. F-for me at least! I don't think the others have really noticed. Maybe." Silver guessed that made sense. Stanley is always by his side. Stanley would know Silver's habits well and notice the change first. "Was it really?" Silver spoke in his normal voice, finally looking up. "Well last month during the heat wave, Frank basically threw himself on you just to cool off. We were all rather surprised you didn't yell at him for torching you without permission. You were blushing all night and you were rather 'floaty'. You had a pep in your step the whole time." Silver thought back to that day. The feeling of being hugged by someone you liked was intoxicating. "I did? I figured that was the dopamine from being hugged for the first time in decades." Silver couldn't recall ever being hugged before, much less loved. Silver looks to the TV screen with the underwater screensaver, he hated asking… "What am I supposed to do? I've never been… in love before." This was pathetic, asking dating advice from Stanley of all people. And what made it worse was that this would be his best means to court Frank. Silver wouldn't be able to figure it out on his own. Fuck! He hated how weak and vulnerable he felt. "Well, you should take it slow. Get to know him on a personal level. You'll have to find out if he's even interested in other men." Silver's heart dropped. Of course, while same-gender relations aren't unheard of and somewhat common, it doesn't guarantee that Frank isn't straight. He remembers Frank talking about girls before. Silver shoved these thoughts out of his head. "Okay, you are dismissed for now Stanley." Stanley bows and exits the office. Get to know him on a personal level huh? Silver picks up his phone and dials Frank's number. "Frank, what are you doing right now?"

June 5th 1958. by Ronnie Bell Via Flickr: eight days after its first flight. 142259 crashed near Edwards Air Force Base, California (USA), due to a failure of the aft access door of the right engine during the 296th flight in its flight test program. The test pilot Gerald Huelsbeck initiated the seat ejection sequence but was killed when he ejected too low for the parachute to deploy.

Phantom Friday...
Tumblr media
The first Air Force PHANTOM wasn't the Phantom... it was the F-110A Spectre.
It's complicated. The Air Force realized the new Navy F4H-1 PHANTOM was better than anything they had or had planned, so they "borrowed" two for evaluation, "bought" 27 F-4Bs from the Navy production and then ordered their own.
That Century-series moniker F-110 Spectre soon went away due to McNamara's plan for re-organizing aircraft designations and also because, well, come on now.
The Air Force PHANTOM had only minor changes... wider wheels with anti-skid brakes, a different bombing system, cartridge-start for the J-75 engines and a control stick in the back because the Air Force considered both crew to be pilots. The backseater couldn't land because he had terrible visibility and couldn't lower the gear, but he could at least help out with the flying and potentially get the aircraft out of trouble if the pilot up front was hit.
The Navy never got the two "borrowed" airframes back, they fudged the serial numbers to make them Air Force aircraft.
---------------------------------------
(oh, and to respond to an unfair attack down in the comments which you may or may not see, I do not steal other people's posts.
Ever.
I may reblog someone's post and add comments but if their post isn't suitable for that I absolutely credit the blog where the image originated if I re-use it.
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
As I pointed out to the commenter, historic photos are widely available and unless someone took the picture themselves they are found in many different places. The one in question, this one, sat in my collection for years and I came across it recently looking for interesting images for Phantom Friday posts. The original source of it is lost back in the dialup days. If we both happened to post it at about the same time, well, sometimes great minds think alike.)

New Story!
Summary:
From his spot on the floor, Luke watches Julie laying across her bed doing her homework. Her nose in her book, she hasn’t been paying him any attention, aside from the occasional smirk she gives when he heaves a sigh.

🌈 I always love hearing lgbt f/o headcanons!
(send me a 🌈 and I’ll tell you the LGBTQ HCs I have for my F/Os)
I've been playing FH4 again, you can tell because the stuff I'm saying makes no sense lmao
Alex Strachan is pan! Funnily enough, I didn't know this until I told him I was pan myself, at which point he gasped, shouted "HOLY SHIT YOU TOO?" and kind of just started crying?? Turns out he wasn't at all open about it for various reasons; only two other people (Rebecca and Jay) knew. Eventually, though, there did come a time when he felt ready to publicly announce, and embrace, his sexuality.
