Guys, this webtoon is sooo underrated. Like this series is so genuinely amazing! There's an elemental power system, the fight scenes are really cool, and the bickering between the main characters are hilarious. Not to mention that the the main guy, Frank Fahrenheit, is so frickin stupid, funny and loveable. Y'all should give this a read! It's by the same person who did the Play with Fire animatic on YouTube, CuteC3! The series is called Fire for Hire!

Fire For Hire webtoon - miscellaneous thoughts

So: Jake is a loose cannon. He sells information to Silver yet willingly offers information to Slate. Slate knows this, and makes sure to not give away any sensitive information to Jake, the flow of information was very one-sided. Also also I don’t have any evidence for this but I think Jake and Frank are related. No reason just Vibes. Maybe that’s how Jake knew Franks location. And I think Jake has no elemental powers, just a plainbread human bein. I wonder what his mask is for?

Related: I think Frank got his element from the special forces elemental program. I think it’s like the super-soldier program. Frank graduated without a job, turned to the army for money or grants or loans or whatever. Student debt is a commonly-cited reason people join the army after all (and it’s why us ‘Mercian’s don’t have free education / healthcare)

I also have a theory that Slate positioned / roofied the cupcakes in the hotel room that Frank ate. The sleepiness just hit him so suddenly, ya know? And with Slate watching him drift into unconsciousness…to be clear I don’t think Slate poisoned him for any lewd or otherwise ill-willed reason, just to make sure Frank stayed unconscious through the night. That way Slate could get some sleep and wouldn’t have to babysit Frank. (He threatened to put him unconscious before, in the car, remember?)

Because of this theoretical roofy-ing I wondered if there was some sort of stalker-yandere vibe with Slate towards Frank, but thinking back I don’t think that’s the case. (Though that comment on his availability didn’t really do him any favors. But maybe he was just directing the conversations focus away from Jenny?) Instead, I think Slate targeted Frank because of his connections to Silver, and because of his potential as an informant to them should he be dragged back to Silver by the loan sharks. He owes them money, they probably wouldn’t kill him before shaking a few more coins out of him. Frank checks all the boxes that Slate is looking for.

Maybe Jenny and Frank work as hired help for the government? Not a theory but I just love how Jenny is just so cool and composed but the moment you mention Sol she starts fangirling and squealing like a Kpop stan. And also how she just pulls out her DS instead of making eye contact with or talking to other people. The woman of all time.
