My own highly specific reasoning for the whole "fairy or walrus at the door" scenario, is that a fairy wouldn't IMMEDIATELY surprise me in that I wouldn't immediately take it as real. If I saw a tiny, winged being I'd probs first be like, "Wow, they've make kids' toys a lot more advanced since Sky Dancers." Even if we're talking a wider scope of fair folk lore, I'm much more likely to think that a LARPer got separated from their group and is in need of directions or something.

Meanwhile, if a walrus showed up at my door, it would likely be one of two actual, real walruses I know, and it would mean something terribly wrong has gone down at the local zoo. This causes immediate and acute surprise and concern.

The fairy can probably take care of itself and navigate the world just fine, whereas the walrus would necessitate calls to multiple municipalities, county authorities would probably get involved, it would be a whole thing. Therefore, in my world, the walrus would elicit a much stronger emotional response altogether, including initial surprise.

Everyone's talking about Wish right now.... The only thing I can say about WISH.......let's hope it's like a Frozen 1 type thing. Where the trailers were ABSOLUTE ASS but then the film turned out really good. TT0TT

I mean.....there is a difference between the two. While the west got weird trailers that didn't matter for Frozen (Olaf vs Sven carrot thing), JPN and other countries got trailers that actually showcased the plot and drama in an interesting way.... And Wish.....well...... Wish at least gives us a villain and a part of an argument.....and I can't see that argument leading anywhere.....great tbh. So maybe not the best comparisons but let's hope for the Frozen 1 vibe!

Anyway I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far, but I'm hoping its better than the ass disaster Frozen 2 and Ralph 2 were. ;w;

i wanna be your grandma so bad, please let me pinch your face and knit you a sweater. you're most likely the best friend of the protagonist, and there's some possible overlap between you and the narrator. you're sweet and try very hard to be selfless. you watch the ones you love descend into darkness, and make every effort to help them through it all. it's not enough. you keep trying to make it enough. you provide comic relief, a listening ear, a hug, advice── any method of support you can think of. your own personal tragedy isn't documented. sometimes you wish it was, even though you're the one who ensures it is not. you want people to care for you the way you do for others. but you refuse to ask for it, so you wait for others to read between the lines. they usually don't. at least you're the one who gets to survive the tragedy. no matter how many times you beg to trade places, it is always you at the end, sitting at someone else's grave.

prepare for an onslaught of both the most dehumanizing and hateful takes, and flood of thirst comments. you are chronically misunderstood. whether or not you're actually evil is debatable. you may be acting out for revenge, to defend someone you love, or even just to protect yourself. you're a pretty jaded person. you don't trust or even really like most people. maybe you did at one point. but that part of you is gone, and you don't go a single day without grieving it. you think a lot about what your life could have been. you're stuck in the past. you're angry and maybe you don't even want to be, but this is the only way you can see to survive. you're open, but less in a trusting way and more like a wound. you don't like to let people see you, but the hurt spills out of you before you can stop it. you're impulsive, even as you try hard to plan and prepare. maybe someday your side of the story will finally be heard. until then, you can convince yourself that being hated is safer anyway.

A Little Speech about Cinderella

If you're still one of those people who:

1. Victim-blame Cinderella for not being able of escaping from her abusive home on her own and, because of that, consider her 'less strong' or 'less empowered' than the other princesses that came after her;

2. Sum up all her character arc as "the story of a young, naive and passive girl who does nothing but waiting for a prince to save her" instead of "the story of an abused orphan girl who longs for freedom and sees the ball (and later the prince) as an opportunity to escape from her suffering and finally be happy for ONCE";

3. Ignore her kindness, her resilience, her hope, her selflessness and her capacity to stay true to herself even in the worst circunstances or don't see these traits as a sign of inner 'strength' or a 'good example for young girls'...

You probably have to review and update your current concept of 'feminism' and a 'strong female character'.

In short: My girl Cinderella is a underrated icon and deserve as much love and appreciation as any other of the modern princesses 💙💖

The merrow made a face. "It doesn't need feathers. I'm not even sure where I'd get any," she mused. "I'd need to have a cohuleen druith before I could make one."

"Yeah, I guess. Thought it was kinda weird."

Though she took the hat back, frowning at it thoughtfully. "I suppose there's a certain logic there—something from abovewater to let you go abovewater. And it'd look fetching. Think you could grab a few while you're up there?"

...so today I learned that yin and yang chakra were actually just different names for spiritual and physical chakra, and not actually unique chakra types?

Like I straight up thought that yin and yang were like, chakra polarizations or some shit.

Not just new words for spiritual and physical chakra.

but a reader was all super... confused? Annoyed? Not sure, as tone over text is hard but they were like dude your power system doesn't make sense and now I'm like, sitting here wondering just how I managed to misunderstand canon so badly.

There has to be a fanfic I read that started it.

Maybe Ara? I always love the way she merges power mechanics in her crossovers so like, I could totally see myself absorbing her headcanons.

Or third fang. He was my very first Naruto fanfic, and I still have very fond memories.

Hmmmmm...

I mean at this point it's too late to change my story to be more in line with canon, so yin and yang are gonna keep being chakra polarizations instead of types, but until I find the fanfic that started this misconception it's gonna Haunt me.
