For somebody living in the West, growing up in the Netherlands, with all the privileges of my generation, this was the closest I had ever been to a war. It had quite an impact on me and I didn’t deal with it well, which is something I am embarrassed about. Disney is the wholesome entertainment I grew up with, but it also represents the mediocrity of pleasing everyone while not offending anyone. Disney embodied the idea of the America we all loved and it is the distorted version of that idea that eventually lead to the September 11 attacks. This film is not about the big conspiracies, terrorism, fundamentalism, hate or love. This film is about how close, good and bad, wrong and right, innocence and perversion can be. This is my film about my twin towers and how I miss them. The title “This Ain’t Disneyland” is based on what a policeman says to Jules and Gedeon Naudet while they were filming their documentary 9/11. The intro and outro song were inspired by lyrics my son sings as a mockery to the Disney anthem. Delhi High Court: The Bench of Vinod Goel, J. dismissed a revision petition filed against the order of Civil Judge (II), Central Districts, Tis Hazari courts by which respondent’s application under Order 9 Rule 1 read Section 151 CPC was allowed.
Respondent was a defendant in the subject civil suit. He filed an application before Civil Judge for setting aside the ex-parte judgment and decree passed in the suit. The application was allowed by order of Civil Judge which was challenged by the petitioners (plaintiffs) in the present revision petition.
J.H. Jafri, Advocate for the petitioners admitted that the cost of Rs 10,000 subject to which the ex-parte judgment and decree was set aside was accepted by the counsel appearing for the petitioner.
Noting such facts, the High Court was of the view that, “the petitioners cannot ‘blow hot and cold’, ‘fast and loose’ or ‘approbate and reprobate’. Where the petitioners have knowingly accepted the benefits of an order, they cannot be permitted to assail the same. This rule is applied to do equity.” In the present case, as the petitioners had already accepted the costs, therefore they were estopped by their act, conduct and acquiescence to continue the petition. Animation is not a genre; it is a cinematic art form. But what is animation? What are the hard definitions and where are the gray areas? These distinctions might be outdated due to the influx of new tools and technologies. This panel aims to explore the new frontiers of animation styles and their legitimacy.

Stephen Price is the founder and creative director of Stash Media Inc., and executive director of Stash Magazine, the world’s largest online video library of design, animation, and VFX. Stash Media was founded in 2004 on a simple idea: showcase exceptional motion design, visual effects, and animation projects and the people who create them. Their goal is to keep you inspired and informed. Available by online subscription, the Stash Permanent Collection streams over 5,000 design, animation, and VFX projects to creatives, studios, agencies, broadcasters, brands, and schools in over 40 countries. Stephen has given dozens of invited talks on design and digital production at festivals and corporate events spanning from Los Angeles to Hamburg and Istanbul to Caracas and has curated over 100 film screenings on four continents. Prior to founding Stash Media, Stephen executive produced animation and visual effects for feature films, TV series and advertising – winning multiple industry awards along the way. From 1995-2000, Stephen created and executive produced five seasons of “Splat!” a TV series for teens about about animation and VFX broadcast in over 100 markets.
Bruna Berford is a VR animator working for Penrose Studios, a startup based in San Francisco. At Penrose, Bruna helped bring to life the beautiful and unique Allumette, a VR film which held its World Premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Before joining Penrose, Bruna worked as an animator at Oculus Story Studio (Henry) and as a cinematic artist at Telltale Games (Minecraft Story Mode and Game of Thrones).
Max Rothman is the founder of Monticello Park Productions, a film company based in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, specializing in film production, sales, and consulting. Coming from a background in broadcast news and docu-reality, Mr. Rothman started Monticello Park as way to express and confront his true passions - creating artistically and intellectually challenging work and guiding it through the marketplace so that it reaches the intelligent, curious audiences it deserves. With tastes leaning towards the arthouse and experimental side of the media world, Monticello Park aims to support the work of established and emerging auteurs from around the world - both in the live-action and animated realms - and works to provide their own creative vision a comfortable and supportive space to thrive, regardless of how challenging their works may appear on the surface.
Amid Amidi is an award winning author and historian of animation. He founded Cartoon Brew in 2004 and since then has been the publisher and editor-in-chief, covering a wide range of topics, from cutting-edge computer animation and visual effects for both television and film, to classical techniques like hand-drawn and stop motion. It also covers trends in commercial animation, interactive apps, blockbuster Hollywood features, crowdfunding, and independent filmmaking.
Moderator: Faiyaz Jafri was born and raised in rural Holland of Dutch and Pakistani descent. He studied at the Technical University of Delft (MSc) and is self-taught as an animation artist and music composer. His work has been exhibited in the form of print, paintings, video installations, animations and life-size sculptures all over the world. Jafri’s award-winning films have screened at prestigious festivals and museums. He has worked for commercial clients including, IBM, Coca-Cola, and Ford. In 2016 Jafri co-founded the Third Culture Film Festival, the first truly independent film festival in Hong Kong. He is also the curator and creative director of the festival.
