Theresa Treadwell was a producer and writer who worked at Obsidian Entertainment on Fallout: New Vegas. When asked about her work on the game, she spoke about making a "conscious effort" regarding LGBT content and her perspective as a lesbian in relation to the project. She stated that Fallout: New Vegas is "one of best games out there" in the treatment of homosexuality, adding that it was an intentional decision.

We certainly didn’t intend for New Vegas to change anyone’s outlook on life, but if it did so for the better, then we’re happy for them – for you. Although I’ve been out for a very long time, I made a conscious effort to be out with relation to this project, as I wanted to be visible as a lesbian in the game industry. New Vegas itself is, I think, one of (if not the) best games out there in how we treat homosexuality – and all of that is very intentional. If my work on FNV, if my being out has helped even one gay person, then I have succeeded.

One thing that is interesting to me about Fallout and fandom and Wiki (especially after moving to the DMV) is that there are things that can't be sourced via something a developer said, but I am 99% sure are true - Like Point Lookout is not just Point Lookout State Park; the boardwalk area is 100% Ocean City, MD. It's a mashup of places but you wouldn't know that from relying on the wiki

I just wanna log into my old wiki account and write that the place "appears" inspired by Ocean City but it would get deleted immediately because "I live here" isn't a source

Tim Cain is one of the original creators of the Fallout Series and setting. He was the lead programmer on Fallout and one of the six people responsible for the game's original design. in 2023, Tim Cain published a video on what it was like as a gay game developer over the years.

Fallout: New Vegas: Matthew Perry

We at the Independent Fallout Wiki are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Matthew Perry, who voiced Benny in Fallout: New Vegas.

We thank him for all the good memories he has provided, and our hearts go out to his loved ones. Rest in peace, Matthew.

We actually are aware of where he's residing at! Some dialogue from MacCready, then from Daisy in Goodneighbor:

“One day, he's playing out in the fields behind our farm... the next he took a fever and these blue boils popped up all over his body.”

“Of course, MacCready. You've saved my behind more than once, it's the least I can do. It will arrive at your homestead in no time, MacCready.”

They mention “farm“ and “homestead,” which gives us a more concise idea as to where Duncan is at.
